Dr Dwyer Kaluzna discusses the most recent evidence for prescribing, dosing, and monitoring direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs); using the risk-screening tools HAS-BLED and CHA2DS2-VASc to design patient-specific pharmacotherapy plans; and the use of DOACs in special patient populations, including older patients, patients with end-stage renal disease, and patients with low or high body weights.
