We're closing the yearbook for our Month of Thanks by revisiting the classic Thanksgiving movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. We will even go so far as to say John Candy should have been in the Oscar conversation for this memorable role. In honor of the two great leads, our draft this week looks back at the careers of these two legends. We draft our favorite movies starring Candy and/or Martin. | Month of Thanks: Cheers/Friends Thanksgivings / Thanksgiving Foods Draft | 17 Nov 2025 | 01:04:56
Giff and Brad continue reminiscing about classic Thanksgiving-themed TV episodes this week by rewatching the 1986 Cheers epsiode "Thanksgiving Orphans" and the 1999 Friends epsiode "The One Where Ross Got High." Between a classic food fight and a trifle gone bad that "tastes like feet" we look back with tons of laughs. All that talk about food also whets the appetite for our draft this week. We're taking the best food day of the year and drafting all the main dishes, side dishes, apps, and drinks that make it so scrumptious. Put on your bib as your'e sure to salivate over this one! | 1980: Caddyshack / Top Bill Murray Stuff | 25 Sep 2023 | 01:02:55
Send us a textIt's happening! After close to three years, we're finally talking about maybe our collective favorite movie ever: 1980's Caddyshack! No movie has been more quoted, more watched, and more important to bringing us together with our friends than Caddyshack. In this episode, we talk all about what makes it great in our opinion. One of the reasons Caddyshack is so wonderful is the performance of Bill Murray. While Ted Knight (Judge Smails), Rodney Dangerfield (Al Czervik), and Chevy Chase (Ty Webb) are also at the top of their game, Murray's Carl Spackler stands out as much as anyone else. We cap the episode off by drafting our favorite Bill Murray movies and other credits. Well...we're waiting...for you to listen! | 1980: Trivial Pursuit / Top Board Games of All-Time | 18 Sep 2023 | 01:04:54
Send us a textIf there is one thing we love at PCY more than nostalgia, it might be trivia. The arrival of Trivial Pursuit in the 80s took the board game world by storm. At least that's how we remembered it. We talk about our first memories of the game (Spiro Agnew) and even pit Brad against Giff in a quick trivia match. After the exciting mano a mano, we finish the episode by drafting our favorite board games. Do you like Scattergories, Pictionary, Monopoly, Sorry? | 1980: Flash Gordon / Top One-Time Movie Characters | 11 Sep 2023 | 01:36:59
Send us a textDave is back! When our sometime host Dave heard we were doing 1980, he requested we discuss one of his favorite movies, Flash Gordon. None of the rest of us had seen this movie, and it is quite an experience. While it may not be the best movie ever made, it definitely has found its way into pop culture still today, thanks in no small part to the movie Ted. It also doesn't hurt that the music was done by Queen. It's a movie everyone should probably see once. Flash Gordon was pretty clearly thought to be a franchise with multiple sequels, but it didn't work out that way. So our draft in this one is our favorite characters who only ever appeared in one movie. Obviously a very broad topic, we cover a lot of ground and are sure to mention many greats that you will love. | 1980: The Jerk (1979) / Top Quotes from The Jerk | 04 Sep 2023 | 00:49:47
Send us a textWe were 4 years old in 1980, so when we started this show we figured that would be as far back as we'd go. But now that we're actually focusing on the year 1980, we are making an exception. And you can ALWAYS make an exception for Steve Martin. The Jerk was released in December of 1979. But it was such a great and important movie (especially for Brad) that we're including it now. It'd a great way to kickoff the new month! We'll share our memories and break the movie down for you in all its glory. And since this is one of the most quotable movies of all-time, we finish it off by drafting our favorite quotes from the movie. It's a fun draft and a good way to keep us on track! | 2018: Life in Pieces / TV Series that Ended Too Soon | 28 Aug 2023 | 00:52:57
Send us a textWe're closing the yearbook on 2018 with a criminally underappreciated TV series, Life in Pieces. This show contained a fantastic cast including James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, Colin Hanks, and Betsy Brandt, among others. And if you liked Modern Family, you would be sure to love this too. We break down the cast, a classic episode, and much more. While fantastic, the series only ran 3 1/2 seasons. Giff, who chose this one, felt it was too short of a run. So we decided to draft our favorite TV series that ended too soon. Who was the lucky one to get first pick, and therefore, Freaks and Geeks? Find out now! | 2018: Cobra Kai / Violent Movies Draft | 21 Aug 2023 | 00:56:26
Send us a textin 2018 YouTube Red introduced a show called Cobra Kai. Filled with nostalgia, camp, and fun, this renewal of The Karate Kid series eventually took off when it became a Netflix show. Returning stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka made Pete's choice for 2018 a sensation for Gen Xers and a new generation alike. It is a show that also contained many (maybe over the top) violent scenes and fights. So after discussing the show and reliving the feel good nostalgia, we focus on violence. Our draft this week is about the most violent movies (or other things) we have seen. Do you think Quentin Tarantino will make an appearance, or two, or three? Find out now! | 2018: Harry Potter / Theme Parks / Vacation Destinations | 14 Aug 2023 | 01:16:58
Send us a textThe Harry Potter series has always been huge in Brad's family, and in 2018 they took a family trip to Universal Orlando, mostly for the Harry Potter parts of the park. It was fantastic time and led to this week's topics. We start with an overview of the HP series and a draft of our favorite HP characters. We then talk about theme parks like Universal and Disney. We share memories, favorite rides, attractions, and more. We also draft our favorite family vacation destinations (whether we've been there or want to go there). Harry Potter, vacations, TWO drafts: it's a jam packed episode! And if that isn't enough, we are once again visited by Giff's wife, Courtney! Tune in now for the fun! The book spills all the beans, but you can get a great preview by listening to this episode. She discusses Johnny Carson, being a contestant on The Dating Game, writing for game shows, and much more Hollywood dish. Buckle up and enjoy! Send us a textThis one is for the fans! If you support our Buy Me a Coffee, you can be a part of the show. And that is why we're talking about Run DMC! The supporter chose not to be on the show, so we enlisted Run DMC expert and superfan Def Dave to add to the fun (you may remember him from our Dukes of Hazzard episode). We talk about the band and its influence and break down Raising Hell track by track. For our draft, we branch out to all the great rap and hip hop gaining steam in the 80s. Send us a textDid you know you can be on our show? If you support us with money, we'll let you do almost anything you want. This week we have one of our best supporters back with us again: Brian Rappe! He has chosen the 90s classic Swingers, a choice that is so money. We're like big bears with claws, and we cover it all. Skinny Vince Vaughn, skinny Jon Favreau, the quotes, the movie references, the music: it's all here! Stick around for the fun after the movie as we discuss technology that we once thought would be game changing, but maybe...didn't quite work out that way. | 2nd Chance Month: Dragnet (1987) / Top Tom Hanks Stuff Draft | 24 Jul 2023 | 01:01:50
Send us a textPete's choice for a second chance is the Tom Hanks / Dan Aykroyd Dragnet reboot from 1987. While not well-received critically, we still love this movie which also stars Oscar winner Christopher Plummer and a host of PAGANs. We give you just the facts on this 80s classic. Hanks is in his prime comedic form at this time, and the goofy/funny Hanks is still our favorite Tom Hanks. So we also draft our favorite Tom Hanks appearances to finish this one off. Send us a textIn 1989, Janet Jackson released the monster album Rhythm Nation 1814. This just so happened to be the first CD Brad ever bought. We'll bring you back to that time in this episode and and break down one of the classic albums of the 80s...and 90s...and all-time really. Since this album was one of last huge releases of a great decade in music, we honor the decade by drafting our favorite albums of the 80s. There were so many to choose from. | 2nd Chance Month: Dumb and Dumber (1994) / Top Most Quotable Movies | 10 Jul 2023 | 01:07:29
Send us a textGiff's 2nd Chance is from 1994, what he describes as minute-for-minute the funniest movie ever: Dumb and Dumber. Jim Carrey was on a roll in 1994 and Jeff Daniels stepped out of his usual style to create a comedy classic. It's also the movie that got the Farrelly brothers off and running to dominate comedy in the 90s. In our minds, this is also one of the most quotable movies ever, which will be obvious as we take you through it. So to cap off the episode, we draft our favorite most quotable movies. You'll hear some of the classics like Caddyshack and Christmas Vacation and some that have made it into the everyday lexicon like Forrest Gump. What do you like to quote? Did it make our list? | 2007: Superbad / Top Comedies 2000-2009 | 26 Jun 2023 | 00:56:06
Send us a textWe're closing out 2007 with the high school classic Superbad. This small budget movie made big money with many stars who are still big today: Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, and Emma Stone were all in the early stages of their careers at the time. How does it hold up? How controversial will Brad be on this one? Superbad was just one of many comedies to explode through the 2000s. So we draft our favorites, including Wedding Crashers, Step Brothers, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Borat, and more. This is a fun list with no shortage of choices. Listen now! | 2007: The Simpsons Movie / Top Simpsons Episodes | 19 Jun 2023 | 01:11:15

| 2007: Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story / Top Cult Classic Comedies | 12 Jun 2023 | 01:03:28 | |
Send us a textIt's time to Walk Hard. In the 2000s the music biopic was big, and Dewey Cox skewered the format brilliantly. Wickedly funny, insane moments, and fantastic music all made this movie great. It was also littered with stars: John C. Reilly, Kristen Wiig, Tim Meadows, Harold Ramis, Jenna Fischer, Chris Parnell, Jack White, Jonah Hill, and more. But it was a total flop at the box office. Given a second life on DVD and streaming, it is now a cult classic. So we end the the episode by drafting our favorite cult classics and underappreciated comedies. This is a good one. | 1993: Seinfeld (Part 1) - "The Boyfriend" / Top 5 Episodes | 22 May 2023 | 01:22:12
Send us a textSeinfeld is one of the best sitcoms of all-time. We've been waiting to talk about since we started this podcast. Therefore, one episode isn't enough. In this first part, we discuss why we love the show so much and how we got into it. Then we talk about of the finest episodes ever, "The Boyfriend" from season 3. | 1988: A Fish Called Wanda / Top Award-Worthy Comedy Performances | 17 Apr 2023 | 01:20:26
Send us a textWe've talked a lot on this show about comedians not getting the credit they deserve. In this episode , we're changing that! Not only do we dive into the comedy caper classic A Fish Called Wanda, we give credit some of of favorite comedic performances of all-time. Kevin Kline steals the show with his Academy Award winning role of Otto. Not to be outdone, the film also has terrific turns from Jamie Lee Curtis, John Cleese, and Michael Palin. We break it down and repeat all the classic lines along the way. In a rarity, Kline won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in a comedic performance. We feel this should be a more common occurrence. So in this episode, we'll share our other favorite comedic performances of all-time. Comedy being our wheelhouse, we have a lot to choose from. Send us a textIt's time to wrap up Milestone Month, and we have a doozy of a movie for the occasion. Dave is still with us, and this film had a big impact on him and Brad. We close things out with another draft. This time anything the cast members have been in is up the picking. Send us a textThis is a big month at PCY as we will be sharing our 100th episode. This one is #99! To acknowledge the occasion, we are bringing back our originator Dave to celebrate. We have all agreed on the perfect choice for #100, but the rest of the month are his choices. What better way to start than with Dave's all-time favorite movie Big Trouble in Little China. This John Carpenter / Kurt Russell film from 1986 is a cult classic to many, but it is more than that for Dave. We break it down and find out if the rest of the gang feels the same way. Since BTILC wasn't a big hit and may be unfamiliar to many, it isn't always easy to recommend it to others for Dave. You never know how they will react. So this led to a great topic and conversation to end the show: the top 5 things you are hesitant to recommend to others. Find out what made our lists and how we made our choices by listening now! Send us a textOur third In Memoriam installment features James Caan. We've done Elf already, so we stick with another somewhat underrated choice, Honeymoon in Vegas. This has been a longtime favorite for Pete and Brad and Caan's performance opposite Nicolas Cage is a big reason why. Also starring Sarah Jessica Parker, and featuring roles by Pat Morita, Peter Boyle, Tony Shalhoub, and a young Bruno Mars, it's a star-studded affair. Listen to hear if it still holds up or if we felt like jumping out of a plane. Then stick around for our lists of Love Triangle movies. Listen to find out if it was as good as we remembered. Since Sigourney and Jennifer play mother-daughter con-women. we close this episode with our lists of favorite movies about con-artists. Send us a textTo close out the year, we are remembering some of those whom we lost in 2022. We've each chosen one person to remember by discussing a project they were associated with. First up, Brad chose Ivan Reitman, producer and director of some of the all-time classic comedies. We've already covered Ghostbusters, so we're discussing something a little more recent, the Ivan Reitman-produced platonic romantic comedy I Love You, Man starring Paul Rudd, Jason Segal, Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg, JK Simmons, Jane Curtin, Jon Favreau, and a host of others! Maybe a somewhat overlooked stone cold classic, are all three hosts in agreement of this movie's brilliance? We finish by discussing some of our favorite buddy comedies of all-time. Send us a textWe close out 2011 with some bad people. In life imitating art, one of these Horrible Bosses was actually a pretty horrible person (Kevin Spacey, cough, cough).
