143. Obedience, Oil & Orlando: The Assignment I Couldn’t Ignore03 Jun 202500:16:40

What's going on, it's your girl, Rachel Luna, and after a tech break that tested everything from my patience to my podcast platform, I’m back — and I’m coming in hot with a message on devotion, surrender, obedience, and legacy.

This episode isn’t about business strategy. It’s about what happens when God gives you the green light — and your obedience determines whether or not you walk in the oil. I’m sharing what it’s looked like for me to say yes to an assignment from God — not because it makes “business sense,” but because it’s what God asked. And obedience is the assignment.

Why You Should Listen to This Episode:
  • You’ll hear the real reason the podcast went silent — and what God taught me in the pause.
  • I break down the difference between surrender and passivity (this will shift how you hear God’s instructions).
  • I’ll walk you through how to release emotional attachment to outcomes using the All Outcomes Matrix (from Chapter 7 of Permission to Offend).
  • I share a vision I had — complete with oil, arrows, and a dark forest — that made me say yes to the assignment, even when it didn’t make logical sense.
  • You’ll understand why devotion leads to obedience, obedience leads to legacy, and why legacy always demands faith.

If you’ve ever wrestled with what it means to follow God when it’s uncomfortable, uncertain, or inconvenient — this episode is for you.

142. I suck! (And maybe you should too!)29 Apr 202500:20:25

Hello! Hello! This is Rachel Luna, and today’s episode is a gut check. I’m asking you a question that most people avoid: Are you really willing to be bad at something long enough to get good?

If you’ve been waiting to feel ready, if you’ve been caught up in perfectionism, or if you’ve been afraid of showing the messy middle... this conversation is going to be a heart-to-heart you didn’t know you needed.

Why You Should Listen to This Episode:
  • You’ll find out why not allowing yourself to "suck" is secretly stunting your growth.
  • I’ll share my personal stories of getting stuck in perfectionism—and how I’m breaking free by embracing the messy middle.
  • You’ll understand why getting reps in (even when it feels ugly) is the real path to mastery and momentum.
  • I’ll invite you to drop the shame, perfectionism, and overthinking and start building real confidence through action.

This episode will challenge you—but in the best way possible. If you want real expansion, you have to be willing to be seen before you’re polished.

133. Why You Crush It for Others but Get Stuck on Your Own Goals14 Jan 202500:09:02

In this quick business bite, I’m getting real about something I know many of us face: why we seem to hit a brick wall when it comes to getting things done for ourselves—but can effortlessly execute the same tasks for others.

I share a personal example about creating lead magnets and funnels for my business (and the lies I caught myself believing about how “hard” it would be).

This episode is a reminder to stop believing every thought you think and to challenge the stories that hold you back.

It’s about getting out of your own way, taking action, and testing your ideas—even if the results aren’t perfect right away. I also touch on why your audience may shift with your offers and why that’s okay.

Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and most importantly, do something with what you’ve learned.

If you’re ready to prioritize action and stop overthinking, this episode is for you.

What’s your big dream? You know the one you’ve had for as long as you can remember. My childhood dream has always been to have my own book published and on the shelves of Barnes & Noble. I’ve envisioned it so many times it already feels real. And now, soon it will be!

In the first part of this episode, I really want to encourage you to allow yourself to get it wrong. Whatever it is. So often we hold ourselves back from really pursuing our goals because we don’t want to mess it up. But reality is, we almost always have a chance to try again or correct our mistakes. I truly want to see us all give ourselves permission to take your shot! No holding back in fear.

In the rest of the episode, I share what I did (and did not) need to do to get a 6-figure book deal with a top 5 publisher! My hope is that hearing my story of persistence will light a fire under you to go all in on yourself and take your shot!

3 Reasons You Should Listen to Today's Episode

  • You’ll hear what I needed to do (and not do) to get a 6-figure book deal!
  • If you’ve had a big goal or dream… and it just feels like it’s taking forever and may not ever happen, you’ll want to listen in. I hope me sharing my experience of persistence and keeping faith will inspire you in your pursuit of your dreams.

23. If You Believe it29 Dec 202000:18:14

Who do you have to be today to achieve your dreams?

As we enter a fresh new year, perhaps you are revisiting your goals or setting new ones. That’s exactly what my Faith Activated Journaling community and I have been doing. This prompt was a juicy one that really got me digging deep into a belief I discovered lurking in my subconscious.

Then to take it even deeper, I heard my friend Marshawn say “If you believe it, you’ll build it. If you doubt it, you’ll delay it.” Phew! That really resonated as I journaled about who I need to be today to achieve my dreams.

It’s honestly not so much about the incident as it is about giving ourselves permission to challenge your beliefs. The sooner we all become vulnerable enough to examine our beliefs, the sooner we can step into the version of ourselves that makes our goals possible. If you want to start 2021 off strong, listen in!

3 Reasons You Should Listen to Today's Episode

  • You are worthy of being in rooms with people “ahead” of you because you bring your own set of value. Maybe you need that reminder?
  • Are the things you believe actually true? In this episode, I share very vulnerably some beliefs I have that I’m challenging myself about.
  • If you’ve found yourself having this or that beliefs instead of this and that, I give you some ways to shift and get out of your own way.

21. 5-Min Mic Drop on Judgment22 Dec 202000:05:51

Are you open to have a conversation with someone who has judged you before deciding your feelings?

Reality is, we’re all being judged and we are all judging on the daily. The question is, how are we going to let those judgments affect us?

This episode is a followup after I got feedback about a livestream I did. She said I should word things different if I’m trying not to judge. It’s honestly not so much about the incident as it is about giving ourselves permission to resist the need to be accepted by everybody. The sooner we all accept judging is happening all the time, the better we will be when we can say “so what.” Then we can move on to having meaningful conversations.

3 Reasons You Should Listen to Today's Episode

  • You find receiving judgment hard and feel like it really affects your thoughts and actions.
  • You’re tired of walking on eggshells because of what other people say or you think they’ll say. Time to say “so what” and live your life with permission to offend.
  • You react to the judgments of others… and you’d like to be open to having conversations with someone who has judged you to understand where they’re coming from so you can then decide how you’re going to feel about it.

15. 3 Strategies to Stay Social Media Sober24 Nov 202000:17:52

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Does this sound familiar? You wake up and even before your eyes open, your hand is reaching for your phone. You swipe it open, check social media, and before you know it, you’re on a stories binge watching everyone living their best lives while you’re still laying there without your teeth brushed. Yeah, that used to be me, too!

On episode 13, I shared the top 5 lessons I learned when I took a 2 week social media fast… and let me tell you, I learned a lot… and now I’m back sharing what I’m doing to stay clean after my social media detox so I don’t relapse into social media dopamine addiction. So much good stuff!

In this episode, I share how my morning routine has drastically changed since my social media detox, my intentionality has increased, and how & why I’m delegating metrics. I believe when we experience new things, it’s the perfect time to give yourself permission to build new habits. And like all the best lessons, what I learned about my brain, behavior, and myself has helped me change my habits moving forward when it comes to social media. Let’s dive in!

3 Reasons You Should Listen to Today's Episode

- When you wake up, your hand grabs your phone before your eyes are even open. Yep, I used to be you. I share how a social media sober morning routine looks differently for me than before my social media detox.

Is the title of this episode a bit dramatic? Mayhap, but I assure you, there were far too many moments when it felt 100% accurate - my award-winning book was ruining my life!

Tune in as, per usual, I give you the unfiltered story of how writing my book, Permission to Offend: The Compassionate Guide for Living Unfiltered and Unafraid, paradoxically muzzled my message.

Listen in as I explore the dissonance created by trying to live up to the standard of being the "empathetic offender" 24/7, the impossibility of perfection, and how this unrealistic expectation held me back from showing up fully self-expressed.

I also set the record straight for how I'm choosing to move forward, plus a little bonus step for you and a whole lot more.

Dive in, start listening and make sure you -

Apply What You Heard:

  1. Audit Your Perfectionism: Reflect on one area of your life where you might be holding yourself to an impossible standard. Ask yourself: Is this how I want to continue operating in 2025?
  2. Use the All-Outcomes Matrix: As described in Chapter 7 of Permission to Offend, use this tool to clarify possible outcomes and guide your decision-making.
  3. Practice Letting Go: Identify a situation where you’ve been afraid of being misunderstood. Take a deep breath, and remind yourself: “It’s okay to let them misunderstand me.”

13. 5 Lessons Learned After Leaving Social Media17 Nov 202000:14:41

How many times do you pick up your phone in a day?

On November 1st I deleted all social media apps from my phone. Gone. As I shared last week in episode 11, I chose to take a 2 week social media fast… and let me tell you, I learned a lot… and I’m sharing those lessons with you today. So much good stuff!

In this episode, I share 5 lessons I learned from taking time away from social media and spending more quality time with myself. I believe when we experience new things, it’s the perfect time to give yourself permission to get curious. And like all the best lessons, what I learned about my brain, behavior, and myself has helped me change my habits moving forward when it comes to social media. Let’s dive in!

3 Reasons You Should Listen to Today's Episode

- Dopamine withdrawal is a real thing! I share nerdy facts about the connection between our brains, social media, and content creation. You’ll be shocked by how many times on average we pick up our phones each day! I have a hypothesis to run by you as well.

- If you’re like me, you’d think productivity would be off the charts without social media, right?! Turns out, productivity is a choice. Let me explain my surprising discovery.

- Two treasures that came from the quiet when you’re not consuming. These two things alone are incentive alone to change the way I engage with and consume social media moving forward.

Where can you give yourself permission to protect your peace

Have you ever noticed when something that usually brings you energy and joy… starts to lose it spark for you? Or maybe even a step further, it starts draining you and you start experiencing dread or resentment? Yeah, I experienced that recently, too.

In this episode of the Permission to Offend podcast, I share how I knew I needed to protect my energy and peace in a new way and why I chose to be off social media for a period of time, even though that is usually a place I find joy and connection. I hope that sharing my experience challenges you to assess where you’ve been showing up or going through the motions because you feel an expectation from others and instead give yourself permission to protect your peace, even if it disappoints others (or messes with the algorithm).

3 Reasons You Should Listen to Today's Episode

 - If you’ve ever had an idea and weren’t sure when to take action and when to hold off.

 - If you’ve considered taking a break from social media and yet feel pulled in all directions.

129. Finding Joy, Discipline, and Dreaming Again28 Dec 202400:27:10

If you've ever been called (or felt) "lazy," and undisciplined, this episode is for YOU!

Hey there, it's me, Rachel Luna. I'm recording this episode way past my bedtime, but I needed to get this out to you.

In fact, I owe you an apology. This is the third (or maybe fourth?) episode I’ve recorded in the last month that I haven’t published yet. By the time you hear this, you might find a whole flood of episodes hitting your feed. But I couldn’t hold off on recording this one because it’s something that’s been weighing on my heart, and I know it might be exactly what you need to hear.

In this episode, I’m diving into some reflections on consistency, discipline, and the role joy plays in sustaining them. My dear friends Patrice Washington and Candace L. Davis have inspired me so much in this area lately.

Patrice is running a consistency challenge in her community, where she’s showing up live every single day. Watching her commitment got me thinking about trying a 365-day challenge myself. But if I’m being honest, I know I’m not ready for that kind of long-term commitment—yet.

Then there’s Candace, my writing coach and book editor. She’s been my accountability partner for what we’ve been calling a “CEO, millionaire mindset.”

In one of our conversations, I had a big realization: “Lazy Rachel” and “CEO Rachel” are not congruent. While I’m not truly lazy, I’ve often been undisciplined.

When I dug deeper, I realized the root cause (which I reveal to you in this episode, so start listening now). Because the truth is, for the past five years, ever since my cancer diagnosis, I’ve been stuck in “survival mode.” My only dream was to live, and I let that focus override everything else.

But here’s the thing: the human brain is wired to seek pleasure. Without joy and fulfillment, discipline becomes so much harder. And while “survival mode” kept me alive, it also stopped me from dreaming, playing, and pursuing bigger goals.

Wanna know the shift I'm making to make the process, the habits and discipline follow naturally? Then listen to this episode now.

As we approach a new year, I want to encourage you to join me in this journey.

Apply What You Heard:

  • Go to B.A.T. for yourself! (Belief Audit Time is a powerful exercise which we talk about in this episode and I also give examples of in my award-winning book, Permission to Offend: The Compassionate Guide for Living Unfiltered & Unafraid.
  • Identify one habit or discipline you want to focus on in 2025 and brainstorm ways to make it more enjoyable (I explain WHY this part is critical in the episode)
  • Start dreaming again! Are you stuck in survival mode? Tune in to this episode to hear my personal story and the steps I’m taking to dream bigger and live with more excitement and purpose.

Please leave a review and share with a friend! Your review makes a huge impact and if this episode was valuable at all, I'd be so grateful if you took 45 seconds to leave an honest review. Thanks in advance!

4. How Standing up to Family Led to a 7-Figure Business ft Shannan Monson15 Oct 202000:46:17

What if standing up led you to a million dollar business?

My guest today on the Permission to Offend podcast, Shannan Monson, shares the journey from dietician to 7-figure CEO and how working with me helped her make the shift and break through her plateau.

In this episode, Shannan shares how she went from $250,000 to $1Million in about 4 months after working with me.

While Shannan and I may have been connected because I was her coach, the reality is, she coaches me just as much - if not more - these days.

Whether she's showing me how to leverage Instagram Reels or how to create more streamlined processes in my business, I heavily lean on Shannan to help me become a better CEO.

I know you’re going to love our conversation!

Here’s a glance at what Shannan & I talk about:

- Her massive growth from dietician to 7- figure CEO

- Gender roles & how she out-earned her husband

- Staying in "your place" vs. going where you're called

- How she handled being called "selfish"

- How trying not to appear selfish led to Shannan not buying anything for herself

- Giving herself permission to put her goals first

Journal Prompt:

If I made myself the priority today, how would I show up?
