It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and is ready to massage your ear holes. This week, we're discussing Johnny Gaudreau's loss, Leon Draisaitl's contract extension, and what moves might still come before the season starts.

We started the podcast with a quick tribute to Johnny Gaudreau after the NHL star was tragically killed along with his brother Matthew last weekend as a result of an alleged drunk driving incident. No matter how you look at the story, the details get worse and even sadder the deeper you look. 

Changing gears, we got the Oilers talk going with a delicious debate about Leon Draisaitl's eight-year contract extension and whether or not it's too much money, as some other fanbases have suggested. As you'll hear, there is not one person on the podcast who believes Leon Draisaitl is overpaid and actually thinks he could end up as a bargain before the deal is over.

With Friday being the 7th annual Oilersnation Open, the guys got together to drop this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio a day early. As always, they kicked things off with their delicious debate, which today was focused on the reports that the Oilers could be looking at the trade market as a way to address the right side of their blueline. Do the guys think Stan Bowman will make a splash before the season starts? Is that even the right move to make? They debated it.

From there, they started talking about some other potential options on the blueline, specifically Tony DeAngelo. Frank Seravalli is reporting that DeAngelo would love to be an Oiler and would be willing to play for cheap. He's only 28-years-old but he comes with some baggage. The group talked about whether or he's a player worth considering to help solidify the blueline. They also talked about the NHL Network's ranking of the top 20 defensemen in the league, which featured two Oilers!

During Ask The Idiots, they spoke about some big what if moments from NHL history, the bottom-six pieces they're most excited to watch next season, and Dan had a question about a personal conundrum he's facing.

It's free agency day in the NHL and that means we're back with a special edition of Oilersnation Radio to recap some of the early signings and give our takes on how the Oilers did on day one.

Kicking off the free agency episode of ONR, we got started with a look at the moves the Oilers made this morning and how it's pretty damned hilarious that the NHL can't seem to keep any of these moves under wraps. Seeing as we all knew that Connor Brown was coming to Edmonton, it wasn't exactly surprising to see the news break shortly after the festivities kicked off at 10 AM MT. One more the Oilers made that did surprise people, however, was seeing former friend, Drake Caggiula, sign back with the organization on a fresh two-year contract. With those three moves on the books, the question became whether or not the Oilers are done? Obviously, we weren't expecting Ken Holland to get a whole lot done given the lack of cap space to play with, but it's going to be interesting to see what else happens between now and the start of the regular season. With the Oilers news out of the way, we looked around at what the rest of the league got done and tried to pick our winners and losers from the first day of free agency.

The NHL Draft is behind us, free agency kicks off tomorrow, and the Yamo trade came through, which means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.

To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a chat about the Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin trade that happened yesterday and whether it was the right move to attach Kostin to Yamamoto to make the deal go through. While a lot of us were already expecting Yamo to get traded, most Oilers fans would probably say that they were hopeful that Kostin would be back for another season. Sticking with that trade, we looked at the Kailer Yamamoto buyout and wondered out loud whether or not he would be willing to re-sign with the team that traded him. Would Yamo back at $1 million make sense? Lots of space on the right side. Looking ahead at free agency, we took a few swings at who the Oilers may be interested in tomorrow given the lack of cap space, but we tried to find diamonds in the rough anyway. The NHL Awards are in the books, the draft kicks off tomorrow, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.

To kick off the Tuesday episode of ONR, we started with a look at some of the trades that have been happening around the NHL this past week. From Taylor Hall getting moved to Chicago a few days ago to PLD moving to Los Angeles, the silly szn movement is starting to pick up ahead of the NHL Draft and that gave us an opportunity to grade a few deals that have happened so far. Changing gears, we looked at last night's NHL Awards and how Connor McDavid absolutely cleaned up. The big topic everyone was talking about after the awards, however, was the one writer that had McDavid listed as the fifth best player on his ballot. We also dove into the NHL schedule that was released earlier in the day and heavily complained about the lack of weekend games in some of our potential #NationVacation destinations. That's not to say that we won't be heading on trips anyway, but the NHL certainly didn't do us any favours again this year. Lastly, we wrapped the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with an extended version of Word Association and a very important Oilersnation Open announcement.

The NHL Draft is coming up next week, free agency kicks off right behind it, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.

To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a look at the Oilers' draft strategy, specifically how many moves we think the Oilers are going to make at the NHL Entry Draft. Given that Edmonton doesn't have a whole lot of cap space to work with, none of us think Ken Holland will overly busy but that doesn't mean he's going to be sitting on his hands. Changing gears, we looked at what's going on with the Calgary Flames and how the team has been put in a tricky situation as a handful of players have said that they don't want to re-sign. Getting back to the Oilers, we looked at the Connor Brown rumours that have been popping up and whether or not bringing him to town is as much of a foregone conclusion as the rumours would have us believe. We also touched on our former friend, Zack Kassian, getting bought out in Arizona after what was a dreadful year with the Coyotes and whether we think he'll be able to bounce back. The Stanley Cup finals are finally done, the rumours are starting to roll in, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.

The Oilers' offseason rages on, the Stanley Cup Finals kick off on Saturday, and the Leafs hired Brad Treliving as their new GM, which means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.

To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a debate about four different Oiler players and ranked which are the most likely to be back with the team for the 2023-24 season. That led Liam to play a little armchair GM as he decided he would single-handedly solve the Oilers' cap situation. Unfortunately, Tyler did not agree with Liam's work and they went back and forth for a few minutes to talk things through. From there, we looked at the minor trade that the Oilers made this week that saw the team send a 5th round pick to the New York Rangers in exchange for Jayden Grubbe. The Oilers are out of the playoffs after falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in six games, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio.

The Edmonton Oilers quest for a sixth Stanley Cup came to an end last night, losing 2-1 to the Florida Panthers. The lose put a somber tone on today's edition of Oilersnation Radio. With Tyler and Baggedmilk travelling and Rick still in his feels, Liam and Nation Dan took the wheel along with Woz, Kennedy and, special guest, Captain Feltan.

Of the jump, the five of them recapped Game 7 and talked about what went wrong for the Oilers. Was it the early goal by the Florida Panthers? The play of Sergei Bobrovsky? Or not rolling the lines in the third period? From there, they continued to discuss the Final but specifically Connor McDavid's Conn Smythe win. They reviewed the final ballot and talked about McDavid not collecting the award on the ice.

As the show continued on, the gang started to have some fun with Dan's 3 v 3 game. This weeks topic was "Oilers Superfans" which was fitting with Captain Feltan in the room. They ran through that and then played "Can you clear this up for me?" which is Woz's signature segment.

The Oilers have been wildly inconsistent through the first three games of their series against the Vegas Golden Knights, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio.

To kick off the podcast, we got started with a debate about what the hell happened to the Oilers last night in Game 3 and why the Oilers looked so awful compared to what we got on Saturday night in Game 2. Whether it was the missed assignments, passes to no one in particular, or some questionable officiating, there were plenty of things that went wrong for the Oilers and the majority of them were their own fault. From there, we looked at Laurent Brossoit being replaced by Adin Hill late in the first period and how the Oilers missed a major opportunity to test a cold goaltender. Changing gears, we looked at last night's NHL Draft Lottery and how many hockey fans are annoyed that it was the Chicago Blackhawks that ended up winning. As usual, some people thought the lottery was rigged seeing as the most unlovable franchise ended up winning, but for all of us, what's most surprising is that Chicago will likely be awful even with Bedard. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another edition of the award winning Word Association segment that Tyler always puts so much effort into preparing.

The Edmonton Oilers dropped game one versus the Vegas Golden Knights 6-4, meaning they have not won a game one since beating the Anaheim Ducks in 2017. Today's Oilersnation Radio was a packed one with the usual cast along with Jay Downton, who joined with Baggedmilk and Tyler Yaremchuk from Vegas. 

To kick off the podcast, they dove into what adjustments the Oilers need to make heading into game two on Saturday with the Delicious Debate. Many of the guys opted to go with a lineup approach while Jay went in a different direction. Does the goaltending need to change? Do they need more from their offensive stars? They discussed it all in the episode.

Following the delicious debate, they broke down what the Oilers lineup could potentially look like as the team took to the ice in Vegas during the show. With that, the most common name floating around the city right now is Vincent Desharnais and if he should stay in the lineup. Everyone gave their thoughts on Vinny's recent play and what the future could look like for him for the remainder of the postseason.

From there, we looked at the NHL's inability to get their schedules set after news broke that the Oilers game would be moving from Friday to Saturday. Seeing as Tyler and I are heading down to Vegas tomorrow morning, having this scheduling change happen the day before Game 1 is incredibly inconvenient. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a look around the NHL Playoffs and we gave our predictions on what we think will happen with the four remaining series.

The Oilers have the opportunity to close out the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night at Crypto.com Arena in Game 6, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio.

To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a guess at who could be the unsung hero for the Oilers in Game 6 and why we think that player will be the one to step up. Whether it's Mattias Ekholm coming up with a clutch goal, Kailer Yamamoto making an appearance on the stat sheet, or Warren Foegele finding redemption after the physical abuse he took on Tuesday in Game 5, there are plenty of options for Oilers that could step up with a depth marker. From there, we looked at the video that every Oilers fan was talking about from yesterday after TSN's Ryan Rishaug posted a video that made Connor McDavid look like he's injured. While we all agreed that he's probably hurt a little bit, the reason none of us believe he's injured is the fact that he's still practicing. If you remember last year's playoffs, neither Draisaitl nor Nurse practiced at all because of their injuries, which makes us feel that we're probably making too much of a deal about the video. Changing gears, we looked at the officiating during the Oilers vs. Kings and how it's kinda weird that the Kings have been given 10 power play opportunities whereas the Oilers have only earned four. From there, we looked at some of the changes Jay Woodcroft made to his lineups last night and whether or not we like having Kane and RNH flipped on the left side. One guy that isn't having trouble putting points on the board is Leon Draisaitl, who has been the best player in this series by a country mile. From Brind'Amour's perspective, he didn't see a path forward to the NHL with the Oilers organization and that actually makes sense if his dream is to make the show. We then debated how big of a loss this is for the depth chart, but as we've learned over the years, college players can be a little bit of a mixed bag. It's Friday afternoon, and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and ready to massage your ear holes. The major difference this week is that the Oilers are fighting for their lives in Game 6 with the chance to push this series back to Florida for a seventh and deciding game.

The boys started the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio discussing what their non-negotiables are for Game 6 if the Oilers are going to win their third straight elimination game. Changing gears, we looked at Ryan Nugent-Hopkins hitting the 100-point plateau and how this was a milestone that every single Oilers fan was cheering for and ultimately thrilled to see him get there. Sticking with milestones, we then looked at Connor McDavid being only two points away from hitting 150 points in a single season. And since he's likely to hit that milestone over the next game or two, we spent a few minutes discussing how ridiculous it is that this guy just seems to get better and better by the shift. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a conversation about whether or not the Oilers run with the 11-7 or 12-6 configuration once the playoffs start. While we didn't have a consensus on what Jay Woodcroft should do, the thing we all agreed on is that it's nice to have the option. From there, we looked at the big wins against Vegas and LA from this past week, and how those two regulation victories put the Oilers back in a position to win the division. With only six games left on the season, the race for home-ice advantage is as close as it's been since the start of the season. From there, we looked at Stuart Skinner's incredible performance against the Kings and how his shutout was the first the Oilers have had since Game 7 against LA in the playoffs. Not only was Skinner fantastic between the pipes, but the Oilers did a really nice job of playing a playoff-style game to close out what was a very tight game against a team they're chasing in the Pacific Division standings. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a debate about Darnell Nurse and whether or not he gets a bad rap from some Oilers fans that are hard on the guy based mostly on his contract. Even though Nurse is not without his flaws by any means, none of us think that he's anywhere near as bad as some people like to suggest and actually believe he's one of the team's best defencemen. Changing gears, we looked at last night's win over the Coyotes and how it was an important 'W' for the club after falling to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Even though it wasn't the prettiest win you'll ever see, the Oilers still got the job done and picked up two very important points. That led us into talking about Jack Campbell's night and whether or not he had a solid night or if he was once again lucky that the team in front of him is pumping goals into the back of the net. Next up, we debated whether the Oilers still have a chance to win the Pacific Division or if that ship has sailed. While they're still mathematically in the mix, there's little doubt the boys will need to string some wins together while also getting some luck with the teams they're chasing.

The Edmonton Oilers put together a strong performance yesterday, defeating the Boston Bruins 3-2 on the road. Unfortunately, Baggedmilk and Tyler Yaremchuk were not able to make the show and review game. Instead, Cooom and Gavin the Intern joined the Oilersnaton Radio cast to create the Fab Five.

No one is saying it will be easy, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

Changing gears, the guys needed to spend some time discussing what it was like to experience a Stanley Cup Final win in Edmonton on Saturday night. Whether you were at the game or downtown, the celebration was unavoidable, and the jubilation was very easy to get swept up in. And since the Oilers won Game 4 so handily, it was fair to wonder if any of the lessons and successes from that win can carry over into a do-or-die Game 5 matchup on the road.

To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at the trade deadline and how many trades we think the Oilers will make ahead of the buzzer. Tyler set the line at 2.5 trades over the next two weeks, and with our guesses placed, we tried to figure out what these deals might look like. Speaking of deals, how could we not spend a few minutes talking about the Erik Karlsson rumours that have literally taken over the city? From there, we looked at Kailer Yamamoto getting activated off the LTIR, which meant the team needed to send Dylan Holloway and Vinny Desharnais down to the Condors to make the cap situation work. While some folks were mad about the moves, for all of us on the podcast, it kinda made sense. From there, we looked at the lack of roster news from the Oilers today as basically everyone thought this would be the day that Jesse Puljujarvi was either traded or put on waivers. But since nothing happened, now we're left to sit and wait for some kind of resolution that just keeps getting kicked down the road. While the GM has said on many occasions that he's open to trading the pick, what he can't do is move that move for anything less than an impactful player. While we were all happy to collect three of four points, there were undoubtedly a handful of moments where the Oilers absolutely needed to be better. As you'll hear, this could be one of the best segments we've ever had as we all had a great time enjoying our first Butty. The Oilers extended their winning streak to six games with a big win over the Cancuks on Saturday, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re talking silly szn, Matt, and a whole lot more.

To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the Bo Horvat trade and whether or not the return will impact what the Oilers are able to do a few weeks from now. Seeing as the cost of acquisition was less than many of us expected, we wondered if that means the Oilers will be able to snag some help for a lower price than we thought. Changing gears, we spent the next few minutes talking about the Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament and how it was an experience that every hockey fan needs to have under their belt. Getting back to our beloved Edmonton Oilers, we looked at what's going to happen to the roster when Yamamoto returns now that he's back practicing with the boys. As you'll hear, the room was split on what we think is going to happen but whether or not we match up with what the Oilers are thinking remains to be seen. It's Friday afternoon, and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and ready to massage your ear holes. The major difference this week is that the Oilers are down three games, the sky seems to be falling, and we still had to try and grind out a podcast that's entertaining for everyone. Needless to say, it wasn't fun.

The boys started the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about what has been the biggest issue with the Oilers falling 3-0 to start their series against the Florida Panthers. For most of the boys, it's the lack of offence that has let them down the most. With only four goals scored in nine periods of play, the Oilers haven't been able to score nearly as much as they usually do.

From there, the guys fell off the rails again. They were clearly trying to avoid talking about the Oilers' current position in the Stanley Cup Final and wanted to talk about literally anything other than hockey. From pop rankings to banana shenanigans to how many Taco Bell Cantinas there are in the U.S.A., there was no topic too dumb to spend time on to avoid talking hockey.

Lastly, we wrapped up the episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers before winding down with some score predictions ahead of a do-or-die Game 4 against the Florida Panthers. The Edmonton Oilers six game win streak came to an end on Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the last placed team in the NHL. Despite the way they played, the Oilers did manage to take a loser point with them putting a bigger gap between themselves and the Calgary Flames and also edging closer to the Los Angeles Kings. The boys gave their thoughts on that loss and if the Oilers can bounce back tomorrow night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Unfortunately, there was no Baggedmilk on today's show, but the rest of the cast was around. After addressing the Oilers games, they dove into the idea of playing 11 and 7 rather than 12 and 6, and why Jay Woodcroft may prefer the 11 and 7 approach.
