Do they exist?The first segment we will be covering is traveling in snowy or icey conditions. Proper vehicle maintenance definitely comes in to play, but there are also essentials in addition to your get home bag that you should never travel with out. For example, traveling with two bags of kitty litter can save your life. Proper placement can add extra weight to your rear wheels for stabilization. And if you accidentally go off road the kitty litter can provide traction for your wheels to get out of the snow.The next segment we will be covering the ever important home preps that you can make. Need extra heat in the house? We’ll be discussing how you can use everyday items from your house like terra-cotta planters to heat a room. Did your power go out and you need to keep your food cold? There are also a few importantant things you should start doing the spring to prepare for next year.In closing we’ll be sharing some thoughts on what winters mean for a grid down scenario. This week on the “The Prepping Academy” Forrest and Tenderfoot are going to be discussing if you have not skills during a SHTF scenario you are worthless to others. This will be hard for some to take but it’s true.Preppers have a bad reputation for hoarding gear, stocking up on a year’s-worth (or more) of food, and packing bug out bags that could supply a platoon. In almost all cases, these preppers would be screwed if there were a disaster or SHTF. Gear and supplies are useless unless you still have it when you need it, and know how to use them.The precept of knowledge weighing nothing has been a long-term idea in my thinking. I love learning how to do things and how to adapt my surroundings by adapting what I have available for new purposes. Also, if something like a regional disaster hits your area, you may be surviving with only what you have on you at that moment and all that stuff you collected will be useless. So Knowledge and Skills are King.Skills won’t run out, and in a prolonged emergency that makes them far more valuable for trade than anything else. You don’t have to be an expert at every survival skill to survive a disaster–very few people have mastered all the skills. But you need to weigh the choice of staying versus the risk to your life and health. For some folks, the risks to their safety out weights the danger they could very well face by staying and trying to protect their property. The latest hurricanes have people rethink the stay and protect their property vs. their safety.Bugging out to soon can be a waste of time and resource’s. Bugging out and having to return days later can and will put stress on family members and survival groups and could cause others to question each time events warrant a real bug out situation. Everyone wants to make the right decision and the proper planning should help everyone understand the go or no go decision. As I have stated many times I believe the final decision should be in the hands of one person with a team of advisors around them. This will be a judgment call on your part or your team leader and only time will tell if the judgment call was a good one or not. Prepper Camp 2017Join Forrest and Tenderfoot this Monday night as they recap Prepper Camp 2017. Prepper Camp is the largest out door national event for preppers held in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It takes place at Orchard Lake Campground located in Saluda, North Carolina. The campground venue allows preppers to experience preparedness information, survival skills, and camp-craft activities like no other preparedness conference.You may remember Survivor Jane as being our very first guest on air. Events like these are few and far between around the USA. These folks don’t make a great amount of money off these events and they do a tremendously great job of emulating what prepping is truly about being prepared and helping others. As a long time prepper I can tell you first hand events like this are essential to our community.Forrest and Tenderfoot will be sharing their experience, discussing the classes, speakers and their networking opportunities. How are you traveling there? What supplies do you need? What supplies can you take? What can you acquire at your destination? CPN has also created a weekly CPN Preparedness 80-meter E-Comm NET every Tuesday night at 9PM. As American diplomacy, politics, and society falls apart anyone with a sane mind should be considering owning a gun and preparing for a WROL (with rule of law) America. Heck, probably a few. Why a few? The simple fact is that guns are tools. If you’ve ever gardened you know that you wouldn’t use a flat shovel to plow; just like you wouldn’t use a broad fork to dig a well. So don’t go in to a gun shop with a mindset that “a gun is a gun.” And for the love of all that is holy and sane, do not buy a gun from the gun shop that tries to say a shotgun is the only weapon you need for home defense.With the view that every gun is a tool, Kyle and Forrest will be diving straight in to the best guns for a prepper. Personal recommendations and experience go a long way in this industry. The first tool we’ll be discussing is what some call their “main battle rifle.” This is typically an AR15, AK47, or a variant. Some folks may consider these weapons overkill. Keep in mind once again that we’re discussing far more than economic difficulties. Our nation is primed for civil war and social unrest. Finding yourself in a fair fight means you’ve already lost.The next weapon type our host will be covering is your secondary. 99% of the time this mean a pistol. Every year we hear about American’s going off the roads and getting stranded. Even worse, we hear about people freezing to death in their own homes because of lack of heat. Do they exist?The first segment we will be covering is traveling in snowy or icey conditions. Proper vehicle maintenance definitely comes in to play, but there are also essentials in addition to your get home bag that you should never travel with out. For example, traveling with two bags of kitty litter can save your life. Proper placement can add extra weight to your rear wheels for stabilization. And if you accidentally go off road the kitty litter can provide traction for your wheels to get out of the snow.The next segment we will be covering the ever important home preps that you can make. Need extra heat in the house? We’ll be discussing how you can use everyday items from your house like terra-cotta planters to heat a room. Did your power go out and you need to keep your food cold?
