What We Get Wrong about OAB: An Interview with Taryn Hallam
lundi 9 septembre 2024 • Duration 01:06:45
A dynamic speaker and teacher, Taryn has personally educated more clinicians in fitting pessaries than anyone else in the world! She's fresh off an 11-city US 'tour' where she taught hands-on pessary fitting this last year. And she's returning to PelviCon by popular demand!
In this 'sode we discuss her PelviCon topic - overactive bladder (OAB) - and what all of us are getting wrong as we treat patients dealing with this syndrome.
Another big theme of this conversation (and Taryn's sold-out Pre-Con at PelviCon) is how to empower our pregnant patients.
We also discuss where US rehab providers are ahead and behind of the rest of the world, what was most surprising about her first PelviCon experience, and how she has worked to combat the 'heaviness' of our profession.
Don't miss this incredible conversation, and Taryn's extended PelviCon presentation will be a part of the recording!
Taryn Hallam
Founder of the Women's Health Training Associates (WHTA) in Australia, Taryn has trained more rehab providers than anyone else in fitting pessaries. Make sure you check out her information and annual Research Update at https://www.whta-members.com.

When To Open a Second Location
jeudi 21 septembre 2023 • Duration 29:22
Wondered about expanding into a second location?
It's one of the most common business questions we get. I think we often get caught up in what's 'next.' Or the fear of missing out on an opportunity. But it it aligned with your goals for starting a practice?
We've had the opportunity to expand to a second location several times over the history of PelvicSanity, and have turned them down each time. We'll explain why, and the lessons we've learned from helping other practice owners build into a second location.
We'll talk about the pros and cons of a second location (and there are a lot of cons you'll have to navigate).
Sure, it can present exciting opportunities like reaching a new market or providing more room for your clinicians. But let's not ignore the challenges - increased costs, potential dilution of your practice’s culture, and facility issues. We go beyond the surface and consider the motivations that may be driving this desire: perceived opportunities, clinician preference, fear, or maybe even ego.
Lastly, we discuss factors that could influence the success of expansion. We stress the need for a comprehensive plan that takes into account everything from product control to potential increase in rent. But most importantly, we underscore the importance of maintaining practice integrity and family time while attempting to expand your business. Join us for an insightful conversation, as we help you make an informed decision about whether a second location is the right move for your practice.

Preventing Patient Flares
lundi 18 septembre 2023 • Duration 23:09
We've talked about managing flares, but can we prevent them in the first place?
In this 'sode we dive into what actually causes a flare, how to prevent them from happening and make sure your patient is prepared if symptoms do increase.
We also discuss the complicated balancing act between treating so timidly you aren't making a change vs. repeatedly flaring your patients.
In order to prevent flares you'll need to address two things: the irritability of the tissue and the irritability of the patient's nervous system. Effective communication is one of your most important tools in preventing - or managing - symptom flares and building trust with your patient.
Let's work upstream to prevent as many of these flares as possible, equip our patients so they don't come as a surprise and manage flares when they do arise!

Cash-Based Services Increase Patient Access
jeudi 31 août 2023 • Duration 32:20
Have you ever been told that cash-based services limit healthcare access? We're spending this 'sode debunking that myth!
There are many barriers to access. Cost is one of them....but it's only one. Not knowing about our services, distance, setting and wait lists all inhibit access to pelvic health care.
We believe that cash-based practices, through active community engagement and education, are making a dramatic improvement in access to care. By offering more choice to patients, everyone wins.
