Deborah Davis, is a former professional tennis player and business from Antigua, who took up the game of golf, later on in her life.

Despite the late start, Deborah knew golf is what she wanted to do at the highest level, so she closed down her business in Antigua and moved to the United States, where she would eventually play on the PGA Futures Tour.

In this episode, Deborah shares how she got started in the game, talks about her, custom leather making business "Glover and Wyre" and more.

I Still Don't Know What Triggered Me - Khary Mitchell - EP 22

Khary Mitchell, one of the admins of the Black Golfers Association, Facebook group, joins me on this episode, to share his golf journey as part of the,"50 Black Golf Stories" series.

Khary describes his introduction to golf, saying that as a kid, while watched Calvin Pete on TV with their father and uncles. Khary was asked if he wanted to join his father and uncles for a round, but his initial reaction was that he didn't like the way the players were "beating up the earth".

However, He eventually took up the game and has since become a "golf diehard", coaching others and building a community for black golfers.

During this interview with Charlie Sifford Jr., I tried to get some insight, into what it was like to be the son of a person like Dr. Sifford, whose sacrifice and determination, has made a lasting impact in the world of golf.

I wanted to get a glimpse of what it was like for Charlie Sifford Jr. and his siblings, to witness the sacrifices, struggles and eventually the joy, their father experienced during his journey, of becoming the first black PGA card member.

Charlie Sifford 2022 Centennial Celebration - Russ Crockett EP 6

Charlie Sifford was the first black to play on the PGA tour in 1961. I had the pleasure of speaking with Russ Crockett, a close friend of Mr. Sifford for 20 years and part of the group putting on the "2022 Charlie Sifford Centennial Celebration".

Russ breaks down all of the details about the celebration and he shares some fantastic personal stories, about his time with Mr. Sifford.

Winner of six Negro National Open titles.
Honored as one of the top 100 people in the first Century of Golf.
In 1961, joined Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA) as first black card-holding member.
Remained among top 60 money winners on PGA Tour through the 1960’s.
Won more than $1.2 million on PGA Tour and Senior Tour.
First black golfer to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, Class of 2004.
Awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of St. Andrews in 2006.
Awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2014.
Tiger Woods named his son “Charlie” after Charlie Sifford.
