James Elliott of Filigree & Shadow 04 Feb 202400:59:04

Founder and perfumer for Seattle-based brand Filigree & Shadow, James Elliott joins me to talk self-teaching, the logistics of being a one man brand, a little politics, and plenty of name dropping, among other things.

Thank you for not swearing, James, but you really could have.

P.S. The word he was searching for was "stability".

The Beauty Of Blind Smelling10 Oct 202300:49:05
Nine different perfumes. Five different brands. Two people. One nose. Zero eyes (well, virtually). I sent my friend Henna, unidentified samples of perfume from my own collection, so she could smell with no preconceived ideas, unconscious bias, and only her nose to tell her what her brain should like, or not like. In this episode some of my favourite perfumes will be judged and ranked, with our own notes compared. The perfume brands are L'Artisan Parfumeur, Anatole Lebreton, Serge Lutens, Parfum d'Empire, and Etat Libre d'Orange. Pia Long - Boujee Magic & Olfiction Tales26 Jan 202400:56:01

I've been wanting to have this chat with Pia ever since I met her, nearly 12 months ago.

As you'll discover, Pia describes the journey that led her to launching a perfume consultancy business and an exciting new perfume brand with her friend and creative/business partner, Nick Gilbert.

I do have to apologise that due to an internet failure, I lost connection and wasn't able to have Pia discuss the final point I raised, but I will leave a link here, because it's important reading:
