Alex has recently founded V-Metics which is at the forefront of the future of makeup design and she is truly one of the most exciting and fascinating women I have ever met. I'm also listing a few of my top high street makeup buys of the moment. They all cost £11 or under and I rate them just as highly as their designer counterparts. | Leading Beauty Expert and Author: Why We All Need To Be Aware of Toxic Beauty Culture - Ellen Atlanta | 08 Jun 2024 | 00:47:47
In this episode my guest is a woman who has a deep understanding of how the beauty industry works and feeds into modern culture. Ellen Atlanta is a writer and brand consultant specialising in Gen-Z and Millennial culture and has worked with beauty giants including Estee Lauder, Boots, FeelUnique, Milk Makeup, Flannels Beauty and The Unseen Beauty. Her latest project has seen her become the author of one of the most important books that I've read in a long time. Pixel Flesh is an honest, scary and at times shocking observation of the toxic side of beauty and the online world: "We are living in a new age of beauty. With advancements in cosmetic surgery, augmented reality face filters, photo editing apps, and exposure to more images than ever, we have the ability to craft a version of ourselves that we want everyone to see. We pinch, pull, squeeze, tweeze, smooth and slice ourselves beyond recognition. But is our beauty culture truly empowering? Are we really in control? In Pixel Flesh, Ellen Atlanta holds a mirror up to our modern beauty ideal and the harm it is doing to women all around the world. Weaving in her own personal story with those of other women, she reconfigures our obsession with the cult of beauty and explores the realities of living in a digitally obsessed world where the pressure to present yourself both virtually and in person is all-consuming." During the episode we explore many of the themes in Ellen's book and have a really honest chat about the challenges that so many of us face when it comes to how we perceive and present ourselves to the world. We also look at the empowering and positive side of beauty and how when used in the right way it can build communities and make us feel increible. I hope you enjoy this thought provoking episode and that it sparks a debate about the highs and lows of being a woman in 2024.

| The Outspoken Review - The Red Lipstick Episode | 21 Jan 2025 | 00:12:07 | |
Red lipsticks mean so many things to me....confidence, power, symbols of resistance (the suffragettes), putting my best foot forward, glamour and yet they also require constant upkeep, can end up the chin or even nose and often rub off leaving behind a line of red around the lips. This week I discovered a wonderful new red whilst on a trip to Boots (I'll tell you all about it during the episode) and it inspired me to go through my favourite reds of the moment and all time. Here are the brands that I mention during the episode: @lisaeldridgemakeup @emolynecosmetics @nyxcosmetics_uk @violette_fr @trinnylondon @maccosmeticsuki @maybelline @avon_uk I'll also tell you about a brand new release from Dr Sam Bunting and why if it does what it says it will, it will be a bit of a gamechanger.

| Getting To Grips With Our Hormones With Made of More | 18 May 2024 | 01:06:35 | |
This episode is in partnership with Made of More I'm so excited to publish this episode which is definitely going to make you feel better about things if you, like me, are in a world of hormonal uncertainty. I met Jackie, the founder of the wonderful skincare brand Made of More, at an event a couple of months ago and I instantly adored her. Within moments we were talking openly about our kids, husbands, the challenges of our lives and perhaps most importantly, our hormonal journeys. Hearing Jackie's story I totally got why she launched Made of More and hearing about what she has put into the brand and the quality of her products made me certain that I needed to do this podcast. Jackie wanted this episode to be a combination of advice and education (cue a BRILLIANT opening segment with hormone specialist extraordinaire Dr Sohere Roked and an insight into hormonal skin with Dr Dhesi) and also a chance for you to hear her story and reason for lauching a brand that really does stand apart from all the menopause noise and in some cases BS on the market. If you'd like to explore Made of More then here's a link for you. I think that their Rescue Balm is a sensational product that truly saves skin that is in a bad wayand their Brightening Day Shield is a thing of wonder. I'll also go into navigating constant feelings of dread and terror which can actually feel worse than the panic itself. Please remember that I am not an expert and I am chatting about my own experience and sharing what i have learnt. If you need help then don't be ashamed to ask for it. See your GP or contact a mental health charity like Mind I have created a Private Facebook Page to go with this series. | Mental Health Awareness Week Special: An Incredibly Honest Conversation With Cat Sims | 14 May 2024 | 01:06:31
It's Mental Health Awareness Week and my guest is the absolutely amazing human being Cat Sims aka @notsosmugnow. I met Cat at an event for The Eve Appeal and the minute we got chatting I knew that number one that she was my kind of woman and number two, I had to get her on the podcast. This is such an honest and in places raw conversation about everything from gynae health to ADHD to masturbation to parenting to alcoholism. Cat really does leave no stone unturned and her energy and honesty absolutely took my breath away. Preceding my interview with Cat and also as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, I have a short insight into a wonderful brand called Feather and Down. In this paid for section of the podcast I chat to the lovely Clare Robertson who works for a brand that not only produces affordable and truly beautiful products to help with your nightly sleep routine but that truly wants to help people get good sleep. As you'll hear in the episode, Feather and Down would love you to join their sleep tribe. By signing up HERE you'll get 25% off site wide plus a free miniature pillow spray with your purchase. | Daisy Robinson - On Leaving The Safety of The Corporate Beauty World and Following Your Dreams | 11 May 2024 | 00:33:22
In this episode I chat tothe wonderful reflexologist Daisy Robinson. Up until very recently Daisy was in the world of beauty PR but deep down she knew that she had a passion for reflexology. She trained extensively in her spare time but it was only fairly recently that she had the confidence to bite the bullet and leave a secure job to start her own business. Daisy talks about following your instinct, taking risks and following your passion and I hope that she will inspire you and help you to realise that if you have always wanted to do something it absolutely IS possible. You can find Daisy on Insta @flow_with_daisy_reflexology and having experienced her skills myself, I can't recommend her highly enough!
