| Sustainable Travel | 23 Sep 2023 | 00:32:53 | |
The world is moving closer together, we are globally linked, leisure, study and work take us digitally and physically to other countries. At the same time, hurricanes, forest fires, hailstorms, floods, draughts and landslides are making it increasingly clear that we urgently need to rethink our means of production and travel in order to stop heating up the planet and curb climate change. Off the plane, but where to? Deniz (Crop Sciences) sat together with Helene (Crop Sciences), Anna (Organic Agriculture/Researcher) and Mischa (Environmental Protection and Food Production) to discuss and share how we can travel more sustainably, both, for business and leisure. Many students and researchers join summer schools, workshops and conferences, like the upcoming ELLS conference in Hohenheim, to gather, share and develop research, forever striving to improve ourselves and our impact on the planet. But even if you are someone who prefers to travel for leisure, there are lots of ways for you to be more sustainable! Especially if you want to explore Europe/the EU during your studies in Hohenheim, you should seriously consider Interrail/Eurail. For comparatively little money you can go through all of Europe (or only to one specific country) by using trains, busses and even some ferries. What better way to learn about the many countries and cultures of Europe? The path is the goal!
Check out interrail/eurail: https://www.interrail.eu/en and take a look at the night train network: https://back-on-track.eu/.
