Apologies for the (Sergio) Lull in episodes, and that awful joke that only really works when written and not said out loud. We may not have been recording lately but we have been paying attention.
With that in mind, we touch on all 12 teams here as a sort of season wrap-up with a focus on the last couple weeks. What has the story been for each team so far and how will their story conclude this season?
We also spend some extra time talking about the Chicago Sky and more specifically Angel Reese. The rebounding, the double doubles, the stat chasing, the message this sends to the team, the way the team has seemingly bought into it, the way the coach seems to be facilitating the birth of a team culture that values personal statistics over team success... Let's just say we get into it.
Stay tuned for two more episodes this week. E32 will contain some more rookie talk and begin to hypothesize about the upcoming expansion draft. Should be published on Wednesday. E33 will be our playoff preview episode on Friday or Saturday.
Been about a week so there's plenty to discuss in the W. Trying something a little different with the recaps and taking more of a team focused perspective rather than just going through the games chronologically. Would love to hear what you think.

The final thoughts/consequences have to do with getting international play to harmonize a little better with WNBA as well as detailing some players who probably felt a bit disrespected this past month or so and how that could manifest in their play moving forward. Men AND Women.
It's a daily grind right now, but the finals are upon us.
As a bitter Canadian, it is difficult for me to root for anyone in this finals match up, but I do acknowledge the historical significance of seeing Wembanyama vs. the faces of the NBA for the last decade or so.
Something tells me we will also see history being made in the bronze medal game.

As the title implies, this is an episode covering the women's Olympic basketball group stage with previews of the quarterfinals match ups. However, I did feel it was necessary to address some transphobia and hate that has been on display in the Olympics with the two boxers (Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan). I can't cover the WNBA without a discussion of issues like this and the W has certainly had its own cases of hate and transphobia that continue to this day, especially with Griner.
Then we get into the Olympic stuff. Similar to the men's episode, we start by saying good bye to the four teams eliminated and then move on to the quarter finals. The bulk of the episode is broken down team by team so please feel free to use the chapter function to find the information most relevant to you.
Oh, and of course, I had to sneak in another little rant about the legend of Diana Taurasi.
Wowowowow. I hope you've been tuning in. I am personally in paradise with all this high level basketball.
In this episode, we cover the group stage performance of all 12 teams in the tournament. We say goodbye to our four eliminated teams and take a look at the bracket to see how things might play out.
The top 4 teams coming into the tournament hold the top 4 seeds after the group stage and could easily meet for our two semi final match ups. As a basketball fan, it really can't get much better. Three cheers for Canada making it to the opposite side of the bracket from USA.
A similarly formatted episode focused on the Women's tournament will come out tomorrow :)
To start, we'll talk about All-Star weekend including Allisha Gray's dominance and Arike's revenge. Oh, and there's a brief discussion of baby Bash Griner as well as the WNBA knowing it's worth.
On the Olympic side, we start by outlining the rule changes as well as the format for the tournament. Most of this information is a repeat from the men's episode. Finally, we work through the groups and I give you my overall ranking for all 12 teams with a brief discussion of the handful of teams I think will be competing for Silver and Bronze behind the USA Gold.

Been about a week since the last episode so obviously we had a little recap to do. Ultimately, this results in some discussion of stat chasing and some of the incredible numbers we are seeing from these rookies. That means Caitlin Clark, of course, and certainly Angel Reese, but there's another rookie very quietly putting on a show in the scoring department.
Could we be watching the next Taurasi, Bird, and Fowles in terms of all-time scoring, passing, and rebounding? It's way too early to say but I'll say it anyway. Yes, we COULD.
Next we get in to the blockbuster trade of the season. I don't know if Mabrey will solve all of Connecticut's problems, but she makes them a better team and is capable of addressing most of their biggest weaknesses. On the Chicago side, this is a solid move for their future. Potential for smiles all around in this exchange.
Finally, we take a little time at the end to discuss Westbrook making his way to Denver and remind listeners of the incredible player he was during his prime. Westbrook the Clipper saved face. Can Westbrook the Nugget make people like him again? We shall see.

What's the difference between talk and chatter, you ask? One is available in box form and the other can go in circles. What does this mean? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm not even sure people read these descriptions and this is one way to find out. I mean... how could you read this and not say something about it? right? RIGHT!?
Anyway, this episode starts with some recap and previews just like any other. The bulk of our W talk surrounds the all-star selections and snubs. I remind everyone of how unhappy I am with this "selection process".
Then, at around the 1 hour mark, we get into our men's discussion with a focus on free agency transactions. Discussed to varying degrees are: OKC, DEN, LAC, NYK, DAL, PHX, NOP, CLE, ORL, PHI, GSW, CHI, BKN, SAS, and WSH.

This episode begins with recap and some injury discussion as some big names return like Natasha Howard and Chelsea Gray, but others take their place on the sidelines like Cameron Brink, Rhyne Howard, and Maddie Siegrist.
The main segment in this episode is about which teams I think can compete for a championship and what I see as their individual weaknesses. Those 6 teams, in order: New York Liberty, Las Vegas Aces, Minnesota Lynx, Connecticut Sun, Phoenix Mercury, and Seattle Storm.

Next we get into some segments. I do apologize. I had planned to cover three, but ended up postponing a discussion of contenders and their weaknesses. Stay tuned for that segment coming in E15.
For this episode, we discuss the olympic roster and its connection to the All-star game this season. Spoiler alert: I think it's kind of a dumb format. My opinion aside, it is certainly creating confusion and is likely to hurt some feelings down the line (unnecessarily, I might add).
After that, I get the Rookie Monster to help me update my rookie rankings. Edwards is up and Brink is down but my oh my this is a talented rookie class.
We end, as usual, with some men's chatter and an overdue remembrance of Jerry West.

Had a bout a week worth of games to recap, so that's mostly what goes on in this episode. As usual, we start in the W and wrap up by discussing game 2 and 3 of the NBA finals.
The big news is the return of Griner and Sykes. The Brittneys are back and already making an impact for their respective squads. Teams that had a Brittney return from injury this past week went 3-0!
There are some minor discussions of coaching tactics in this episode as well as a little T for T in Minnesota. Does the Mistress of the Midrange have a mistress of her own??

As usual, we start this episode by recapping the WNBA. Highlighted in the recaps are some physical moments, some interesting calls, and a discussion of hair buns and how to best keep hair out of your face. Who does it best? I think there is a clear #1.
Then we try out a short new segment called "Struggle Bug" where we identify 3 players in the W who are really struggling right now.
Final-ly we wrap it up with some NBA Finals discussion.
So we've done ten episodes now and I thought it was time to reflect on those episodes and try some new things out. More and more I am going to try and get away from just recapping games, especially statistically, and I will be shifting my focus to more of an overview on themes and such. I will experiment with some segments over the next few weeks and this is a great opportunity for feedback. Let me know what you like and don't.
This episode has a long discussion of this "Clark Drama", so to speak. We touch on the perceived resentment towards her, the officiating, the physicality, the rookie hazing, Angel Reese's role in all of this, of course the role of her team mate Chennedy Carter, as well as other plays around the league. Exercising as much understanding as we can muster and doing our best to avoid blanket statements about hatred.
We also preview some of the games coming up in the WNBA. This is a huge week for the Seattle Storm, in particular.
Finally, we end with a preview of the NBA Finals and two (silly) diss tracks between the teams. Trying out new things and having fun with it. Please don't take any of that too seriously, haha.

In this episode we recap the last few days in the W/NBA. Sparks pick up their first win, Fever continue to improve but can't get over the hump, and the Lynx continue to impress. Kahleah Copper is on one right now and it is MUST SEE tv. Find out why I am optimistic about Indiana picking up a win tonight with our second official Peach Basket Pick (IND -1.5) and dive a little deeper into their struggles to start the season. In some ways I truly believe that Clark's individual struggle is the BEST possible result for growing league fandom. We revisit a bit of a conspiracy theory that is gaining traction with every game played.

In this episode we recap all the games in the WNBA from Friday the 17th til Monday the 21st, with some added focus on the Fever and their growing pains.
