Making its premiere at Sundance over a year ago, "The Killing Of Two Lovers" is one of those independent discoveries that makes you excited to see what everyone involved will be doing next. That's because so many elements are well-thought-out and pronounced within the film to tell a story that feels familiar but is being presented in ways unlike we've previously seen before. It was a rollercoaster of emotions as the 93rd Academy Awards concluded in a shocking upset for Best Actor that left a poor taste in many fans' minds after the producers made the decision to announce Best Actress & Best Actor after the Best Picture award (first time this had happened since the 1930s) all in hopes of a different outcome than what we received. "In A Violent Nature" had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it received strong notices for its direction by Chris Nash, which takes the approach of telling a slasher film from the perspective of the serial killer rather than the victims. The film disgusted audiences with its brutal and highly meticulous kills and is now being released in theaters by IFC Films, with a streaming release on Shudder set for later this year.
