| Reel Comic Heroes 078 - The Punisher with Andy Nelson | 28 Aug 2019 | 01:45:48 | |
Reel Comic Heroes 078 - The Punisher
Frank Castle is not a complex man. He is on a one-man mission to destroy organized crime because his family was taken from him by the same sort of criminals he targets every night as The Punisher. Frank Castle is a man of few words. He has no friends. And sooner or later he will die, but he will take out as many criminals as possible before that happens. Dolph Lundgren plays the isolated, stoic and wounded side of Frank Castle possibly better than anyone else has cinematically. Whether this is considered to be a good movie or not, one thing is certain, Dolph Lundgren brought Frank Castle to life on the big screen. Joining us for The Punisher is Andy Nelson from The Next Reel and Marvel Movie Minute.
Shout out to listeners Michael Tanner, Bryon Lockheart, Samuel Holloway and a special thanks to Jérémie Damoiseau. Jérémie is working on a book, The Punisher: The Untold Story of the ’89 Cult Classic and has shared with us an excerpt from the introduction to his book. You can hear Travis read Jérémie's excerpt at the end of this episode. We will let you know when the book is available! | Reel Comic Heroes 057 - Howard the Duck with Courtney Wheaton | 14 Feb 2018 | 01:50:35 | |
It’s a classic tale of a duck being transported to another universe and experiencing human life in Cleveland. In this episode we’re revisiting Howard the Duck and trying to determine if nostalgia is really a good thing. Courtney returns to help us figure this one out. She previously joined us for Terminator which is also a movie about someone being transported from another time and place to Earth. We’d love to know what the Citizens think of Howard The Duck - so be sure to send in feedback we can share on a future episode. A sarcastic humanoid duck is pulled from his homeworld to Earth where he must stop a hellish alien invasion with the help of a nerdy scientist and a cute struggling female rock singer who fancies him.

| Reel Comic Heroes 056 - Aliens with Andy DiGenova | 31 Jan 2018 | 02:38:37 | |
The last time we saw Ellen Ripley, she was settling in for a long nap after all of her crewmates were hunted and killed by an alien xenomorph. We’re joining her as she wakes up from her sleep to discover she’s slept longer than she intended and discovers a new colony is overrun with xenomorphs. Joining us on Ripley’s trip back to LV-426 is Andy DiGenova from Holy BatCast. Let’s hope we make it through the night, which as we know, is mostly when they come out. Mostly. 57 years later, Ellen Ripley is rescued by a deep salvage team during her hypersleep. The moon from the original movie has been colonized, but contact is lost. This time, colonial marines have impressive firepower, but will that be enough? Send in any thoughts or feedback on this episode to reelcomicheroes@gmail.com and we’ll share them in a future episode.

| Reel Comic Heroes - 2017 Movies by Minutes: Chicago | 27 Aug 2017 | 00:11:41 | |
We’re just a couple of road-weary travelers who left the Reel Comics Lair to meet some other podcasters this weekend. We attended 2017 Movies by Minutes: Chicago. As you may know, the Movies by Minutes format of podcasting was established by Pete the Retailer and Alex Robinson of Star Wars Minute. A following of likeminded podcasters grew quickly. Other shows adopted and adapted the MxM format and applied to other movie franchises such as Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, The Fifth Element and so many more. We recorded this quick bonus episode from the car on the way back to Indianapolis (please forgive the road noise). We just wanted to get our thoughts recorded on our experience. Thanks to all the wonderful folks we got to meet. Check out moviesbyminutes.com to see the amazing list of podcasts. Your favorite movie is probably on the list.

| Reel Comic Heroes 047 - Star Trek III: The Search for Spock with Scott Carelli | 16 Aug 2017 | 02:24:43 | |
Welcome back Citizens, to another space-faring adventure! This episode we’re defying orders and logic to seek out an old friend. We’re talking all about Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. We couldn’t do it alone, so we enlisted the help of Scott Carelli from Dueling Genre. Scott is a podcasting powerhouse. He is the host of multiple ‘Movies by Minutes’ shows and also runs a network which provides many other podcasts a place to call home. We had a lot of fun and got to know the original crew of the Enterprise quite a bit more. And we’re happy to report that the “only even numbered Trek movies are good” is a garbage statement. Send in any thoughts or feedback on this episode to reelcomicheroes@gmail.com and we’ll share them in a future episode. Please take a moment and rate us on iTunes and share the show!
