| The Practice of Being: Reflecting on 2025, Entering 2026 | 03 Jan 2026 | 00:32:06 | |
In this episode of The Practice of Being, I explore reflecting on the year that has passed and how we can step into the year ahead from a place of presence rather than striving. Together, we look back on 2025 from a place of self awareness, reflecting on our relationships, work, dreams, and inner life. This is not about judgement or regret, but about taking responsibility with kindness: acknowledging where we showed up well, where we may have acted differently, and what the year has revealed about what truly matters to us. I also explore the goals and aspirations we held, those we achieved, and those we abandoned, asking whether they were truly aligned with our hearts, or driven by expectation, fear, or comparison. We reflect on the role of inner work in shaping our outer lives, and how clearing old patterns, reactivity, and conditioning creates space for something new to emerge. Looking ahead to 2026, this episode suggests you to dream as big as your heart desires, while remembering that what we cultivate within is always reflected outward. When we begin from being, action flows with greater ease, clarity, and a sense of magic. This episode asks us to pause, reflect, and step forward from inner alignment.
| Trying Too Hard: Effort, Exhaustion, and the Path to Ease | 27 Dec 2025 | 00:31:55 | |
In this episode, I’m joined by Anadi Taylor for a reflective conversation about the tendency to 'try too hard' and the often unseen cost of living in constant effort. We explore what “trying too hard” really means, why so many people fall into this pattern, and how the short-term rewards of approval, achievement, and control can quietly lead to exhaustion, burnout, and disconnection from ourselves. Together, we look at how early conditioning, parental expectations, and social and peer pressures shape this drive to over-effort, often without our conscious awareness. We also explore what becomes possible when we introduce greater stillness within our actions - not through withdrawal or passivity, but through clarity, presence, and a genuine willingness to let go of patterns that no longer serve. This conversation is an invitation to question where effort has become habit, and how meaningful change begins with the true desire to live differently. This conversation with Anadi Taylor forms part of my ongoing series, 'The Practise of Being', a collection of reflections and conversations exploring how we live, act, and relate when we soften habitual striving and return to presence, clarity, and inner ease.

The Description In this inspiring follow-up conversation, I speak once again with ultra-runner Jamie Vidler, fresh from completing his extraordinary 250k ultra challenge across the Pembrokeshire coastal paths. Over five days of mainly relentless mud, wind, and rain - with just one sunny day to start - Jamie not only faced the brutal physical demands of the terrain but also confronted the internal challenges that long-distance endurance brings. Running this ultra wasn’t just about distance, it was about raising awareness and funds for Big Moose, a charity dedicated to providing free therapy for those who need it but cannot afford it. Alongside his full-time corporate job in retail and his ongoing training as a breathwork coach, Jamie found the time and commitment to prepare for this immense challenge. In our conversation, he shares the lessons of resilience, the deep inner awareness that emerged, and the reflections that only an experience of this intensity can bring. This is a story of endurance, growth, and the power of pushing beyond what we think is possible, both in body and in mind. | Unconditional Love: A Daily Practice of Letting Go | 20 Dec 2025 | 00:22:42
In this solo episode, I explore unconditional love as a living, breathing practice, one that asks us to recognise the divinity within ourselves and in everyone we meet. Unconditional love is not a destination, but a journey of gently clearing the layers that obscure our true nature: identification with thoughts, emotions, opinions, judgements, control, and the need for others or life to be different. Through conscious presence and compassion, we begin to meet life exactly as it is, without expectation. Reactivity becomes a guide rather than a problem, pointing us toward the places within that are asking for more love, breath, and understanding. As we learn to soften resistance and respond with awareness, love naturally deepens and expands. This episode also explores an important truth: unconditional love does not mean tolerating harmful behaviour. Sometimes, the most loving act is to set clear boundaries or to step away from a person or situation. We are all a work in progress, and this practice is ongoing, a moment-to-moment invitation to breathe, let go, and return to love.
| From Self-Doubt to Self-Expression: Living Beyond Imposter Syndrome | 18 Aug 2025 | 00:34:17 | |
In this episode, I explore imposter syndrome, a psychological pattern where even high achievers struggle with persistent self-doubt, fear of being “found out,” and difficulty accepting their own successes. I look at how this inner critic affects all areas of life, fueling perfectionism, overwork, and comparison, and how recognising that everyone experiences vulnerability can begin to free us. Most importantly, I share practical ways to reconnect with your true self: This is an invitation to step out of fear, silence the inner critic, and reclaim your confidence, resilience, and joy.

Julia Chi and Anadi James explore the power of perspective and how the lens through which we view the world is shaped by our own conditioning, beliefs, and lived experiences. We often think we’re seeing reality "as it is," but in truth, we’re seeing it as we are. This conversation dives into how awareness of our personal paradigm opens the door to greater understanding, connection, and emotional freedom. Together, Julia and Anadi share how true listening — fully hearing another without filtering their words through our own assumptions — is a transformative act. It allows us to cross the bridge into someone else’s world, expanding our own in the process. By becoming more curious and less certain, and by embracing different perspectives, we create space for deeper connection, richer conversations, and a more peaceful inner life.

In this episode, Julia explores one of the most liberating truths we often forget: you are allowed to choose the life you want! She looks at why so many of us wait for permission, from society, from family expectations, from old conditioning, or from outdated versions of ourselves. She talks about how unconscious “shoulds” shape our choices, how inherited scripts limit our expression, and how fear of failure and success, keeps us playing small. Julia prompts you to recognise the beliefs that no longer fit, release obligations that drain you, and reconnect with what you genuinely desire! She speaks about the beauty of beginning again, the courage required to be authentic, and the freedom that comes when we give ourselves permission to evolve, pivot, and live life as an experiment rather than a performance. This episode is an empowering reminder that you are allowed to stop, to start, to change your mind, and to become fully yourself.

| Anadi James in Conversation with Julia Chi about intentional dialogue as the bedrock to relating consciously | 26 Mar 2023 | 00:30:53 | |
In this podcast Julia has a conversation with her husband Anadi about being conscious in relating, with the bedrock of this being Intentional Dialogue. We need to fully hear the message a person is sending so that they will feel deeply heard. The realisation that you accurately understand someone is wonderful for them and a growth experience for you, even if you do not agree with them! One of the most effective forms of healing communication between persons in any intimate relationship, or in fact in any relationship is the intentional dialogue. It consists of three steps: mirroring, validation, and empathy. Practicing these steps will feel awkward at first as well as difficult. But as you practice, the lines between each step slowly dissolve and you move from practicing dialogical to it becoming a natural way of communicating. Dialogue helps us understand the unique inner world of the person you are in dialogue with. We learn to see how their world works for them and so create and maintain connection, rather than misunderstanding each other or in conflict.
