She moved out to Denver, Colorado almost 11 years ago when she was looking for a job after she completed her MBA. From an early age, Tara assumed she was going to have issues having children. 063. Tara is half English and half American who now lives in New York City. She’s lived in ten countries and recorded the show while visiting family in the Bahamas. Thinking about having children happened decades ago for Tara. In her 30’s Tara calls herself a typical city woman who focused on her career, dated a lot, but no one serious. She ended a five-year relationship at 30, and the question of children was ever present for her. 059. Tanika was born and raised in Fresno, California. She currently lives in Manhattan, New York and is a project manager by trade. She had her first daughter at 23 and is a single mother by choice. 058. Ch-a was born and raised in California, but currently lives in Clearwater, Florida with her four-month old daughter, partner and her mother. From eight years old all the way into her 20’s she was a competitive athlete. She ran track in college and has always been an athlete. She still feels like she benefits from the hard work she’s put her body. She conceived at 45 naturally, but she miscarried. A year later, at 46 trying to have a baby was the last thing on her mind. She had been in California because her father was in a very bad car accident. She put him to rest, and then packed up her mother to live with her. Weeks later Ch-a was exhausted and knew something wasn’t right. Join us while she describes her amazing pregnancy at 47 while also struggled if this pregnancy was going to stick around. She wanted an unmedicated birth with an option for a water birth with midwives. Find out how Ch-a’s plans didn’t work out as she had hoped..

057. This is a special episode because it’s not just a pregnancy story. This is an overview of  Barb’s “a 1,000 tiny steps” to her pregnancy. Barb was a scholarship runner at BU in the eighties and ran for Nike for several years. Barb never planned to have children. She had a pretty rough childhood, so, she wanted to end the cycle of abuse in her family. She didn’t need to be a mother, she was happy being the cool auntie. Instead, she became pregnant but lost her son, Gordy at 25-weeks. It wasn’t until afterwards that she knew she wanted to become a mother. She has been a competitive runner, teacher, coach, mom, and now she’s a CrossFit athlete. She is also a survivor of some pretty tragic things: losing two children in very different circumstances and brain cancer during her journey to her fourth child. Barb has four children, two live in heaven, and two are here with her. Join us on this special episode as she shares her IVF journey to the birth of her son at 57.

056. Nisha, from London who is three-months postpartum is sharing her IVF journey at 43. In her 30’s she didn’t know if she wanted to have children. She asked herself in her late 30’s if she would regret not having children, and she firmly said, “yes, I would regret it.” She tried naturally to have children for a year after she got married at 41. It just didn’t happen. It took her awhile to decide if she wanted to put her body through the IVF process. With only a 2% chance of having twins, she refused to believe the two heartbeats on the ultrasound at her six-week appointment. Join us how she embraced two babies, shares her struggles and navigated a planned c-section turn vaginal birth.

055. Maria grew up in Germany but is a Spaniard that now lives in Austin, Texas. She’s always been fit and has lived an active lifestyle. For most of her life, she never thought she wanted to be a mother. At 39, something clicked that changed her mind. She shares her challenging journey to pregnancy with several failed IUI’s. Despite only having morning sickness for one day, she too had her challenges through pregnancy. 054. This is our one-year anniversary show! I am talking about believing pregnancy is possible over 40, so we can have a better TTC experience. We are looking at how I believe, the process I go through, and a list of thoughts that have helped me. If you are pregnant, this works for believing anything. This episode has nothing to do with religion or God or faith or whatever upper power you believe. My goal is not to tell you that if you believe hard enough, you will get pregnant.  Our experience getting pregnant and later pregnancy only lives in our brain.
