Episode 141- Hostiles (2017)11 Sep 202401:04:05

In 1892, legendary Army Capt. Joseph Blocker reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to their tribal land. Embarking on a harrowing and perilous journey from Fort Berringer, N.M., to the grasslands of Montana, they soon encounter a young widow whose family was killed on the plains. The travelers must now band together to survive a punishing landscape that's crawling with hostile Comanches and vicious outliers.

Host Nathan has brought to us an underrated and intense film for our his #Wilderness genre choice!  We're here with a stellar cast and we get ALL the emotions, gunfights, and probably the best performance by a mumbling mustache we've ever seen!  This film gives some devastating action and death scenes, along with some stellar cinematography.  Join us for discussing 2017's "Hostiles"!

We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.

Episode 82- Knock Knock (2015)24 Mar 202101:27:34

When a devoted husband and father is left home alone for the weekend, two stranded young women unexpectedly knock on his door for help. What starts out as a kind gesture results in a dangerous seduction and a deadly game of cat and mouse. A sexy new thriller from director Eli Roth and written for the screen by Eli Roth & Nicolás López & Guillermo Amoedo and story by Anthony Overman and Michael Ronald, KNOCK KNOCK stars Keanu Reeves as the family man who falls into temptation and Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas as the seductresses who wreak havoc upon his life, turning a married man's dark fantasy into his worst nightmare.

Nathan brings us one of the cringiest films that we've had here on the Reel Feels Podcast for our #EroticThriller episode.  The guys discuss the psychological formality played out by these two girls against Reeves' character and much more.  This movie definitely fits the bill for the genre.  It's all agreed that Reeves gives his own "Full-Cage" type of performance here under the direction of Eli Roth.  It's true this film has both haters and those that find it engaging.  So stick with us, put on some music, call an Uber and make sure the shower is nice and... hot.

We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.

Episode 81- Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)10 Mar 202101:34:51

Capt. James Kirk (William Shatner) and the crew of the USS Enterprise are carrying Klingon Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner) to Earth to negotiate a peace treaty with the United Federation of Planets. The ship appears to fire on a Klingon vessel, and Gorkon is killed in the subsequent confusion. Kirk and the ship's doctor, Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley), are arrested for murder, leaving Spock (Leonard Nimoy) to figure out who is behind the attack and save the negotiations.

CRY HAVOC! And let slip the dogs of war!   It's time for some classic Star Trek folks!  The Reel Feels boys discuss this powerful film featuring the star studded cast of the original Star Trek crew, along with the incredibly talented (and sadly late) Christopher Plummer.  It's an episode of intrigue, historical references, personal connection and maybe a little geeking out with Star Trek knowledge.  So grab your gravity boots, take a swig of some Romulan ale and fire those torpedo's!

We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.

Episode 80- Patreon Pick: Little Giants (1994)24 Feb 202101:12:24

Ever since childhood, nerdy Danny O'Shea (Rick Moranis) has felt inferior to his brother, Kevin (Ed O'Neill), a former college football star. Danny runs a gas station, while Kevin coaches the local youth football team. When Kevin's team rejects Danny's daughter, Becky (Shawna Waldron), because she's a girl, Becky convinces her dad to start a rival team, though the city can support only one. To prove himself against his brother, Danny begins coaching his team of misfits for a playoff game.

The Reel Feels Boys, especially Drew & Nathan, get ready for game day with this 90's kids classic with pure nostalgia.  The boys discuss the fun characterization of the younger actors, the role of the dads with Rick Moranis and Ed O'Niell, their own take on how they'd fit on the team.  So slap on some pads, make sure you have your alka-seltzer tablets and lets play some pee wee football!

Episode 79- Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004)10 Feb 202101:06:35

Prim East Coast dandy Hiram Gummer (Michael Gross) arrives in the town of Rejection, Nev., to investigate a series of strange deaths at the silver mine he owns. He receives help from local innkeeper Christine Lord (Sara Botsford) and miner Juan Pedilla (Brent Roam). But, when it turns out that gigantic killer worms that burrow underground are responsible for the miners' deaths, Hiram decides he'd better call in expert gunslinger Black Hand Kelly (Billy Drago) to save the day.

The Reel Feels Boys are BACK and it's time for SEASON 4: The Fellowship of the Feels to begin!  As per tradition we are continuing the kickoff of each season as we watch ALL the Tremors franchise!  This time we head back to the old west with Tremors 4.  We laugh at the complete opposite character that Hiram Gummer (Burt's great-grandfather) is opposed to our beloved Burt Gummer, our love for Black Hand Kelly, the lack of practical graboid effects and maybe even favor it over our previous viewing of Tremors 3: Back to Perfection.  We also review our new genres for the upcoming season and give a nice shoutout to our beloved Patrons over at Patreon!

His assignment: eliminate four escaped Replicants from the colonies who have returned to Earth. Before starting the job, Deckard goes to the Tyrell Corporation and he meets Rachel (Sean Young), a Replicant girl he falls in love with.

Skin Jobs... the Futility of life... Themes around eyes... Drinking... and SO much rain!  It's time for a futuristic noir in the #LiteraryAdaptation of Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" in 1982's Blade Runner!  What better way to end our 3rd Season, "Return of the Feels", than with this amazing Ridley Scott classic?  From the music, to the amazing sets, we're also captivated by the mysteries of the characters in this movie.  This is a treat for the Reel Feels Boys, we hope it is for you too.  Thank you for an amazing third year of downloads, community and the Reelest of Feels!

Episode 73- Se7en (1995)18 Nov 202001:28:00

When retiring police Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) tackles a final case with the aid of newly transferred David Mills (Brad Pitt), they discover a number of elaborate and grizzly murders. They soon realize they are dealing with a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) who is targeting people he thinks represent one of the seven deadly sins. Somerset also befriends Mills' wife, Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), who is pregnant and afraid to raise her child in the crime-riddled city.

What sin are you guilty of?  The Reel Feels Detectives are cracking down on the case of the murderous serial killer John Doe today as they review 1995's "Se7en".  This movie is... just amazing.  That's unanimous all round the recording studio.  The guys discuss the deaths, the fine planning, music and directorial career of Mr. Fincher, and even reveal a personal story about what would be in "their box" that would simply destroy them.  But don't worry, there's still some laughs in his episode... so it's not all grim.

Equipped with innovative stealth technology, Ramius' submarine, "Red October," is virtually invisible. However, when an American sub briefly detects the Russians' presence, CIA agent Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) sets out to determine Ramius' motives, fearing he may launch an attack on the U.S.

It's a Goddamn cook!!  Boy, oh boy, do the Reel Feels guys have an episode for you!  On todays episode we discuss the wonderful assortment of actors within the movie, the soundtrack, many quotable lines, the director, fun trivia and the introspective understanding of the characters we've come to know aboard both the Dallas and the Red October.  Some things don't react well to bullets... but everything is going to react well to our feels for this amazing film!

Episode 71- The Big Sleep (1946)21 Oct 202001:17:38

Private investigator Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart) is hired by General Sternwood to help resolve the gambling debts of his wild young daughter, Carmen (Martha Vickers). Sternwood's older daughter, Vivian (Lauren Bacall), provides assistance when she implies that the situation is more complex, and also involves casino owner (John Ridgely) and a recently disappeared family friend. As people linked to the Sternwoods start being murdered, Marlowe finds himself getting ever deeper into the case.

Host Jack brings us a wonderful choice for our Femme Fatale genre with 1946's "The Big Sleep."  The shadows, the atmosphere, the constant drinking and an abundance of smoking.  The guys gush over the sexual tension throughout the movie and the classic writing to accompany all the witty banter.  This fabulous film noir story of a hardboiled detective is just what the doctor ordered.

Episode 70- Patreon Pick: Who Am I? (1998)07 Oct 202001:17:11

A group of covert CIA operatives trailing a potential new energy source are double-crossed by corrupt agent Morgan (Ron Smerczak), who causes a helicopter crash in remote South Africa. The sole survivor (Jackie Chan), suffering severe amnesia, is nursed to recovery by a kindly native tribe who call him "Whoami" after the question he keeps asking. With the help of a mysterious reporter (Michelle Ferre), Whoami pieces together his past and tracks the turncoat agent and his criminal cohorts.

It's another Patreon special brought to us by our great friend Matthew!  We're having a Reel Feels first here folks... a movie we've NEVER seen before.  So, who has CIA training, knows how to make a coconut IV, mumbles while dressed up like an African native, and is tricked by two undercover agents all while dealing with his amnesia?  Jackie Chan baby!  It's 1998's "Who Am I?"  This movie is complete bonkers, doesn't make sense at times and is even co-directed/written by Jackie Chan himself.  However, there is one badass fight that redeems everything!  Listen up and enjoy!

Episode 69-The Silence of the Lambs (1991)23 Sep 202001:18:11

Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

Lets give it up for the academy award winner of the BIG 5 for 1991!  The boys have a good time discussing creep factor, improved lines, possible recasting and potential selections for roles, credit for depicting actual real world people, and a recurrence of quoting "Multiple Miggs"... maybe a bit too much. So let's open a battle of nice Chianti and sit down for a bite to eat... shall we?  It's our Psychological Drama genre in Episode 69!

We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.

But Pete's lieutenant, Bovver (Leo Gregory), suspects Matt's motives and inadvertently reopens a years-old rivalry between Pete's brother (Marc Warren) and the leader of a rival gang (Geoff Bell).

United!  United!  GSE! GSE!  Oh boy, the blokes get down and really discuss the ins and outs of the firms and its members in this 2005 film.  The jokes are abound, character development, the punches and bodily harm, all the songs and inevitable betrayal.  Then, we even bring you our very OWN chants for our "gamer" firms!  Stick around, grab a pint and lets watch some socc.... I mean, football!

Episode 67- Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)26 Aug 202001:25:19

Following a childhood tragedy, Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) follows a long and winding road to music stardom. Dewey perseveres through changing musical styles, an addiction to nearly every drug known and bouts of uncontrollable rage, until finally, he wins the heart, but not necessarily the body, of his loyal backup singer, Darlene (Jenna Fischer).

It's our #Music genre for Episode 67, brought to us by Host Jack!  This one is a wild ride folks!  The amount of music legends parodied in this movie and the absolute talent of John C. Reilly as Dewey Cox is pretty great.  In this episode the boys discuss not only the songs, the characters, the absurd comedy, and the touching journey that can only be "walked hard".  The Reel Feels gang also shares a bit of what they've been watching and then of course there's our legendary segments!  So are y'all ready to "Duet" with us? We guarantee you it'll be a "Beautiful Ride"!

Episode 66- Patreon Pick: Chariots of Fire (1981)12 Aug 202000:59:53

In the class-obsessed and religiously divided United Kingdom of the early 1920s, two determined young runners train for the 1924 Paris Olympics. Eric Liddell (Ian Charleson), a devout Christian born to Scottish missionaries in China, sees running as part of his worship of God's glory and refuses to train or compete on the Sabbath. Harold Abrahams (Ben Cross) overcomes anti-Semitism and class bias, but neglects his beloved sweetheart Sybil (Alice Krige) in his single-minded quest.

This is our very first Patreon Chosen movie, selected for us by host Drew's very own dad. This film is without a doubt a classic, very much so. Having won 4 Academy Awards, one of which Best Picture, it has made it's place in history. The guys today discuss the thematic "dramatic" issues poised in the film, costuming, characters and of course the oh so iconic "slow motion music". This is, Chariots of Fire!

We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.

Episode 65- The Edge (1997)29 Jul 202001:21:33

The plane carrying wealthy Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) crashes down in the Alaskan wilderness. Together with the two other passengers, photographer Robert Green (Alec Baldwin) and assistant Stephen (Harold Perrineau), Charles devises a plan to help them reach civilization. However, his biggest obstacle might not be the elements, or even the Kodiak bear stalking them -- it could be Robert, whom Charles has reason to believe is having an affair with his wife and would not mind seeing him dead. When a 90's action-survival movie can hold up in 2020, you know you got something good!  The guys discuss the character choices of Hopkins and Baldwin, while praising the chops of Bart the Bear.  The landscape of Canada is mentioned, along with some great music.  In the segments traps, hunting and even treasured photos are brought up.  It's our #Survival genre episode! We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. TRILOGY!  It's our #Biblical genre for this episode and we couldn't be happier.  Join us to discuss everything from the grail, father figures, troubled pasts and unplanned trips.   We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. A nameless ronin, or samurai with no master (Toshirô Mifune), enters a small village in feudal Japan where two rival businessmen are struggling for control of the local gambling trade. Taking the name Sanjuro Kuwabatake, the ronin convinces both silk merchant Tazaemon (Kamatari Fujiwara) and sake merchant Tokuemon (Takashi Shimura) to hire him as a personal bodyguard, then artfully sets in motion a full-scale gang war between the two ambitious and unscrupulous men. A lone stranger comes into town and through his cunning mind and skill with a sword pits two rival houses against each other!  It's "Yojimbo"!  Host Jack has given us a treat this time around for our #BlackAndWhite genre of film for Episode 63!  We cover things like the costuming, the sword fighting, clever characters and even a scandal that happened 3 years after this film came out that resulted in a lawsuit!  This landmark film was a joy to review and we can't wait for you to listen.   We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. Episode 62- Patch Adams (1998)17 Jun 202001:04:57

After struggling with depression in a mental hospital, Hunter "Patch" Adams (Robin Williams) decides he wants to become a doctor. He enrolls at Virginia Medical University but is disillusioned by the school's clinical perspective on patient care. With the aid of a wealthy friend, Adams opens his own medical clinic for those without insurance. He forms a deep bond with fellow medical student Carin Fisher (Monica Potter) before a tragedy causes Adams to re-evaluate his approach.

This pick for our #Medical genre comes from host Drew.  A very personal favorite of his that he decided to share with his pals.  The guys discuss the music, history of the real Patch Adams and his thoughts on the movie, the characters development throughout the movie, touching moments and yes... maybe one or two plot holes.  But that doesn't detour our discussion at all, we stick with it.  Now grab your fake red nose, slap on some goofy shoes and take a trip with us through the hospital.

Episode 61- Last of the Mohicans (1992)03 Jun 202001:17:31

The last members of a dying Native American tribe, the Mohicans -- Uncas (Eric Schweig), his father Chingachgook (Russell Means), and his adopted half-white brother Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis) -- live in peace alongside British colonists. But when the daughters (Madeleine Stowe, Jodhi May) of a British colonel are kidnapped by the traitorous scout Magua (Wes Studi), Hawkeye and Uncas must rescue them in the crossfire of a gruesome military conflict of which they wanted no part: the French and Indian War. Host Nathan brings the guys one hell of a movie!  Take us back to the French & Indian war with Daniel Day-Lewis and Wes Studi.  The discussion today ranges from the amazing scenery, cinematography, music and of course... the battle scenes.  Character development over the film and just having some great love for Wes Studi and even some insight from a little reading of the novel outside of watching the movie.  Our War (what is it good for?) genre is perfectly honored to showcase this film.   We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. Modern-day New York City is the location of "The Gathering", where Connor and the few remaining immortals must battle to the last for "The Prize".

Here we have long-lived lives, romances, heartache, people losing their heads and... an Egpytian living in Spain with a Scottish accent?  Yep, it couldn't be anything other than Highlander.  The guys discuss the costuming, casting, swordplay, and yes... the amazing music of Queen in this episode.  Plus some creative and... personal segments towards the end. You won't be disappointed for our Sword & Sorcery genre brought to us by Host Jack!

When Los Angeles private eye J.J. "Jake" Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired by Evelyn Mulwray to investigate her husband's activities, he believes it's a routine infidelity case. Mr. Mulwray's sudden death sets Gittes on a tangled trail of corruption, deceit and sinister family secrets as Evelyn's father (John Huston) becomes a suspect in the case.

Snooping, Water, Family Secrets and Murder are just the tip of the iceberg for the Reel Feels Boys as they discuss "Chinatown".  We cover the characters, the director, music, cinematography... we leave nothing to chance!  Drew brings up Who Framed Roger Rabbit, while there's a "chili pepper in the candy jar" moment with some touchy issues, all the while going over just how nostalgic and seemingly untouched the film noir genre is nowadays.  Don't miss out, we'll have our secretary call you back after our smoke break and taking incriminating pictures. Forget about it... It's Reel Feels Pod!

Nathan has chosen a movie... a movie which brought on TOO MANY FEELS for hosts Drew and Jack... and they're not happy about it.  However in the end, this is an episode that recounts laughs, deep thoughts and emotions that have dug in deep.  There's some laughter about the "what if" of time travel possibilities, quickfire choices from Nathan and childhood memories to wrap up the episode.  Let's start the episode... wouldn't you say it's... about time?

Episode 57- Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983)10 Apr 202001:07:00

The stages of life are told through multiple sketches and songs by the British comedy troupe. The seven parts of life cover birth, growing up, war, middle age, organ transplants, old age and death. Not all stages are singular: "Part I: The Miracle of Birth" is from the perspective of an ignored woman in labor, and of a Roman Catholic couple with too many children, and "Part VII: Death" encompasses a funeral and heaven. Added are three unrelated skits placed in the beginning, middle and end.

It is a laugh riot as the boys discuss a childhood favorite of host Jack's!  The disconnected scenes, quotable lines and pure essence of British humor is abounds for these hosts and YOUR ears!

It's time for our "Foreign" genre and host Drew decides to bring a movie back from his teen years to share with the guys.  Definitely a cult favorite for many out there and ringing true to having "connections" towards The Hunger Games and other movies that followed in this cult classics footsteps! Cookies, far too many names to remember, stupid weapons and freak flags are just the beginning of what we discuss!  Join us wont you?

Recruiting an elite group of lawmen who won't be swayed by bribes or fear, including Irish-American cop Jimmy Malone (Sean Connery), Ness renews his determination to bring Capone to justice.

What are you prepared to do?  Listen?  THEN what are you prepared to do?  That's right, the Reel Feels Boys are "doin some good" and reviewing "The Untouchables"!  Covering this fun gangster themed film is just what hosts Drew, Jack and Nathan needed.  From the details about casting, costumes and camera work... to the lines connecting towards other great films there isn't anything you'll wanna miss! The guys even celebrate this recording with a drink to remember those days of prohibition. Thus endeth the lesson.

Episode 51- Patreon- A Knight's Tale (2001)15 Jan 202000:56:51

Peasant-born William Thatcher (Heath Ledger) begins a quest to change his stars, win the heart of an exceedingly fair maiden (Shanynn Sossamon) and rock his medieval world. With the help of friends (Mark Addy, Paul Bettany, Alan Tudyk), he faces the ultimate test of medieval gallantry -- tournament jousting -- and tries to discover if he has the mettle to become a legend. It's a Patreon Choice movie today, from our good friend David!  He's chosen 2001's "A Knight's Tale"!  This movie has it all: jousting, love, choosing your own path, besting the bad guy, wealth, fame and... a modern soundtrack?  There's enough laughs from the boys to go around as we truly appreciate this fun-filled cast and host chosen segments.   We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens.  But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.

Episode 50- Patreon- What About Bob? (1991)01 Jan 202000:43:15

Before going on vacation, self-involved psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) has the misfortune of taking on a new patient: Bob Wiley (Bill Murray). An exemplar of neediness and a compendium of phobias, Bob follows Marvin to his family's country house. Dr. Marvin tries to get him to leave; the trouble is, everyone love Bob. As his oblivious patient makes himself at home, Dr. Marvin loses his professional composure and, before long, may be ready for the loony bin himself. We start 2020 off right with our first Patreon movie pick for Season 2 and we get this very clever 90's comedy!  The guys discuss the antics of Bob Wiley as he basically torments Leo and charms everyone else in his life.  A bit of commentary on other Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss films is also had.  While towards the end, the boys discuss some of their own "issues" in their lives to allow some baby steps towards a better life.  We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle.  We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens.  But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you.
