My guest today is Todd Burke who has been recording and mixing records and underscores in Los Angeles for over 25 years. His album credits include Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, The Kooks, Belle and Sebastian, M83, and Fitz and the Tantrums.

More recently, he has been enjoying mixing Atmos versions of records by Albert Hammond Jr, Christina Perri, and Jeff Goldblum and working as a Score Mixer. A few notable films include The Big Sick, Daddy's Home 1 & 2, Second Act, I Feel Pretty, The Lovebirds, Stargirl, The King of Staten Island, Yes Day, and The Bubble. My guest today is Brad Wood, a producer originally from Chicago where he had Idful Music Corporation - a small but mighty recording studio in Wicker Park. There he recorded albums by bands like Seam, Tar, Shrimp Boat and Eleventh Dream Day. In 1993 he produced Exile In Guyville for Liz Phair which became the catalyst for what became a very long and prosperous career as a producer and mixer.

Brad wrapped up the 90's with many debut albums under his belt, including Sunny Day Real Estate's Diary, Veruca Salt's American Thighs, Placebo's self-titled LP, Placebo, and Ben Lee's Grandpaw Would. He also notably produced the Original Broadway Cast Recording for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Throughout the iconic decade, Brad also worked with bands such as Far, that dog., Menthol, Pete Yorn, and The Smashing Pumpkins' Adore (which peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 charts).

Later Brad relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he built Seagrass Studio where he's tracked and mixed for Say Anything, mewithoutyou, The Bangles, Sherwood, Touché Amoré, and many other artists. I am excited to have Brad back on the podcast again. You can catch his earlier episode RSR095 when he talked about his work in Chicago and moving to LA. Today we will catch up with Brad to see what's new at Seagrass Studio and talk about producing and mixing in Atmos among other things.

My guest today is Steve Genewick a Grammy-nominated recording engineer with 30 years of experience, both as a studio and live recording and mix engineer. Steve has had the pleasure of working at iconic recording studios around the world such as United Recording, East West Studios, Sunset Sound and Village Recorders in Los Angeles, Abbey Road and Angel studios in London and La Fabrique Studios in France.

For 20 years, Steve had the great honor of working alongside the legendary 23-time Grammy award-winning producer and engineer, Al Schmitt. They worked with artists such as Diana Krall, Chris Botti, Gladys Knight, Neil Young, George Benson, Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach and Paul McCartney. Steve also joined Al for "Mix With The Masters" seminars for nine years in the south of France, in addition to collaborating on their instructional film "The Art of Recording a Big Band".

Steve worked primarily out of the famed Capitol Studios in Hollywood as a staff engineer from 1994 to 2022. At Capitol, he worked with countless renowned artists such as Elton John, Bastille and Trisha Yearwood. Steve was among the first studio mixers to begin mixing music in Dolby Atmos, working on projects with Beck, Gregory Porter, LL Cool J, Sam Smith and Niall Horan, and on the popular video game Apex Legends.

In 2017, Steve received the Pensado Award for Best Recording Engineer. He was also a part of the Universal Audio and Capitol Studios team that won a 2020 TEC Award for their Capitol Chambers plugin.

My guest today is Sara Carter, a BBC trained mixing engineer based in Leicester (pronounced "lester") in the UK. Sara started recording and mixing music as a hobby in the mid-90s then later turned it into a full-time career after studying Audio Engineering at the SAE Institute in London and working as a Sound Engineer for the BBC.

Sara learned her trade at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios by working under the mentorship of some of the best engineers in the business. During this time, Sara worked with a wide variety of artists such as Adele, The Black Keys and Rod Stewart to name a few. More recently she focuses on helping home studio musicians mix music at home through her training courses, coaching sessions and YouTube channel, Simply Mixing.

Joe is a graduate of Belmont University where he also now teaches. He joined the Audio Engineering Technology department at The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business as an adjunct in 2010, Fulltime Lecturer in 2013 and Instructor in 2019. He is now the Director of Studio Operations at Ocean Way Nashville, designed by Allen Sides and purchased by Belmont in 2001, and the number one tracking room in Nashville and a world-class teaching facility that also serves an impressive client roster.

He thought he'd become a park ranger, but his love of guitar and music sent Dave to Belmont University in Nashville. He started a band (The Coal Men, still active after 24 years), had a brief publishing deal with Acuff-Rose Music, played for years with Duane Jarvis, and a long list of Nashville's roots and Americana artists. Producing, recording, and mixing became his day to day around 2010. He's a self described "multi-instrumentalist with a community-driven heart."

Dave has produced and recorded albums for Amelia White, Tim Carroll, The Rough & Tumble, Lynn Taylor and the BarFlies, Ned Hill, and lots more. The Coal Men, have released 5 albums, with another coming in 2024. I have had the pleasure of knowing Dave for many years and in 2013 worked with Dave here at The Toy Box Studio doing overdubs and mixing his record Escalator.

My guest today is John Arrucci, an acclaimed master artist in Classical, Jazz, North Indian, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Brazilian and other indigenous traditions and someone I first met when he moved to Nashville to build his studio. Having composed, performed, and instructed for over 40 years, John has studied on three continents and received numerous honors.

His work as drummer and percussionist is featured on scores for feature films, television, commercial spots and recordings including on Sony, Polygram, Mercury, Chesky, Koch Jazz, Chiaroscuro, Rykodisc and other labels. He has performed and/or recorded with Michael Brecker, John Patittucci, Mariah Carey, David Byrne, Philip Glass Ensemble, and for Dalai Lama, Bishop Desmond Tutu and many other dignitaries and has performed at notable venues such as Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Merkin Hall and United Nations.

His percussion can be found on programs including Patriot, Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnell.

As a composer, John has received numerous commissions, grants and awards from members of The New York Philharmonic, The Manhattan Marimba Quartet, The Mannes College of Music and many others. His acclaimed 2011 release "Metaphors" features 9 of his compositions and performances on Drum Set, Vibes, Marimba and Percussion.

John taught for over 20 years at Princeton University, the City University of New York, and many other prominent institutions including an Eastman School of Music where he graduated with distinction. The Smithsonian Institution awarded him a Post-Doctoral level research fellowship to study Tabla in Benares, India with Pandit Sharda Sahai. He has also studied music in Brazil, and Shekere and Agbe with the renowned Chief James Hawthorne Bey, and Conga and Afro-Cuban drumming with Frank Malabe and Tabla with Robert Becker.

He has basically done a tremendous amount of music and finally landed in Nashville, Tennessee making himself available for in-studio and remote recording, live performances, touring, commissions and Master Classes, one of which I recently took to learn Samba drumming which was amazing!

My guest today is Brandon Highfill, head engineer at Schematic Studios and the owner of Eastside Music Supply here in Nashville, TN. Originally from Jacksonville, FL Brandon moved here in 2009 and with his friend and bandmate Blair, started Eastside Music Supply in 2014.

Brandon played guitar in bands since high school and was always fascinated with the recording process but didn't really catch the "bug" until he set out to build a practice space for himself in 2016 which morphed into a full-blown studio as he became obsessed with making the room sound good and building it right the first time. This quickly led to sell more than half of his pedal collection to invest in a small handful of microphones, an interface, his first analog mixer and a Tascam 388.

Brandon was hooked and gone were the days of making music in his bedroom as it became less about recording his own music and more about recording anything at all. "I just wanted practice and it became like a drug honestly".

My guest today is Nathan Yarborough, a heavy rock and metal music producer, engineer, and mixer who started out in North Carolina with a Tascam 4 track studying recording in college and finding his way to Nashville to intern at Sony/Tree and Blackbird Studios where he worked for eight years with some of the greatest engineers like Vance Powell, Niko Bolas, George Massenburg, Joe Chiccarelli and many others.

My guest today is Jacquire King, a Grammy-winning music producer, mixer, and engineer with over 13 billion streams and more than 35 Grammy nominations. His extensive credits include: Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, James Bay, Shania Twain, Modest Mouse, Smash Mouth, Norah Jones, Buddy Guy, Zach Bryan, Punch Brothers, Ingrid Michelson, Cold War Kids, City and Colour and many many more. And I'm going to quote from his great website bio: "Jacquire has just one gold record hanging in his studio. It's Mule Variations by Tom Waits, a personal favorite in the mile-long list of critically acclaimed albums, multiple GRAMMY Awards, and national accolades he's earned in more than 30 years as a sought-after recording engineer and producer."

He grew up in the Washington, DC area, absorbing a rich mix of influences from reggae to punk rock. While his friends were forming hardcore bands, Jacquire was studying the noise, making cassette mixes, and learning to transform raw live music into a complex listening experience.

If he maintains one constant aesthetic in his work, it's blending traditional recording artistry with emerging tools and technology. "Curiosity moves an art form forward, so I incorporate whatever gives the artist the freedom to create. I always want to be part of that evolution."

Jacquire is committed to playing an active role in the recording industry's next chapter, serving as an ambassador for new technology and acting as a frequent mentor to up-and-coming professionals. "I don't have any studio secrets," he said. "If I can help someone figure out their own combination of talent and technology, I want to do that. If I can give an artist a new tool to make something great, count me in."

Jimmy began as a teenager at Atlantic Records in New York, making tape copies and quietly slipping into the back of sessions, where he learned by watching giants like Tom Dowd, Arif Mardin, and Jerry Wexler. My guest today is Orlando Torres a mixer/engineer based in the Los Angeles area who has worked with legendary musicians, including Abraham Laboriel, Joey DeFrancesco, Alex Acuña, Justo Almario, percussionist Ron Powell, Lee Rocker (Stray Cats) and Little Willie G. But he is equally proud of his work with up-and-coming local bands and artists.

Orlando has worked on television productions that include an Emmy nominated song for The Young And The Restless and ADR cutting for Law & Order. In 2019 he worked with Kobe Bryant at his Granity Studios as a recording engineer for Kobe's ESPN Detail and as an audio editor for The Punies podcast.

I met Orlando at our NAMM 2023 meetup and learned that he has a unique story which includes immigrating from Mexico with his family and becoming a naturalized citizen as part of his life and career journey. My guest today is Sam Sherbin, a mixing engineer based in Los Angeles, California. First cutting his teeth at various studios in New York City, he went on to develop his skills under the mentorship of the late Bruce Swedien at his home studio in Florida. Since then, Sam has scored cuts with international stars like CL, Stray Kids, Rachel Platten, Ebony Obsidian and more. He collaborates closely with the likes of multi-platinum producer and composer Nick Lee, expanding Sam's footprint in both music and network television shows like NBC's Grand Crew.

I ran into Sam at NAMM and am excited for us to dive into learning more about mixing and particularly mixing pop and bass music. My guest today is Jermaine Stegall, a film composer and conductor. With over 50 projects to his credit, Jermaine most well-known for the score to "Coming 2 America", the highly anticipated sequel to the Eddie Murphy classic, with Murphy, Arsenio Hall and James Earl-Jones all reprising their roles. Jermaine recently completed the score for "Praise This" for Universal Pictures. Other scoring and conducting assignments have included "Senior Year" (2022) for Paramount Pictures, and the upcoming film "Oracle" for Universal Pictures.

As a musical conductor, Stegall led a live string orchestra alongside Grammy-winning artist Tori Kelly at the televised 2019 ESPY Awards. A year prior, he conducted the orchestra to Camila Cabello's performance of "Consequences" on ABC's American Music Awards. In addition to scoring 2 seasons of "Our Star Wars Stories," an original digital series from Lucasfilm and StarWars.com, in which host Jordan Hembrough uncovers heartfelt tales of fans and families who have found inspiration in the galaxy far, far away, Jermaine was also nominated for a MPSE Golden Reel Award for scoring the animated Netflix short film "Canvas" directed by Pixar's Frank Abney III.

My guests today are Nick Townsend and J Clark joining us from Infrasonic West in Los Angeles.

Nick Townsend's musical prowess is rooted in the punk rock scene. He began drumming for punk bands at the age of 16, and has been playing professionally ever since. His trained ears, and passion for music production, is owed to recording bands in his grandmother's garage. He attended the Audio Engineering School at Citrus College in Glendora, CA. He then landed his first audio job with Infrasonic Mastering in 2012 where he assisted Pete Lyman, while simultaneously learning the craft of vinyl mastering and lacquer cutting. Soon thereafter, he started his own Townsend Mastering until 2021 when he rejoined Infrasonic Los Angeles. Nick has mastered records for The Egyptian Lover, Militarie Gun, No Pressure, Fleshwater, Spanish Love Songs and many more, and specializes in vinyl mastering and lacquer cutting of over 2,000 vinyl records including artists such as Cheap Trick, Paramore, Weezer, Iron Maiden, Bad Religion, Garbage, Dr. Dre, 2pac, Grimes and more. His work can be identified by the hand scribed "NT" found on the lock groove of each vinyl.

J Clark is an engineer, mixer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, CA. He spent the majority of the late 90's and 2000's playing and touring in the bands Pretty Girls Make Graves, Killsadie, Jaguar Love, and Sharks Keep Moving. After moving to Los Angeles in 2010, he began composing music for ads and movies before expanding into post production; Re-Recording mixing, Sound Design, and Dialogue editing for film and television. In late 2020 he began mixing and mastering music in Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA. His spatial credits include artists such as Jennifer Lopez, MK, The Hold Steady, Nelly, Nicky Jam, Marc Anthony, and many others. J's studio was designed and built in collaboration with PMC Loudspeakers, Dolby Laboratories, and Sony Home Entertainment and boasts an impressive 24 speakers! It's built to handle the present and future of multichannel sound for music, picture and gaming offering an 11.1.6 ATMOS and a 13.1 Sony360 array for the most precise playback and detail of your immersive projects.

My guest today is Raelynn Janicke, a mastering engineer and the studio manager for Infrasonic Mastering, based in Nashville, TN. Before joining Infrasonic in 2019, Raelynn worked at Tommy's Tracks, where she fulfilled a variety of roles alongside owner Tommy Wiggins including mastering and archival. Raelynn has mastered and assisted on projects for The Shins, Kayla Hall, Nefesh Mountain, Talia Stewart, Big 50, and Eli Howard.

Raelynn got her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences, with Concentrations in Audio Engineering and Computer Science, from The Rochester Institute of Technology. Much like her career thus far, Raelynn's path to her degree was self-made. She was initially drawn to the practicality of a job in computer programming, but switched majors halfway through her program after assisting on a college a cappella record. From there, she discovered the school's modest audio program, created an individualized degree, and threw in minors in history and music technology, just to keep things interesting.

Raelynn brings this level of enthusiasm and exploration to every project she works on at Infrasonic Mastering, both as manager and engineer.

She describes herself on her website as a "Mastering Engineer Who Loves Tacos and Is Taller Than Danny Devito." Thanks to F Reid Shippen for connecting us.

My guest today is Joe Pisapia a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work as a member of Guster and k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang. He co-produced and co-wrote Guster's 2006 release, Ganging Up On the Sun, an album that cracked Billboard's Top 25 and was one of the best selling internet albums of the year. He did the same on the band's 2010 Easy Wonderful. He produced and penned the title track for Lang's 2011 album, Sing It Loud, and acted as music director for the accompanying tour.

As a producer and mixer Joes credits include: Ben Folds Five's, The Hush Kids, Zac Clark, Drew Holcolmb, Chuck Mead, Josh Rouse, Courtney Jaye, Matt Wertz, William Tyler, The Silver Seas and The Pierces and when the Grammy Award-winning band Fun needed orchestral recording for its Grammy performance, they called on Joe.

Originally from New Jersey Joe moved to Nashville with his band Joe Mark's Brother in the 90s with whom he has made beautiful sounding records and Joe has continued to record as a solo artist producing from his own studio Middle Tree in East Nashville.

His 2002 release Daydreams was given four stars and called "stellar" by AllMusic.com. Ron Sexsmith called 2015's Nightvision, "amazing" and the "best thing" he's "heard in a long time."

In 2016 Pisapia collaborated with singer/ songwriter Kate York for the duet E.P. "Kate York And Joe Pisapia." and in 2018 Joe released two full length solo albums. "Connection" and "Cosmic Christmas".

In 2019 Pisapia recorded his first instrumental album, "Imbolc." For a 2020 release of the album, he made music "videos," which consisted of him making some of his favorite comfort foods. Joe also produced much of, and mixed all of Pam Tillis' "Looking For A Feeling." Tillis cut Pisapia's song "Better Friends," which was originally released on his solo album, "Connection." NPR's Ann Powers singled out Tillis' version of "Better Friends" calling it a "quintessential country song." Also in 2019 Joe produced Jillette Johnson's "It's A Beautiful Day And I Love You," and was part of the live ensemble whom recorded the album "Outside Child" by Allison Russell, produced by Dan Knobler which Joe described as "tantamount to a holy experience."

My guest today is Todd Lombardo, an ACM acoustic session guitar player-of-the-year nominee, producer and songwriter living in Nashville TN. Most notably known for his contributions to Kacey Musgraves "Golden Hour". He is also responsible for Canadian platinum productions as well as numerous number one country hits as a session player.

I first met Todd when he brought the artist Mickey Cash over to The Toy Box Studio for me to mix. I was struck by his great production ideas, arrangement decisions, and guitar playing. Years later we reconnected over at Craig Alvins East Nashville studio which he occupies now. It also turned out we were both interested in weird stuff beyond music like Wim Hof and cold exposure Ice Baths for good health and ultimately we became neighbors.

My guest today is Hugh Macdonald aka Fairhazel a British/South African singer songwriter, artist, and producer born in Brighton but raised in London, Cape Town and Paris. Hugh left Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2018 returning to London to work with Communion Music under the name Fairhazel, releasing his first single 7x7 in February 2018 to critical acclaim. Roisin O'Connor of The Independent described it as having "tender, whispering vocals that recall the likes of Villagers, Ben Howard and Sufjan Stevens". Inspired by artists France Gall, Harry Nilsson and Andy Shauf among others, Fairhazel has established himself as a musical storyteller blurring the lines between fiction and true stories.

At his Los Angeles studio, he works on creating all aspects of his music himself from songwriting to arrangement, production, and engineering. He also frequently produces and mixes music, primarily rock, folk, jazz, pop and soul. Although Fairhazel is a solo venture, a band often accompanies him at shows and he has opened for Agnes Obel, Banfi and Astræa. Recently he played Whispering Bob Harris's Under the Apple Tree, and featured thrice on the lineup of the Counting Crows Underwater Sunshine Festival. As well as the Fairhazel project, Hugh runs a monthly live music event with his wife, Danielle, soon to be growing into a day long monthly festival. Hugh and Danielle also direct, shoot and edit music videos for independent artists.

I met Hugh back in 2019 when he came through Nashville at 21 years old and we did a live stream for our Youtube channel where Hugh wrote a song on the spot using lyrics from you Rockstars in the comments and everything was recorded on the Roswell Pro Audio Delphos and Colares mics. And Hugh has since worked with me a couple of years as the head videographer for our NAMM videos in Anaheim CA.

My guest today is Chuck Ainlay, a four time Grammy winner with Ten ACM, Two CMA's Awards & Two Tech Awards. Chuck has over thirty five hundred credits to his name, including work with legendary and defining country music artists such as; George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Steve Earle, Lee Ann Womack, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris and The Chicks.

Chuck has placed his distinctive production and engineering stamp on projects with more mainstream artists such as Dire Straits and nearly the entire solo career of Mark Knopfler as well as Peter Frampton, Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie, Ann Wilson, James Taylor, Jewel, Bob Seger, Pentatonix and Sheryl Crow.

His work in immersive mixing has resulted in ground-breaking projects such as the 25th and 35th anniversary remix of Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive and the Grammy award-winning 20th anniversary remix of the Dire Straits album Brothers In Arms.

He is currently serving as Trustee for the Nashville chapter of the Recording Academy and numerous terms as a Governor. He has chaired the Nashville P&E Wing and is the current Co-Chair the Recording Academy P&E Wing National Steering committee. Chuck has been a co-author of the majority of the P&E Wing Guidelines and recommendations. Chuck is also currently on the board of directors for the Country Music Association. Belmont University awarded Chuck with the Robert E. Mulloy Award of Excellence.

My guest today is Joakeem Gaston a Boston-born musician, producer and photographer growing up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and a graduate of the Full Sail recording program. As a first-generation American of Haitian immigrants, Joakeem was exposed to a variety of artists, music and people. Hearing different languages and different genres were hand in hand with his upbringing. Through his networking skills he learned in High School he was able to land at iZotope where he worked on the Customer Care and Artist Relations team.

I met Joakeem through his time working with iZotope and we got to connect at AES 2022 when I heard some of the cool vocal featured groove-based music he was creating. Joakeem is both musically and technically proficient in creating music on the computer so I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more about some of the cool things that he learned at iZotope and talk about how he is making his tracks. I use iZotope all the time (and a ton for this podcast) but I also know there are many other musical uses we could learn about.

My guest today is Tom Lord-Alge aka TLA a Multi Grammy winning mixer who started out as a young engineer in New York like his older brother Chris Lord Alge. Tom began his career as a touring lighting director before being thrown into the FOH seat when the original FOH engineer went ill.

After 5 years of touring, Tom moved his focus to studio work and with his brother Chris worked at Unique Recording in New York. Then he was the resident mixer at what used to be known as "South Beach Studios", located on the ground floor of the Marlin Hotel in Miami Beach Florida.

TLA received two Grammy Awards for his work on Steve Winwood's Back in the High Life (1986), and Roll with It (1988), both winning in the 'Best Engineered Recording – Non-Classical' category. His third Grammy was for Santana's Supernatural (1999), which won Album of the Year.

Tom has mixed records for U2, Simple Minds, The Rolling Stones, Pink, Peter Gabriel, OMD, Sarah McLachlan, Dave Matthews Band, Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Hanson, Sum 41, Live, The Wallflowers, Weezer, Manic Street Preachers, New Found Glory, Story of the Year and Marilyn Manson, among others.

He now resides in Austin Texas where he has built 2 mixing rooms. SPANK Studios ATX houses TLA's SSL 4064G+ console and ORG Studios ATX houses TLA's SSL Origin console.

Jacob is the founder, owner, musical director, and head engineer of ModernTone - a full-service recording studio and music education facility in Lafayette, CA. Jacob runs the studio with his team of pro session musicians, producers, audio engineers, and educators. Together they cater to recording artists, bands, aspiring musicians and music students of all ages and levels. I met with Jacob at NAMM 2022 and we got to hang out my the poolside bar and talk studio stuff. My guest today is Kevin Paul an audio engineer, mixer, and mastering engineer who worked with the Kinks at their studio before moving to Mute records to become head engineer. While there worked with pretty much every artist on the label including Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp, Erasure, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Luke Slater and many many more.

He also worked with David Bowie and recorded his album Hours and after leaving Mute records began working for Apple and iTunes in their festival season where they recorded and mixed Bruno Mars, Adele, Ed Sherran, and Fleet Foxes among many many others. Kevin recorded and worked with Nick Cave for over 10 years and run his own online mixing mastering service.

He is also the host of the podcast "Mixbus with Kevin Paul" and has lectured for over 15 years on surround sound mixing and now atmos/immersive.

My guest today is Colin Scharf a songwriter, producer, filmmaker, author, event organizer, occasional actor, and English professor living in Mankato, Minnesota.

He moved from NYC to Mankato Minnesota and has an indie rock band with his wife called Good Night Gold Dust. Conlin has been on the podcast before to talk about his discovery of this podcast in 2020 and how it helped him make his best record ever to produce his first major album: a holiday compilation featuring musicians from my city performing standard and original songs.

Colin has also produced over a dozen short films and starred as Buddy Holly in the biographical musical Buddy! The Buddy Holly Story (2016, 2022). He is the recipient of numerous arts grants, including a 2021 Minnesota State Arts Board grant, and the author of two young adult novels.

In February 2021, Colin officially opened Gold Mine Studios. Since then, he has produced numerous albums, EPs, and singles for local bands, including the Golden Hour Live Album, which features live recordings of 14 Mankato-area artists that performed during Colin's summer 2022 Golden Hour Concert Series. Colin has also produced promotional videos for the Mankato chapter of the American Lung Association and Open Arts Minnesota's Aktion Club Theater.

Colin is also producing the debut albums for his new band Silver Summer and his wife Laura's all-girl band Given Names. These albums will be released on Precious Metals Records, the DIY label Colin founded to help keep track of his and his friends' musical endeavors. "At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what sort of project Colin is involved with; he just wants to create and help others create great art."

My guest today is Nick Bullock a Nashville based producer, engineer, musician, and artist.

One of the many things I was taught as a young man was to follow my curiosity. That curiosity led me to music school, to my band of ten years (and over fifteen hundred shows worldwide), and to my love of recording today. It leads me to ask questions even when I felt stupid asking them. Each and every one of those questions, and the discoveries that came afterwards have led to a wonderful life and relationship with music, and the artists I work with. Following that curiosity is one of the main reasons I'm still in love with music and recording.

Every day I do my best to live by some pretty simple principles; be honest, be present, try to learn something new, help others dig deep to be the best version of themselves they can be, and when in doubt, always reference a Beatles or Stones song (not kidding).

So here I am, living in Nashville, TN, married to the love of my life, Meredith (also an amazing visual artist) with three incredible (and curious) boys. I get to make music every day in one of the greatest studios in the world. Each day is a gift. I'm eternally grateful that I get to create music with some of the best people in the world.
