📖 People Over Possessions: Lot's Wife Teaches Us About What Really Matters29 Apr 202600:15:56

What would you grab if you had sixty seconds to leave your home forever?

It's a question most of us have never had to answer. We did during the California Wildfires. And Lot's wife did too. And her answer — told not in words but in one devastating backward glance — cost her everything.

Lot's wife had a home. A life. Possessions. A community she had built in Sodom. And when God said go — she couldn't resist one last look at everything she was leaving behind.

And in that one moment of looking back, she was gone.

Now before we shake our heads at Lot's wife — Rhonda wants us to look in the mirror first.

Because if we're honest?

We do it too.

We look back at the comfort we've lost. The life we planned. Things we thought we deserved. Stuff we accumulated can quietly become more important than our obedience to God.

And Rhonda's phrase for this episode will stay with you long after it's over —

"People over possessions."

IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL DISCOVER:

  • The sobering story of Lot's wife and the one backward glance that changed everything
  • Why God's command to not look back was about so much more than direction — it was about the condition of her heart
  • The powerful phrase Rhonda returns to again and again: "People over possessions"
  • How our attachment to comfort, stuff, and security quietly competes with our obedience to God
  • The liberating truth that when we choose people over possessions — we gain something no stuff could ever give us

KEY SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

  • Genesis 19 — The story of Lot's wife
  • Luke 17:32 — "Remember Lot's wife"
  • Matthew 6:19-21 — "Store up treasures in heaven"
  • Luke 12:15 — "Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions"

RHONDA'S KEY PHRASE FOR THIS EPISODE: "People over possessions."

Write it on a sticky note. Let it be the filter through which you make decisions this week and always.

Pull Up a Chair: The Conversation Every Mom Needs to Hear — Rhonda Stoppe & Deb Weakly Get Real_A Podcast Takeover You Don't Want to Miss16 Apr 202600:33:37

EPISODE DESCRIPTION:

Pull Up a Chair: The Conversation Every Mom Needs to Hear —Rhonda Stoppe &

Deb Weakly Get Real_A Podcast Takeover You Don't Want to Miss

What happens when two women who have spent decades pouring into moms, marriages, and families sit down together and just talk?

You get this episode.

Rhonda Stoppe of Old Ladies Know Stuff and Deb Weakly of Help Club for Moms are taking over each other's podcasts — and the wisdom they serve up in this conversation is the kind you only get from women who have lived it, prayed through it, failed at it, repented of it, and come out the other side still standing — and still deeply in love with Jesus.

In this warm, honest, laugh-out-loud and occasionally tear-jerking conversation, Rhonda and Deb tackle the real stuff — the things moms and wives are thinking about at 2am when they can't sleep:

You'll hear Deb share the single piece of parenting advice that stopped her cold — one look at her daughter's tiny hands that changed everything about how she showed up as a mom.

And you'll both laugh and nod along as these two women remind you that the gray hairs are earned, the lessons are hard-won, and the best is absolutely still ahead.

Because here's what Rhonda and Deb both know to be true:

God chose you — in this moment in history — to raise this generation. And He will not leave you to figure it out alone.

This episode covers the best marriage advice nobody tells you, the danger of making your children your best friend, what Eve's "just a little bit more" moment has to do with your scrolling habits, why stepmoms matter more than they know, the power of Scripture memory at 2am when anxiety won't let you sleep, and why linking arms with other women isn't optional — it's obedience.

Come for the wisdom. Stay for the friendship. Share it with every mom and wife you know.

Because old ladies really do know stuff — and they want to share it with you.

Faithful Moms with No Name: Your Legacy Matters More than Recognition20 Nov 202500:20:54

In this powerful finale to our "Moms of the Bible" series, author Rhonda Stoppe tackles one of motherhood's greatest paradoxes: pouring your heart into raising children who will one day live without you—often without others ever knowing your name.

Drawing from the unnamed mothers in Scripture, including David's mom and the mothers of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Rhonda reveals how the most influential cultural changers often come from quiet, faithful homes where moms prioritized biblical truth over public recognition.

Discover why helicopter parenting might be robbing your children of the very courage they need to face their giants, and learn how to raise kids who can fail and recover under your watchful eye before they face the world alone. Rhonda challenges moms to reject apathy, embrace urgency, and understand that your ministry isn't about earning applause—it's about equipping the next generation to stand strong when everyone else bows to cultural pressure.

Whether you're a fearless mom, a flawed mom, or a faithful mom still finding your way, this episode will ignite fresh passion for your God-ordained calling in this generation. Your name may never make headlines, but your influence will echo through eternity.

How Divorce Effects Children & What You Can Do to Help

Welcome to "Old Ladies Know Stuff," where wisdom meets real-life challenges. I’m your host, Rhonda Stoppe, and today we’re diving into a topic that’s close to many hearts: how divorce affects children and what you can do to help. There’s a common belief that kids will be happier if parents are happy—even if that means splitting up—but decades of research, and years of personal experience as a pastor’s wife and youth minister, show us the real impact divorce can have on young lives.

In this episode, we’ll unpack both the short-term and long-term effects of divorce on children, exploring feelings of insecurity, rejection, resentment, and even financial stress. We’ll talk about practical steps parents can take to support their kids, ways mentors and community can make a difference, and the spiritual implications that often go overlooked. Whether you’re already divorced, considering it, or searching for hope and healing for your family, this is a safe space to find encouragement, resources, and honest conversation—no shame, no judgment. Just heartfelt advice from someone who’s walked alongside countless families on this journey.

Let’s come together to learn, support one another, and discover how, even amid brokenness, there’s hope for joy, restoration, and a brighter future for our children.

Quote:

There is so much opportunity for hope to move forward. I mean, my kids, they I don't think they remember those early days at all when I was so triggered. You know, they don't remember who that mom even is. And I know that for some of us, our kids are older, but but first we have to allow God to forgive us. He is so gracious. He says in Psalm one zero three, he talks about how he remembers that we are but dust.

And he looks he looks at us with compassion as a loving father, that our sins are as far as the east is from the west, he says. And so receiving that grace from the Lord and then being so full of that that it overflows for ourselves. The enemy's gonna want you to replay all of that. And that's when we just have to take those thoughts captive and say, nope. I'm clean. I'm forgiven. And all I can do now is the next right thing with my kids. I can make progress with them.

I can bring healing, and I can pray through that and trust the Lord. But don't give up on it. It's never too late. There's never too much damage. There's nothing beyond God's healing hand. So do not despair.Find Untriggered Book and all of

Young Women_What I Wish I Knew Then_a message with Rhonda Stoppe.

Due to laryngitis I had to cancel my interview scheduled to air today. But I think this timely message will be a great substitute as I share from my heart all the insights to help young women step into adulthood with their eyes fixed on Jesus.

Quote: "May His Word stir in your heart a passion to become all that He has planned for you to be from before the foundations of this world!"

Rhonda taught this message at an intimate outdoor young women's tea party for her home church's young adult ladies.

Note: You'll hear a rooster crowing in the distance (repeatedly). But I feel like the rooster's crow only adds to the quaintness and intimacy of this event.

You'll never amount to anything." Yea. That one. Even when we grow up and know the Truth, it takes concerted effort to retrain your brain away from stinkin' thinkin' about who you are, and what is your worth."

Love Like You Mean it! with Marriage Expert Bob Lepine 04 Feb 202500:39:12

Every year, millions of men and women stand before friends and family to pledge their lifelong love to each other. Do they know what they’re getting into?

Unfortunately, many people have a shallow, superficial idea of what marriage is. As a result, many marriages don’t last, and many more married couples are trudging along looking for something more.

Bob Lepine spent 30+ years as the co-host for the popular radio program: Family Life Today. He has interviewed countless marriage experts. As a pastor, author and speaker Bob is ready to share with you.

Bob says, "If you don't tend to your marriage it will drift." In this episode learn practical ways husbands and wives can resist the drift that is a natural part of married life. Learn to love like you mean it for a loving marriage that lasts a lifetime.

Bio:

Radio and podcast listeners know Bob Lepine as the co-host of FamilyLife Today®, FamilyLife’s nationally syndicated radio program. He is the author of LOVE LIKE YOU MEAN IT - The Heart of a Marriage That Honors God  and “The Christian Husband” (1999). Bob is also the on air announcer for “Truth for Life” with Alistair Begg.

Bob also serves on the Board of Directors for National Religious Broadcasters. Since 2008 Bob has served as an elder and teaching pastor at Redeemer Community Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Today he is the host of Mornings on Family Radio, heard on a network of more than 70 radio stations in the US. He is also the ost of The Bounce podcast for pastors and church planters.

Bob and his wife, Mary Ann have five children and nine grandchildren.

Book:
Love Like You Mean It gives husbands and wives a biblical understanding of what real love looks like in marriage by unpacking the ten attributes of genuine love listed in 1 Corinthians 13. Bob Lepine, marriage and family expert and host of the nationally syndicated radio program FamilyLife Today, helps husbands and wives discover that it’s not primarily emotions that define marital love, but actions and decisions that fuel emotions and cause marital love to grow.

Every person who is married, would like to be married one day, or wants to understand more about the biblical vision of marriage will find what they’re looking for as they dive deep into Love Like You Mean It.

Bob's books include: Build a Stronger Marriage, Twelve Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About Easter, The Four Emotions of Christmas, The Christian Husband, and the Book we are discussing today:
LOVE LIKE YOU MEAN IT - The Heart of a Marriage That Honors God

When Life Feels Unfair and People Are Mean: Hannah's Story of Hope11 Mar 202600:21:46

Are you dealing with someone who's mean-spirited, manipulative, or narcissistic? Have you been praying for something for YEARS and God still hasn't answered? Do you feel stuck, alone, and wondering if God even sees you?

Hannah gets it.

In this powerful episode of Old Ladies Know Stuff, Rhonda Stoppe unpacks the story of Hannah from 1 Samuel 1-2—a woman who faced infertility, a narcissistic rival wife, and years of unanswered prayers. But her story doesn't end in despair—it ends in influence that shaped generations.

In this episode, you'll discover:

✨ How to recognize narcissistic behavior (in family members, friends, spouses, or even yourself) and what to do about it

✨ What to do when spiritual leaders let you down—and why church hurt shouldn't drive you away from God's people

✨ The power of persistent prayer—Hannah never stopped asking God for a child, and her faithfulness changed history

✨ How to find joy even when circumstances are painful—Hannah's secret wasn't her situation; it was her satisfaction in God alone

✨ Why keeping your promises to God matters—even when it doesn't make sense (like Hannah giving Samuel back to Eli, who wasn't exactly father-of-the-year material)

✨ The difference between being a consumer of church and being part of the body—Rhonda gets real about why watching online isn't enough

This episode is for you if:

  • You're in a relationship with a narcissist and feel trapped
  • You've been praying for something and God keeps saying "not yet"
  • Someone in your life is mean, manipulative, or constantly making you feel small
  • You've been hurt by church leaders and are tempted to walk away
  • You're waiting for God to answer a prayer and wondering if He even hears you
  • You need a reminder that your identity isn't in your circumstances—it's in Christ alone

Rhonda gets vulnerable about her own experience living with a narcissistic sister, shares powerful insights about how to set boundaries, and reminds us that faithful motherhood isn't about what we DO for our children—it's about how we lean into God through the journey.

Hannah's story proves that what you're walking through right now isn't wasted. Someone is watching. And your faithfulness in the hard seasons will become a legacy that outlasts you.

Listen now and let Hannah's story of persistent prayer, unshakable joy, and patient waiting inspire you to keep trusting God—even when life feels unfair.

Practical Ways to Bless Your Pastor with Rhonda Stoppe16 Oct 202400:16:59

Rhonda Stoppe has been a pastor's wife for more than 30 years. She's learned a few things along the way. With October being "Pastor Appreciation Month" it is tempting to think signing a card, adding a little money to donate toward the annual appreciation gift, but really that's not what your pastor wants from you.

The sweetest way to encourage your pastor's shepherd heart is to live out your faith in a way that brings glory to Christ. To love him genuinely, consider how you might help support his family's financial needs, but more importantly, grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

With the sorrowful news of the moral failure of headline pastors, remember how much Satan wants to destroy the ministry of your minister. You can support him by diligently praying for him, for his marriage and for his children. Ask God to protect your pastor from Satan's schemes, and to guard his heart, mind and life.

And finally, SHOW UP! Go to church. Take notes. Listen. Learn. Adjust your life to what your pastor is teaching you. Join small groups. Serve others - don't expect the pastor to do all the work. Use your gifts in your local church to support your church family. And walk in the joy of the Lord. Because the Joy of the Lord is your strength!

You can buy a copy of Rhonda's ebook for Pastor's Wives and gift it to your pastor's wife as a devotional resource to help her in her unique ministry as Minister to the Minister. I Sleep With The Pastor - 52 Week Devotional for Pastor's Wives.

Discover Your Prayer Personality with Janet McHenry06 Aug 202400:13:04

What's your Prayer Personality? Janet McHenry unpacks incredible biblical insights and inspiration from the different prayer personalities of Bible characters.

Some say you should have a prayer closet and go there every day for an hour to pray. Some say you should write all your prayers out in a journal. And some say you should keep an organized notebook for all prayer requests others give you.

But none of this feels like you.

Perhaps it's time to step away from the shoulds and discover a praying lifestyle that syncs with your God-given personality.

In Praying Personalities Janet McHenry explores biblical praying styles, numerous personality assessments, learning styles, the spiritual differences of the generations, and spiritual gifts to help you find a praying lifestyle that makes sense for you and the life you lead.

Susan's Story

After I retired from twenty-seven years of homeschooling, I answered the next call God’s gave me. As a Christian writer and speaker, I use honesty, transparency, truth from the Word, and a little humor.

And I strive to exhort women to engage in their circumstances so that God is glorified and the Kingdom is expanded. Few things thrill me like sharing Jesus with my sisters.

Oh friend, the Lord calls us to His purposes. Let’s keep fighting the good fight, even when we feel we don’t have much fight left. Jesus will enable us because the hurting world needs us!

Because you know what?

Rhonda Stoppe: Say that again! To learn how to crush it at motherhood because bud or before motherhood crushes you.

Mona Corwin [00:01:40]:
Oh, preach it, sister. The thing that I've noticed is that moms have to of their greatest fears is that their marriages won't last and that they'll screw up their very own kids. Shady Ladies with Fearless Faith: Why Your Past Doesn't Disqualify You: #MomsoftheBible Chapter 124 Feb 202600:14:08

Have you ever whispered to yourself at night, "I'll be a better mom tomorrow"—but tomorrow never comes?

Maybe you're carrying guilt from your past. Decisions you regret. Sins you're ashamed of. Things you wish you could go back and undo.

And you wonder: Can God really use someone like me?

In this powerful episode of Old Ladies Know Stuff, Rhonda Stoppe introduces Chapter 1 of her new book Moms of the Bible: Life-Changing Lessons from the Fearless, Flawed and Faithful by unpacking the incredible story of Rahab the prostitute—a woman with the shadiest past imaginable who became part of Jesus' family line.

In this episode, you'll discover:

✨ Why Rahab is called "the harlot" throughout Scripture—and what that means for moms who feel defined by their past

✨ How a prostitute became a hero of the faith mentioned in Hebrews 11 and the lineage of King David and Jesus

✨ The woman at the well's story—why Jesus went out of His way to meet her in her shame and how He turned her into the first evangelist

✨ What "though your sins are as scarlet, He will wash them white as snow" actually means for your motherhood today

✨ Why Satan wants you to stay stuck in shame—and how to break free from regrets that hold you back

✨ How God uses "shady ladies" to raise world-changers—proving that your past doesn't disqualify you from faithful motherhood

This episode is for you if:

  • You're carrying shame from past sins and wonder if God can still use you
  • You've made decisions you deeply regret and feel disqualified from being a "good mom"
  • You're struggling with the lie that you're not worthy of God's calling
  • You need to know that redemption is real—and available to YOU today

Rhonda vulnerably shares why she would have been the woman at the well without Jesus, and how studying these biblical "shady ladies" gave her hope that no matter what your past looks like, God's grace is bigger.

Here's the truth: Romans 5:8 says God showed His love for us while we were still sinners. You don't have to clean yourself up first. Jesus meets you in your mess and washes you clean.

Your past doesn't define you. Your Savior does.

Listen now and discover the fearless faith that cleanses all sin and shame.

10 Steps to Enjoy the Holidays Without Regrets05 Dec 202300:12:10

10 Steps to Enjoying the Holidays without Regrets
Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:00]:

Today, we're gonna talk about an article that I wrote called 10 Steps to Enjoy the Holidays Without Regrets. Wow. How is it that the holidays are upon us? And they are. And not only the holidays, but I have 15 grandkids. Most of their birthdays are in the months of October, November, December. So we have so much fun over the next few months. Lots of family gatherings, lots of time together. Maybe you can relate.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:29]:

But sometimes, we can make decisions. We can interact in ways that When the family all goes home, we have some regrets. So today, we're gonna visit that topic, 10 steps to enjoy the holidays without regrets. Holidays with family can stir up all kinds of emotions. For some, it's a time of gift giving and thankful reflection. For others, It means stressful family gatherings or a grievous reminder that a loved one you have lost is no longer with you. As holidays approach, we can look at 10 steps that you can practice to help prepare to celebrate in ways that you will not have regrets. Number 1, realize the value of remembering God's faithfulness.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:01:13]:

In Joshua chapter 4, the Israelites were able to cross over the Jordan Because God stopped the waters. As they crossed, Joshua instructed leaders to pick up stones to build a monument to God's faithfulness. Although Israel had witnessed miracles, God knew their propensity to forget and yours and mine too. Right? So he instructed Joshua to pick up Stones from the very river that he'd stopped as a memorial to their children of his faithfulness. Not only was this monument To remind Israel of their descendants that they should fear the Lord forever, it would also serve as a Testimony to all the people of all the earth that he is the mighty one true god. Joshua 4:1 through 24 is where you'll find that story. God's works We're not only for Israel, they were also a way of making his name known to all the nations. Remember when the spies entered Jericho and Rahab the harlot hid them? She said this.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:02:16]:

I love this. I know the Lord has given you the land, That the terror of you has fallen on us and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you, For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you. That's Joshua 29. I'm sorry. 29 through 11. When God shows up in mighty ways, it builds our faith. Right? We should learn from God's instructions to remind Selves, our children, our grandchildren, and the watching world that god is the one true god. This holiday season, do not forget the miraculous way that God intervened into the affairs of men to establish our great nation.

Rhonda Stoppe [00:03:01]:

This Christmas, remember how he gave his son to save us from our sins. Let's move on. Number 2, Expect something will not go as planned. For 1 holiday meal, I made the sweet potatoes that I make every year. And after I placed the marshmallows on the top of them and I popped them into the oven, I forgot. I got distracted, and, of course, the marshmallows burned to a crisp

For Moms Watching Their Kids Date and Singles Looking for Love: How to Choose Wisely10 Feb 202600:38:05

Are you a single woman praying God will bring the right person? Or a mom watching your son or daughter date someone and thinking, "Please, Lord, don't let them marry that person"?

This episode is for BOTH of you.

In this powerful conversation, Rhonda Stoppe draws from 44 years of marriage, raising four married children, and mentoring countless couples to share the hard-won wisdom every single woman—and every worried mama—needs to hear about choosing a spouse.

For Singles: You've heard all the advice about "waiting on God" and "trusting His timing." But what does choosing wisely actually look like? How do you know if the guy you're dating is the man you should marry? And what red flags are you ignoring because you're tired of being alone?

For Moms: Your daughter is head-over-heels for a guy who gives you pause. Or your son is dating someone you're not sure about. How do you guide without controlling? When should you speak up? And how do you pray effectively when you see warning signs they don't?

In this episode, Rhonda tackles:

  • The difference between godly attraction and settling out of loneliness
  • Red flags that predict marital disaster (chemistry can't overcome these)
  • Green flags that actually matter (hint: it's not how romantic he is)
  • Why "equally yoked" means more than just both being Christians
  • The questions that MUST be asked before engagement—about faith, finances, family, and the future
  • What missionary dating is—and why it never works
  • How moms can guide their adult children without pushing them away
  • When to speak up about concerns—and how to do it with grace
  • What to do when your child won't listen to your warnings

Whether you're praying for your own future spouse or interceding for your child's relationship, this episode will equip you with biblical wisdom, practical discernment, and the courage to have hard conversations.

Because the choice made at the altar shapes everything that follows. Choose wisely, friend—or help the ones you love choose wisely. Eternity hangs in the balance.

The Reluctant Homeschool Mom 08 Aug 202300:52:49

The Reluctant Homeschool Mom.
I see you. And I totally get you. When we moved back to California from Texas I knew I was going to have to homeschool our youngest two kids - and I genuinely didn't want to!

Seriously, I loved having our kids in good schools. I loved having the days free to meet with friends, clean my house, go to Bible Studies, and go out to lunch with my husband. But, I also knew the Lord was calling me to this ministry of homeschooling our kids. So I asked Him for help. And guess what? He helped me - and our kids - every step of the way!

This message Rhonda taught at a homeschool convention. I hope it blesses and encourages you, my friend.
