Read-aloud books, thought life, change, and one-on-one time with children. In this episode, GraceAnna joined me to answer questions from women.

It’s easy for women to come up with a list of things they don’t like about their husbands; but my encouragement is come up with a list of things you love, appreciate, and admire about your husband. And then encourage him! Chesed joined me for a conversation on this very topic.

When we were children, we acted like children. Now that we’re grown women, are we acting like grown women? As believers, are we growing up in the Lord? Let’s ask some questions:

Are you still as immature today as you were when you were 12? Are you still as spiritually immature today as when you first became a Christian? Do the same things provoke you today that provoked you 10 years ago? Do you still gossip? Do you still hold grudges? Do you love others even when you think they are simply unloveable?

God wants us to grow up in Him. He helps us grow because He fully knows us. And one day, we will fully know Him. The more we get to know Him, the more we love others His way.

The way you love others won’t be perfect in this life – it will have flaws – but if you love God, you will grow, and you will love people no matter what.

I hope this last episode on biblical love will encourage and motivate you to love others the way He loves you.

“Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.“ 1 Peter 4:8. What does this mean? How do we cover sin? And what does it mean to rejoice with the truth and how do we practically believe the best about others? I hope you will be encouraged as you listen to the third part of Biblical Love.

In this week’s episode, we continue exploring God’s love. His biblical love. We’ll see more how real love behaves - how it’s not rude, it has a big heart, it’s not bitter, and it certainly doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. So much to learn this week.

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind;” 1 Corinthians 13:4a KJV

I love this. Biblical love is patient … it is long suffering. Oh how we need supernatural love for those around us. Even though we have a God-given natural love for others, we need God’s grace to adequately express it. Our love runs raw. It grows thin in the stresses of life. It gets tired. Our love does not suffer long by itself.

Jesus Christ is the ONLY ONE WHO loves perfectly. That’s why we need Him.

Today’s podcast begins a series on how to love God’s way. Biblical Love. I trust it will encourage you.

Proverbs 14:1 says “The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.”

What does a wise woman look like? What are some of the choices she makes as she sets out to build her home?

She won’t make the choices of the world. She will obey God.

We know we need to discipline our children, but so often we don’t know what it means or even how to carry it out. In His Word, God explains His heart as to why and how He disciplines His own children. There is much application for us!! In this session, we look at the Scripture as it concerns discipline, training, and practical ways to carry it out. But first, you’ll learn some principles for your own heart!!

Even though we mothers possess a natural, instinctive love for our children, the Bible is very clear that we need to be taught biblical love. So often the way we love our children is wrapped up in the way we view them. This message covers a lot - and also gives you practical ways to enjoy your children when the rest of the world seems to be enduring theirs

As mothers and grandmothers, we often think our children are our biggest problems - we think they present the biggest challenges in our lives. But actually, other issues loom large and work against us. In this message, we look at four of our biggest problems - and they might surprise you. Sometimes all we need is a whole new perspective.

This week on the podcast, you will hear from our second grandchild, Luke. He is 17 and a junior at Mt. Paran Christian School in Marietta, Georgia. His mom is Maureen, one of the RBR girls, and his dad is my second son, Jordan. It was such a treat for me to interview him for the podcast. About salvation. About baptism. About taking communion. About learning to have their own quiet time. Maureen and I had a conversation about helping our children not only understand what it means to be saved, but guiding them as they learn about obedience to Christ, and how that shows up in areas like baptism, communion, and even developing their own time with the Lord. It was such an encouraging and enjoyable conversation.

Picking up where Chesed and I left off, I had a conversation with my daughter about what her days are like as she homeschools her children.

We were asked to do a podcast on a day in the life of a homeschool mom. It seems impossible to get everything done each day which can lead us to feel overwhelmed by the tasks before us. Chesed so wisely shared that her mom, Sharon Coppenger, told her, "God gives you enough time to do what He wants you to do each day." Such a fun conversation!

We were asked specifically how to prioritize our husbands and be their helpmeets, even in the childbearing years when wives so often feel overwhelmed, busy, and spent. GraceAnna joined me for a thoughtful and fun discussion! 

So this is Part 2 of addressing“hot tips” to being a good mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Chesed joined me and just like with Maureen, we also had so much fun talking about our relationship!  I love my girls 💙

At this stage of my life, I am especially encouraged by the young generation God is raising up – those who know Him and love Him. God is so very kind. Psalm 100:5 "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting and His faithfulness is to all generations."

In Matthew 18, right after Jesus explains to His disciples how important children are, He says  this: “Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks!”

Each day there are more and more wicked stumbling blocks placed in front of children to keep them away from Jesus. On a recent text thread with my girls, one of my daughters-in- law said this, “Satan is coming for the kids and so many parents are clueless.”

She is so right. It’s not that parents want to be clueless, but so many of us just drift with the culture and we do not realize that as women, God first gives these little people to us and and it is so important that we take our jobs seriously, and train them up in the ways of God. 

On today’s episode, you’ll hear my heart concerning some of these things. I hope you’ll take a listen and pass it along.

This episode features, my daughter-in-law, Maureen. She reminded us of Proverbs 4:23, and that became the springboard for almost everything we shared during this episode. You will be encouraged to guard your heart by being in God’s Word and shutting out the world’s noise

Chesed and I had a fun, unscripted discussion as I asked her about biblical mothering. Among other things, she talked about giving your children the gift of honoring authority. We took some mothering trails and it was such an insightful, example-filled conversation. And, she reminded us that unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain …

Over the years I’ve received so many questions about mothering. Who should I listen to? Where should I get my advice? What’s the most important thing I should be teaching my children? How do I handle temper tantrums? What about spankings? What about training good habits? How do I stay consistent? And just recently, what about gentle parenting? In the next few episodes, this podcast is going to focus on biblical mothering, and how to take our cues from the Scripture rather than from all the influencers out there. This first episode is with my daughter, GraceAnna, and we tackle some of these issues. In coming episodes, you’ll hear from Chesed and Maureen as well. In January, my daughter asked me to share 1 Timothy 3:11 with a group of women in Raleigh, North Carolina. As I walked through the qualifications for deacons' wives, I shared some principles for ALL wives. Husbands need wives in ways that they might not fully understand. God calls men to lead, provide, and protect. Sometimes they do that as pastors, shepherds, elders, and/or deacons in the church, but all of them do it as leaders of their families. However, leadership extends far beyond just their families. Men lead by example in their churches, in their communities, and in their jobs. They are mentors and role models to young boys growing up all around them. They are strong and protective warriors for the young girls growing up all around them. Men lead even if they don't have official positions and they need women to help them in these roles. I trust that this podcast will encourage you to encourage them.

On this fifth and final episode (for now) on home education, I share some things I learned as I raised my children. More than anything, I wanted them to be lifelong learners. I wanted God to capture and awaken their hearts. There were some principles God taught me from His Word and I want to share them with you.
