[[REWIND]] [184] Tips for Decluttering Hobbies This Summer11 Jul 202300:29:57

Send us a text

Summertime comes wanting to try out some new hobbies, indoors or outdoors.

I'm pretty sure the kids have probably asked you to go ahead and buy a canoe or new rackets to play racquetball or tennis. Or maybe they wanted to do some knitting or build a Lego castle. And while all that sounds like a lot of fun, it comes with a price. And it comes with space. You have to have somewhere to put all the stuff that comes with these hobbies. So what are you going to do?

How are you going to try out some new hobbies but not have the house be a cluttered mess? That's what we're going to talk about in this episode.

ABOUT DEANNA
Deanna Yates is the founder and CEO of Wannabe Clutter Free and the host of the popular podcast, the Wannabe Minimalist Show, where she helps busy families learn how to let go of the stuff holding them back so they can enjoy more time together, stop spending their weekends cleaning the house, and wake up excited for the day ahead.

Deanna is a mom to an energetic daughter, wife to a startup entrepreneur, and is living her dream life in San Diego, CA. When she's not helping clients realize their dreams, you can find her paddle boarding, searching for the tastiest breakfast burrito, or balancing her love of world travel with her love of snuggling on the couch.

[[REWIND]] [189] Simple Ways to Keep Your Child Safe Online04 Jul 202300:21:18

Send us a text

One thing that gets me during the summertime is how much the kids are on their devices. I feel like the kids are on their devices SO much more than usual. Do you notice this too?

It's really concerning, mainly when they use apps and communicate with others like Instagram and Facebook.  It's scary to think about what some of the kids may be exposed to.

So how can we keep our kids safe online?

How can we do better about monitoring what they're consuming?

How can we ensure they are not being bullied or not getting into content that may be getting them depressed or causing them other mental health issues?

These are all questions that I know you have and have the answers to, thanks to my guest, Cathy.  If you're like me and you want to keep your child safe online this summer, this episode is for you.

[[REWIND]] [172] How to Get Aligned with Your Priorities and Reach Your Goals with 15 Minutes02 May 202300:46:50

Send us a text

Do you feel like there is never enough time in the day to get things done? It doesn't help when you hear gurus tell you to prioritize it and you will get it done. You have so many priorities, and it can get pretty stressful trying to sort things out as a mom. My guest, Cara Harvey, is here to help.

In this episode, we unpack some of the topics in her new book, The 15-Minute Formula. This book is what you need because it is a productivity book geared toward moms. Typically, most productivity books are written by men, which is excellent, but they don't consider many of the struggles of us moms.

In addition, Cara shares her story and how she even got started with A Purpose Driven Mom. And then what led her to write the book, The 15-Minute Formula. She also talked about priorities with us and how to use micro priorities, which was something new that I learned from her. And then, lastly, we talked about seasons. How can we be more aligned in our life by knowing what season we're in and setting things up so that we can be more aligned with the season we're in versus trying to jam-pack our days, weeks, and months with things and burn ourselves out? So if you are looking for different ways of being more productive, you must listen to this episode.

[201] It's Okay to Stop Doing it All21 Mar 202300:20:11

Send us a text

I was talking to a mom that was completely overwhelmed and was almost in tears with all of the demands she had in her life.

She wanted some relief because she hadn’t had a break for weeks. Then after she realized that she was the only one talking, she asked me about what I do for work and what the kids are into.

After telling her that I work full time, I’m a reservist in the Navy, run Real Happy Mom, and started a business with my husband, she looked at me like a unicorn and asked me how I do it all.

The truth is … I don’t. In this episode, I brought my friend, Alicia Cohen, to share how doing it all is robbing us of freedom and happiness. Plus, how we can shift out of doing it all.

ABOUT ALICIA
Alicia Cohen is a wife and homeschooling mom.  She is also a business owner and blogger.  Through her business, Alicia Cohen Designs, she teaches busy moms intentional planning, effective productivity, and essential mindset shifts to increase peace, calm, and confidence while focusing on what matters most.  Alicia built her business based on her own journey of overcoming her overwhelmed and frazzled life -- what she calls the "hamster wheel marathon" -- and now teaches other women the methods she discovered (and uses personally).

[REWIND] [172] How to Get Aligned with Your Priorities and Reach Your Goals with 15 Minutes06 Dec 202200:43:34

Send us a text

Do you feel there is never enough time to get things done in the day? It doesn't help when you hear gurus tell you just make it a priority and you will get it done. You have so many priorities, and it can get pretty stressful trying to sort things out as a mom. My guest, Cara Harvey, is here to help.

In this episode, we unpack some of the topics mentioned in her new book called The 15 Minute Formula. This book is what you need because it is a productivity book geared toward moms. Typically, most productivity books are written by men, which they're great, but they don't take into account a lot of the struggles of us moms.

In addition, Cara shares her story and how she even started with A Purpose Driven Mom. And then what led her to write the book, The 15-Minute Formula. She also talked about priorities with us and how to use micro priorities, which was something new that I learned from her. And then lastly, we talked about seasons and how we can be more aligned in our life by knowing what season we're in and setting things up so that we can be more in alignment with the season we're in versus trying to jam-pack our days, weeks and months with things and burn ourselves out. So if you are looking for ways to be more productive, you have to listen to this episode.

One thing that gets me during the summertime is how much the kids are on their devices. I feel like the kids are on their devices SO much more than usual. Do you notice this too?

It's really concerning, especially when they're using apps and communicating with other people like Instagram and Facebook.  It's scary to think about the things that some of the kids may be exposed to.

So how can we keep our kids safe online?

How can we do better about monitoring what they're consuming?

How can we make sure that they are not being bullied or not getting into content that may be getting them depressed or causing them other mental health issues?

These are all questions that I know you have and have the answers to, thanks to my guest, Cathy.  If you're like me and you want to keep your child safe online this summer, this episode is for you.

[185] How to Escape the Body Comparison Trap This Summer21 Jun 202200:32:27

Send us a text

One of the things that I absolutely love about the summertime is going to the beach. And whenever I go to the beach, I will catch myself looking around and seeing some other women and their cute little swimsuits and thinking, "Oh, well, I don't look as good as she doesn't my swimsuit." Or "I wish I could wear a swimsuit like that, but my stomach would look terrible in that."

Then I start going down this rabbit hole of comparing my body to everyone else's. And you've probably been there and have gotten into this comparison trap, especially when it comes to your bodies. But I want you to know, first of all, that you're not alone.

Today, I'm going to share with you some tips on how we can do better about this comparison game with my guest. We are breaking down some of the ways that we can escape the body comparison trap this summer. So if you're like me, and you want to do better about this comparison trap, stay tuned to this episode.

[184] Tips for Decluttering Hobbies This Summer14 Jun 202200:29:57

Send us a text

Summertime comes wanting to try out some new hobbies, whether it is indoors or outdoors.

I'm pretty sure the kids have probably asked you to go ahead and buy a canoe or buy some new rackets to play racquetball or tennis. Or maybe they wanted to do some knitting or build a Lego castle. And while all of that sounds like a whole lot of fun, it comes with a price. And it comes with space. You have to have somewhere to put all of the stuff that comes with these hobbies. So what are you going to do?

How are you going to try out some new hobbies, but not have the house be a cluttered mess? That's what we're going to talk about in this episode.
