Comment résister aux injonctions des financeurs internationaux et protéger son processus créatif ? Dans cet épisode, la membre de Rawiyat et réalisatrice Assia Tamerdjent accueille sa compatriote et consœur Yasmine Chouikh pour explorer ces questions.

Yasmine Chouikh est une réalisatrice, journaliste et actrice algérienne issue d’une famille de cinéastes et diplômée en psychologie. Elle a signé deux courts métrages, “El Bab” en 2006 et “El Djinn” en 2010, ainsi que la série “Studio 27” en 2015. En 2018, son premier long métrage “Jusqu’à la fin des temps” a été projeté dans plus de 120 festivals et a été sélectionné comme candidat officiel de l’Algérie aux Oscars.

- كيف تشرعين طريقكِ كامرأة مخرجة في نظام سينمائي تسود فيه كل من الرقابة وعدم الاستقرار؟ كيف تصمدين أمام متطلبات الممولين الدوليين وتحافظين على مسار إبداعكِ ؟ في هذه الحلقة، تستضيف عضوة راويات والمخرجة آسيا تمرجانت مواطنتها وزميلتها ياسمين شويخ لاستكشاف هذه التساؤلات.

ياسمين شويخ هي مخرجة وصحفية وممثلة جزائرية تنحدر من عائلة سينمائية، وحاصلة على شهادة في علم النفس. أخرجت فيلمين قصيرين، "الباب" سنة 2006 و"الجن" سنة 2010، بالإضافة إلى السلسلة التلفزيونية "ستوديو 27" سنة 2015. في عام 2018، عرض أول أفلامها الطويلة "إلى آخر الزمان" في أكثر من 120 مهرجانًا، وقد تم اختياره كمرشح رسمي للجزائر لجوائز الأوسكار.

In this special Cannes episode, Zoulikha Tahar speaks with Erige Sehiri about her documentary practice and how it nourishes her fiction. An episode that puts the real front and center, recorded during Doc Day at the Marché du Film on May 20, 2025.

Erige Sehiri is a French-Tunisian director whose work blends documentary realism and narrative cinema. She directed Railway Men (2018) and Under the Fig Trees (2022), which premiered at Cannes Directors' Fortnight. Her second feature, Promised Sky, premiered at this year's Cannes Un Certain Regard.

Cynthia Sawma welcomes Myriam el Hajj

What makes a story timeless? Can an Arabic film ever be truly apolitical?Can a story about men ever exist without being a story about women? And what happens when we shift the gaze? Lebanese filmmaker Cynthia Sawma welcomes Rawiyat member Myriam Hage to explore these questions and more—reclaiming narratives and centering women’s voices in cinema.

Myriam el Hajj is a Lebanese filmmaker. Her second feature documentary, Diaries from Lebanon, premiered at the Berlinale Panorama in 2024. She also teaches film at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts and is a member of several film commissions, including the CNC. Myriam is also a founding member of Rawiyat.

Bahia Bencheikh El Fegoun, géologue et cinéaste algérienne, interroge la déshumanisation des débats, et offre une réponse plus intime à l’évolution des sociétés. Ses films donnent à voir différentes formes de contestations dans la quête universelle de l’égalité. Résidente de la Villa Albertine à l’automne 2022, puis de la Casa Velàzquez (2023-2024), Bahia poursuit actuellement ses recherches sur la figure de la sorcière.

بهية بن الشيخ لفقون، عالمة جيولوجيا وسينمائية جزائرية، تتناول مسألة نزع الصفة الإنسانية عن النقاشات، مقدمةً رؤية أكثر حميمية لتطور المجتمعات. تعكس أفلامها أشكالًا مختلفة من الاحتجاجات في السعي العالمي نحو المساواة. كانت مقيمة في فيلا ألبرتين خلال خريف 2022، ثم في كازا فيلازكيز (2023-2024)، وتواصل حاليًا أبحاثها حول شخصية الساحرة.

Assia Boundaoui is an Algerian-American investigative journalist and filmmaker. Her award-winning feature-length directorial debut, The Feeling of Being Watched, a documentary investigating a decade of FBI surveillance in Assia's Arab American community, had its world premiere at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and was nationally broadcast on PBS “POV.”

Hend Bakr is a director and producer from Alexandria, Egypt, and co-founder of Rufy's Films. In 2023, her first feature documentary The Tedious Tour of M, was in the official selections at Aswan Int'l film festival, Amman Int'l film festival and Gabes Cinema Fen, where it received a special mention from the jury.
