A former quarterback at Willamette University, Mitchell has also coached in Sweden, Germany, and across the U.S., earning a reputation for his innovative offensive schemes and player development. Today on No Warmup, Nick and Mikey are back with another controversial tier list — this time ranking NFL quarterbacks. Is it reasonable, or completely off the rails? Plus, drama is heating up across the league, from head coaches to general managers. Some of the NFL franchises may be in a tough spot. All of this and more in this episode of No Warmup.
Today on No Warmup, Nick breaks down the key to success for rookie quarterbacks, elite coaching. Ben Johnson might be transforming the Chicago Bears' culture for the better, while Mike McDaniel’s situation in Miami seems to be heading in the opposite direction. Plus, college football is in chaos with upsets shaking up the rankings every week — and now Penn State is in the spotlight. Who will they hire as their next head coach? There aren’t many options on the table. All of this and more on this episode of No Warmup.
Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers with a combined age of 81 put on a show for Thursday Night Football's "Unc Bowl", and Nick and Mikey dive into the benefit of having an old, experienced Quarterback at your helm. Curt Cignetti signed a historic deal to stay at Indiana, and Deion Sanders impressed again with his moves as the Colorado head coach. All of this and more on this episode of No Warmup.
Today on No Warmup, Nick and Mikey break down a controversial NFL tier list after Week 6, sparking some heated debate over where teams really stand.
After Monday’s NFL games, are the Falcons a sleeper team that no one’s been talking about? And have the Bears revitalized Jake Moody’s career after his game-winning field goal?
Lastly, Nick and Mikey react to and rate several head coaches across college football.
All of this and more on this episode of No Warmup.
Today on No Warmup, Nick and Mikey break down the chaotic Chiefs vs. Lions fight and what it means for both teams. They also discuss Fred Warner’s injury and how the 49ers can’t catch a break. After the Bucs vs. 49ers game, it’s starting to look like Baker Mayfield might be the real deal. Also, with the way things are going in Jacksonville, has Liam Coen finally won us over?
On the college side, Indiana pulls off a shocking upset over Oregon, and major shakeups hit football as Penn State fires James Franklin and Oregon State lets go of Trent Bray. All that and more on this episode of No Warmup.
And the Giants keep reminding us of it as they rolled the Eagles convincingly. Jaxson Dart showed real moxie and earned loud public backing from Brian Daboll—apology to the team doctors and all. If “it’s too early” was our stance on starting Jaxson Dart, we’re rethinking it. Cam Skatteboo capped the night with a TD explosion.
Philly check: Jalen Hurts had time, the timing didn’t. Coordinator heat is rising, A.J. Brown is defending the room, and the “fraud alert” we floated last episode is back on the table.
Around the league: Nick Bosa warps offenses; word is John Lynch is shopping for another premium rusher.
Game segment: WHO AM I? (NFL player edition).
0:00 - Intro: Giants and Philly Surprise 0:39 - The Jaxson Dart Decision Revisited + Cam Skattebo's Mentality 3:58 - Giants HC Brian Daboll Is A Passionate Coach, But The Optics Are Not Great 6:00 - A Theory For Why People Seemingly Don't Connect With Russell Wilson 12:25 - Receipts: Jaxson Dart Is A Leader That New York Needs 16:12 - Are The Eagles OK? 26:47 - GUESSING GAME: Name This Active Player 35:01 - Nick Bosa's Impact Is INSANE + 49ers Are Making Moves
This season feels like a simulation. We start with the 4–1 Jaguars—should we rethink Trevor Lawrence and admit Liam Cohen might be great? Then the 2–3 Chiefs: fine or fronting, and what Chris Jones’ effort on the game-winner actually says. Among the 4–1 crowd, we pick the team that’s for real and the one that’s fraud.
Chaos file: the Browns trading Joe Flacco a week after benching him—only the third intra-division QB trade since 2001. What were the Browns doing, what are the Bengals thinking, and how did the Ravens miss a reunion? Also: why is Shedeur giving takes from a car dealership interview?
Quick hits: should the Eagles talk OC changes? Jerry Jones fined 100k for the flip; Cardinal HC Jonathan Gannon fined 100k for hitting his RB; UNC's Bill Belichick Hulu doc reportedly iced; Baker Mayfield talks trash pregame then posts it.
0:00 - Intro 0:19 - Jaguars Are Proving EVERYONE Wrong 4:30 - Kansas City Chiefs: Lack of Effort or Fine? 14:50 - Who Is A Contender Or Pretender of the NFL's 4-1 Teams? 17:38 - Why Trading Joe Flacco Is NOT A Good Thing For Cleveland (even with a 5th Round pick) 26:55 - Realistic Or Unnecessary Panic: Should Eagles Fire Their OC? 29:43 - Why This Is The Strangest Start to An NFL Season 31:50 - Former Players Talk HC Gannon's Fine 38:29 - What Is Happening With UNC's Football Coach Bill Belichick?
Winners: Bucs, Seahawks, the Neuheisel family, and Ohio State WRs—Emeka Egbuka is a glue-guy mentality in a rising star.
Losers: Penn State, the Harbaughs, the Jets, and yes, Mark Sanchez’s timeline.
If the NFL playoffs started today, who’s real and who’s pretending?
We open with Seahawks–Bucs (early game of the year): Tampa’s late-game DNA keeps cashing while Seattle answers every punch. The Broncos and Bo Nix stun the Eagles—what broke on defense and why Philly's bend-don't-break approach finally caught up with them.
Plus, the Bills might need a reminder: they can’t ask Josh Allen to do everything. Drake Maye is quietly separating from his QB class, and Mike Vrabel looks built for January. The Ravens defense looked rough—does the Harbaugh noise have football merit or just frustration?
We also play SPORTLE (guess the highest paid per year by position), then hit college fallout: Texas and Penn State tumble, PSU’s loss is brutal, UCLA’s win with Jerry Neuheisel calling it was a great family moment, and why Texas fans need to take a DEEP breath on Arch Manning... It'll all be fine...
0:00 - Intro: Cherish The NFL Chaos 0:40 - Why Tampa Bay Is Ready For A DEEP Playoff Run Already 6:54 - Is It Even Possible To Win As A Jets Head Coach? 9:55 - How The Eagles CrumbleD Against the Denver Broncos 15:07 - Patriots Beat Juggernaut Bills: Did Drake Maye Just Have A Career Defining Game? 20:52 - SPORTLE: Guess the HIGHEST Paid Active NFL Player At Each Position 33:00 - Ravens Reeling: Should Baltimore Fire Harbaugh? 39:00 - The Odd (Alleged) Mark Sanchez Saga 44:55 - COLLEGE FOOTBALL RANKINGS: What Will Penn State and Texas Do Now?
49ers upset the Rams at SoFi and everything gets messy—in a good way. Mac Jones looked terrific despite a mash unit around him. Is this a Mac stamp, a Kyle Shanahan masterclass, or a quiet Brock Purdy indictment? And what was Sean McVay doing late—why not put it in Matthew Stafford’s hands? San Francisco’s defense closed, and Kyren Williams learned an Ernest Byner–style goal-line lesson.
New segment — SPORTLE (NFL): Top 10 all-time earners in league history. Who surprised us, who didn’t, and what it says about positional value.
Shedeur Sanders after not being named the Week 5 starter: playful bit or the exact interview vibe teams flagged pre-draft? We react, then hit the Week 5 slate with our sleeper good games.
College corner — SPORTLE (CFB): Top 10 programs with the most active NFL players today. Plus: Notre Dame doubled its CFP odds after the Arkansas beatdown—and if we still used BCS, the Irish would be No. 3.
0:00 - 49ers vs Rams: Why Every Coaching Decisions Matters 2:30 - Is This A Testament to Mac Jones + Shanahan or An Indictment of Brock Purdy? 18:26 - NW NFL SPORTLE: Guess The Top 10 Highest Earners in NFL History 26:23 - Browns QB Shedeur Sanders's Odd Media Interview Goes Viral: Is This A Problem? 32:25 - NFL Week 5: Bo Nix Broncos vs Jalent Hurts Eagles + Good Sleeper Games This Weekend 36:20 - Philadelphia Eagles Growing Problem: AJ Brown's Future 40:13 - College Football Breakdown: Notre Dame Is On The Rise 43:35 - Alabama's Back? and the SEC Gauntlet Gets More Difficult 49:00 - NW COLLEGE SPORTLE: Guess The Top 10 programs with the most active NFL players today
We'll say it - The NFL has a QB problem and expectations are wild. We’re tackling it head-on with a new mailbag that answers your DMs.
Benches and pivots first: Joe Flacco sits in Cleveland, Dillon Gabriel gets the nod over Shedeur Sanders—was that always the plan? And did Shedeur passing on the Ravens age differently now that Lamar is banged up?
Then the league’s Europe push: more overseas games than ever. Smart growth or a slow bleed on practice time, travel legs, and QB play?
Jets loop (why the same teams stay bad). Dolphins without Tyreek Hill (why the offense changes overnight). Bengals and the real reason Burrow keeps getting hit (hi, offensive line), plus why a Euro footprint could make that worse.
Snapshot of divisional leaders, AFC playoff odds (hello, Steelers), and why Aaron Rodgers feels fine even if the box score doesn’t.
We’ll also roast those team “brainrot” promo vids (looking at you, Buffalo).
0:00 - BREAKING NEWS: Dillon Gabriel (not Shedeur Sanders) to start for Cleveland Browns 6:55 - ANSWERING DMs: Should Shedeur Sanders Start NOW? 13:24 - College Ball Break: Is The Alabama HC Job MORE Enticing Than the Oregon Ducks HC Job? 15:35 - ANSWERING DMs: NFL Expanding To Europe Is Coming - Why The QB Is Why It Won't Work 27:40 - Dolphins Win, but LOSE WR Tyreek Hill - What to expect moving forward in Miami 31:31 - Bengals Offensive Line Woes and Joe Burrow's Future 33:50 - NFL In Europe Part 2 35:50 - NFL Divisional Leaders + Why People Are Counting out The Steelers and Aaron Rodgers 39:10 - RUMOR: Shedeur Sanders Chose Not To Go To Ravens 42:28 - NFL Social Media Teams Making Brainrot Content + NFL Protect the Shield?
Tie on SNF?! Cowboys–Packers ends with no winner and the internet melts. Should the NFL eliminate ties or keep the chaos? Giants–Chargers: Herbert’s ball security vanished, Jaxson Dart was solid, and Malik Nabers’ ACL injury reignites the turf war conversation in the NFL. Steelers–Vikings: it’s time to talk Old Man Aaron Rodgers and the steady Steelers Chiefs–Ravens: Baltimore gets smoked, Lamar exits in Q3 with an alleged hamstring injury and the “quit” talk starts; Mahomes dealt the ball all game while Ravens defenders dropped like flies. Eagles–Bucs: Philly found a way late—Sirianni’s culture travels. Still a statement from Baker taking them to the wire without WR Mike Evans. Jaguars–49ers: Jacksonville bullied San Francisco; sideline sparks flew (heated staff moment), and Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson snapped back at a reporter during a live game interview - who is in the wrong here?
0:00 - Intro: Stories of the Day 0:28 - Why NFL MUST Get Rid Of Ties 4:11 - New York Giants Take Down Chargers + Jaxson Dart Found A Way To Win 6:30 - Why Are NFL Injuries Are On The Rise? 13:43 - NFL In Ireland + Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers STILL Has It 18:28 - The Ravens Are Reeling + Lamar Injured Or Quit? + Will They Move On From Harbaugh? 24:57 - Why Eagles Just Keep Winning and Why This Is A GOOD Loss For Tampa 32:09 - When Coaches Go At It Post Game: 49ers vs Jaguars 37:10 - NFL Speed Corner: Browns vs Lions + Bears HC Snaps at Reporter + Raiders Jeanty Is Rolling
TNF: Seahawks–Cardinals — a “for sure” kick, Marvin Harrison Jr.’s rough drops → redemption TD, and why panic needs context. Sam Darnold is dealing—did the Vikings misread the room? What a true “second chance” unlocks (confidence, role clarity, simpler asks). The Russell Wilson discourse: RG3 hates it, Richard Sherman torches it—where we land on the narrative vs the tape.
QB Heat Check: our Top 10 QBs (performance-only) so far. Week 4 slate: favorite matchup and our upset pick.
College Football Corner: It's a wild weekend of games and the Mike Gundy situation—plus why that seat (and job) stays attractive.
Ask: Which “second-chance” QB are you buying right now—and who’s your Week 4 upset? Drop one football reason (timing, accuracy under pressure, red-zone answers).

New York is benching Super Bowl-winning QB Russel Wilson and handing the keys to rookie QB Jaxson Dart. We debate the decision, walk through the next five games, and why the timing has us split between “bold” and “setting him up to fail.”
Also in this episode:
- 49ers lose Nick Bosa (ACL): when does a season become “washed,” and does a Trey Hendrickson trade make sense?

QB stock up, stock down. We open with the Bears & Caleb Williams torching Dallas—were we too early to write off this coach-QB marriage? Two first-win speeches, two cultures between Dallas Cowboys DC Eberflus and Chicago Bears HC Ben Johnson
Then: Baker Mayfield MVP watch (4th-quarter DAWG with the receipts), and whether Daniel Jones belongs in the way-too-early conversation.

College football heat check. We open with the impossible job of keeping fanbases happy—why every presser is a referendum and what Brian Kelly did (and didn’t) say. We handicap current CFP paths, circle this week’s must-watch matchups, and stare down the Oregon–Oregon State “Civil War” with a historic spread and a first-year HC (Trent Bray) who isn’t exactly radiating swagger.
Then to the NFL: the Bills smack the Dolphins, Miami falls to 0–3, and Josh Allen becomes the fastest QB to 300 TDs—so… are “wins” a QB stat or not? We stack divisions by quarterback strength and check in on Caleb Williams: progress is real, but why hasn’t Ben Johnson’s public praise matched the hype—and how are Bears fans coping with that gap?
Drop your CFP four, the best QB division, and your stance on the “wins aren’t a QB stat” debate below.

Baker Mayfield keeps closing games like a psycho—leading the NFL in 4th-quarter TDs since ’23—and we break down why his late-game traits travel.
Then we ask: is Justin Herbert turning into the Josh Allen 2.0 — a true “lab-made” QB finally moving the needle?
Plus: JJ McCarthy’s injury (and why a reset helps), Carson Wentz’s return, the most surprising 2–0/0–2 teams, a quick power-ranking check, and what’s really going on with Mahomes’ two-year dip.

The Bengals let Joe Burrow get battered (turf toe) — cash-poor vibes, no cart, and a franchise failing its QB. At what point does he say "Enough is enough - goodbye"?
The Chiefs are 0–2 for the first time since 2014—losing the magic or early noise? Thoughts on Kelce’s sideline blowup. And yes, Sirianni’s legit.
SNF stinker?: young QBs struggled and defense was the real story; JJ McCarthy couldn’t find Jefferson or anyone in Vikings purple as Michael Penix Jr. did just enough to get the Falcons a win.
Cowboys–Giants: “Old Russ” showed up, but you can’t give up 40; Aubrey 64-yarder to OT—why do 50+ FGs feel automatic now?
Lions–Bears: Dan Campbell rocks, Goff cooked—can the Ben–Caleb experiment work?
49ers still find a way—how good teams are built to win even with a recovering backup in Mac Jones.

Did we just watch the best Week 1 in NFL history? We hit the biggest highs—and the uncomfortable truths.
Caleb Williams + Chicago Bears Concerns - Missed a would-be TD late on 4th; rough day by the metrics. - Kurt Warner’s defense vs our tape notes: where we actually land. - Swag ≠ substance: when it helps—and when it hurts.
JJ McCarthy + Minnesota Vikings Earned the Win - Captain stuff: operation, toughness, and the snap-to-snap answers you want from a rookie. - Big fourth-quarter moments that scream Harbaugh mentality—and why the locker room clearly loves JJ McCarthy.
Justin Herbert Is Headed For NFL Mt. Rushmore? - The Peyton Manning comparison everyone’s whispering: where it’s fair, where it isn’t, and what the film says about his control of the game.
Steelers keep doubling down on defense - Jabrill Peppers to Pittsburgh: why the pairing with Jalen Ramsey in that secondary is a headache for offenses. - “Are the Steelers addicted to defense?”—what that identity buys (and costs).
We eat it: Jaguars HC Liam Cohen = the only rookie head coach to notch a Week 1 win.
Jake Moody waived—what that means for late-game math and roster priorities.

0:00 - 🔥 NFL Week 1 Intro
0:41 - NFL Playoff Energy: Lamar Jackson vs Josh Allen Allen got the late edge in an instant classic, but Lamar + Derrick Henry looked like a bully-ball cheat code (that 4th-quarter clock-eater says plenty). Also: why Kyle Hamilton already plays like a “best at his position” safety.

37:33 - Caleb Williams Bears vs Vikings (PREVIEW) The Ryan Poles noise, what actually translates to Week 1, and the cleanest path to a debut that's not self-defeating for Caleb. JJ McCarthy looks to lead the Vikings into a new era in 2025.
41:43 - Seahawks–49ers Brock Purdy let it rip like a gunslinger TDs and INTs, but got the WIN while, Niners Kicker Jake Moody… that leash is getting short.

An NFL execs & coaches poll on “which QB you’d start a franchise with” just dropped—and it’s spicy: Lamar Jackson below Jayden Daniels. We break down what the list got right, who got disrespected, and which QBs will surprise or sink their teams this season. Then we hit FOX’s new Power Rankings (actual shockers), the Micah Parsons podcast fallout in Dallas (why the room’s “happy it’s over” and why the injury isn’t nothing), and Johnny Manziel still blaming the Browns—does he have a point?

We break down who actually won the deal, why Jerry Jones thinks Dallas can win more this way, and whether this is the kind of roster math we feared with the Trey Hendrickson situation. Plus: the new highest-paid non-QB list and whether GMs are making hard calls…or missing obvious ones.

The Cleveland Browns and Shedeur Sander saga continues, with conspiracies popping up about the way head coach Kevin Stefanski has been handling his reps and development. Couple that with the fact that Shedeur's brother, Shiloh Sanders, was ejected from his final preseason game and then released the next day, and you've got some theories swirling. Micah Parsons added some interesting elements to his ongoing negotiations with Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys as he was seen "lounging" around on the sideline during the preseason game. On the college football front, the Farmaggedon classic kicked off the College Football Season in Dublin, Ireland, and the Alfieri brothers debate whether or not it is appropriate for college football to be kicking off it's season in a foreign country.
The New York Giants might have the most exciting QB room in the NFL. With Russell Wilson providing a steady floor and Jaxson Dart flashing real upside, we break down why this combo works, what Dart already does at an NFL level, and the timeline for a clean handoff—without overreacting to preseason noise.
Today’s lineup - Giants QB Room Deep Dive: Russ’s value on operation/protection, Dart’s traits that travel, and the start-date debate - Bears extend Tyson Bagent (backup market & why stories matter but reps matter more) - Colts backup dynamics with Anthony Richardson (agent noise vs. development) - Cowboys drama: Jerry Jones vs. Micah Parsons’ leverage plays—good move or 2025 distraction? - Patriots: why Mike Vrabel’s tone on leaks screams “buttoned up” (and why that wins in November) - College Football Corner: new Notre Dame logo—erosion of tradition or healthy refresh?

Daniel Jones was named the Colts’ starter over Anthony Richardson. We break down whether this is a smart short-term floor play or the start of another QB carousel—and what it does to Richardson’s development clock.
What we cover
- Why staffs sometimes pick operation & protection over raw upside - Age & reps: how many real games QBs usually need before they stabilize - The Browns-style QB carousel tax and how teams waste prime rosters - Best defense of the move (install speed, turnover control) vs. best indictment (ceiling capped, message to the locker room)
The Bears surprised the haters with a preseason win full of identity: WRs cracking down, cleaner operation, and a QB who looked in command. If that travels, we may owe Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson an apology... Then we dig into the Bengals opening the door on Trey Hendrickson, what that means for the Bengals playoff future, and quick hits on Ashton Jeanty, Abdul Carter’s number ask, and Shedeur’s media game.
Today’s lineup: - Bears’ statement win: why WR crack/replace changes the run game & play-action, and what looked different with Caleb - Ben Johnson buy-in: Luther Burden III finishing blocks = team standard - Bengals & Trey Hendrickson: the blindside/edge tax of moving your finisher; can anyone defend the decision? - Ashton Jeanty: contact balance = NFL role that plays on money downs - Abdul Carter’s LT request: rookie optics vs. legend protocol—how to handle it Shedeur: cool confidence or just take the compliment? what leaders say at QB
