Discover practical strategies to navigate the shopping frenzy, avoid unnecessary purchases, and still revel in the joy of finding meaningful gifts for your loved ones. Learn about thoughtful gifting and mindful consumption, ensuring a fulfilling holiday season without the clutter. There seems to be little literature and research about "mindful consumption" and I wish I could bring you more information about it. For now, we will keep it basic and describe it as a practice of "being deliberate and thoughtful in our buying habits, understanding the impact of our purchases on both ourselves and the world." | 74 | Getting Organized Is A Form Of Self-Care...Do You Agree or Disagree? | 15 Apr 2023 | 00:29:32
Today's special guest is Professional Organizer Holly Perez, owner of H.A.P. Organizing Solutions. Join us as we talk about how getting organized is a form of self-care. Holly also shares actionable tips and her own journey with getting organized. The term "self-care" has been a marketing buzzword lately, and it evokes mixed feelings for many, including myself. An article I found on Yahoo states that the term "self-care" has "become so big and amorphous that it can be difficult to suss out what it really is at its core and why it matters." While we didn't take the time to dig into the history of self-care and how it became so popular, we considered getting organized as a way for us to take better care of ourselves. If you're like me, I feel at peace when I know that my environment is in order. I feel like I can breathe easier when I know I can find things quickly and easily. But if these feelings continue to elude you as they did me for many years, know that there is always hope and help. And the bonus? You get to take care of your overall well-being by getting organized. Are you ready to go from chaos to calm? Pop on those earbuds, friend, and join the conversation.
About Holly Perez: Holly is the owner of H.A.P. Organizing Solutions. H.A.P. stands for multiple things: Happy and Productive, Home and Paper, Harmonious and Peaceful, and my initials, Holly A. Perez. As a full-time work-from-home mom, I know the feeling of overwhelm while dealing with the everyday paper that piles up everywhere in the home office, kitchen, car, closet, and more. I offer group workshops and one-on-one sessions to help solve the problem for good. My goal is to assist you in being happy and productive, while reducing the stress and overwhelm so that you can focus on what matters most. | 73 | This Book Could Solve Our Paper Problems | 29 Mar 2023 | 00:19:24
Avalanche. Tsunami. Mountains. Oceans. Would these words accurately describe the amount of paper that we process throughout our lifetime? Let me share a statistic used by the book I am about to introduce to you: "The average American household processes a paper stack as high as a two-story house every year." Imagine that! So maybe it's not outlandish to describe our paper as an avalanche, tsunami, etc. Even with massive technological advances and a push for a paperless (or at least less paper) society, paper is here to stay, and it only continues to overwhelm us and our homes. What's the solution? I am glad you asked. Listen in as I talk with you more about paper organization and THE book that could solve our paper problems, written by Lisa Woodruff called Paper Solution: What To Shred, What To Save, and How To Stop It from Taking Over Your Life. Also, check out Episode 68 where I talked with my friend Emily Lowry about how to get your paper organized. She is certified to teach Lisa's Sunday Basket system (mentioned in the book).

| 72 | ONE Question You Need To Ask Yourself When Distractions Try To Derail Your Decluttering Project | 26 Feb 2023 | 00:18:19 | |
Do you find yourself distracted even after you've scheduled a time to declutter a particular area in your home? Something that you deem more important comes up. You receive a phone call or text message that "needs" your attention. Someone needs something from you. Mind you, this happens within the short 15 minutes that you try to declutter, even just a bedside table. My friend, you are definitely not alone on this. No one is immune to distractions (not even a professional organizer), especially in this day and age where everything and everyone are vying for our attention. Take a listen to this episode as we explore an important question we need to ask ourselves when distractions come DURING our decluttering time.

| 86 | Moving and Downsizing Do's and Don'ts: Secrets to a Stress-Free Fresh Start | 03 Jul 2024 | 00:39:03 | |
Let's face it: moving is stressful and challenging on many fronts - emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially. Yet, each year, tens of millions of people in the US relocate from their place of birth or current residence to another location within the same city, county, state, country, or abroad for many reasons. (Read more at: https://www.mymovingreviews.com/move/how-often-and-why-americans-move/) During these moves, we tend to accumulate belongings along the way, and the next thing we know, we have more stuff than we know what to do with. In this episode, I chatted with Deanna Yates about this very topic and how minimalism has played a significant role in her life of relocating 16 times in the past 20 years. She provided listeners with practical decluttering and downsizing advice for those who are ready to let go and who crave more space in their homes and lives. I hope you enjoy and are helped by this conversation with Deanna. Deanna Yates is the busy mama behind the top-ranking podcast, Wannabe Clutter Free, where she helps other busy families learn how to let go of the stuff holding them back so they can enjoy more time together, stop spending their weekends cleaning house, and wake up excited for the day ahead. Deanna is mom to one daughter, wife to a startup entrepreneur, and is living her dream life in San Diego, CA. When she's not helping clients realize their dreams, you can find her on her Peloton, searching for the tastiest breakfast burrito, or balancing her love of a good Target run with living clutter-free in her own home.

| 53 // Realistic Minimalism For Working Moms with Littles- It Is More Sustainable Than You Think | 12 Apr 2022 | 00:22:59 | |
Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist defines minimalism as “the intentional promotion of the things that bring you joy and the removal of those that do not.” Years ago, I pictured minimalism as a nearly empty room with just a table, chair, and may one frame hanging on the wall. Boring! It was a foreign concept to me and didn't really care for it. It could be that I had certain fears that if I adopted it, I would have to get rid of my most precious possessions. Hints of guilty feelings about having too much stuff, I suspect, also kept me away from the true essence of minimalism. Today, I am rethinking these beliefs and am excited that it's probably going to be one of the best things to happen to me (or for me to make happen, that is) and I may already be on the path. Hmmmm... Join me and my new friend, Desireé Robinson, as we chat about what she refers to as "realistic minimalism". Desireé is a wife, mom of two littles, a homesteader, and passionate about helping moms live an intentional, mindful, and meaningful lifestyle. She currently hosts a podcast called "Unprocessed Momma Intentional Lifestyle" where moms can find support with realistic minimalism and eliminating toxins. | 52 // Lessons From Getting Rear-Ended By a Drunk Driver And Getting Rejected | 31 Mar 2022 | 00:20:41
Hi Friends! Have you ever had these great plans and life seems to go just right, then BAM! Something happens that stops you in your tracks and even derails you. Be of good courage, you are not alone. I have been quiet on the pod lately and you will hear why. March has been a tough month, as many of you may have also experienced but know that you are often top of mind in this podcast and that your life experiences matter, organized or not. Hugs, Grace
P.S. I spoke about "trauma" in this episode and while what I went through may not appear on the level that the general population considers so, let us be careful not to compare one another's experiences but instead embrace and accept each other as we all go through hardships, little and big traumas, and difficulties in life. Love you lots!

| 50 // Celebrating 50 Episodes With Real-Life Working Mom and Top Listener, Danielle Esbit-Ayala | 01 Mar 2022 | 00:34:55 | |
In these challenging times in our world, it seems more difficult to celebrate, even our smallest wins. I sometimes get into "self-guilt" mode and think, "How can I celebrate when people are suffering?" I quickly realized that this helps no one, especially myself. Instead, I have been shifting my thoughts and words into, "I care and will do my part about what is happening currently AND express cheer and gratefulness for life, accomplishments, and personal wins (large and small)." My podcasting journey has not been an easy road with a couple of starts and stops but I am thankful to still be here, continuing on for you. There is no better way to highlight this milestone than having a conversation with Danielle Esbit-Ayala, my friend, co-worker, and top listener of Organize with Grace. (Thank you, Danielle, so grateful for you!) This was such a fun episode where Danielle talked with me about how the podcast has impacted her organizing journey. She also shares her 3 favorite episodes and why she chose them. THANK YOU to all of you lovely listeners. It is because of you that this podcast exists!
