Our Favorite Tips for a Healthy Marriage06 oct. 202000:38:53

We stuck our toes slightly outside of our lane in this episode. But, here’s the thing: Our goal is to give you the tools to plan a wedding that feels really good to you. But in all reality, we want to set you up for a happy, healthy marriage. This episode includes some of our favorite bits of “marriage advice” we’ve heard and why it matters. Grab your partner, snuggle up, and give this one a listen.

We talked about:

  • There’s no such thing as “the perfect marriage”, but the goal is a “healthy” marriage
  • Why we don’t necessarily agree with the common advice of “Don’t go to bed angry”
  • What lawn care has to do with a good relationship
  • The importance of love languages AND the languages of apology
  • The reason why we have two ears and one mouth
  • What’s more important: being kind or being right?
  • “The River Jordan Concept”
  • Creating a path back to one another
  • The idea of “50/50”
  • Sex (Don’t worry, we’ll give you a heads up if you’ve got young ears listening in, but we kept it short and PG-13)
  • The importance of communication

It’s Time We Stop Using the Word “Bridezilla”14 juil. 202000:28:02

Do you know where the term “Bridezilla” came from? We didn’t. So, we did some digging and discovered quite a few interesting details about it. More importantly, we discussed WHY it’s time we stop using the word “Bridezilla”. Because planning a wedding is stressful. We don’t need to add name-calling into the mix.

We talked about:

  • Where the word “Bridezilla” originated and why that matters
  • There is a ton of pressure surrounding couples, brides in particular, to be “perfect” — and that’s BULL
  • You’re allowed to make mistakes and not show up perfectly every time
  • What often leads to someone being called a “Bridezilla” and why that isn’t ok
  • Why it’s time to remove the word from our vocabulary
  • What someone can do instead of calling someone a “Bridezilla”

Going Small: Elopements, Mini-monies, and Microweddings30 juin 202000:35:09

Episode 85 is all about going small on size and big on intention. Your wedding may be affected by COVID-19 and you’re considering an adjustment to your original plans. Maybe you’re downsizing your entire event. OR you might be choosing to postpone the big celebration for another time. But you still want to do something small on your original date. And just because something is “small” it does not need to be any LESS SPECIAL.

This episode breaks down all things small: Mini-monies (WTF?), microweddings, and elopements. We cover it all and we’re here to talk through it with you.

We talked about:

  • Our new “Ringer Club” membership
  • The differences between an elopement, minimony, and microwedding
  • Why going small does NOT equal a less special or less “real” wedding
  • The first step in planning a small/intimate microwedding
  • Why it’s still important to focus on the guest experience
  • You’re still allowed to splurge on whatever you’d like
  • The ONE vendor you should still have — no matter what

COVID-19 and Your Wedding24 mars 202000:54:25

Ringers, we know it’s been a crazy and rocky time right now. We hope you’re staying safe and healthy throughout all that is going on in our world at the moment. While there are so many unknowns right and we can’t tell you what to do about your upcoming wedding, we want you to know that we’re here for you. Hopefully, this episode provides some comfort and, as always, some tips to help you through it all. We love you, Ringers.

Full disclaimer: We are here to support you and talk you through your wedding planning journey. We are not health experts, legal experts, medical experts, economic experts, or really anything other than two wedding professionals. We have truly no idea what the future holds. Now more than ever.

Finally, we get something VERY VERY wrong in this episode. For those of you that are Marvel/DC fans, we make a huge “oopsie” when talking about which characters are from which universe. Our apologies friends. We know Wolverine is from Marvel. What can we say? It’s been a rough week.

We talked about:

  • An update about future episodes
  • You have our permission to feel however you need to feel
  • Some mindset shifts to help you process all of this
  • What to do if you need to postpone your wedding
  • Wedding Insurance
  • Canceling your wedding vs. postponing it
  • Alternative options to consider, depending on what the restrictions are in your area
  • A reminder to take care of yourself, now more than ever
  • What we’re doing to stay positive (as much as possible) throughout this experience
  • How and what to be communicating with your guests about your upcoming wedding
  • Also, a wildly incorrect side-tangent about the Marvel/DC universe (oops)

Here is the letter that our patron, Alex Rogers, let us share with you:

Dear friends and family,

We hope you are all well and safe in these uncertain times!

Given the COVID-19 outbreak, we wanted to reach out regarding our DATE wedding in CITY (or at VENUE if more applicable).

As of today, we are still planning on having our wedding as scheduled. However, we’re closely monitoring the situation. We’d much prefer to stay the course, but our utmost importance is everyone’s health and safety, so we will postpone the wedding if travel restrictions don’t lift, people are required to be quarantined due to travel, or if it’s simply too unsafe for large gatherings.

We realize some of you have already booked travel and accommodation, so if we do postpone, we will do everything in our power to help you sweet talk airlines and hotels into providing refunds/waiving change fees (though given the circumstances, we believe people will be very accommodating).

Please bear with us as we wait for more news! We imagine we should be able to make the decision in about a month’s time, and will let you know as soon as we do.

In the meantime, stay safe, read, play, breathe, and watch Frozen 2.

Love,
Name and Name
