S1E14 - The Blair Bitch Project27 May 202400:59:11

Leif and Steve do a spoiler free recap of the original Gossip Girl TV show that aired on the CW from 2007-2013.   They take a deep dive–one episode at a time–examining all the references to old movies and literature as well as exploring all the parallels and foreshadowing used by the writers. Not to mention, discussing all the schemes, secret hookups, and couture catastrophes.

This week the guys break down Gossip Girl season 1, episode 14 titled “The Blair Bitch Project”. Original air date April 21st, 2008.

The TWoP episode description reads: Way too long previouslies, about which I am of two minds, because on the one hand it's nice to be reminded, I guess, but are we still pretending that recaps are for people who missed the previous episode or episodes? The longer the previouslies, the more likely it is that a new viewer is going to throw up her hands and say that this show is too hard. When the fact is, to understand this episode, you only have to know that Blair is a bitch and got totally boned, in a social context, and that Jenny is an idiot, and is asking to be destroyed. And to enjoy the episode, you need less than that: just eyes, a heart, and a love of bright colors. And, you know, best episode title possibly ever, so there's that too.

S1E17 - Woman on the Verge [with Shannon Kelly]08 Jul 202401:39:52

Hey Upper East Siders and all you scandal-loving listeners out there! Welcome back to the Non Judging Breakfast Pod, where the coffee is strong, the waffles are fresh, and the gossip is hotter than ever. Join Leif, your seasoned Gossip Girl veteran, and Steve, the newbie diving into the Upper East Side for the first time.

This week, we dive into Gossip Girl season 1, episode 17, titled “Woman on the Verge”. Original air date: May 12, 2008.

Join us as we dissect the drama, romance, and sometimes questionable fashion choices from this iconic 2007 series. We break down the intense moments with Serena, the non-judging breakfast club dynamics, and the shocking revelations that keep us on the edge of our seats. Plus, we discuss the deeper emotional moments, like Lily’s conflicting emotions and the unexpected alliances that form to take down Georgina.

The TWoP Bayliss recap reads: Spotted Lisa Loeb looking exactly the same way she always has, singing the song she's always sung and playing host to Rufus and Lily's reconciliation and boot knocking. That part was awesome because, of course, their sad Laura Ashley lunchbox purse love could only be reignited at the where-are-they-now party for the lame 90s bands. It also goes well with the storyline, which is straight out of Boy Meets World.

S4E06 - "Easy J"13 Oct 202501:08:28

Hey Upper East Siders — and all you scandal-loving listeners! This week, Leif and Steve dive headfirst into Gossip Girl Season 4 Episode 6, “Easy J”, where Jenny Humphrey’s grand return to Manhattan sends shockwaves through the social food chain.

Little J’s back from exile, rocking her own designs and her trademark chaos energy. But is she here to reclaim her place… or just to blow it all up? 👀

Leif (our resident Gossip Girl historian) and Steve (our freshly corrupted newcomer) unpack the delicious drama that unfolds when Jenny crashes the W party, tangles with Blair over a dress, and reignites that never-quite-dead spark with Nate. Meanwhile, Serena’s love life continues to be one long, luxurious disaster, and Chuck plays puppet master from the shadows — though even he might be losing control of the board.

The hosts get into all of it:

  • Jenny’s fashion revenge arc and why it still hits
  • Blair’s toxic perfectionism (and what makes her so irresistible)
  • Serena’s eternal struggle between chaos and charisma
  • Dan and Nate’s unintentional himbo energy
  • And of course, the real MVP: Gossip Girl’s ability to turn teen melodrama into Shakespearean theater

Expect unfiltered opinions, pop-culture parallels, and at least one tangent about Rufus Humphrey’s very questionable dad vibes. As always, the coffee’s strong, the waffles are fresh, and the gossip? Hotter than ever. ☕🔥

The hosts break down Serena’s narcissism, Dan and Blair’s emerging chemistry (!!!), Eleanor’s backhanded growth, and the sweet chaos of Eastern European wedding games. Plus: shoutouts to Cece’s scheming, Rufus’s tragic Bisquick waffles, and a killer wardrobe episode for Jenny and Dorota alike.
