One of our favorite interviews we’ve ever done was with the wonderful and insightful Sandra and Andy Stanley. THIS WEEK, we got to meet their daughter, Allie! On this episode of the podcast, we get to talk with Allie and Sandra together and dive into the mother/daughter relationship, which moms—you know, can be one of your biggest sources of both joy and heartache. We talk about it all in this episode and specific ways to strengthen your relationship TODAY. And, it’s all based on Allie and Sandra’s new book, which we would HIGHLY recommend, Meet Me in the Middle! If you have a daughter, grab yourself and her a copy today!

6 Slices Bacon, Cooked & Crumbled
Garnishes: diced fresh tomato or picante sauce

| Episode 104: Helping Kids Find Hope in the Midst of Tragedy | 06 Apr 2023 | 00:40:58 | |
Join David, Sissy, and Melissa as they focus on HOPE. This was set to be recorded last week and little did they know how their hope would be impacted by the tragedy that unfolded at the Covenant School. This recording was honestly the first chance they had to talk through the week…to process the loss and the grief and the moments of God’s goodness piercing through. Because, as the Uber driver they mentioned in the episode said, “We share the same hope.”
We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post… Hebrews 6:18-20, MSG

| Episode 102: How to Care for Kids that Are Hurting After a School Tragedy | 29 Mar 2023 | 00:09:23 | |
David and Sissy share more helpful tips to care for the kids in your life that are dealing with big feelings after the Nashville school shooting. This content originated on the Raising Boys and Girls IG (@raisingboysandgirls) on Tuesday, March 28. We continue to pray that your conversations lead to hope and peace.
A Few Ideas on Helping Kids who are Hurting:
Kids emotions are transient. Follow their lead.
Have conversations in doses. Kids need to come up for air more than we do.
Watch for: emotions bigger than the situation warrants, more clinging, tearfulness, regression, trouble sleeping.
Maintain routines. Kids thrive in structure.
Keep giving them space to feel. Process your feelings elsewhere.
Move with them toward empathy and purpose.

| Episode 101: How to Talk to Your Kids After a School Shooting - a Message of Hope | 28 Mar 2023 | 00:07:20 | |
It's unthinkable that we're recovering from another school shooting that took the lives of innocent children and adults. Child and adolescent counselor, Sissy Goff shares helpful ideas on how to talk with kids after a tragedy like this. This content originated on Sissy's IG (@sissygoff) on Monday, March 27 in the aftermath of the shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, TN. We pray your conversations lead to hope and healing.
How to Talk to Your Kids After a School Shooting:
Stay Calm
Be the Source.
Let them lead.
Give them space to feel.
It's okay to feel with them, not to process with them.
Answer questions age-appropriately and honestly.
Talk about what they can control.
Look for the helpers. Be one.
Ask what would help them feel safe at school.
Don't feel like you have to have all the answers.
Remind them of truth you know.

| Episode 197: The Family Table and Things that Matter with Charlie Peacock & Andi Ashworth | 11 Jul 2024 | 00:58:43 | |
We loved getting to sit and have a conversation with two people we have loved and admired for so long, Andi and Charlie Peacock Ashworth. In fact, we were both attending a Bible study in their home (which we’ll talk about) before we knew them or each other, way back in our 20’s, along with all of the other 20 and 30 and 40-something year old’s in Nashville. We have learned so much from these two, as they have invited us in to so many conversations over the years, whether those conversations took place through books or music or in person. We can’t wait for you to listen in and learn from them, too, as we talk about music, the family table, and their new book, Why Everything That Doesn’t Matter, Matters So Much. And, by the way, these two are a husband and wife creative powerhouse team, having authored and co-authored books, blogs and so many songs you know and love.

| Episode 93: Helping Kids with Sensory Processsing Disorders | 14 Feb 2023 | 00:50:09 | |
It was our great joy to share conversation with Susan Masie & Danielle Carder. Both women are pediatric occupational therapists at Pediatric Therapies and wise guides who have been supporting kids and families for decades. We talked about what sensory hurdles look like, the connection between sensory struggles and anxiety and some best practices for parents of young children. However, the conversation we shared around regulation could be useful for any aged child or adolescent (or adult for that matter). This will likely be an episode you will want to have a pen and paper nearby to take notes and go back to the ideas recommended by these two wise voices.

| Episode 195: Navigating Boredom, Co-Regulation, and Tossing Cashews with Holly Williams Coleman | 02 Jul 2024 | 00:54:58 | |
Ever since we started dreaming up the Music City Series, we talked about how much we wanted to interview our friend, Holly Williams Coleman. She is a phenomenally talented artist in her own right as an acclaimed singer/songwriter. She is ALSO a retail entrepreneur and owner of White’s Mercantile, with 5 locations. She is ALSO a serial house renovator. She is ALSO married to artist/musician Chris Coleman, mom to four adorable littles. AND she’s one of the kindest people we know. (She also happens to be music royalty, which you’ll hear more about in the episode.) Holly is hilarious, brilliant, and a true delight to talk with. We can’t wait for you to listen in on this conversation with our friend Holly Willams Coleman.
