[44:15] Where to find Nathan

[47:06] Outro

Who is Dr. Nathan Riley?

Nathan Riley, MD, is a board-certified OB-GYN and fellow of ACOG who left the medical industrial complex due to his disillusionment with the "standard of care" within the conventional maternity care model. This was hard because "going with the flow" of hospital-based practice was providing him with financial security. On the other hand, standing in his truth from having sat with over 1,000 births and connecting with women and their families has provided him a lifestyle more in alignment with fatherhood, deepening his connection with his wife and caring for people in the way that he had anticipated long before stepping into practice.

Dr. Riley now focuses his time on upholding the traditional practice of midwifery. He supports midwives as a collaborative physician for midwives of all varieties in over twenty states. He is an advocate for home births and still attends births for those in need. He boasts a c-section rate of <5%, which is one of the best in the U.S.

His mission is to uphold midwifery as the art that it is and to honor birth as a sacred process and the transition to parenthood as a spiritual transformation. Dr. Riley empowers women to have babies on their own terms, using nature as our guide. He helps fathers embrace the opportunity to connect with birth and their partners through pregnancy and birth, encouraging them to go deeper versus distancing themselves from this stigmatized but magical rite of passage.

Dr. Riley is the father of two, the second of whom was born at home, and he is proudly married to his high school sweetheart. In his spare time, he walks in the woods, makes Dad jokes, paints, and drinks coffee with amazing people.

[50:44] Outro

Who is William?

A former US Navy SEAL with 26 years of service, William Branum is the founder of NW Recovery.  At an early age, William knew he wanted to be part of a team that would push him beyond whatever limits he thought he had and still enjoy the outdoors and all it had to offer.  He charged forward and became an Eagle Scout and joined the Navy immediately after graduating High School. After graduating from SEAL Training (BUD/S Class 208), he was stationed in Virginia Beach, VA, then San Diego, CA, and finally Oahu, HI, where he served on multiple SEAL Teams, taught SEAL Sniper School, and deployed around the globe.

As with too many veterans, William suffered from numerous physical injuries and psychological symptoms that negatively impacted his well-being and quality of life.  Migraines, severe anxiety, chronic pains, difficulty focusing, difficulty sleeping/falling asleep, and depression are some of the symptoms he struggles with on a daily basis.  He tried many prescription medications to help and eventually started to "self-medicate" with alcohol to help with pain and sleep issues.

During his last few years of military service, William started hearing more about the promising benefits of cannabinoids like CBD.  Ultimately, he chose to wait until his retirement from the military before exploring this new world of plant-based benefits to help aid in his physical and psychological recovery.  Determined to maintain his Top Secret Security clearance after the military, he sought THC-free options of CBD.

Since his discovery of CBD, William has reduced anxiety, improved sleep, less joint pain, and an overall improved quality of life.  Today William is focused on sharing the recovery benefits he has experienced through premium quality (THC Free) CBD in hopes that other Veterans and First Responders can also experience their own recovery.
