Three years ago today, we started the Rebel without a Closet Journey. I was adorable once, young and full of hope….so It's with a bittersweet mix of emotions that we come together today to bid farewell to this incarnation of our Queer and Queer Adjacent journey.
Over the course of this series, we've explored the vibrant collections of queer cinema, dived deep into our personal stories, and created a safe haven for open and honest discussions. From Frenchies to Conference tables made of Solid Oak, each episode has been a testament to the resilience, strength, and beauty of LGBTQ+ stories.
So, turn your little self around on those Robert Clergerie Knockoffs with our hearts full of gratitude, and get ready for the final episode. From Port aux Basques to the Moon Kingdom, grab your goblet of red wine and celebrate the moments, community, and friendships that have made this podcast an unforgettable adventure, right here, on Rebel without a Closet.

A Movie so terrible, it changed the way we recorded. For the first time in this podcast's history, I had to postpone a recording. Ten Minutes in, over 30 notes, 5 voice messages, and an IMDb spiral, I couldn't bring myself to press play. So we took a breath, gave it some time, and came back to it, for our first-ever live reaction Audience Watch Along!

Charlie David spends 92 minutes trying to convince the audience that he's a closeted teen blissfully ignorant to destroying the family of his best friend by sleeping with the father who's only 8 years older than him. Shoehorn some Golf references to justify the title and bam. Garbage fire.
We didn't choose the pageant life. The pageant life chose us. Carlotta, Chad and PJ join me in what can only be described as our most chaotic episode to date. Chosen through our audience poll, we cry laugh in terrible Minnesotan accents through a review of the 1999 film Drop Dead Gorgeous.

How do you interpret a film that is so heavy handedly spoon-feeding you metaphors, while still staying mind-numbingly confusing? In what could be our shortest review to a movie that was equal parts 90's as it was Canadian Independent, Bear Sailor Moon, Carlotta and I try to decipher this mess. From bad acting to bi cuckolding, we wonder who gave awards to the strangest movie we've ever seen.
The Hanging Garden (1997) Available on OuttvGo Written and Directed by Thom Fitzgerald, staring Chris Leavins, Kerry Fox, Ian Parsons. William, a once obese and depressed adolescent, is able to move past his teenage years when he moves to the city and comes out as being gay. When he returns home though, he can't cope with his memories.

CAMP (2003) Written and Directed by Todd Graff, starring Daniel Letterle, Joanna Chilcoat, Robin de Jesus (who's IMDb picture is from 2003 btw) and Anna Kendrick. According to IMDb....The Movie is about songwriter Bert Hanley (Dixon), who, after a series of Broadway flops, goes to work at a musical camp for young performers. Inspired by the kids, he finds an opportunity to regain success by staging an altogether new production.
No. Not at all. A group of teens dilute themselves to believe that they have talent in a Queer camp set in the middle of nowhere. While a young queer boy (de Jesus) will hopelessly flirt for almost two hours with the straight male lead (Letterle), who has 4 female love interests because in 2003 "bisexuality isn't a thing." Not even in a gay theatre camp apparently.
I'm on the edge! Joined by Chad and PJ, we come full circle from our Season one Premier with the 1998 teen coming of age story "Edge of Seventeen." Fun fact! Todd Stephens also Wrote "Another Gay Movie." How do we feel about this movie compared to that one? We definitely have thoughts!
