E23 - Joyful Toddler Parenting (with Sara Whaley)
jeudi 1 juin 2023 • Duration 32:17
In today’s episode, we're talking about navigating the toddlerhood phase, and how we, as parents, need to shift our focus and adjust our expectations.
My guest, Sara Whaley, is the CEO and owner of Joyful Toddler Parenting. Sara is a parent coach for toddler parents, and a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst - she's based out of the USA, where she lives with her partner and two toddlers.
Sara and I discuss everything from the social media evolution of ‘gentle parenting’, to the most common ways we overestimate and underestimate our toddlers. Sara clearly breaks down how factors such as inadequate self-care, burnout, and mom guilt can get in the way of us parenting the way we’d like to.
As she says in our interview, “Toddlers are hard. They just are.” But Sara’s goal is to help all parents find the joy in this stage, despite its challenges.

E12 - Recaps, Updates, & a Behind-The-Scenes Tour of the Podcast
lundi 22 août 2022 • Duration 30:50
Hey Mamas, and welcome to Episode 12 of the Raise Your Hand Motherhood Podcast!
Thank you for listening, and THANK YOU so much for being here - whether you're a regular listener, or a first-timer....a new mom, or an extremely experienced parent! It's been humbling and motivating to read every single ONE of your comments, emails, and reviews about the show so far. It’s what keeps me psyched about producing the next episode and the next episode and the next…and podcast production is not a teeny undertaking, I’ve very quickly learned!
In this episode, we're taking a look back at the first 11 episodes of the show, and recap-ing the most memorable and relatable motherhood moments! I'm also 'pulling back the curtain' a little bit and sharing all about the journey that is has been making the podcast!
Make sure you don't miss the last segment of the episode, where I share a few personal motherhood updates with you all. This podcast works because of the willingness of the guests (and its host!) to get vulnerable and honest, so I hope you enjoy this look back, and stick around until the end!
If you like what you hear, please give the podcast a 5-star rating and review on your podcast listening app of choice. If you have a comment, question, or suggestion for the show, you can reach me on Instagram @theraiseyourhandmotherhoodpod, or at www.raiseyourhandmotherhoodpodcast.com/contact.
E11 - Helpful Tips, Tools, & Support for Mothers (& Parents) of Multiples
lundi 1 août 2022 • Duration 51:21
In today's episode, we're talking about being a mother of MULTIPLES.
In this episode, I’ll share my conversation with Amber De’Neise - she’s a toddler mom to twin girls, and is based out of Northern Ontario, Canada. It was SO interesting for me to hear about her journey into first-time motherhood…only with TWICE the fun!! This was a really eye-opening interview, and we cover so many different topics - including everything from Amber’s must-haves for mothers of multiples, to the difficult infertility journey she and her partner navigated. I hope you learn as much from this conversation as I did!
Later in the episode, you’ll hear from more mothers of multiples of a variety of ages, as they share pieces of their personal motherhood journeys….these clips discuss everything from the joys and surprises they’ve encountered raising multiples, to the struggles they’ve overcome (or are currently facing), to their tips and the lessons they've learned along the way!
To adapt the commonly used expression, it takes a VILLAGE to raise a child….and a MUCH BIGGER VILLAGE to raise 2, 3, or MORE at the same time!

Hey Mama - in today's episode, we're talking about finding time and rediscovering yourself after motherhood.
In the first segment, I interview Aga Lawrynowicz about reclaiming our time (and….ourselves, really!). Later in the episode, you’ll hear from Bekah & Brook - they’re friends, licensed therapists, co-founders & creators of ‘In This Moment Box’ - an experiential subscription box service designed for both children AND parents, that aims to make mindfulness an accessible and easy practice for the entire family. E8 - NEW BODY, WHO DIS?! Finding Body Neutrality After Children
mardi 21 juin 2022 • Duration 51:08
In today's episode, we're talking about finding body neutrality after having children. We discuss the struggle to reconnect with our bodies postpartum, and how QUICKLY we are targeted by ads, social media, and society in general to try and ‘rewind the clock’ and fit into the version of ourselves we were before pregnancy.
In the first segment, you’ll hear from a handful of mamas as they share about their body image journeys - both before and after having children. As ALWAYS, thank you so much to these women for getting honest, getting vulnerable, and sharing a piece of their motherhood stories, so we don’t have to feel alone in ours!
My guest on the podcast today is Jess Brock-Pitts. She’s a licensed clinical social worker, turned certified personal trainer, and runs her own online fitness boutique called Enlighten Well LLC. She’s passionate about Health at Every Size, Intuitive Eating, and weight-neutral fitness/movement. This was such a great conversation, covering a wide-range of topics - from disordered eating, to C-sections scars, to the difference between body positivity, body acceptance, and body neutrality….I also ask Jess to share her tips for moms on mindset and mental health, particularly in this time when they are trying to find some sort of body neutrality. Click here to read her blog!

E7 - Coping Strategies & Truth-Telling Essays on Motherhood
mardi 14 juin 2022 • Duration 47:04
In today's episode, we're talking about the many different ways we cope when the mental, emotional, and physical loads of motherhood feel a bit heavy. Sometimes, the coping mechanisms we use are good for us….and other times, they allow us to just make it through another day of motherhood! I definitely have both good (and not so good) ways of handling stress, and I just want to clarify that this episode is NOT about passing judgment on myself or ANY other mom out there.
In the first segment, you’ll hear from a handful of mamas as they share the various things they do when they need to take a breath, steal a quiet moment (or an hour!), or take a step away and regroup/refocus. As ALWAYS, thank you so much to these women for getting honest, getting vulnerable, and sharing a piece of their motherhood stories, so we don’t have to feel alone in ours!
My guest on the podcast today is Erin Pepler. She’s a Canadian freelance writer, and the recent author of her first book, ‘Send Me into the Woods Alone - Essays on Motherhood’. Erin’s writing has been featured in a number of prominent magazines and online blogs and websites, and she just has such an incredible way with words. She’s funny, she’s truthful, and she doesn’t shy away from the difficult moments of motherhood. This book is motherhood gold, mamas. Have a listen to our interview, and then get your hands on a copy (links below)!
