Lacey is a fertility nutritionist who helps women boost their egg quality and increase their chances of getting pregnant, staying pregnant, and increasing IVF success.

Understanding Egg Quality - What It Is and Why It Matters

Egg quality is crucial for women trying to conceive, but it can be influenced by various factors such as age, genetics, and lifestyle habits.

Lacey explains the definition of egg quality and why it's important to seek the help of a fertility nutritionist to improve it.

5 Key Ways to Boost Egg Quality Naturally Through Diet

Lacey shares five practical tips for improving egg quality naturally through diet and nutrition, including incorporating antioxidant-rich foods, taking quality prenatal supplements, and getting essential nutrients like zinc, selenium, and iodine.

She also discusses the top three foods for boosting egg quality: berries for antioxidants, eggs for choline, and brazil nuts for selenium. Additionally, she talks about the benefits of seaweed for iodine and mushrooms for vitamin D.

Lifestyle Habits That Can Affect Your Egg

Certain lifestyle habits can impact egg quality, such as sleep, sunlight exposure, and exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals and plastics.

Lacey provides tips and strategies for improving sleep quality, getting enough vitamin D through sunlight exposure or supplementation, and reducing exposure to harmful chemicals and plastics.

Lacey emphasizes the importance of seeking the help of a fertility nutritionist or other healthcare provider if you're struggling to conceive or want to improve your chances of getting pregnant.

She concludes by summarizing the key takeaways and actionable tips for improving egg quality naturally through diet and lifestyle habits.

In having this conversation with Daniel, and I am sure you’ll agree with me once you’ve listened, but you can really tell that quality of care is of the utmost importance for him and his team, and treating each and every person he sees as an individual, and working with their goals, is super important.

It is a great discussion, and Daniel answers these common questions about egg freezing:

Is the economy affecting your birth preparation and recovery?12 Dec 202200:13:23

Send us a text

Is the economy affecting your birth preparation and after birth recovery?

What does the economic downturn mean for women who are pregnant, or who've had babies recently?

Have you been reviewing your household costs recently?

One in three women who've had a baby had some sort of incontinence after having a baby, and one and two women have prolapse, according to the Australian Continence Foundation.

So, if you have been looking to cut costs, is there an alternative way you can access the support you need, without compromising on your short and long term healthcare needs?

Welcome back to the Pelvic Floor Friday session!

Every few weeks on a Friday, I talk you through a set of pelvic floor exercises.  These episodes are short, these episodes are actionable, and are designed to just help you get it done and tick off your pelvic floor from the to-do list.

Perfect if you’re having a vaginal or a caesarean birth, pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, or years and years down the track.

You could even send this podcast episode to your mum, as pelvic floor exercises are something I believe ALL women need to do.

So, although I am talking you through this pelvic floor set, if you’ve been listening to me for awhile you will know I always say how everyone is on their own journey,

Everyone is different.

Focus on Quality over quantity.

And If you can’t hold for as long as I say, please don’t.

Any discomfort or questions please do stop and consult your healthcare provider.

And, don’t forget these exercises don’t substitute for a pelvic floor assessment by your local pelvic floor physio, they are designed to help with motivation, and support, to just help you to get them done more consistently.

Birth story: how things can change quickly from routine to emergency13 Sep 202200:53:13

Send us a text

In this birth stories podcast, Jacqui describes her emergency birth story.

Jacqui shares her incredible birth story. Unfortunately the birth didn't go according to plan and she describes her emergency birth story which included hours of labour, induction, haemorrhaging, and Jacqui shares how quickly things progressed to an emergency caesarean.

This episode does describe a traumatic birth experience, and if this episode does bring up anything for you, please don’t hesitate to speak to your healthcare provider, call Beyond Blue or the Panda helpline. And see the links with resources below.

However, although this episode does describe a traumatic experience, it also shows Jacqui’s amazing take on her situation, how Jacqui has come through this experience, and how her positive attitude has really helped her to move forwards.  Her bubbly beautiful personality just shines in this episode, and it was an absolute honour to be able to chat to Jacqui about her experience.

Using stairs in pregnancy30 Aug 202200:14:33

Send us a text

Can I use stairs in pregnancy?

This was a question sent to me via DM on Instagram @fitnestmama, and I thought that it might be a good question to do a podcast topic on.

Pregnancy can be an exciting time, but it might also feel like a time when you are googling everything.  And, the question around the safety of climbing stairs during pregnancy is relatively common.

So if you’re pregnant, perhaps you have lots of stairs at home.  Or perhaps you have been finding it difficult to climb stairs.  Or perhaps you are just curious about the answer, then this is for you.

In this podcast episode I discuss:

  • Every pregnancy is different
  • Common reasons to climb stairs
  • Safety of climbing stairs during pregnancy
  • Precautions to take climbing stairs
  • What to do if you're achey/sore during pregnancy.

Pelvic Floor Friday #7 [Quality Lift]15 Jul 202200:08:05

Send us a text

Welcome back to the Pelvic Floor Friday session!

Today, we are focussing on a quality pelvic floor lift.  I am going to talk you through a few ways of imagining your pelvic floor, we are going to do a lovely lift together, and then focus on that full relaxation and release.

Right, let’s dive in.

Find a position where you can relax.

1. Focus on draw string bag. Close off the bag, then lift it up off the ground.

2. Clock face. Bring the 4 points on the clock together in the middle.

3. Relaxation: focus on full release.  Imagine a bud is blooming.  Dropping and flopping. Avoiding straining down, instead release and let all the muscle tension drop away.

Welcome back to the Pelvic Floor Friday session!

Every week on a Friday, I talk you through a set of pelvic floor exercises.  Then, our normal podcast episodes will be released every Tuesday.

These are perhaps what you’d consider gold standard.

Everyone is different.

Focus on Quality over quantity.

And If you can’t hold for as long as I say, please don’t.

How to relax tight pelvic floor muscles?21 Jun 202200:15:58

Send us a text

In today's podcast episode I answer the question 'How do I relax my tight pelvic floor muscles?'

Like all muscles, we need them to function properly.  If our muscles around our head/neck and shoulders are tight or overactive, we might be predisposed to head aches or neck pain.

Similarly, sometimes we want our pelvic floor muscles to be strong and activated, and at other times we need them to relax and release the tension in the muscles.

When do we need to relax our pelvic floor muscles?

  • Pelvic floor muscles may be weak
  • Or, pelvic floor muscles might be overactive
  • Tight / overactive pelvic floor muscles might predispose us to issues with constipation / sexual pain / difficulty emptying the bladder or bowel, or perhaps coccyx pain or back pain.
  • Sometimes our emotions, stress levels / feelings impact our overall body muscle tension, eg if you're feeling anxious or stressed.
  • Sometimes there is no known cause / reason.

Why do we need to relax our pelvic floor muscles?

It is important to relax for all of the above reasons (plus more).
Preparation for childbirth is also an important time to become aware of our pelvic floor muscles, and pelvic floor relaxation can work really well when combined with perineal massage.

*Please be sure to touch base with your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns around your pelvic floor muscles.

How can we relax our pelvic floor muscles?

Some things to think of:

  • Diaghragmatic breathing
  • Visualisation - ripples
  • Body relaxation
  • Body scanning
  • Tummy relaxation
  • Relaxed environment
  • Opening bowels, and letting it gooooo.
