| 6. National Showcase, Competing Mid-Pandemic, and Setting Boundaries with Pauline Elizabeth | 13 Mar 2022 | 00:49:59 | |
Yes, I introduced this episode by calling it episode 5, not 6-- in case anyone needed to know just how perpetually bad my memory is. Β Today I chatted with Pauline, who is a longtime ice skater, fitness instructor, college grad, and overall incredibly accomplished person. We touched on so many important topics, and I hope you enjoy listening! Connect with me on all social media at "pretty tough sports." | 5. Team USA, Balancing your Education, and Supporting Healthy Athletes with Tory Patsis | 03 Mar 2022 | 00:53:45
Today's episode is my favorite yet, and that's because I got to reconnect with an old training mate of mine: Tory Patsis! We skated together in 2014, but have both long since left the sport and gone on to live completely different lives. I'm so glad she was willing to share her story with me, and I think she has some great advice for where USFS could change to provide athletes with healthier training environments. | 4. The (hopefully) Final Follow-up to Kamila Valieva, the ROC, and Olympics | 15 Feb 2022 | 00:36:39
An unplanned episode for this week, but a necessary one regardless. In this episode, I talk about the confirmed news coming out of the Olympics regarding Kamila's suspension hearing-- as well as the issues with the decision, the following consequences, and what happens next. I also discuss the comparisons drawn between Sha'carri Richardson's suspension, and the different governing bodies that make these decisions. NOTE: I did mistakenly say Wakaba Higuchi of Japan is currently in 3rd, but I meant Kaori Sakamoto (also of Japan). I confused myself with Wakaba landing a 3A in competitionβ my apologies and I hope this clarifies!
