This week let's take a trip to the distant future where our Earth has been trashed and the planets and moons have been colonized. 1998's "Cowboy Bebop" introduced us to a galaxy with space travel, criminal syndicates, and bounty hunters. The show gave us the suave Spike and his partner, Jet, as the two travel planet to moon collecting bounties on their ship, Bebop. What is it about this simple premise that makes this show revered? It's finally happened. Something Rolando and Nicole covered on the podcast has since gotten a remake or revival. 

This week they turn their attentions to Child's Play and the Chucky saga. The two spoke about the original 1988 film in July 2019. The Chucky character, created by Don Mancini has a long history on the big screen and can now be found on the small screen in the new USA & SyFy series, "Chucky."

And, this time Chucky is protecting (or grooming) a gay teenager in Hackensack, NJ. And Rolando and Nicole have a lot of thoughts and feelings about that. Thoughts like, "Is revenge ever right?" "Is Chucky the queer icon we need?" And, "Where is this idyllic version of Hackensack located because it ain't Jersey."

Marriage: blessing or curse? This week, Nicole and Rolando discuss Ingmar Bergman's "Scenes from a Marriage," a 1973 Swedish mini-series that showed audiences the dissolution of a "successful" marriage. The Pygmalion adaptation focuses on high school teens who fall in love in the midst of a cruel bet. And Rolando was surprised how dark the film could be at times. Round 1: 1995's Mortal Kombat, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, follows protagonist Lou Kang on a revenge mission while simultaneously protecting the Earth-realm from Shang Tsung and his minions. How does this film rank amongst other video-game-adaptations? Is this film a flawless victory?

Round 2: 2021's Mortal Kombat has dropped in theaters and HBO Max. But, instead of following Lou Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade we're introduced by Mary-Sue, Cole Young. And we're given the gift of exposition dumping and CGI.

If you're a millennial you likely grew up watching "Saved by the Bell." Maybe you stuck with the show through "The College Years." Hell, maybe you even witnessed Zack and Kelly get married in "Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas." And you probably grew up thinking, "Zack Morris is so cool!"
