| Regardless of the “wellness girly” trend, you can be any girly you want | 01 Apr 2024 | 00:53:55 | |
CHAPTER 31
Do you consider yourself a “wellness girly”? Do you go for a neighborhood walk every morning, drink an oat milk matcha latte, and attempt to recreate the latest Erewhon celebrity collab smoothie at home? Or, do you go into the office every day (no time for walk, matcha, or Erewhon smoothie most days) to work a 9-5?
News flash: you don’t have to be either a “wellness girly” OR a “corporate girly.” You can actually be whatever girly you want to be. You can go for a morning walk on only Sundays, drink matcha some days and coffee other days, and also work a corporate job–or anything in between.
Today on Regardless, we’re chatting with educator and herbalist Phoebe McPherson. As the co-founder of the functional mushroom company Fungtion (@letsfungtion), she offers natural solutions through mushroom elixirs to empower people to live their best lives. However, she started out as a “corporate girly” at the beginning of her career, too. | Regardless of your health struggles, you can lean into self-love to become your best healer | 04 Mar 2024 | 01:15:17 | |
Chapter 29: The Life Manual for Healing in your 20s
Whether it’s dealing with chronic UTI’s or a parent with cancer, so many of us experience chronic illness at some point in our 20s. It could be your own medical journey or having to help a loved one through theirs–regardless, it’s not easy to navigate. But what if I told you that shifting your mindset and practicing self-love can actually aid your physical wellness?
Today, we are speaking with Dana Croschere and Krisanna Sexton, the masterminds behind the film “Love Heals.” After supporting one another through chronic illness within their relationship, they are now on a mission to spread love, health, and healing. Dana and Krisanna took 18 people to a retreat center in Sedona, AZ to work on healing in nontraditional ways, and they have used the film to share with the world their stories and the power of using the mind-body connection to heal yourself.
THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS:
Here are some of Dana and Krisanna's tips on healing yourself through self-love:
- Check in with yourself. Ask yourself, what do I need?
- Find time to be quiet with yourself and engage in some kind of meditation daily.
- Start to trust your intuition.
- Obtain “heart-brain coherence” by connecting your brain and your heart. Practice breathing while putting your hand on your heart and bringing up whatever emotions you're feeling. Take breaths envisioning positive emotions moving in and out of your heart space to calm your nervous system.
- Take intentional time away from your phone and connect with nature.
- Know that you are your own best healer and everything else is just mirroring back what you already know deep down.
To see their film “Love Heals,” visit their website here. Subscribers to Gaia can also view the film on the app. They are currently working on their next film, “Rescued Hearts,” and you can stay tuned for updates here.
Additional resources Dana and Krisanna recommend:

- Joe Dispenza meditations
- Tony Robbins trainings

| Regardless of what is going on around me, I can preside over my fears and take radical responsibility for my life | 19 Feb 2024 | 00:47:11 | |
Chapter 28: The Life Manual for Finding Stewardship in your 20's
Maybe you’ve been saying you want a new job for months, but you still haven’t started applying. Or, maybe you open your computer to check your bank account, but you just can’t get yourself to do it. Maybe you need to move out, but you’re avoiding scheduling apartment tours. We’ve all been there–pushing away these big, scary things in our 20s because we don’t want to deal with them.
But we all know that if you don’t preside over your fears, they’ll only continue to grow. Like guest speaker, Shelyna Brown, says: just like a judge in a courtroom, you have the power to preside over your own life.
Shelyna is a visionary leader and advocate for justice. With a two-decade career as a public defender and respected Superior Court judge in Santa Clara, she has since founded the Equality and Social Justice Committee to mentor the next generation of young leaders at San Jose State University. As an author and speaker, Shelyna offers all of us 20-something-year-olds incredible insight into how to preside over our own lives and take control over our realities. Together, we’ll be chatting about how to take radical responsibility for your healing, preside over your fears, make big decisions with ease, and trust that the universe has your back.
THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS:
Shelyna’s steps on how to take control of your life:
Assess your mindset. Ask yourself: Am I presiding over my mindset? Am I choosing my reality?
Assess your heartset. Ask yourself: What is it I believe about myself?
Assess your skill set. Ask yourself: Am I doing the things I want to be doing?
Really sit down and love yourself.
Here are some action items to remind yourself what you’re here in this world to do, being uniquely you:
Meditate and get quiet with yourself
Find an accountability partner with whom you can share your goals and keep each other accountable

| Redefining Sex in our 20’s: How to have empowering experiences that are fun without abandoning our self-love, respect, and safety | 15 Jan 2024 | 01:23:49 | |
Chapter 26: The Life Manual for Sex and Dating
POV: You finally made it back to his house after getting dinner and drinks. He closes the blinds, dims the lights, and maybe even asks Alexa to play the Weeknd radio station on Spotify. This was the moment you were waiting for all night. Or was it? Suddenly, you’re not so sure if you want to go all the way–after all, it’s only the second date.
Sex (or lack thereof) is a huge part twentysomethinghood. And when we don’t properly learn about sex in school or normalize talking about it in our daily lives, it’s easy to abandon ourselves and feel confused or shameful in intimate situations.
Today, we’re giving you the chapter in your life manual for dating that goes beyond the birds and the bees to help you have more fulfilling sexual experiences that serve your future self.
Naomi Ruth is going to help us redefine sex to find self-love and empowerment in our intimate experiences. Naomi is a dedicated sex and relationship coach who founded Soulflame Coaching to provide individuals and couples with an approach to sex and love that fosters safety, trust, and confidence. Today, we’ll be discussing a fresh understanding of how sex physically alters the chemicals in your body, why we feel post-sex guilt, the importance of pleasuring yourself, and how to have hard conversations around sex while navigating hookup culture in our 20s.
THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS:
Practice the Stoplight Method. Before putting yourself in an environment where it could get intimate, know what you want to do for sure (green light), know what you’re open to potentially exploring (yellow light), and know your hard boundaries (red light).
Have the “pleasure talk” before you are alone with your romantic partner.
Practice pleasing yourself. When you know what you like, you’ll feel more empowered (and have more pleasure) when you are with your partner.
Be intentional with your intimate relationships. Ask yourself questions like, What do I want from this experience? What do I want out of this relationship? And communicate with your partner to make sure you are on the same page.
Above all, do not put anyone else’s pleasure, comfort, and safety above your own.

| Real Talk on Physical Health with your host, Skylar Sorkin | 08 Jan 2024 | 00:09:25 | |
The gut. Hormones. And skin. In this minisode, we're about to get really personal.
Typically, I bring in a guest speaker for each episode. However, for this minisode, I wanted to share some of my own experiences and thoughts about the upcoming topic. Tune into these Real Talk minisodes to get a little bit more personal with me before each Regardless episode.
This week, we're talking about our physical health. In my early 20s, I went through so many struggles, from getting mono that led to a tonsillectomy to suffering from an eating disorder. Until about a year ago, I continued to neglect my health, and the result of how I treated my body is showing up in chronic health issues I'm struggling with right now (think: I've had 13 UTI's in the last year. RIP my sanity).
For the first time in my life, at the age of 26, I now truly realize the importance of taking care of my physical health. And I'm so excited to open up this conversation in our next Regardless episode so you can all properly set yourselves up for the rest of 20somethinghood and beyond.

| Regardless of Not Meeting The One Yet, I Married Myself and I'm Worthy of Everything I Desire | 02 Jan 2024 | 01:02:22 | |
Chapter 25: The Life Manual for Dating and Finding Self-Love in your 20s
“So I just got married…to myself.”
Isabel Campanelli is a relationship coach and guide who helps individuals realize that anything is possible and that everyone is worthy of love. And she just got married to herself in a beautiful ceremony celebrating self-love.
Tune in as we talk about what it means to truly move beyond the typical notion of self-love and the benefit of deeply committing to your inner growth. Isabel will walk us through the ins and outs of her wedding, from how she crafted her vows to the metaphorical and spiritual party favors she gave out to her guests. We’ll also discuss how to navigate dating in your 20s and manifest your perfect partner, operating from the mindset of knowing you can (1) be complete with yourself AND (2) also be open to creating a beautiful romantic partnership with someone else.
THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS:
Practice embodying and accepting all parts of yourself.
To do this, Isabel recommends:
IFS: internal family systems therapeutic practice
Deeply looking at all the voices in our head of all the different archetypes that we carry. This might be a voice in your head that is a people pleaser or chronic self-sabotager, for instance.
Remember, all of your flawed internal voices stem from trauma. Once you invest time into seeking self love, you can heal your trauma and come to accept all parts of yourself.
Feel all the feelings. Our feelings have messages. Listen. Slow down to receive. If you’re moving too fast, it’s hard to feel and receive.

| Regardless of What You're Going Through: We Can Normalize and Navigate Loss in a Culture of Toxic Positivity | 18 Dec 2023 | 00:52:43 | |
Chapter 24: The Life Manual for Dealing with Grief in your 20s
We experience loss almost every day in our 20s. Maybe it's a small loss like your partner starts acting differently, you have to find a new roommate, or you're switching teams at your job. Maybe it's a little bigger-- you lost your job, you just graduated college and have to move home, you went through a friend breakup, your situationship ghosted you.
Whatever it may be, anytime change occurs and something is lost, it's a death. And it's NORMAL to feel grief. It's NORMAL for things not to be okay sometimes.
Today, we are going to unpack what it means to process grief in a streamlined way with expert and author on the subject, Dr. Karen Kramer. Dr. Kramer is going to offer clear steps on how to navigate your grief amidst our society's climate of toxic positivity. We'll discuss the importance of normalizing these feelings in our 20s and how to have honest, raw, and real conversations with other 20somethings in your life.
THIS EPISODE’S SYLLABUS STEPS:
Practice listening and creating spaces for those in your life. Encourage conversations to be vulnerable by using the phrase, “tell me more,” if someone says they’re not having the best day.
To heal your own feelings of grief in a healthy way, follow these steps:
Use your logical mind: What is the rational thought and truth about what is going on?
Use your heart: How does this make me feel?
Use your feet: What are the actions I can do to change this feeling?
Use your hands: What support do I need today, informal or formal? A friend? A lawyer?
Use your eyes: Can you imagine what the new normal will look like? What is the vision moving forward?

| Regardless, I’m Enough - How to Love Yourself From The Inside Out In The Obsessive Fitness Industry & Social Media Age | 23 Jan 2023 | 00:58:33 | |
In today’s episode, we get the inside scoop about body image and how to love yourself from the inside out from a fitness influencer herself, Remy Kam. With over 8 years of group fitness and trainer experience, Remy has held roles for industry-leading brands like Tone It Up, Therabody, Equinox, and Parsley Health. Remy is currently a Vuori Clothing Collaborator, Barry’s Trainer, Bodyrok Instructor, Personal Trainer, fitness and wellness influencer, and the founder of her new fitness App, KORE by Remy.
Remy gets raw with us about her personal experience with body image and love as a fitness trainer & influencer who is in this world 24/7. This episode is a reminder that even the “perfect” influencers you see on social media share a very similar experience with us all. You'll leave this episode knowing that your worth does not come from what you eat in a day, how much you work out, or what you look like, but WHO YOU ARE. Remy and I get real about what REALLY MATTERS and how you can start to put social media into perspective and turn inward. Our value does not come from your body but from within.
Lastly, Remy shares what it was like for her to step aside from her 9 to 5 job to pursue a career in content creation as a fitness trainer. She opens up with us about some of the obstacles and opportunities she has experienced thus far in the world of entrepreneurship, hopefully inspiring you all to go after what you really want.
Syllabus Steps:
ZEN ZONE: Create the time and space for yourself to pause and turn inward. For example, light some candles put on soothing music and take out a journal. Writing your feelings out on paper rather than typing is a great way to release and work through emotions. Remy’s Favorite Journal: The Five-Minute Journal
ACTIVE REST AND RECOVERY: Lymphatic massage, physical therapy, swimming, OR walking. Movement in the sun >
PERFORMANCE AND LONGEVITY > OBSESSIVE FITNESS REGIME: Educate yourself on what’s most healthy and sustainable for your body. Rest days are necessary. Pause and listen to what your body is needing. Stretch. Your fitness journey is yours and is not going to be comparable to anyone else on Instagram.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR BODY: Your value and who you are come from within! Recognize the difference you make in others’ lives. Look to your friends - ask them what their favorite thing about you is. I promise you it won't be because of the way you look. Create affirmations that remind you of your worth (i.e. I am thankful for my body’s strength, I listen to my body, I give my body what it needs, my body is a miracle)
WRITE A THANK YOU LETTER TO YOUR BODY: This might feel weird, but I promise it helps. Start by envisioning each part of your body and ask yourself, “what does this body part do for me?” Creating a physical copy of how your body cares for you (whether you care for it or not) can feel empowering and grounding.
ASK FOR HELP: Leverage and utilize your network for support. Ask questions and stay curious. Call the people you need, you are not alone on this journey.

| Regardless, I'm Curious: How to Slow Down to Speed Up & Go After Your Dreams in Corporate America | 20 Dec 2022 | 00:55:51 | |
We sit down with Kirti Gupta, the Vice President of Economic Strategy and the Chief Economist at Qualcomm, the world's leading wireless tech innovator. With over 20 years of Fortune 500 industry experience, Kirti collaborates with various business units internally, and a global network of experts, economists, and policymakers externally.
Kirti shares what it was like for her as a twenty-something-year-old and regardless of fear how she followed her dreams by moving to the United States alone to work for one of the world's leading tech companies. Kirti gets real with us on how she successfully climbed the "ladder" as a woman and a minority. We learn how Kirti reframed "climbing the ladder" into something that worked for her. Kirti also shares how she vocalized her passions to her company which lead her to create a NEW role that would forever be implemented in the tech world. We also discuss the importance and interchangeability of "self-work" in both your personal and professional life. You'll leave this episode knowing how to listen to your passions, vocalize this to your teammates, and understand the power of slowing down to speed up.
Syllabus Steps:
BE COURAGEOUS: Unapologetically listen to your inner voice and follow follow follow your passions.
RAISE YOUR HAND: Run with opportunities and take on projects that pique your interest. Raise your hand, vocalize, and always advocate for what you’re passionate about.
BUILD YOUR PERSONAL BRAND: Differentiate yourself within a company. We are all entrepreneurs and we all have personal brands regardless of being in corporate America.
Don’t worry about taking steps back (taking the detour). In the long run, you must slow down to speed up.
ALONE TIME WITH ZERO DISTRACTIONS: Each day, prioritize an early & unplugged morning walk in nature, meditation, mindful movement, or journaling. The more you incorporate alone time, the more you’ll be able to hear your inner voice and understand what he or she is telling you.
BUILD & PRIORITIZE YOUR LIFE “BOARD OF DIRECTORS:” This is a group of at least five people you trust the most, who believe in you and vice versa.
These stakeholders should be people outside your work, people who will stand behind you regardless. People who will help make your dreams a reality. Remember, it takes a village. You are not on this journey alone. <3
