Ava was diagnosed withĀ retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer, which resulted in her losing her eye. Vicki opens up about their familyās journey through Avaās diagnosis and treatment, and what life has been like for their incredibly brave little girl. Then thereās Danā¦ š Dan decided he wanted to do something special to help and took on the ridiculous challenge ofĀ running 89 MILES from Pembroke all the way to his football club in Port Talbot, raising money towards a very special prosthetic eye for Ava. šāāļøā¤ļø He tells us exactly what it took to complete the challenge, the highs, the lows, the painā¦ and why the wordĀ āLlanelliā may haunt him for the rest of his lifeĀ š At the heart of this episode, though, is Ava - an amazing little girl with a huge personality and an incredible family around her. ā¤ļø A massive thank you toĀ Dan, Vicki and of course AvaĀ for coming in and trusting us to share their story. We sit down withĀ Lloyd Griffiths, who tells us about his 14-year-old son,Ā Ethan, and the battle with cancer that Ethan and his family are currently facing. Lloyd was completely open with us about their journey from the moment they first realised something wasnāt right, through Ethanās diagnosis, treatment, and the reality of what happens to an entire family when their world is suddenly turned upside down. ItāsĀ honest, emotional and incredibly raw. When Dean and Lee started this podcast, we said we wanted to shareĀ real-life stories. We love having a laugh and hopefully thereāll be plenty more belly laughs along the way but not every story in real life is funny. Some stories deserve to simply be heard. And Ethanās is one of them.
