Deathstalker (1983) Review26 Aug 202402:16:22

Deathstalker (1983) synopsis: “A lone warrior nicknamed Deathstalker is sent by a witch on a quest to find a sword, a chalice, and an amulet, two of which are held by the wicked king and sorcerer, Munkar.”

Starring: Rick Hill, Barbi Benton, Richard Brooker, and Lana Clarkson
Director: James Sbardellati

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak and Corey review the Roger Corman produced cult classic, Deathstalker! Throw in some fantastic locations & sets, sprinkle in some cheese, and then add a healthy dose of T&A and you get this early-80s gem. Deathstalker and our review are both very hard R’s, so make sure you put the kiddos to bed before watching the movie or listening to this episode. You’ve been warned lol!

A huge THANK YOU to Crystal for suggesting we review Deathstalker via our Patreon page! Her previews picks were My Bloody Valentine, Intruder, and The Monster Squad!

The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) Review01 Jul 202402:16:02

The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) synopsis: “A hobo accidentally stumbles onto a water spring, and creates a profitable way station in the middle of the desert.”

Starring: Jason Robards, Stella Stevens, David Warner, and Slim Pickens
Director: Sam Peckinpah

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak and Corey review The Ballad of Cable Hogue starring Jason Robards! A very interesting western movie that unfortunately bombed in the theater and derailed Peckinpah’s career a little bit. Which is a shame because The Ballad of Cable Hogue is a damn good movie with a fantastic cast and unique script!

Suburbia (1983) Review03 Oct 202202:32:54

Suburbia (1983) synopsis: “When household tensions and a sense of worthlessness overcome Evan, he finds escape when he clings with the orphans of a throw-away society.”

Starring: Chris Pedersen, Bill Coyne, Jennifer Clay, and Flea
Director: Penelope Spheeris

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak review Suburbia by Penelope Spheeris! This is another Patreon-selected film for review, and one that neither of the hosts have seen before. A rare thing to be sure! But the cool thing is, Suburbia feels right at home on Podcasting After Dark. This is an essential 80s cult movie and Corey and Zak are excited to have it in the PAD library!

Evil Dead: The Game (2022) synopsis: “Evil Dead: The Game is a 2022 survival horror game based on the Evil Dead franchise. It was developed and published by Saber Interactive. It features co-operative gameplay and player versus player combat.”

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey is flying solo while Zak recovers from COVID. That means you all are getting a video game review! It’s rare but he has done one before lol. The video game in question is one that should feel right at home on Podcasting After Dark- Evil Dead: The Game! That’s right! You get to play as either Ash Williams, one of his compatriots, or a Kandorian Demon. Spoiler alert: it’s as fun as it sounds!

TV Obscura - ABC Afterschool Special & CBS Schoolbreak Special19 Sep 202202:06:53

Diallo's Pick: The Amazing Cosmic Awareness of Duffy Moon (1976) - IMDb
Zak's Pick: The War Between the Classes (1985) - IMDb
Corey's Pick: The Day My Kid Went Punk (1987) - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo review three afterschool specials from the 70s and 80s! Two of them are from the ABC Afterschool Special series and one is from the CBS Schoolbreak Special series (up yours, NBC)!

Full disclosure: the discussion gets pretty deep on this episode, but that’s the intention of these specials- to create a conversation about social issues that people are uncomfortable to talk about! Of course, the boys try to inject as much levity as possible but, to be honest, since most of these topics are just as relevant today as they were 40+ years ago, it can be a little hard to find the humor sometimes.

We hope you enjoy this very special episode of TV Obscura, and don’t forget to check out the episodes we reviewed this week for FREE on our Patreon page!

Bachelor Party (1984) Review12 Sep 202204:01:54

Bachelor Party (1984) synopsis: “A soon-to-be-married man's friends throw him the ultimate bachelor party.”

Starring: Tom Hanks, Tawny Kitaen, Adrian Zmed, and Robert Prescott
Director: Neal Israel

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak review another Tom Hanks movie from the 80s, Bachelor Party! As you heard on their review of The ‘Burbs, this is their favorite era of Tom Hanks, back when he had a devil may care attitude and did a lot of weird full-body gyrations lol. Bachelor Party is a great example of what made him such a star… and a great example why Barry Diamond isn’t a star!

A huge THANK YOU to Erin for picking Bachelor Party through Patreon! She chose Hard Ticket To Hawaii a few months ago and now this forgotten gem! Make sure you check out her cult movie podcast, Manic Movie Monday on Spotify.

Interviews After Dark with William Sadler05 Sep 202201:12:15

Where you know him from: Die Hard 2 (1990), Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991), Demon Knight (1995), and VFW (2019)

This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to actor, William Sadler!

It was a huge honor to have William freakin' Sadler on the show! Like a lot of our listeners, both Zak and Corey grew up loving his movies. Everything from Demon Knight to Shawshank and all the ones too numerous to mention (we will mention VFW, though- check that out if you haven't)!

So, you could say he was a bit of an idol for the PAD-boys, and you know what they say about meeting your idols: don't do it... except in this case! William Sadler was absolutely delightful to talk to. A true gentleman and extremely humble. Everything Zak and Corey could hope for!

TV Obscura - Battle of the Planets, Bionic Six, C.O.P.S.29 Aug 202202:08:15

Diallo's Pick: Battle of the Planets (1978-80) - IMDb
Zak's Pick: Bionic Six (1987) - IMDb
Corey's Pick: C.O.P.S. (1988-89) - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo review three of their favorite cartoon teams from the 70s and 80s! First up, Diallo discusses Battle of the Planets aka G-Force aka Gatchaman! A show with a very complicated history and backstory. Zak follows that up with the pseudo-spinoff of Six Million Dollar Man & Bionic Woman, Bionic Six, while Corey rounds out the show with artist Bart Sears’ brainchild, C.O.P.S.. It’s a fun episode full of nostalgia and love… and love for nostalgia lol!

Interviews After Dark with Sean Whalen22 Aug 202201:00:28

Where you know him from: The People Under the Stairs (1991), Twister (1996), and Idle Hands (1999)

This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to actor, Sean Whalen!

By now you all should know, because he talks about it all the damn time: Co-host Corey went to the same high school as Sean Whalen (go Sherwood Warriors)! So, this interview was a pretty big deal for him. And for Zak too! The boys both loved the hell out of The People Under The Stairs (1991), and especially Sean Whalen's character, 'Roach.'

My Best Fiend (1999) Review15 Aug 202201:19:40

My Best Fiend (1999) synopsis: “In the 1950s, an adolescent Werner Herzog was transfixed by a film performance of the young Klaus Kinski. Years later, they would share an apartment where, in an unabated, forty-eight-hour fit of rage, Kinski completely destroyed the bathroom. From this chaos, a violent, love-hate, profoundly creative partnership was born.”

Director: Werner Herzog

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak conclude their two-part documentary review series with Werner Herzog’s My Best Fiend! Unlike Lost Soul, this film covers multiple productions and a lifetime of collaboration and animosity. If you’re a fan of either Werner Herzog or Klaus Kinski, or the creative process in generally, this is a must-watch documentary!

We hope you enjoy this free-form review of My Best Fiend! Leave a comment on our Instagram page or Patreon and let us know what you think of the episode.

Talking Back Swapcast: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) Review08 Aug 202202:00:50

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) synopsis: “Ten years after initially meeting, Anakin Skywalker shares a forbidden romance with Padmé Amidala, while Obi-Wan Kenobi investigates an assassination attempt on the senator and discovers a secret clone army crafted for the Jedi.”

Starring: Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, and Temuera Morrison
Director: George Lucas

Since Zak and Corey are both on vacation this week, Tim and Dean at Talking Back were nice enough to let us release their Attack of the Clones review that Corey guested on back in February! This is one part of a year-long walkthrough of the Star Wars franchise where Tim and Dean discuss a different movie each month in chronological order (including Solo and Rogue One). They just dropped their Return of the Jedi review so make sure you go back and listen to all the episodes in the series on the Talking Back podcast feeds!

Look for Corey to make one more appearance on Talking Back to discuss The Last Jedi in a couple months. Our intrepid co-host loves to defend the most hated of all the Star Wars films lol!

Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau (2014) Review01 Aug 202201:22:16

Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau (2014) synopsis: “A behind the scenes chronicle of how clash of vision, bad creative decisions, lack of interest and really bad weather plagued the disastrous production of the infamous The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996).”

Director: David Gregory

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak kick off their two-part documentary review series with Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau. This doc was produced in 2014 but chronicles that hot mess of a movie starring Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer! Lost Soul is a fantastic look into the filmmaking process in general and how easily it can all fall apart, especially when it’s helmed by a young auteur!

This month on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo discuss their favorite Cartoon Theme Songs! Interviews After Dark with Chelsea Field25 Jul 202201:00:32

Where you know her from: Masters of the Universe (1987), Death Spa (1988), and The Last Boy Scout (1991)

This month on Interviews After Dark (by way of Two Dollar Late Fee) we talk to ‘Virginia Slim’ herself, Chelsea Field!

This interview wraps-up our month-long crossover event with Two Dollar Late Fee. We hope you enjoyed this deep dive into Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991), and we hope you get a kick out of this chat with Chelsea Field. Corey, Zak, and Dustin talk to her about everything from her early career as a dancer to working with Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson. Chelsea admittedly doesn’t do a lot of interviews so you are not going to want to miss this rare conversation!

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991) Review17 Jul 202204:08:00

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991) synopsis: “Forced by the imminent foreclosure of their friend's bar, two lifelong buddies will decide to rob a bank's armored car, not knowing that its cargo is not money but a new street drug.”

Starring: Mickey Rourke, Don Johnson, Daniel Baldwin, and Chelsea Field
Director: Simon Wincer

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak are joined by special guest, Dustin Rubin to review Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man! This episode is the second part in our month-long crossover event with Two Dollar Late Fee. As you heard on the previous discussion, the gang isn’t too keen on the film, and not much changes with the full breakdown, but they still have an absolute blast chatting about the highs and (mostly) lows of this early-90s cult film.

Look for the full interview with Chelsea Field to drop next week as Corey, Zak, and Dustin conclude the Podcasting After Dark/Two Dollar Late Fee crossover!

Diallo: ReBoot (1994-97, 2001) - IMDb
Adam: Captain Simian & The Space Monkeys (1996) - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo are joined by special guest, Adam Speas of Cartwright! A Seinfeld Podcast to review four obscure cartoons from the 90s!

Well, some are more obscure than others lol. Adam was the perfect choice for this episode since he’s a 90s kid and has a huge love for nostalgia and everything retro, and he really hit a homerun bringing Captain Simian to the conversation. Two Dollar Late Fee Crossover: Harley Davidson and the The Marlboro Man & "Wanted Dead Or Alive"04 Jul 202201:44:36

The first episode of our second annual Two Dollar Late Fee crossover event is here! This time we are covering the early 90s Mickey Rourke/Don Johnson buddy movie, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991)!

Just like last year, the Two Dollar Late Fee general movie review and music discussion episode drops first. Then, in two weeks, look for our full Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man breakdown to drop, followed by our interview with Chelsea Field (which you’ll hear us reference multiple times this episode and on the breakdown).

We hope you have as much fun listening to this month-long crossover event as we had recording it! Remember: It’s better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool!

Interviews After Dark with Wings Hauser27 Jun 202201:12:47

Where you know him from: Vice Squad (1982), Deadly Force (1983), The Wind (1986), and Eve N' God: This Female is Not Yet Rated (TM) (2019)

This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to the man, the myth, the legend... Stoney Cooper himself, Wings Hauser!

This interview was a long time coming, as listeners of our podcast know, and it was everything we could have hoped for! Wings was very open and honest about his history in Hollywood, and even cleared up a few false rumors. He even gives a disturbing inside look into his personal inspiration for Ramrod's (Vice Squad) backstory. Wings does NOT hold back!

Unfortunately, the audio quality isn't as good as we would have hoped for. We had to record the episode in a conference room that wasn't made for audio recording lol! We don't think it diminishes the conversation by any means, though, and we look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts in the comments below.

Death Spa (1988) Review20 Jun 202203:29:35

Death Spa (1988) synopsis: “Gruesome deaths begin to occur at a hip Los Angeles health club.”

Starring: William Bumiller, Brenda Bakke, Merritt Butrick, and Chelsea Field
Director: Michael Fischa

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak and Corey break down and review the second movie in their two-part summer filmfest, Death Spa! The irony is, even though Zak picked it as his summer movie, Death Spa actually takes place in February for Mardi Gras. Double irony: Corey’s pick, The ‘Burbs, was released in February… and February is Corey’s birth month.

Where are we going with all of this? No where! Now, enjoy Death Spa (and we know our use of the word ‘irony’ is closer to Alanis Morissette’s definition)

TV Obscura - Matt Houston, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, The Insiders13 Jun 202201:40:42

Diallo’s pick: Matt Houston (1982-85) - IMDb
Corey’s pick: Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1983-87) - IMDb
Zak’s pick: The Insiders (1985) - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo dive into three quirky crime shows from the 80s! They aren’t quite comedies and they aren’t straight-up dramas either. Each show feels very unique but also of its time. The boys really did a great job of keeping this episode of TV Obscura focused and thematic this month!

Of course, Zak’s pick is the deepest of cuts. So much so there’s only one version of the pilot episode online and the IMDb uses screencaps from that video (time code and all). You can watch every episode we discussed free on our Patreon page. We hope you enjoy the show!

The 'Burbs (1989) Review06 Jun 202203:06:02

The ‘Burbs (1989) synopsis: “An overstressed suburbanite and his neighbors are convinced that the new family on the block are part of a murderous Satanic cult.”

Starring: Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Bruce Dern, and Rick Ducommun
Director: Joe Dante

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak break down and review the first movie in their two-part summer filmfest, The ‘Burbs (1989)! Corey is showrunning this episode since it’s his pick and look for Zak’s to drop in two weeks! Who loves The ‘Burbs as much as we do? It’s one of the last zany comedies Tom Hanks starred in before his trajectory changed and he became more of a dramatic actor. We miss this era Tom Hanks.

Also, Corey had a real hard time with Rick Ducommun’s last name so feel free to turn that into a drinking game. Leave us a comment on Patreon or our social media and let us know how that turned out for you lol!

As life-long TRON fans it was a dream come true for us to talk to RAM himself, Dan Shor! You'll also remember him from our review of Dead Kids aka Strange Behavior (1981) all the way back in our first season! That movie is worth tracking down just for the dance scene alone, but Dan Shor was fantastic in it as well. We really hope you enjoy this candid conversation with such a unique and interesting actor whose stardom is about to rise again!

Thank you to our Patrons for making this episode possible :)

The Wind (1986) Review23 May 202203:11:03

The Wind (1986) synopsis: “A popular crime novelist moves to a historic Greek village during the off-season in order to write her next book, but gets more than she bargained for when she strongly suspects a man of committing murder.”

Starring: Meg Foster, Wings Hauser, David McCallum, and Steve Railsback
Director: Nico Mastorakis

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak break down and review The Wind (1986)! A very unique thriller that’s shot and edited like an Italian Giallo-style supernatural film but isn’t. What it is is a strong villainous performance by Corey and Zak’s favorite cult movie actor, Wings Hauser! Pit him against Meg Foster and her haunting eyes and you have the recipe for a fantastic 80s movie that more people need to see!

Leave a comment on Instagram or Patreon and let us know what you think of The Wind and/or our ongoing Wings Hauser tribute series. We love hearing from you all!

This month on 80s Kids Unite, Zak, Dustin, Corey, and Diallo discuss their most disappointing 8bit Nintendo game experiences! It wasn’t easy being a young gamer in the 1980s. The only thing you had to go off of was the box cover and word of mouth! How did we ever survive?

TV Obscura - Inhumanoids, Centurions, Spiral Zone16 May 202201:54:09

Zak’s pick: Inhumanoids (1986) - IMDb
Diallo’s pick: Centurions (1986) - IMDb
Corey’s pick: Spiral Zone (1987) - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo dive into three of their favorite cartoons (and accompanying toys) from the 80s, two of which happen to be extremely dark and disturbing: Inhumanoids, Centurions, and Spiral Zone! In fact, so beloved are these tv shows that Corey and Zak had them on their watchlist before TV Obscura was even incepted!

So, the real question is, do these cartoons hold up? In a word, yes! In a lot more words, holy friggin’ crap they sure as Hell do! The boys also discuss the toys based on each franchise and even rate them, and we encourage you to do the same! Leave a comment on our social media pages or Patreon and let us know what you think of these cartoons!

This month on a special bonus episode of Interviews After Dark, we talk to Kevin Vonesper about his upcoming documentary film, The Life and SLIMES of Dukey Flyswatter and Haunted Garage now being funded on IndieGOGO!

Kevin gives us insight into who Dukey Flyswatter is, what’s going to be in the documentary, and some backstory on our most recent film review, Sorority Babes in the Slimball Bowl-O-Rama (1988). It’s a really fun discussion about a cult horror and LA punk icon from the 80s!

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988) Review09 May 202203:06:27

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988) synopsis: “As part of a sorority ritual, pledges and their male companions steal a trophy from a bowling alley; unbeknownst to them, it contains a devilish imp who makes their lives a living Hell.”

Starring: Andras Jones, Linnea Quigley, Robin Stille, and Dukey Flyswatter
Director: David DeCoteau

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak break down and review Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988)! This might be the most B movie the boys have every tackled on the show, but it’s not the first Linnea Quigley movie. It’s cool seeing her in a reluctant hero role instead of a victim… even if her acting left a lot to be desired.

Don’t worry, there’s more to love than hate with Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, and Corey and Zak sing its praises whenever applicable! Ironically, though, in a movie with this much full-frontal nudity Linnea doesn’t get naked at all. That alone makes it stand out in her filmography lol!

Interviews After Dark with Lia Montelongo02 May 202201:00:09

Where you know her from: Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) and Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (1997)

This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to actor and fitness instructor, Lia Montelongo!

As Queen Sindel in Mortal Kombat 3 she's one of the most evil and brutal characters on the game roster, but in real life she's one of the most down to earth and sweetest people Zak and Corey have ever interviewed on the show! Listen to Lia tell the story of how she came to be the youngest actor to play a Mortal Kombat character and how that lead her to the path of the spiritual warrior that she's on today! We hope you enjoy this uplifting discussion (also, Corey nerds out pretty hard over Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero lol)!

Aliens: Tribes (1992) Review - Talking Back Swapcast25 Apr 202201:24:50

Aliens: Tribes (1992) synopsis: “The Queen is dead. An orbiting medical facility has become infested with an Alien scourge. The unenviable task of destroying them has fallen to a military clean-up crew, and included in their armoury is a berserk warrior reined in by medical science with enough firepower to kill them all.”

Writer: Steve Bissett
Artist: David Dorman

“All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps!” To celebrate this year’s #AlienDay Zak and Corey teamed up with Tim and Dean of the Talking Back podcast to review the 1992 Dark Horse illustrated novella, Aliens: Tribes! It’s like the A-Team meets Colonial Marines and co-host Corey has been reading it regularly since he bought the first edition hardback! Don’t worry, don’t have to check eBay - Aliens: Tribes is available on the ComiXology app for only a few bucks (under the Marvel banner though since Disney now owns Fox).

Hard Ticket To Hawaii (1987) Review18 Apr 202203:13:48

Hard Ticket To Hawaii (1987) synopsis: “In Hawaii, an undercover DEA agent and her civilian friend stumble upon a drug trafficking operation, and have to enlist the help of all their colleagues/friends to go after the vicious drug kingpin.”

Starring: Ronn Moss, Dona Speir, Hope Marie Carlton, and Harold Diamond
Director: Andy Sidaris

This month on a Patreon-selected episode of Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak break down and review the Andy Sidaris magnum opus, Hard Ticket to Hawaii! This movie is wild ride and the boys have an absolute blast with it! They get pretty sleazy on this episode too, but how could they not? Hard Ticket to Hawaii is the ultimate Skinemax film with lots of T&A and beautiful male morons. Strap in and pay the price for paradise!

And speaking of paradise, a huge THANK YOU to Erin for selecting this movie for us to review!

Holy smokes, you guys! It's Babcock of Babcock & Finch fame!! You know, from our Dreamscape review episode. We even made a shirt of it lol! Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling (1985-86) - IMDb
Learning The Ropes (1988) - IMDb
Tagteam (1991) - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Zak, Corey, and Diallo celebrate Wrestlemania by diving into their favorite obscure wrestling TV shows from decades past! Zak is showrunning this episode because Corey isn’t as knowledgeable about the squared circle as he is, but SleazyC still holds his own during the conversation. Diallo, on the other hand, is in his natural element as he’s pretty much been a lifelong fan as well. We hope you all dig the episode even if you’re not a huge fan of wrestling in general. Dead Heat (1988) Review28 Mar 202203:32:28

Dead Heat (1988) synopsis: “A cop and his undead partner must chase down the diabolical villain who killed him.”

Starring: Treat Williams, Joe Piscopo, Lindsay Frost, and Darren McGavin
Director: Mark Goldblatt

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak & Corey breakdown and review the action/horror/comedy, Dead Heat! This is the second half of their two-part Treat Williams spotlight (listen to our Deep Rising review if you haven’t already) and the boys have a real blast with it. The only thing keeping Dead Heat from true greatness is Joe Piscopo… almost every single aspect of his performance is terrible, but he sure does have some sweet muscly arms lol!

Not only is he a titan in the voice actor industry but he's an absolute gentleman as well! Rob Paulsen is the real deal. And not just in regards to talent either. Starring: Chevy Chase, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, Tim Matheson, and Joe Don Baker
Director: Michael Ritchie

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak and Corey review Fletch! Longtime listeners of the show know this has been years in the making. The boys both love the hell outa Fletch and have teased reviewing it for a while. Well, the time is finally here, thanks to a brand new Blu-ray produced by Kino Lorber, and if you listened to the Ford Fairlane review then you have an idea how this episode is gonna go lol!

Deep Rising (1998) Review14 Mar 202203:12:37

Deep Rising (1998) synopsis: “A group of heavily armed hijackers board a luxury ocean liner in the South Pacific Ocean to loot it, only to do battle with a series of large-sized, tentacled, man-eating sea creatures who had already invaded the ship.”

Starring: Treat Williams, Famke Janssen, Wes Studi, and Kevin J. O'Connor
Director: Stephen Sommers

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey breaks down one of his favorite late-90s creature features, Stephen Sommers’ Deep Rising! A really fun sea monster movie that’s unfortunately dated by some pretty bad CGI. That doesn’t stop the boys from having a blast reviewing this cult film, though! Deep Rising holds up well in 2022 thanks to its stellar cast and fast pacing, and is still worth a viewing if you’ve never seen it before (or if it’s been 20+ years since you have).

And speaking of Deep Rising’s stellar cast, this is the first half of our two-part Treat Williams marathon! Look for us to break down and review the classic 80s zombie cop movie, Dead Heat in a couple weeks!

TV Obscura - G. I. Joe: The Movie (1987)07 Mar 202201:42:31

G. I. Joe: The Movie (1987) synopsis: “The heroic G.I. Joe action force must oppose the ruthless Cobra organization that has secretly allied with a subterranean reptilian people who were their founders.”

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, Corey, Zak, and Diallo have a roundtable discussion about G. I. Joe: The Movie (1987)! First of all, yes, G. I. Joe isn’t necessarily “obscure” but the boys are all fans of the franchise and really wanted an episode to talk about it. Also, seeing as how the world is heading towards another Cold War, this felt very timely.

We hope you enjoy the discussion because the boys plan on doing more G. I. Joe themed episodes in the future. Yooooooo Joe!!

Deadly Force (1983) Review28 Feb 202203:23:01

Deadly Force (1983) synopsis: “Stoney Cooper, a former Los Angeles police officer, is at a low point in his life. Kicked off the force because of his anti-authority attitude, he now ekes out a living as a freelancer in New York. All this changes when the daughter of an old friend is killed by a serial killer terrorizing L.A. Although almost nobody in his old home town is happy to see him back, Cooper pledges to bring the killer to justice before any more innocent people die.”

Starring: Wings Hauser, Joyce Ingalls, Paul Shenar, and Al Ruscio
Director: Paul Aaron

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak breaks down another cult classic Wings Hauser film, Deadly Force! Much to Corey’s amazement, it’s everything he ever wanted Vice Squad and L.A. Bounty to be. And, much to both of our intrepid host’s amazement, it might just be the best Wings Hauser movie they’ve covered on the show thus far (including Mutant)!

So what makes Deadly Force so damn good? You’ll have to listen to the episode to find out, but we can tell you one thing- you will hear co-host Corey singing. Whether or not that’s a good thing we’ll let you all decide lol!

This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to Catherine Mary Stewart!

As you know from our Night of the Comet review, we loved Catherine Mary Stewart as 'Regina Belmont' in that cult classic 80s horror movie, but we equally loved her as 'Gwen' in Weekend At Bernie's lol! We discuss these movies plus 1980's The Apple and a whole lot more (including some info on the Last Star Fighter sequel) in this fantastic conversation! My Bloody Valentine (1981) Review14 Feb 202202:53:19

My Bloody Valentine (1981) synopsis: “A decades-old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine's Day turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer's order and people start turning up dead.”

Starring: Paul Kelman, Lori Hallier, Neil Affleck, and Don Francks
Director: George Mihalka

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s appropriate that we are dropping our review of the original (and uncut version of) My Bloody Valentine (1981)! A movie that ranks very high on a lot of horror fan’s favorite slasher lists. And why shouldn’t it? My Bloody Valentine is a bloody good time! This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to actor and acting coach, Tony O'Dell!

It was such an honor to have a chance to talk to Tony O'Dell this month! We chatted about everything from working late nights on Chopping Mall to becoming an acting coach for a rising star (it's freakin' Zendaya!!) and all the twists and turns in between! From Beyond (1986) Review24 Jan 202202:43:53

From Beyond (1986) synopsis: “A group of scientists have developed the Resonator, a machine which allows whoever is within range to see beyond normal perceptible reality. But when the experiment succeeds, they are immediately attacked by terrible life forms.”

Starring: Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ted Sorel, and Ken Foree
Director: Stuart Gordon

This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak tackle their first (but definitely not last) Stuart Gordon film. No, not Re-Animator…From Beyond! This was one of Corey’s childhood traumas discussed on a previous Watchlist so it was somewhat therapeutic for him to breakdown the entire movie. Unlike Crawford facing his own fears in the Pretorius House, Corey faced his and walked away with his head (and kneecaps) intact!

Strange Luck (1995-96) starring D.B. Sweeney, Pamela Gidley, Cynthia Martells - IMDb
G vs. E (1999-00) starring Clayton Rohner, Richard Brooks, Googy Gress - IMDb

This week on Podcasting After Dark presents TV Obscura, the boys dive into a few of their favorite late-90s hour-long genre shows. First up, Corey talks about his love for M.A.N.T.I.S., then Diallo dives into the D.B. Sweeney vehicle, Strange Luck, and finally Zak gushes all over G vs E (aka Good vs Evil)! Scanners (1981) Review10 Jan 202203:43:39

Scanners (1981) synopsis: “A scientist trains a man with an advanced telepathic ability called "scanning", to stop a dangerous Scanner with extraordinary psychic powers from waging war against non scanners.”

Starring: Stephen Lack, Patrick McGoohan, Jennifer O'Neill, and Michael Ironside
Director: David Cronenberg

This week on Podcasting After Dark, co-host Zak walks us through our second David Cronenberg film (the first one being Shivers a few months ago). While Scanners might not get as much mainstream notoriety as The Fly we feel its influences are felt much further. It also holds up very well in 2022 as it touches on a lot of contemporary themes such as privatized security forces and big pharma pulling strings. David Cronenberg was truly ahead of his time with Scanners!

We’re happy to help spread the word about our favorite 90s-throwback, indie-horror movie! Filmed in and around Eugene, OR (co-host Corey’s adopted home), Bampire promises to bring the gore and the laughs when it drops later this year! Listen to Zak and Corey discuss the trials and tribulations of filming a low budget horror movie, and the inspirations behind it, with the creators of Bampire!

Bampire has already reached its funding goals but still needs more donations to keep growing! If you would like to help support a fun project then check out their IndieGOGO campaign!

Interviews After Dark with Patricia Tallman03 Jan 202201:05:20

Where you know her from: Night of the Living Dead (1990), Army of Darkness (1992), and Babylon 5 (1993-98)

It was a literally dream come true for us to interview the incredibly talented and kindhearted, Patricia Tallman! Zak and Corey are both huge fans of the Night of the Living Dead remake by Tom Savini and she is a big reason for that. Patricia Tallman and Savini turned what was a very weak character in the original film into a total badass fit for a post-Ellen Ripley moviescape!

We talk to Patricia Tallman about Night of the Living Dead (she shares stories of her pranking Tony Todd), Babylon 5, being a stuntwoman in Hollywood, and her spirituality (which is a huge part of her life). It's a wonderful interview and we hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did recording it!

Black Christmas (1974) Review25 Dec 202103:21:06

Black Christmas (1974) synopsis: “During their Christmas break, a group of sorority girls are stalked by a stranger.”

Starring: Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, and John Saxon
Director: Bob Clark

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (and Happy Festivus)! This week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey walks us through his favorite Christmas horror film as he breaks down the original slasher, Black Christmas (1974). While it may not be perfect, few firsts in any genre are, it more than makes up for its shortcomings with a stellar cast, great humor, and genuinely shocking imagery. Bob Clark was truly a master of his craft!

This month on Interviews After Dark we talk to actor, Dedee Pfeiffer!

It was a huge honor to talk to Dedee Pfeiffer, and just in time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Vamp! She is such a beautiful soul who isn't afraid to talk about her career, her battle with addiction, rehab, and her return to acting. It was a very insightful and heartfelt discussion and we hope you enjoy it.
