It seems like two of them want to stay virgins and two really, really, really don’t. We talk about what it means to be a virgin later in life, how hard it can be to feel attractive when you don’t fit the mold, and the surprising revelation that one married couple stayed virgins a whole year after the wedding. Jobina and Luther dig into the show and ask some real questions about how much should we know about a lover’s past, sex tapes, and who should make the first move — approach or be approached?

Jobina brings up her parents (so take a drink, everybody), and as always, the episode includes a few wild, hilarious detours.

Luther and Jobina dive into Pop the Balloon on Netflix — and the original YouTube version that inspired it.

Spoiler: they like one more than the other.

This week, Jobina and Luther dive into The Four Seasons on Netflix — and it’s giving sketch comedy meets marriage therapy.

The show is categorized as a dramedy, and underneath the attempted laughs are some real questions about love, long-term relationships, and whether couples can actually grow old together.

Naturally, Jobina and Luther take on the big stuff — and a few deliciously unnecessary tangents. An Alan Alda cameo sends them down a retro rabbit hole, where they learn the series is a remake of a 1981 film starring Alda and Carol Burnett.

The show features an all-star cast including Tina Fey (Liz Lemon), Colman Domingo, and Michael Scott, I mean Steve Carell.

This week, Luther and Jobina take on Season 3, Episode 1 of Love on the Spectrum.

Jobina’s a longtime fan. Luther’s a first-timer. And both are rooting hard for the cast to find real, meaningful love — even if it’s just as elusive for them as it is for the rest of us.

Of course, it wouldn’t be One Episode Stand without detours. This episode veers into speed dating flashbacks, parenting philosophies, unapologetic honesty, long-distance love, deal breakers, secondhand awkwardness, and if "making out" is getting to second base or third base.

Also, Luther might be lowkey disappointed by the show’s lack of drama - it's reality TV, after all.

We usually start with Season 1, Episode 1 (S1E1), but this time we’re jumping into the deep end.

In this episode of One Episode Stand, Luther and Jobina dive into Season 2, Episode 1 (S2E1) of Severance on Apple TV — and yes, it’s just as weird, brilliant, and unsettling as you’d expect.

They unpack the show’s big questions: What happens when your work self and your home self don’t know each other? Is this the future of tech… or a warning? And what does it even mean to “exist”?

As always, there are tangents, laughs, and a few existential spirals along the way.

Luther and Jobina break the rules for this one. Instead of sticking to just the first episode, they watched the entire Hulu series Dying for Sex — and it was a ride. This episode goes deeper, as they reflect on what the series meant to them personally and what it’s really trying to say about intimacy, mortality, friendship, and sex.

Also, a heartfelt shoutout to Paula Pell, who delivers one of the greatest scenes either of them has ever seen on screen — TV or film.

This limited series is tense enough to cut with a knife, but Jobina and Luther still manage to crack a few smiles while breaking it down. From awkward teen years to real-life drama, this one hits close to home. First lesson? Be very careful who you ask how they're doing. Second? Maybe stop with the no-knock warrants. Third? Yeah… adolescence was a rollercoaster for both of your cohosts.

Along the way, they veer into conversations about the surveillance state, how (and if) you talk to your parents about your teen years, and whether British accents or a uniform can still get it in 2025.

It’s deep, it’s messy, and it’s fun — just like being a teenager.

Uzo Aduba leads a strong cast in this Shonda Rhimes (no relation to Busta) vehicle. Luther insists Susan Kelechi Watson does all the heavy lifting (pun fully intended), while Jobina finds herself swooning over Giancarlo Esposito. Randall Park, Isiah Whitlock Jr. from "Cocaine Bear" fame, Allie from "Kate and Allie," and non-victim Al Franken are other fan favorites who show up. There's some good and bad happening in this show, and Jobina and Luther take every opportunity to discuss the relevant tangents, including mansplaining and shelaboration. Put on your slips and enjoy the episode!

We’re back! Thanks for hanging in there with us. This week we get into Paradise on Hulu, starring the always smooth Sterling K. Brown — but let’s be honest, the real story is about a sleep-deprived DEI hire just trying to be a decent single dad. Jobina admits she’s basically been running on fumes for the past decade, and Luther, well, just can't relate. Along the way, we wander into the lore of single fathers in Disney movies, why soap operas might secretly be the blueprint, and of course, the undeniable fact that women love tall men. It’s classic us — some wild detours, more than a few laughs, and occasionally something interesting is said.

Arnold (Netflix) is a docu-series about the body builder, polician and movie star, and one of the things we learn is that he has no time for emotions. Somehow, we also learn that Jobina and her sister were big fans of LL Cool J. We also take tangents to talk about body issues, winning the lottery, and Biggie's "Mo Money, Mo Problems." Because there were no prominent women in the documentary, Luther is given the choice to Marry, Kill, or One Night Stand Mr. Schwarzenegger. And Jobina gives an unexpected moral of the episode that all men should take heed.

Man listen.... Anybody walking around calling themselves "Jim Bob" is suspicious. AND his wife had 19 kids! The cops should have stormed that house like they did the Branch Davidians!

Our episode might not be suitable for kids because we briefly discuss sexual abuse, but we don't get graphic and we move on pretty quickly. There are plenty other things to discuss with this hilariously sad show, "Shiny Happy People" on Amazon Prime.

Queen Charlotte (Netflix) wore her afro loudly and proudly, so that little girls everywhere can be proud of their natural hair as well. And Jobina can never say that she wasn't given anything! This show was for her, and she was more than happy to discuss it. And of course we took our usual-unusual tangents, discussing everything from colorism, arranged marriage, and the royal family to how good of a gift giver Jobina is... if you are under 10 years old and were once in her belly.

We just couldn't leave Beef alone. We reveiwed the first/pilot episode in our normal format, but we wanted to come back and discuss the whole series because it touched on so many interesting thoughts and ideas.

One of the things we discuss is the intentionality of every detail of the show, including the episode titles. Each title is a snippet from a quote by a historical figure, often a philosopher. Google each episode title to find the full quote, and spend a little time with it to gain a new perspective on the contents of the episode.

This is a really good show. No, wait. Yes, our show is also good, but I'm talking about Beef on Netflix. Check out our commentary on the first episode, which includes two hilarious interactions we've had with contractors. Also, please seek mental health counseling if you are considering peeing on someone's bathroom floor, unless they've specifically asked for such a service.

Seeking Brother Husband (TLC) is about throuples (couples but with three people) with one woman and two men, often looking to add another man to the relationship. This is reality TV at its finest, and we have plenty to say about it.

What we love about this episode: we talk about how parents often struggle to accept the lifestyle choices of their children, even though they themselves broke the mold when they were young. And Jobina shares an interesting story from her mother's youth as a civil rights activist.

This Netflix show tried to show the good and bad of the ATF, and the good and bad of a cult led by a 33 year old man who married 12 year olds. This is a really sad tale of what happened in Waco in 1993, but of course in our discussion of this episode we take a few hilarious tangents. We talk about the age of consent, shooting a rifle (and the 2nd amendment), and that one Netflix show where small children are sent across town to complete a task.

Kindred, on Hulu, is about a young Black woman who is violently pulled back and forth in time. Correction, pulled back and forth into and out of slavery. This show is adapted from an Octavia Butler novel by the same name. We didn't know at the time of the recording, but Octavia Butler passed away in 2006. That being said, this show provided many fun things for us to talk about. From watching Soap Operas to OnlyFarmers dot com and how much you really trust yourself to give someone the Heimlich maneuver, we really go ham on this episode and we think you'll enjoy it.

I’m not gonna hold you… but this show was awful. It was probably the worst show we’ve discussed on our podcast. But, that didn’t stop use from having a good time discussing it, and taking our usual barrage of tangents. We discussed the origin of television laugh tracks, “The Bill Cosby Show” (not “The Cosby Show”), the makers of Uno trying to tell Black people they can’t do stacks, judging people by who they date, getting older, and how tired we are of the reboots. Just make new shows, please. These reboots ain’t it. And laugh tracks definitely ain’t it. Lastly, of course it comes up again that Jobina is significantly older than Luther.

Many people are discussing The Bear (Hulu) as one of the best shows out right now. Some of you may remember Lip from the show Shameless. Well, he's back at it again, but this time he's in the kitchen. Listen as we discuss the first episode of this series, but won't spoil it for you. And, of course we take a few tangents, sometimes comical and sometimes serious. We discuss vintage jeans worth $1200, Jobina's son who likes to wear pants 365 days a year, getting fired from McDonald's, making eggs as a hospital candy striper, and what kinds of restaurants we would open.
