Through years of struggle, Brian found relief first in telling a close family friend, and much later, through the prosecution of his abuser, who eventually plead guilty. Unlike most cases, the end of the criminal prosecution of Karen Read did not end the story of Karen Read. Ms. Read finds herself named both as a defendant in a wrongful death action filed by her former partner John O'Keefe's family, as well as the Plaintiff in a civil action against the police and civilian witnesses.
