S5E10 - "Riding in Town Cars with Boys"
mardi 19 mai 2026 • Duration 57:43
The Upper East Side is one brake line away from total destruction this week as we dive into Gossip Girl Season 5, Episode 10: “Riding in Town Cars With Boys.”
Leif and Steve break down the explosive midseason finale featuring:
- Blair finally confronting her feelings for Chuck… and Louis
- Dan Humphrey returning to MVP form with some surprisingly mature decisions
- Serena realizing she may still be in love with Dan (again)
- Nate getting pulled deeper into the Vanderbilt machine
- Max evolving from annoying ex-boyfriend into full-on cartoon villain
- Ivy/Charlie’s lies spiraling completely out of control
- And of course… THAT devastating car crash cliffhanger
Along the way, the guys debate:
- Whether Dan officially entered “Ducky territory”
- If Chuck and Blair still have chemistry
- Why Gossip Girl’s pregnancy storyline never lets Blair have agency
- How bad the Vanderbilts are at literally everything
- And whether Max just committed attempted murder for five grand
Plus:
- TV Without Pity reactions from 2011
- Stock Watch ups and downs
- Best dressed of the episode
- Predictions for the aftermath of the crash
- A heartfelt Lily & Chuck appreciation segment
- And Steve continues his anti-Max campaign with extreme prejudice
If you enjoy chaotic teen melodrama, emotionally compromised billionaires, and two grown men deeply overanalyzing CW television from 2011, this episode is for you.

S5E09 - "Rhodes to Perdition"
jeudi 30 avril 2026 • Duration 01:01:48
Studio 54 Secrets: Ivy’s Gotcha, Dan’s Twitter War, and CeCe’s Collapse (Gossip Girl S5E9 Deep Dive)
Leif (a longtime Gossip Girl fan) and Steve (a first-time watcher) recap and review season 5, episode 9, “The Roads to Perdition,” noting Andrew McCarthy’s direction, returning characters (including Tripp), and nonstop disco-themed Gossip Girl narration. They cover CeCe’s Studio 54 celebration, Carol’s uninvited return, and revelations around CeCe’s illness after chemotherapy pills are spotted and she collapses during Serena’s planned “gotcha” exposing Ivy and Max. Ivy and Carol flip the situation by claiming Max is blackmailing Ivy with a sex tape, getting him kicked out; Carol also steals Max’s playbill and hints something happened to the real Charlie. Dan tracks down his online critic—Alessandra—who admits the hate account was marketing, and they join forces. Nate navigates a Spectator story implicating Tripp. The hosts grade the episode, do stock watch, and tease episode 10.

S4E20 - "The Princess and the Frog" w/Lindsay Denninger
lundi 19 janvier 2026 • Duration 01:24:59
Gossip Girl Season 4, Episode 20 – “The Princess and the Frog”
Guest: Lindsay Denninger
This week on Non-Judging Breakfast Pod, Leif and Steve are joined by author and Gossip Girl expert Lindsay Denninger to unpack one of the most divisive episodes of the series: “The Princess and the Frog.”
Blair’s fairytale fantasy reaches royal levels when Prince Louis proposes—but Chuck’s downward spiral threatens to ruin everything. As the hosts break down questionable directing choices, heavy themes, and CW fairytale overload, they also explore what this episode says about Blair’s growth, Chuck’s toxicity, and why some storylines simply don’t matter.
Plus, Lindsay shares insight into her upcoming book You Know You Love Me: How Gossip Girl Changed Pop Culture As We Know It, and why Gossip Girl walked so other prestige teen dramas could run.
⚠️ Trigger Warning: This episode includes discussion of domestic violence and sexual violence.
🧇 Episode Highlights:- Blair vs. the royal fantasy: growth or illusion?
- Chuck Bass hits rock bottom (again)
- Serena’s schemes and Eric calling it out
- Nate Archibald: bad at secrets, good at baseball metaphors
- Vanessa… why are you still here?
- Fairytale tropes taken way too far
- Lindsay Denninger on Gossip Girl’s lasting cultural impact
Grab a mimosa, pull up a chair at the non-judging breakfast table, and join us for a spirited (and occasionally frustrated) deep dive into Season 4’s messiest royal moment.

Short Bio:
Lindsay Denninger is an award-winning writer, editorial director, celebrity interviewer, two-time Jeopardy contestant, and storyteller who magically turned a love for esoteric and nostalgic pop culture into a job. When she’s not writing, streaming, or serving as copy director for major global brands, you can find her looking for snacks, reading at least a book a week, finding typos in restaurant menus, perfecting her algorithm, and playing with her dog.

S4E17 - "Empire of the Son"
lundi 29 décembre 2025 • Duration 01:16:45
This week on Non-Judging Breakfast Pod, Leif and Steve break down Gossip Girl Season 4, Episode 17: “Empire of the Son,” an episode packed with daddy issues, secret affidavits, emotional implosions, and one very frozen kiss. From Bart Bass’s legacy of trauma to Serena’s worst decision-making instincts, the guys unpack one of the most pivotal episodes of Season 4.
With corporate warfare at the Empire, friendships tested, and a romantic line crossed that can’t be uncrossed, this episode marks a major tonal shift as the show heads into a long hiatus.
🔮 Predictions & Speculation- Is Bart Bass really dead… or just Gossip Girl dead?
- How long can Dan and Blair pretend this was “just curiosity”?
- What happens now that Lily has turned herself in?
- Is Serena about to pivot straight back into old patterns?
📝 Episode Grade
- Steve: B+
- Leif: B (upgraded to a B+ emotionally once Ben exits the chat)
🥓 Final Thoughts
“Empire of the Son” is a turning-point episode—emotionally heavier, more character-driven, and finally rewarding long-term tension (even if it leaves us painfully blue-balled). With major reveals, evolving dynamics, and the promise of chaos ahead, this is peak Gossip Girl momentum heading into hiatus.

The hosts break down Blair’s unraveling at W, Dan accidentally becoming a drug mule, and Eric’s $100,000 birthday problem. They also unpack Chuck and Lily’s corporate espionage scheme, Nate’s accidental seduction of Raina Thorpe, and Serena once again choosing family over logic.
Plus:
- A behind-the-scenes shoutout from director Norman Buckley
- Why Dan & Blair’s chemistry is the emotional core of the episode
- Damien Dalgaard’s final, audacious play
- Vanessa’s perfectly timed (and deeply annoying) return
- Rolling Stones Easter eggs you probably missed
