We Found The Hedge (And Richard Branson) - Field Journal #3
samedi 29 novembre 2025 • Duration 41:50
We’re one third of the way across India, and this week we finally did it – we found a pice of The Great Hedge itself.
In this field journal we talk about the day we found the hedge, following in Roy Moxham foots steps, the wild coincidence of meeting the nephew of the man who showed it to him, and how we somehow ended up at the Taj Mahal talking Project Salt Run with Richard Branson while Hannah was running on empty.
If you’re in the market for new running shoes and want to support Project Salt Run at the same time, grab a pair of HILOs using our link: PSR HILOs
You’ll get super comfortable, long-lasting shoes, and we’ll get a little boost to keep this adventure going.
Hi, I’m Hannah, accidental runner, sustainability advocate and founder of the Better Business Network.
Project Salt Run is a world-first endurance expedition. I'm running 4,200 km across India, following the forgotten Inland Customs Line (also known as the Great Hedge of India) to raise £1 million for environmental action through 1% for the Planet, Frank Water, ClientEarth, and Big Change.
Starting on 26th October 2025, I’ve been running one marathon every day for 100 days, crossing deserts, jungles, and cities from the Pakistan border all the way to Kolkata, shining a light on how business and people can be a force for good.
This isn’t just a run. It’s a story about legacy, climate action, and courage and how small groups of people can create big change.

The Runcast: Strive Runs the Extra Mile
vendredi 21 novembre 2025 • Duration 20:43
In today’s Runcast, Hannah is joined by an incredible crew from the Strive team, who are out here in India supporting our charity partner Big Change. These legends took time out of their own adventure biking the Golden Triangle to swing by, lace up, and run a full marathon with Hannah… after deciding that morning to do it.
I (Joel) chat with them about why they’re raising money for Big Change, what brought them out here, what running means to them, and what it takes to say “yeah, sure, I’ll run 42 km on a whim.” They also share the advice they’re giving Hannah to help keep her going through 100 marathons in 100 days.
And if you like this kind of podcast, I guess I’ll just have to get out there and keep running. So if you want more of this, let us know by sharing, leaving a comment, or sending us a message!

5 Weeks to Go: Kenton Cool on Everest
jeudi 18 septembre 2025 • Duration 01:09:35
We sit down with mountaineer and guide Kenton Cool, a man with 19 Everest summits and a lifetime of stories. From a dirt-bag first trip to Pakistan for £500 to shattering both heels and rebuilding purpose, Kenton talks community, identity, and the head game that gets you through the hard bits. In the face of unprecedented environmental challenges, Project Salt Run aims to inspire action through an extraordinary journey of transformation. Hannah Cox, a sustainability advocate with Indian heritage and a first-time runner, will undertake a life-changing challenge across India, following the historic Inland Customs Line.
This colonial-era boundary enforced a devastating salt tax, causing immense suffering and millions of deaths, but has been largely forgotten from history.
By retracing this route, Hannah seeks to honour its legacy and transform its meaning, inviting others to discover their own version of extraordinary. This journey is not about guarantees of success—Hannah faces the real possibility of failure—but it’s a powerful reminder that taking bold steps, even in uncertainty, can inspire meaningful change.

6 Weeks to Go: Plan Z - Funding the Impossible Run
jeudi 11 septembre 2025 • Duration 51:07
This week we dive headfirst into the toughest part of the Project Salt Run journey so far... finances. With less than 60 days to go, Hannah and Joel pull back the curtain on what it really takes to fund an expedition like this. From dirtbag backup plans of buying a van in India, to the reality of paying for flights, permits, wages, and gear, it’s all on the table.
It’s messy, it’s honest, and it’s exactly why we started this podcast, to share the journey, warts and all!
We’re currently raising money to make this expedition possible. EVERY Pound raised on Crowdfunder gets us closer to being able to reach India.

7 Weeks to Go: Running Through Pregnancy: Dr. Erica Patel's Journey to Ultras
jeudi 4 septembre 2025 • Duration 01:03:00
This week we sit down with the incredible Dr. Erica Patel. A gynecologist, mother, and record-breaking ultra runner who somehow balances medicine at the top level with running marathons across India (and even the legendary Comrades in South Africa... Twice).
We talk about what it’s really like to run in India, the growth of women’s running communities, continuing to run through pregnancy, and her work with She Races and Chennai Runners to make races more inclusive and supportive for women.
There are some great surprises in here too, including one big India myth that Erica completely busts for us.

11 Weeks to Go: Hope, Hustle, and Holding It Together: A Mid-Journey PSR Check-In
jeudi 7 août 2025 • Duration 40:20
We’re back with a raw and honest update from the PSR team. No guests, just Joel and Hannah catching up on everything that’s been happening behind the scenes and let’s just say, it’s a lot.
From Hannah’s wild 2020 Challenge (that’s 20k a day for 20 days!) to losing key team members, this episode dives deep into the physical, emotional, and logistical rollercoaster of prepping for 100 marathons across India.
We talk burnout, trust, fundraising hurdles, shifting priorities, and how to stay grounded when everything feels like it’s moving 100 miles an hour. There’s even a peek into Hannah’s mindset shift from fiery activism to hopeful action and a few chaotic bits of good news too (hello, leaving party planning!).
This is the messy middle. And we’re bringing you along for every step of it.

12 Weeks to Go: Running, Raving & Real Talk: Our Love Trails Festival Recap
jeudi 31 juillet 2025 • Duration 30:56
This week, we're diving into Hannah’s first-ever trip to Love Trails a trail running and music festival that turned out to be more powerful than expected. From dancing in the woods to running through heatwaves, from emotional on-stage moments to reconnecting with the wider running community, it was all kinds of wild and wonderful.
We talk about how this festival blends movement, mindfulness, music and why it might be the most PSR-aligned event we’ve ever experienced. Plus, Hannah shares a powerful personal story about grief, music, and vulnerability before stepping on stage to speak about Project Salt Run in front of hundreds of runners.
We also touch on how these kinds of events help build community, shift your mindset, and make the impossible feel a bit more possible.
Tickets are not sponsored, we just genuinely think this event rocks. And yes, Croatia in September is looking tempting...
