| Leon Draisaitl is an Oiler for nine more years and it's beautiful | 06 Sep 2024 | 01:13:50 | |
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and is ready to massage your ear holes. This week, we're discussing Johnny Gaudreau's loss, Leon Draisaitl's contract extension, and what moves might still come before the season starts. We started the podcast with a quick tribute to Johnny Gaudreau after the NHL star was tragically killed along with his brother Matthew last weekend as a result of an alleged drunk driving incident. No matter how you look at the story, the details get worse and even sadder the deeper you look. Changing gears, we got the Oilers talk going with a delicious debate about Leon Draisaitl's eight-year contract extension and whether or not it's too much money, as some other fanbases have suggested. As you'll hear, there is not one person on the podcast who believes Leon Draisaitl is overpaid and actually thinks he could end up as a bargain before the deal is over. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Even with all of the news that happened this past week, the boys still managed to yammer on for over an hour about everything in the world of hockey despite it only being late August. 💻 Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/ONradiopodcast https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/ https://www.instagram.com/onradiopodcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼Powered by @bet365. | Will the Oilers make a trade before the season? | 29 Aug 2024 | 00:58:03
With Friday being the 7th annual Oilersnation Open, the guys got together to drop this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio a day early. As always, they kicked things off with their delicious debate, which today was focused on the reports that the Oilers could be looking at the trade market as a way to address the right side of their blueline. Do the guys think Stan Bowman will make a splash before the season starts? Is that even the right move to make? They debated it. From there, they started talking about some other potential options on the blueline, specifically Tony DeAngelo. Frank Seravalli is reporting that DeAngelo would love to be an Oiler and would be willing to play for cheap. He's only 28-years-old but he comes with some baggage. The group talked about whether or he's a player worth considering to help solidify the blueline. They also talked about the NHL Network's ranking of the top 20 defensemen in the league, which featured two Oilers! During Ask The Idiots, they spoke about some big what if moments from NHL history, the bottom-six pieces they're most excited to watch next season, and Dan had a question about a personal conundrum he's facing. They wrapped up the show with their Hot & Cold Performers of the week and gave their predictions for the Oilersnation Open! 💻 Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/ONradiopodcast https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/ https://www.instagram.com/onradiopodcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼Mill Woods Golf Course: https://www.millwoodsgolfcourse.com/ 👍🏼Powered by @bet365. | Who stays and who goes? | 28 Jun 2024 | 00:55:16
The Edmonton Oilers are now in full off season mode with the NHL Draft starting today and free agency opening up on Monday. The Oilers don't have any top core players heading to free agency; however, they still have the likes of Warren Foegele, Adam Henrique and Mattias Janmark all pending as unrestricted free agency. Liam, Rick, Dan and Tyler, for a short period of the show, dove into who the Oilers should look to bring back and who they should move on from. As the show moved on, they talked about Ken Holland after it was announced earlier this week that he would no longer be the general manager. The guys gave their thoughts his Holland's time here deciding if his tenure was successful or a failure. They then closed out the show with Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers. | Free Agency Reaction Episode | 01 Jul 2023 | 01:11:25
It's free agency day in the NHL and that means we're back with a special edition of Oilersnation Radio to recap some of the early signings and give our takes on how the Oilers did on day one. Kicking off the free agency episode of ONR, we got started with a look at the moves the Oilers made this morning and how it's pretty damned hilarious that the NHL can't seem to keep any of these moves under wraps. Seeing as we all knew that Connor Brown was coming to Edmonton, it wasn't exactly surprising to see the news break shortly after the festivities kicked off at 10 AM MT. One more the Oilers made that did surprise people, however, was seeing former friend, Drake Caggiula, sign back with the organization on a fresh two-year contract. With those three moves on the books, the question became whether or not the Oilers are done? Obviously, we weren't expecting Ken Holland to get a whole lot done given the lack of cap space to play with, but it's going to be interesting to see what else happens between now and the start of the regular season. With the Oilers news out of the way, we looked around at what the rest of the league got done and tried to pick our winners and losers from the first day of free agency. | Saying goodbye to Yamamoto and Kostin, and a free agency preview | 30 Jun 2023 | 01:04:36
The NHL Draft is behind us, free agency kicks off tomorrow, and the Yamo trade came through, which means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a chat about the Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin trade that happened yesterday and whether it was the right move to attach Kostin to Yamamoto to make the deal go through. While a lot of us were already expecting Yamo to get traded, most Oilers fans would probably say that they were hopeful that Kostin would be back for another season. Sticking with that trade, we looked at the Kailer Yamamoto buyout and wondered out loud whether or not he would be willing to re-sign with the team that traded him. Would Yamo back at $1 million make sense? Lots of space on the right side. Looking ahead at free agency, we took a few swings at who the Oilers may be interested in tomorrow given the lack of cap space, but we tried to find diamonds in the rough anyway. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Kennedy's quote game, answered a few questions in Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold performers. | The NHL Awards, trades are happening, and the draft week predictions | 27 Jun 2023 | 01:15:08
The NHL Awards are in the books, the draft kicks off tomorrow, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Tuesday episode of ONR, we started with a look at some of the trades that have been happening around the NHL this past week. From Taylor Hall getting moved to Chicago a few days ago to PLD moving to Los Angeles, the silly szn movement is starting to pick up ahead of the NHL Draft and that gave us an opportunity to grade a few deals that have happened so far. Changing gears, we looked at last night's NHL Awards and how Connor McDavid absolutely cleaned up. The big topic everyone was talking about after the awards, however, was the one writer that had McDavid listed as the fifth best player on his ballot. We also dove into the NHL schedule that was released earlier in the day and heavily complained about the lack of weekend games in some of our potential #NationVacation destinations. That's not to say that we won't be heading on trips anyway, but the NHL certainly didn't do us any favours again this year. Lastly, we wrapped the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with an extended version of Word Association and a very important Oilersnation Open announcement. Same thing as the last email. Also, you can include recent articles from BM in this one Check out this episode’s partners: Wilhauk Beef Jerky: https://www.wilhaukbeefjerky.com Betway: https://betway.com/en-ca/ AMA Travel: https://www.amatravel.ca/Dream __________________________________________ Follow us on Instagram @oilersnationdotcom Follow us on Twitter/Facebook/TikTok @OilersNation You can find the show on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom Visit www.nationgear.ca for merch and more. | Is Connor Brown an Oiler yet, and previewing the NHL Draft | 23 Jun 2023 | 01:16:37
The NHL Draft is coming up next week, free agency kicks off right behind it, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a look at the Oilers' draft strategy, specifically how many moves we think the Oilers are going to make at the NHL Entry Draft. Given that Edmonton doesn't have a whole lot of cap space to work with, none of us think Ken Holland will overly busy but that doesn't mean he's going to be sitting on his hands. Changing gears, we looked at what's going on with the Calgary Flames and how the team has been put in a tricky situation as a handful of players have said that they don't want to re-sign. Getting back to the Oilers, we looked at the Connor Brown rumours that have been popping up and whether or not bringing him to town is as much of a foregone conclusion as the rumours would have us believe. We also touched on our former friend, Zack Kassian, getting bought out in Arizona after what was a dreadful year with the Coyotes and whether we think he'll be able to bounce back. Lastly, we wrapped up the podcast with another edition of Kennedy's "who said it" game, Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold Performers before wrapping things up and heading off into the sunset. | Derek Ryan's new contract, rumours are rolling in, and a whole lot of nonsense | 16 Jun 2023 | 01:21:39
The Stanley Cup finals are finally done, the rumours are starting to roll in, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a look at two of the rumours that the Oilers have been linked to this past week and whether we think Travis Konecny or Brett Pesce would be a better fit. Obviously, the idea of bringing in either guy would be a win for the Oilers, but in this land of make-believe, we wanted to give our take on who we'd prefer if given the choice. From there, we spent a couple of minutes talking about Derek Ryan's new deal and how it was surprising to see some Oilers fans were upset by what seems like a low-risk contract. Changing gears entirely, the podcast took a left turn when the news broke that the Canucks would be buying out Oliver Ekman-Larsson, leaving dead cap space on their books for the next eight seasons. Lastly, we wrapped up the podcast with another edition of Word Association, Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold Performers before wrapping things up and heading off into the sunset. Hosted on Acast. | Trade targets, Columbus making moves, and another round of 'who said it?' | 09 Jun 2023 | 01:16:43
The Oilers' off-season is dragging on, Damon Severson is off the trade board, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a look at the Daily Faceoff trade board that Frank Seravalli posted this morning and whether or not there are any players on that list that we'd want Ken Holland to target. Seeing as Edmonton doesn't have much cap space to get anything done, making a big trade doesn't seem likely but that doesn't mean we're not hopeful. From there, we broke down the trade that the Blue Jackets made today that saw them send a third round pick to New Jersey in exchange for Damon Severson locked in with an eight-year contract. From there, Liam gave an update on the Mascot Hall of Fame after he reached out for an interview on last week's podcast. As it turns out, we may have an interview lined up with the HOF on next week's show if the stars align the way we hope. Lastly, we wrapped up the podcast with another edition of Word Association, Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold Performers before wrapping things up and heading off into the sunset. Hosted on Acast. | Liam solves the salary cap, Jayden Grubbe, and way too much mascot talk | 02 Jun 2023 | 01:15:13
The Oilers' offseason rages on, the Stanley Cup Finals kick off on Saturday, and the Leafs hired Brad Treliving as their new GM, which means we've got plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we started with a debate about four different Oiler players and ranked which are the most likely to be back with the team for the 2023-24 season. That led Liam to play a little armchair GM as he decided he would single-handedly solve the Oilers' cap situation. Unfortunately, Tyler did not agree with Liam's work and they went back and forth for a few minutes to talk things through. From there, we looked at the minor trade that the Oilers made this week that saw the team send a 5th round pick to the New York Rangers in exchange for Jayden Grubbe. Somehow, that led us to talk about the Mascot Hall of Fame for way too long despite not really having much to say about it other than talking pure nonsense. From there, we tried to get the podcast back on track with some talk about Brad Treliving landing in Toronto, Kyle Dubas in Pittsburgh, and the Stanley Cup Finals kicking off tomorrow, but the reality is that it didn't work very well. It seems like the last thing any of us wanted to do was talk about hockey. Lastly, we wrapped up the podcast with another edition of Word Association, Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold Performers before wrapping things up and heading off into the sunset. Hosted on Acast. | We talked about everything and nothing at the same time | 26 May 2023 | 01:16:41
The Oilers' offseason is underway, the Stanley Cup Finals are almost set, and the Leafs are reportedly interviewing Peter Chiarelli for their vacant GM position, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we got started with a delicious debate about the Oilers' offseason after Frank Seravalli told the boys on Oilersnation Everyday to expect Ken Holland to be aggressive this summer. What does being aggressive even mean? Does being aggressive mean making a big trade? A huge free agent signing? Changing gears, I got to drive the podcast into the ditch a little bit after news came out that the house Tyson Barrie rented while he was in Edmonton is up for sale for only $4.7 million. We also looked at the rumour that Peter Chiarelli has interviewed for the vacant GM job in Toronto. That led me to give a handful of reasons why the Leaves should hire Pistol Pete despite Rick urging me to stop with my nonsense. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of the podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to recap the week and get to the bottom of all things Edmonton Oilers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Which Oilers forwards will be gone ahead of next season? | 19 May 2023 | 01:15:17 | |
The Oilers playoff sadness has subsided and the boys were ready to talk hockey again, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of ONR, we got started with a delicious debate about the Oilers' forward group and specifically who we think could be moving on. For some of the players, we think they'll be moving along simply because of the salary cap, but for others, there could be a parting of ways to fish for potential upgrades. No matter what happens in terms of personnel, there's little doubt that this will be an interesting offseason for the Edmonton Oilers. From there, we spent a few minutes discussing the second round of the playoffs and how it's annoying to even be discussing the post-season with the Oilers out of the mix. Sticking with the offseason, we also discussed Frank Seravalli's free agent list for the offseason and whether or not any of his top 10 players would be a realistic fit here in Edmonton. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of the podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to recap the week and get to the bottom of all things Edmonton Oilers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| A long off-season begins for the Edmonton Oilers | 16 May 2023 | 01:05:34 | |
The Oilers are out of the playoffs after falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in six games, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the podcast, we got started with a debate about the Oilers' season and whether or not we think losing in the second round of the playoffs is a step back or not? Seeing as the team had plenty of expectations for their year, we debated about what just happened and where the Oilers go from here. That led us to talk about the current roster and who we think may be on the move as the organization will look to improve despite not having a whole lot of cap space to get the job done. Changing gears, we looked at the news that broke this past week after Frank Seravalli speculated that the Oilers could be making a swap in management that sees Ken Holland remain as POHO but Steve Staios slide in as General Manager. With the Oilers talk out of the way, we dove into the rest of the playoff picture and specifically if we'll be watching what's left or not. Unexpectedly, none of us on the podcast are too excited to watch someone else win. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another riveting edition of Word Association that Tyler literally seconds putting together. Hosted on Acast. | The Oilers lose in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final | 25 Jun 2024 | 01:06:18
The Edmonton Oilers quest for a sixth Stanley Cup came to an end last night, losing 2-1 to the Florida Panthers. The lose put a somber tone on today's edition of Oilersnation Radio. With Tyler and Baggedmilk travelling and Rick still in his feels, Liam and Nation Dan took the wheel along with Woz, Kennedy and, special guest, Captain Feltan. Of the jump, the five of them recapped Game 7 and talked about what went wrong for the Oilers. Was it the early goal by the Florida Panthers? The play of Sergei Bobrovsky? Or not rolling the lines in the third period? From there, they continued to discuss the Final but specifically Connor McDavid's Conn Smythe win. They reviewed the final ballot and talked about McDavid not collecting the award on the ice. As the show continued on, the gang started to have some fun with Dan's 3 v 3 game. This weeks topic was "Oilers Superfans" which was fitting with Captain Feltan in the room. They ran through that and then played "Can you clear this up for me?" which is Woz's signature segment. 💻 Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/ONradiopodcast https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/ https://www.instagram.com/onradiopodcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼Mill Woods Golf Course: https://www.millwoodsgolfcourse.com/ 👍🏼Boston Pizza: https://teamupforthewin.ca/ 👍🏼Great Clips: https://app.greatclips.com/ 👍🏼Powered by @bet365. | NHL DoPS ridiculousness and a Game 5 preview | 12 May 2023 | 01:12:04
The Oilers are back in Las Vegas for Game 5 after tying the series at two apiece on Wednesday night, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the latest edition of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a debate about the suspensions of Darnell Nurse and Alex Pietrangelo. As you'll hear, while we may not all share the same opinion, what is consistent between all of us is that the NHL screwed this decision up royally. Changing gears, we dug into some of the numbers from Game 4 and how it was a much better effort by the Oilers from the crease outward. Whether it was Stuart Skinner's steady performance in net or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins picking up his first goal of the playoffs, the Oilers picked up a bunch of key performances on a night when they absolutely needed them. Next up, we looked ahead at Game 5 and what the Oilers need to do to make sure they don't fall apart after a big win as they did in Game 3. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to recap the week and make sense of the world around us. | Every game is a new adventure for the Oilers | 09 May 2023 | 00:56:53
The Oilers have been wildly inconsistent through the first three games of their series against the Vegas Golden Knights, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the podcast, we got started with a debate about what the hell happened to the Oilers last night in Game 3 and why the Oilers looked so awful compared to what we got on Saturday night in Game 2. Whether it was the missed assignments, passes to no one in particular, or some questionable officiating, there were plenty of things that went wrong for the Oilers and the majority of them were their own fault. From there, we looked at Laurent Brossoit being replaced by Adin Hill late in the first period and how the Oilers missed a major opportunity to test a cold goaltender. Changing gears, we looked at last night's NHL Draft Lottery and how many hockey fans are annoyed that it was the Chicago Blackhawks that ended up winning. As usual, some people thought the lottery was rigged seeing as the most unlovable franchise ended up winning, but for all of us, what's most surprising is that Chicago will likely be awful even with Bedard. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another edition of the award winning Word Association segment that Tyler always puts so much effort into preparing. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Preparing for game two versus the Vegas Golden Knights | 05 May 2023 | 01:00:04 | |
The Edmonton Oilers dropped game one versus the Vegas Golden Knights 6-4, meaning they have not won a game one since beating the Anaheim Ducks in 2017. Today's Oilersnation Radio was a packed one with the usual cast along with Jay Downton, who joined with Baggedmilk and Tyler Yaremchuk from Vegas. To kick off the podcast, they dove into what adjustments the Oilers need to make heading into game two on Saturday with the Delicious Debate. Many of the guys opted to go with a lineup approach while Jay went in a different direction. Does the goaltending need to change? Do they need more from their offensive stars? They discussed it all in the episode. Following the delicious debate, they broke down what the Oilers lineup could potentially look like as the team took to the ice in Vegas during the show. With that, the most common name floating around the city right now is Vincent Desharnais and if he should stay in the lineup. Everyone gave their thoughts on Vinny's recent play and what the future could look like for him for the remainder of the postseason. They then wrapped up the show with Ask The Idiots and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Oilers vs. Vegas preview and the NHL doesn't know how schedules work | 02 May 2023 | 01:08:29 | |
The Oilers are getting set to kick off their second round series against the Vegas Golden Knights, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the podcast, we got started with a debate about the five key points for the Oilers to win this series against Vegas. Whether it's goaltending or special teams or star power, there are plenty of reasons to believe that this thing could go in Edmonton's favour. Provided the Oilers play up to their potential, all of us on the podcast believe that this is a series the boys can have but by no means will it be easy. From there, we looked at the NHL's inability to get their schedules set after news broke that the Oilers game would be moving from Friday to Saturday. Seeing as Tyler and I are heading down to Vegas tomorrow morning, having this scheduling change happen the day before Game 1 is incredibly inconvenient. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a look around the NHL Playoffs and we gave our predictions on what we think will happen with the four remaining series. Hosted on Acast. | Closing Time for the Edmonton Oilers | 28 Apr 2023 | 01:02:31
The Oilers have the opportunity to close out the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night at Crypto.com Arena in Game 6, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a guess at who could be the unsung hero for the Oilers in Game 6 and why we think that player will be the one to step up. Whether it's Mattias Ekholm coming up with a clutch goal, Kailer Yamamoto making an appearance on the stat sheet, or Warren Foegele finding redemption after the physical abuse he took on Tuesday in Game 5, there are plenty of options for Oilers that could step up with a depth marker. From there, we looked at the video that every Oilers fan was talking about from yesterday after TSN's Ryan Rishaug posted a video that made Connor McDavid look like he's injured. While we all agreed that he's probably hurt a little bit, the reason none of us believe he's injured is the fact that he's still practicing. If you remember last year's playoffs, neither Draisaitl nor Nurse practiced at all because of their injuries, which makes us feel that we're probably making too much of a deal about the video. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to make some sense of what's going on around us. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Opportunity Knocks | 25 Apr 2023 | 01:00:35 | |
We're back from LA, the series is tied at two apiece, and with Game 5 on deck tonight at Rogers Place, the Oilers have a huge opportunity to take their first lead of the series. To kick off the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a delicious debate about which Oiler needs to step up tonight in Game 5. Whether it's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Kailer Yamamoto or Stuart Skinner between the pipes or Vinny on the backend, there are plenty of options for players that we'd love to see elevate their game tonight at Rogers Place. From there, we dove into some of the numbers from the series and whether there are some hints within that should leave us feeling confident ahead of tonight's rematch. Diving into the game preview, we started off with Stuart Skinner getting back in the crease for Game 5 after getting pulled on Sunday night. As you'll hear, we all think it was the right call and now it will be up to Stu to make the most of the opportunity. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler spent most of his morning crafting. Hosted on Acast. | Oilers tie the series and now it's off to LA | 21 Apr 2023 | 01:15:51
The Oilers are winners of six games in a row and the Pacific Division could still be in sight, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about the Oilers' bounce-back effort in Game 2, what needs to happen in LA, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at the series heading back to LA and specifically what the Oilers need to do to come away from Los Angeles with a pair of road wins. Whether it's staying out of the box or playing to the whistle or avoiding costly mistakes, the Oilers have some details in their game that they can clean up and if they do then this series will be theirs. Changing gears, we looked at the officiating during the Oilers vs. Kings and how it's kinda weird that the Kings have been given 10 power play opportunities whereas the Oilers have only earned four. From there, we looked at some of the changes Jay Woodcroft made to his lineups last night and whether or not we like having Kane and RNH flipped on the left side. One guy that isn't having trouble putting points on the board is Leon Draisaitl, who has been the best player in this series by a country mile. Lastly, we wrapped up the Thursday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to make sense of everything that's going on around in. | The Oilers are down but definitely not out | 18 Apr 2023 | 00:58:41
The Oilers coughed up Game 1 to the Los Angeles Kings in spectacular fashion, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at how concerned we are about the Oilers dropping Game 1 of their series against the Los Angeles Kings. As you'll hear, none of us on the podcast are overly concerned about the series just yet, but that could very well change depending on what happens tomorrow. Diving into the details of that loss, we looked at some of the numbers that went against the Oilers and contributed to their collapse. Whether it was the needless penalties or questionable choices with the puck, the boys almost beat themselves more so than the Kings were able to beat them. With that out of the way, we changed gears to look ahead at Wednesday and what the boys needed to do to right the ship. From there, we also looked around the league at some of the other series that are happening to discuss some of the big stories that came out on night one of the NHL playoffs. Hosted on Acast. | Getting Set for Another Dance with the Kings | 14 Apr 2023 | 01:07:58
The Oilers are winners of six games in a row, and the Pacific Division could still be in sight, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about the Oilers' first round rematch against the Kings, playoffs predictions, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a pre-playoff debate about who is the most likely candidate to be the 2023 edition of Fernando Pisani. As you'll hear, we all picked a different name for who could step up in the postseason, and it would be fantastic if more than one of us is right. Changing gears, we dove into the Oilers' first round matchup against the Los Angeles Kings and what we're all expecting from the rematch. We also offered up some predictions on how the first round will shake out and what it's going to take to make sure the Oilers come out on top. From there, we looked at some of the other series that will be starting up around the league and whether there are any opportunities for upsets. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers to recap the week and check in with what all of you are talking about. | We want to know who the Oilers are facing in the first round? | 11 Apr 2023 | 01:09:10
The Oilers extended their win streak to seven games on Saturday and they'll be looking to keep it going against the Colorado Avalanche tonight at Ball Arena, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a debate about where we'd like to see the Oilers finish the season and who we'd like to see the boys face in the first round. Seeing as it could be Los Angeles, Seattle, Winnipeg, Vegas, or Nashville, the options are still wide open as to who the Oilers will play in round one. From there we looked at Skyler Brind'Amour announcing this morning that he would not be signing with the Oilers after being drafted in the sixth round back in 2017. From Brind'Amour's perspective, he didn't see a path forward to the NHL with the Oilers organization and that actually makes sense if his dream is to make the show. We then debated how big of a loss this is for the depth chart, but as we've learned over the years, college players can be a little bit of a mixed bag. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler spent literally seconds putting together. Hosted on Acast. | The Oilers' most important home game of the year | 21 Jun 2024 | 01:04:28
It's Friday afternoon, and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and ready to massage your ear holes. The major difference this week is that the Oilers are fighting for their lives in Game 6 with the chance to push this series back to Florida for a seventh and deciding game. The boys started the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio discussing what their non-negotiables are for Game 6 if the Oilers are going to win their third straight elimination game. Whether it's being strong on the special teams, limiting mistakes, keeping Florida to the outside of the ice, getting saves, or anything in between, there are lots of details the Oilers will need to focus on if they're going to extend the series. Changing gears, we looked back at Game 5 and what the Oilers did well in that win and what they need to improve on. Needless to say, beating the Panthers for a third straight time will be incredibly difficult, but Baggedmilk wanted to know what needs to be carried over and what needs to be scrapped ahead of the most important home game in nearly two decades. Lastly, we wrapped up the episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers before winding down with some score predictions ahead of a do-or-die Game 6 against the Florida Panthers. As always, the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio was a blast to record, and we all hope you had just as much fun listening as we did making it. 💻 Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/ONradiopodcast https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/ https://www.instagram.com/onradiopodcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼 Wendy’s: https://order.wendys.com/rewards?lang=en_CA 👍🏼Mill Woods Golf Course: https://www.millwoodsgolfcourse.com/ 👍🏼Boston Pizza: https://teamupforthewin.ca/ 👍🏼Great Clips: https://app.greatclips.com/ 👍🏼Powered by @bet365. | Celebrating the Year of Nuge and dissecting the Pacific Division standings | 07 Apr 2023 | 00:59:07
The Oilers are winners of six games in a row and the Pacific Division could still be in sight, which means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' 100th point, the six-game win streak, Jack Campbell's bounce back week, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at who would be the Edmonton Oilers' MVP if we took Connor McDavid out of the equation. Seeing as there are a bunch of guys having great years, the options for who could be named Edmonton's most valuable player are actually pretty varied if you take Connor off the list. Changing gears, we looked at Ryan Nugent-Hopkins hitting the 100-point plateau and how this was a milestone that every single Oilers fan was cheering for and ultimately thrilled to see him get there. Sticking with milestones, we then looked at Connor McDavid being only two points away from hitting 150 points in a single season. And since he's likely to hit that milestone over the next game or two, we spent a few minutes discussing how ridiculous it is that this guy just seems to get better and better by the shift. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with a look at the Pacific Division standings as they've gotten extremely tight with only a handful of games left to play. While it seems like the Oilers are going to square off against the Kings for a second straight year, that's by no means set in stone and it will be incredibly interesting to see how the standings shape up over the next week or so. | Oilersnation Radio: Stuart Skinner's Calder chances, previewing the LA matchup and the biggest threats in the playoffs | 04 Apr 2023 | 00:53:31
The boys started with the Delicious Debate where they discussed if Stuart Skinner should be in consideration for the Calder Trophy. Has he done enough to surpass the likes of Matty Beniers or Mason McTavish? Let us know over on Twitter at ONRadioPodcasts. Before diving into the Oilers games this week, Jack Campbell grabbed his first shutout of the season versus the Kings last week. With Skinner getting a shutout the game before, the Oilers are now on a shutout streak but how long will it last? Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers will go head-to-head against the Los Angeles Kings in a vital Pacific Division matchup. The guys gave their thoughts on how the game will go for the Oilers tonight and what they think of Edmonton's division championship chances. Kennedy also joined the show to talk about the new clothing we have on NationGear.ca. The new "Oil Up" and "F 29 Ing Phenomenal" t-shirts are now available for purchase today.

| Stuart Skinner shines, big wins against Vegas and LA, and the Pacific Division | 31 Mar 2023 | 01:09:00 | |
The Oilers won two big games against teams they're chasing, they have a huge run of games on deck, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about Connor McDavid's 300th goal, the wins over Vegas and LA, Stuart Skinner's big night, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a conversation about whether or not the Oilers run with the 11-7 or 12-6 configuration once the playoffs start. While we didn't have a consensus on what Jay Woodcroft should do, the thing we all agreed on is that it's nice to have the option. From there, we looked at the big wins against Vegas and LA from this past week, and how those two regulation victories put the Oilers back in a position to win the division. With only six games left on the season, the race for home-ice advantage is as close as it's been since the start of the season. From there, we looked at Stuart Skinner's incredible performance against the Kings and how his shutout was the first the Oilers have had since Game 7 against LA in the playoffs. Not only was Skinner fantastic between the pipes, but the Oilers did a really nice job of playing a playoff-style game to close out what was a very tight game against a team they're chasing in the Pacific Division standings. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a look at the remaining schedules for the Oilers, Kings, and Golden Knights to see if we can figure out who has the best opportunity to make a move either up or down in the standings. | Darnell Nurse, Jack Campbell, and chasing teams in the Pacific Division | 28 Mar 2023 | 01:01:03
The Oilers' win streak ended on Saturday but the boys got back in the win column last night against the Coyotes, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a debate about Darnell Nurse and whether or not he gets a bad rap from some Oilers fans that are hard on the guy based mostly on his contract. Even though Nurse is not without his flaws by any means, none of us think that he's anywhere near as bad as some people like to suggest and actually believe he's one of the team's best defencemen. Changing gears, we looked at last night's win over the Coyotes and how it was an important 'W' for the club after falling to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Even though it wasn't the prettiest win you'll ever see, the Oilers still got the job done and picked up two very important points. That led us into talking about Jack Campbell's night and whether or not he had a solid night or if he was once again lucky that the team in front of him is pumping goals into the back of the net. Next up, we debated whether the Oilers still have a chance to win the Pacific Division or if that ship has sailed. While they're still mathematically in the mix, there's little doubt the boys will need to string some wins together while also getting some luck with the teams they're chasing. Hosted on Acast. | Connor McDavid gets to 60, the World Cup of Hockey, and the Oilers magic number | 24 Mar 2023 | 01:07:54
The Oilers won five in a row, they have a huge run of games coming, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about Connor McDavid's 60th goal, the NHLPA survey results, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a debate about whether or not Stuart Skinner should garner consideration for the Calder Trophy. Seeing as Stu is basically saving Edmonton's season, does it not make sense for Skinner to get some love for the Calder based on how this year would be a total disaster without him? Changing gears, we looked back at Wednesday's win over the Coyotes and specifically Connor McDavid's 60th goal that came in overtime on a beautiful pass by Leon Draisaitl. For all of us, having Connor score on a feed from Leon was the way this goal had to come along, and it was incredible to see how those two keep connecting on milestones all over the place. Sticking with McDavid and Draisaitl, we also ran through the NHLPA's player survey that just came out this week and how those two were all over the list when it comes to the league's best. Changing gears, we then looked at the World Cup of Hockey after Connor McDavid talked about how the players have wanted this to happen for years now, but the NHL just can't seem to pull it together. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ON Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to look at the lighter side of the game. Hosted on Acast. | Nation Birthday Recap, Oilers wins, and Saying Goodbye to the Germans | 21 Mar 2023 | 01:15:36
The Nation's 15th Birthday party is in the books, the Oilers picked up a pair of key wins, and Mattias Ekholm continues to shine, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we recapped Saturday's party at the Pint Downtown, the wins over Seattle and San Jose, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at our friends at Oilersnation Germany and what were our favourite memories from the week with our crew from overseas. Whether it was having them meet Leon Draisaitl, the Devin Shore chants, or the energy they brought throughout their trip to Edmonton, the Germans were a bundle of energy that was so nice to have around and we'll miss them greatly until the next time they come to town. From there, we looked at Oilersnation's 15th Birthday which happened at the Pint Downtown on Saturday, and how it was an event that was absolutely incredible to be a part of thanks to the amazing support we get from Nation Citizens. Turning things back to the Oilers, we then talked about the last two wins over Seattle and San Jose and how they weren't the prettiest you'll ever see but you have to appreciate the way the Oilers closed them out anyway. Getting to individual players, we also talked about Jack Campbell's continued struggles, Mattias Ekholm's heater, and how Zach Hyman still can't score without it being challenged. Lastly, we wrapped up the podcast with another riveting Word Association segment that Tyler spent literally seconds putting together. Hosted on Acast. | Talking McDavid, Leon, the ON 15th Anniversary Party with Nick Alberga | 17 Mar 2023 | 01:14:01
The Oilers won two in a row, Liam met Devin Shore, and that means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about the Oilers' win over the Stars, tomorrow's Oilersnation 15th Anniversary party, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at the Pacific Division standings and whether or not the Oilers can still catch the Golden Knights for first place in the division. With only 13 games left to play, the Oilers do have a chance to catch Vegas but they're going to need a bunch of wins and help from other teams to get there. Changing gears, we talked about Devin Shore meeting Devin Shore after last night's game against the Dallas Stars and how much it meant to him. If you've seen the pictures, you'll understand why we had so much fun asking Liam about his night. From there, we looked at Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl's run late as they are absolutely on fire right now We also talked about Stuart Skinner taking over the net and how he is absolutely saving the season for the Oilers given how Jack Campbell has and continues to struggle. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to recap the week. Hosted on Acast. | A #NationVacation Recap, McDavid at the Junos, and an Ottawa Senators preview | 14 Mar 2023 | 01:06:35
We're back from Toronto, the boys blew another lead, and the Nation's 15th Birthday party is right around the corner, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we quickly recapped the #NationVacation, the sting of that loss to Toronto, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the 15 games that are left on the season and what we need the boys to polish up down the stretch. Whether it's closing out wins, firming up the PK, or avoiding costly giveaways, there is a long list of items the Oilers can definitely firm up. From there, Tyler and I recapped the #NationVacation to Toronto and how we had an amazing time in the Six despite the results from Saturday's game. Changing gears, we looked ahead at tonight's matchup against the Ottawa Senators and what the Oilers need to do to ensure they get back in the win column. Needless to say, all of us expect that the Oilers come into this game against the Sens with a chip on their shoulder. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another fascinating edition of Word Association before spending another 10 minutes talking about complete nonsense. | Statement win in Boston, Evan Bouchard's next contract & Coooms shovel adventures | 10 Mar 2023 | 01:14:09
The Edmonton Oilers put together a strong performance yesterday, defeating the Boston Bruins 3-2 on the road. Unfortunately, Baggedmilk and Tyler Yaremchuk were not able to make the show and review game. Instead, Cooom and Gavin the Intern joined the Oilersnaton Radio cast to create the Fab Five. After last night's strong performance, for today's Delicious Debate, the Fab Five discussed what Evan Bouchard's next contract could be. Will Ken Holland find a way to extend him long term or will Bouchard want a bridge deal? Also on the show, the boys broke down what went down at the Garden last night, including Stuart Skinner's performance, the depth scoring as well as how they handled the Bruins big guns. Earlier this week, former Edmonton Oiler Ales Hemsky released a story on his NHL career. Hemsky touched on a lot of topics which was discussed on today's show. Additionally, the guys spoke about their favourite Hemsky moments with the Oilers. If you have a moment that stands out to you, let us know yours at ONRadioPodcast on Twitter. Finally, they closed out the show with Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| The Stretch Drive, Jack Campbell, and first impressions of the new guys | 07 Mar 2023 | 00:58:58 | |
The trade deadline has come and gone, and the roster is set for a playoff push, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re looking at Jack Campbell's struggles, how much Woodcroft should play Stuart Skinner, and a whole lot more To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the new guys and what are our first impressions of both Mattias Ekholm and Nick Bjugstad. As you'll hear, we're all pretty pumped with both of the new guys and it's almost bizarre to hear that some folks are still unhappy. From there, we looked at what's been going on with Jack Campbell. It goes without saying that Soup is struggling, and seeing as he's not getting traded or bought out, what is the answer for how many games he'll play between now and the end of the season? Next up, we looked at the playoff math to try and figure out what the Oilers need to get done over the stretch run to ensure that they're not only in the playoffs but also in a position to succeed. During that conversation, we also looked at the Western Conference and whether there are any teams that can stand in Edmonton's way. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association to keep our creative juices flowing. Hosted on Acast. | Can the Oilers drag the Panthers back to Alberta in Game 5? | 18 Jun 2024 | 01:03:02
The Edmonton Oilers are fighting for their lives tonight in Game 5, which meant there was plenty for the boys to discuss on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On the Tuesday episode of ONR, the boys covered the Oilers' commanding Game 4 win, what they need to do to extend the series, and the rumours from last week that the team has engaged in extension talks with Leon Draisaitl. We kicked off the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about why everyone thinks the Oilers will still be alive tomorrow morning. Everybody knows how tough it's going to be for the Oilers to go into Sunrise and win their first road game of the series with their backs against the wall, but Baggedmilk wanted to hear why everyone thinks the job can still get done. No one is saying it will be easy, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Changing gears, the guys needed to spend some time discussing what it was like to experience a Stanley Cup Final win in Edmonton on Saturday night. Whether you were at the game or downtown, the celebration was unavoidable, and the jubilation was very easy to get swept up in. And since the Oilers won Game 4 so handily, it was fair to wonder if any of the lessons and successes from that win can carry over into a do-or-die Game 5 matchup on the road. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday edition of ONR with another round of Dan's 3v3 game, which was all about the greatest comebacks we could think of. Finally, Baggedmilk stepped in for Woz for another edition of Can You Clear That Up For Me, which was centred around the parallels between the NBA/NHL finals and whether or not the Oilers' season can be deemed a success regardless of the result in Game 5. | Winners and Losers from Trade Deadline Day | 04 Mar 2023 | 01:12:57
It's NHL Trade Deadline day and that means we've got plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're talking about how the Oilers did at the trade deadline, first impressions of Mattias Ekholm, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at Ken Holland's trade deadline work and how we would personally grade his performance. Even though it wasn't the busiest day for the Edmonton Oilers, the two moves they did make in bringing in Ekholm and Bjugstad address two needs the Oilers had on the roster. From there, we looked around the Pacific Division to see which of the Oilers' direct competitors got better or didn't do much of anything at all. We also spent some time talking about the Mattias Ekholm and Nick Bjugstad acquisitions, and how these two players will fit within the current lineup. Changing gears a little bit, Tyler talked about what it was like to do a four-hour trade deadline show on a day when there wasn't a whole lot going on. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to sum up the week that was with some of the highlights from our week. Hosted on Acast. | The Jesse Puljujarvi Trade Finally Happened | 28 Feb 2023 | 01:33:38
The Oilers finally pulled the trigger on the Jesse Puljujarvi trade this morning, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re looking at the Jesse Puljujarvi trade, rumours from around the NHL, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with our first thoughts on the Jesse Puljujarvi trade. Seeing as we all expected that Jesse was going to get moved, we dissected the trade a little bit and took a few guesses on what Ken Holland will do next. The smart money would bet on the Oilers to use their newly acquired cap space on a defenceman, but as you'll hear, moving Puljujarvi also ruins the depth a little bit on the right side. From there, we looked around the NHL at some of the names that have been moved so far and whether or not we wish that the Oilers would have been able to pull off one of those deals. Getting the trade talk out of the way, we checked in on last night's loss to the Bruins and how it was a fun game to watch while also being incredibly frustrating given the way they lost. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler put so much time together. Hosted on Acast. | Two big Oilers wins, points milestones, and Tyler's trade proposals | 24 Feb 2023 | 01:14:10
It's Friday afternoon and that means there's a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio set and ready for your ear holes. This week, we're talking about the trade deadline, a week of milestones, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at the Dmitri Orlov trade that the Boston Bruins pulled off yesterday and whether or not we would have pulled the trigger that same deal. What that debate settled, we then wondered if there are any other players that are currently available that we may trading a big package to acquire. But if the Oilers don't get a bigger name but can still pick up some smaller pieces, would the deadline be considered a success? From there, we looked at the two wins the Oilers picked up this past week and how different both of those games were. A big part of securing those two wins were the milestones put up by McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins, as all three guys hit different century marks over the last week. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to sum up the week that was with some of the highlights from our week. Hosted on Acast. | Oilers need this win against Philly, three-goal leads, and Tyler's trade proposals | 21 Feb 2023 | 01:04:15
The Oilers are rolling into Tuesday's matchup with the Flyers on a four-game losing streak, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re looking at why the Oilers are blowing leads, the goaltending struggles, our rematch with Philadelphia, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the Ryan O'Reilly trade that the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off last week, and whether or not we would have made that same trade if it was available. Without a doubt, the Leafs got better after making this move, but they also spent a lot of draft picks to make it happen. From there, Tyler pitched a couple of different trade ideas for the boys to think about as armchair GMs. With the speculation out of the way, we dug into the Oilers' four-game losing streak and what's causing the boys to fall apart as they have been. Despite the fact that the Oilers are scoring plenty of goals, they're giving up a tonne at the other end of the ice and it's costing them points in the standings. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler put so much time together. Hosted on Acast. | The Erik Karlsson rumours, Kailer Yamamoto returns, and the trade deadline | 17 Feb 2023 | 01:13:31
It's Friday afternoon and that means there's a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio set and ready for your ear holes. This week, we're talking about the NHL trade deadline, the Erik Karlsson rumours, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look at the trade deadline and how many trades we think the Oilers will make ahead of the buzzer. Tyler set the line at 2.5 trades over the next two weeks, and with our guesses placed, we tried to figure out what these deals might look like. Speaking of deals, how could we not spend a few minutes talking about the Erik Karlsson rumours that have literally taken over the city? From there, we looked at Kailer Yamamoto getting activated off the LTIR, which meant the team needed to send Dylan Holloway and Vinny Desharnais down to the Condors to make the cap situation work. While some folks were mad about the moves, for all of us on the podcast, it kinda made sense. Next up, we looked back on Wednesday's loss to the Detroit Red Wings and how that game was incredibly frustrating because the Oilers probably could have won provided that their execution was a little bit better. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| Erik Karlsson Rumours, Patrick Kane, and Silly Szn memories | 14 Feb 2023 | 00:56:59 | |
The Oilers are back from their post-break road trip with a 3-1 record, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re talking Erik Karlsson rumours, the Oilers' cap situation, tomorrow's rematch against Detroit, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the Erik Karlsson trade rumours that have popped up over the last handful of days. And seeing as everyone has an idea or two on how to acquire him, we debated whether or not it's at all likely that a trade like this happens given what would have to leave to make it happen. Another name that's been tied to the Oilers a little bit lately is Patrick Kane, and that had us offering another round of guessing whether or not this is a target that makes any sense. From there, we looked at the lack of roster news from the Oilers today as basically everyone thought this would be the day that Jesse Puljujarvi was either traded or put on waivers. But since nothing happened, now we're left to sit and wait for some kind of resolution that just keeps getting kicked down the road. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler put so much time together. Hosted on Acast. This week, we're talking about the Oilers' games from this week, the trade deadline, Jesse Puljujarvi, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a look ahead at the trade deadline and specifically how we would feel if Ken Holland doesn't spend his first round pick. While the GM has said on many occasions that he's open to trading the pick, what he can't do is move that move for anything less than an impactful player. Looking back on the week that was, we broke down the two games the Oilers played against the Red Wings and Flyers respectively, and how those two games were both exciting and frustrating at the same time. While we were all happy to collect three of four points, there were undoubtedly a handful of moments where the Oilers absolutely needed to be better. Changing gears, we looked at the neverending Jesse Puljujarvi situation as he has been a healthy scratch against the Wings and Flyers. Diving back into the rumour mill, we spent the next few minutes talking about Jesse Puljujarvi's future with the club and whether we're in the final days of his tenure here. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| It's finally an Oilers game day again! | 07 Feb 2023 | 01:03:44 | |
After an extended break from game action, the Oilers are finally back with a matchup against the Detroit Red Wings, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re talking silly szn, tonight's game against the Red Wings, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the Oilers' roster and specifically which players need to bounce back the most as we work through the stretch drive. As you'll hear, the boys all had different ideas for who needs to rebound the most, but it goes without saying that the options are plentiful. Changing gears, the guys quickly recapped Tyler's trip to the All-Star Game and how the whole weekend was kind of a bust despite trying so hard to make things cool. Getting back to the Oilers, we previewed tonight's matchup against the Detroit Red Wings and what the Oilers need to do to make sure this eight-game point streak keeps rolling. Seeing as the Pacific Division standings is incredibly tight right now, the boys have an opportunity to make some ground on the teams they're chasing. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler put so much time together. Hosted on Acast. | NHL All-Star weekend, Crisp Buttys, and why we kicked Tyler off the podcast | 03 Feb 2023 | 01:02:56
It's Friday afternoon and that means there's a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio set and ready for your ear holes. This week, we're talking about the All-Star Game, the skills competition, and a passionate Crisp Butty review. To kick off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio, we got started with a random Nail Yakupov story after Liam wanted to tell the crew a random story about getting his autograph. Getting back to business, we talked about some folks being upset that Connor McDavid will not be participating in the fastest skater competition for the first time. While some people are annoyed that McDavid isn't participating in the fastest skater, none of us on this podcast cared too much at all. Frankly, we all thought it was interesting to see him doing something else for a change. From there, we looked at the rest of the skills competition events and offered our take on who would win each event. Changing gears entirely, we pivoted to being a food podcast for the day as everyone was finally able to try a Crisp Butty. As you'll hear, this could be one of the best segments we've ever had as we all had a great time enjoying our first Butty. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round Ask the Idiots and Hot and Colder performers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| The All-Star Break is long and painful, but we're talking Oilers anyway | 31 Jan 2023 | 01:02:03 | |
The Oilers extended their winning streak to six games with a big win over the Cancuks on Saturday, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re talking silly szn, Matt, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the Bo Horvat trade and whether or not the return will impact what the Oilers are able to do a few weeks from now. Seeing as the cost of acquisition was less than many of us expected, we wondered if that means the Oilers will be able to snag some help for a lower price than we thought. Changing gears, we spent the next few minutes talking about the Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament and how it was an experience that every hockey fan needs to have under their belt. Getting back to our beloved Edmonton Oilers, we looked at what's going to happen to the roster when Yamamoto returns now that he's back practicing with the boys. As you'll hear, the room was split on what we think is going to happen but whether or not we match up with what the Oilers are thinking remains to be seen. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association in honour of Tyler even though he was getting prepped for his trip to the All-Star Game. | Oilers look to avoid disaster on home ice | 14 Jun 2024 | 01:09:31
It's Friday afternoon, and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and ready to massage your ear holes. The major difference this week is that the Oilers are down three games, the sky seems to be falling, and we still had to try and grind out a podcast that's entertaining for everyone. Needless to say, it wasn't fun. The boys started the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about what has been the biggest issue with the Oilers falling 3-0 to start their series against the Florida Panthers. For most of the boys, it's the lack of offence that has let them down the most. With only four goals scored in nine periods of play, the Oilers haven't been able to score nearly as much as they usually do. From there, the guys fell off the rails again. They were clearly trying to avoid talking about the Oilers' current position in the Stanley Cup Final and wanted to talk about literally anything other than hockey. From pop rankings to banana shenanigans to how many Taco Bell Cantinas there are in the U.S.A., there was no topic too dumb to spend time on to avoid talking hockey. Lastly, we wrapped up the episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers before winding down with some score predictions ahead of a do-or-die Game 4 against the Florida Panthers. | Time to bounce back against Chicago | 27 Jan 2023 | 00:45:11
The Edmonton Oilers six game win streak came to an end on Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the last placed team in the NHL. Despite the way they played, the Oilers did manage to take a loser point with them putting a bigger gap between themselves and the Calgary Flames and also edging closer to the Los Angeles Kings. The boys gave their thoughts on that loss and if the Oilers can bounce back tomorrow night against the Chicago Blackhawks. Unfortunately, there was no Baggedmilk on today's show, but the rest of the cast was around. After addressing the Oilers games, they dove into the idea of playing 11 and 7 rather than 12 and 6, and why Jay Woodcroft may prefer the 11 and 7 approach. Along with that, like they do every Friday, they answer some fan questions during Ask The Idiots and closed the show with hot and cold performers.

| Six straight Oilers wins with the opportunity for more | 24 Jan 2023 | 01:05:56 | |
The Oilers extended their winning streak to six games with a big win over the Cancuks on Saturday, which means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re talking about trade pieces, untouchable prospects, Liam's trivia challenge, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a conversation about potential trade pieces and whether or not there are truly any untouchable prospects if we're fishing for rentals at the deadline. If we're talking about making a trade for a guy that's strictly a rental for down the stretch, where should the line be drawn in terms of who's available? From there, we ran through a few housekeeping options as the Oilers only have two games this week, which also left plenty of room for shenanigans. From Liam's burger rankings to the weird English sandwiches he's pushing, we admittedly let the podcast fall off the rails for a few minutes. Getting back to the Oilers, Liam put together a trivia game for the boys that was incredibly difficult but was a great time anyway. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another riveting round of Word Association that Tyler spent so much work putting together. Hosted on Acast. | May this Oilers heater never end | 20 Jan 2023 | 01:18:10
The Oilers extended their winning streak to five games with a big win over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, and this means we had plenty to talk about on the brand new Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today’s show, we’re talking about Evander Kane's return, Jack Campbell, trade rumours, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s Tuesday podcast, we got started with a look at the Oilers' current winning streak and took a few guesses at how long this heater is going to last. Given the calibre of opponent that Edmonton is facing in the next couple of weeks, there's a real chance to go on a run that could put them back in contention for the division lead. Changing gears, we looked back at last night's win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and how it was one of the spicier nights we've seen in quite some time, which is interesting given that these two teams don't play each other often. From the Maroon slew foot to Kucherov's inability to get called for a penalty, we had a great time recapping the night and how big of a win that really was. Next up, we spent some time talking about Jack Campbell's turnaround and how it's been a lot of fun to watch him find his game, especially in the back half of a season when we need him most. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday edition of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Hot and Cold performers to recap the week with the highlights and lowlights from what's been going on over the last seven days.
