Great for kids! Jen isn’t quite as passionate about decks as Dunc, but understands the value they add and between the two of them and guest Rod from BuildPro / One Stop Deck Shop you’re bound to learn something!

  • How much of a big deal is repiling?
  • I want to remove an old shower over a bath and install a new shower only - is that straight forward?

Jen's Quick Tips: Garden Design26 Jan 202300:03:48

Jen’s top tips for your garden design, having recently been through the process with Kerry are:

  • Why it’s worthwhile investing in an actual design rather than winging it - DIY the installation instead if budget is limited
  • The merit of getting mature trees in the ground or thinking ahead to what you might need and buying juvenile plants ahead of when you need them
  • The reasons for painting or staining your fence and shed black, and investing the money for a new fence in the planting instead

Jen’s Quick Tips: Plastering & Painting19 Jan 202300:07:26

As seasoned DIY painters, Jen and Dunc share their top tips:

  • If you don’t have the budget to outsource both plastering and painting, make it plastering because a good paint job is nothing on crappy plastering
  • Invest in decent tools. The difference in finish when using a high quality roller or brush vs a cheap crappy one is make or break. It’s worth the investment!
  • Don’t be disheartened after the first coat of paint. It always looks crap - once you’ve got 2-3 coats on it’ll be amazing.
  • Dunc’s top secret taping tip… you’ll have to listen to get this one
  • Dunc’s other tip is for those with kids, and it’s not to hold off painting the interior of your house even though toddlers wreck everything… but just hold off on the last coat of paint and apply it before selling - it’s quick and easy because there’s no prep work required
  • Jen and Dunc both share tips for cleaning your rollers too
  • We finish with Jen’s paint prep cleaning hack using Selleys Sugar Soap and a mop
