Public Health Explained - How AI Affects Learning
23 sept. 2026
00:34:38
The effects of injecting AI in learning environments like K-12 or training for healthcare professionals is concerning to say the least. Deskilling and never-skilling is a danger that is not knocking on our doors, it's already inside.
What is ultra processed food? Is it good or bad for us? Turns out, that's the wrong question to ask. Also, the "eat real food" crowd are doing us no good.
Conservative parenting doctrine part 2. How the deeply rooted and problematic gender norms of women needed to stay at home is making life miserable for all of us. Why can't we have a working childcare policy in the United States?
EDIT: The Biden Administration clarified on 2021-06-04 that the administration aimed to end pandemic relief and protection as soon as possible, that these programs were always meant to be temporary.
Conservative parenting doctrine part 1. Some parents see children's right to privacy as a threat to them, somehow. They see children as property, not people.
Guess which completely preventable thing is back? New World Screwworms! Prevention was working as intended, then the DOGE cuts happened, and now the Republicans are using funds for food banks to fix a problem that they created. This administration said "tear down all the Chesterton's fences".
Public Health Explained - Do we have a literacy crisis or not?
15 juin 2026
00:36:17
Have you come across any video title, headlines that said something to the effect of "Americans can't read" or "kids can't read" or "America's literacy crisis?" Yeah, me too. It's a moral panic disguised as a genuine concern.
To be clear, United States certainly has issues with reading comprehension, but calling this a literacy crisis is inaccurate. To solve a problem, we have to accurate describe it first.

After doing an episode on coal in our Standards series, we must answer the question: Why do coal miners support conservative politics despite how harmful it is for them?
"We're bringing back an industry that was abandoned. With us today are some of the amazing workers who will benefit from these policies." Trump, a liar.
"For too long, coal has been a dirty word that most are afraid to speak about, but we are still strong. We are still here. And we're still needed in order to make America great again. " Jeff Crowe, a coal mine manager from West Virginia, definitely not wrong about this. /s

This administration's bigoted and xenophobic attack on this country extends to the department of education, which they are actively attempting to dismantle.
PFAS contamination on military bases, and the Department of Defense (or War if you're a fascist) complete lack of initiative to clean up the mess. So much for caring about our troops.
Black lung disease and silicosis making a completely unnecessary return. Miners protection, early screening, and compensation being repealed. This administration is seemingly doing everything they can to kill miners.

26 nov. 2025
00:44:27
Executive Order # 14321, July 24, 2025, like most acts by this regime, sends us backwards. None of it works. Cruelty is the point because that is who they are.
ACAB includes this administration and any administration who thinks the answer to homelessness is more police.
The National Environmental Policy Act is a landmark piece of legislation that protects not only the environment but also the health and safety the public near large scale projects. It's being circumvented by a bogus emergency declaration.

01 oct. 2025
01:05:43
HIPAA, Data privacy, wearable techs, watches, rings, and mass surveillance: How our eroding data privacy protections are a danger to our collective public health. Also, maybe be more wary of period/fertility tracking apps.
The draft of the second report from the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) commission, Make Our Children Healthy Again: Assessment, is as stupid as it is dangerous. One of the clearest example of propaganda. They say they want to make children healthy but are dismantling everything that keeps us safe.
*Note: The report was published shortly after we recorded. The language of deregulation they used in the draft did not change much, and almost all of the episode still applies.

It seems like the people most vocally against gender affirming care have no idea what it is. Also, JK Rowling sucks and Harry Potter is mid.
Shame on LA Children's Hospital for shutting down the gender affirming care center. They abandoned the people they were supposed to serve, capitulating to a bigoted tyrant.

Regulations are written in blood. Whose blood are we using?
The CDC Injury Center has been fully gutted. For the foreseeable future, we will not know what is killing us. This is proactive deregulation, as a lack of evidence of a problem can be used to justify the lack for more rules and policies.
Standards is a new series from Everything is Public Health, where we examine all the rules and regulations keeping us safe and healthy, and the deregulation movement working to destroy them.

30 avr. 2025
00:33:17
The 15 minute city is a simple urban planning concept that prioritizes the people's health and wellbeing, with the added benefit of reducing environmental impact, pollution, and inefficiencies. It is arguably the best way to design an urban space. So why do the conservatives have a full blown moral panic about it?
