64: The Adventure Inside Every Man with Joby Martin01 oct. 202501:00:05

This week we are sitting down with my very own pastor, Joby Martin. Inside of every man is the question, “do I have what it takes?”. We talk about where that originates and how the ache of risk, danger, and adventure lives inside of every man. This world has tried hard to dull it, but the Bible says otherwise. It was such a fun conversation about how all of us can play a part in cultivating space for our men to flourish. Because where men lead and love well, everyone flourishes.

Be sure to buy Pastor Joby’s book, Stand Firm and Act Like Men, anywhere books are sold. It’s for any man and anyone that knows a man 😉

63: What in the World is Happening?17 sept. 202500:54:48

In today's audio only episode, I sit down with my friend and Bible teacher, Caitlin Armstrong, to process what has been happening in our country this past week alongside the truth of who God is and what His Word says.

We know it's been a heavy week and at the same time, we are seeing God move in a mighty way in His Church and this country. We hold onto a hope beyond what we can see knowing we serve a real and good God.

Scriptures we reference:

Habakkuk 1

Luke 6:27-28

Acts 7

Key takeaways:

1. Guard your inputs

2. Anchor in scripture

3. Pray for our enemies

4. Share your faith

Due to the last minute nature, this episode is audio only from our Patreon community. We’d love for you to join us on Patreon for $5/month to get weekly conversations with Ali Parsons and Caitlin Armstrong. To sign up, go to patreon.com/Neighborspodcast

62: Called to Hustle, Not to Results with Jordan Raynor03 sept. 202500:48:51

If there is someone who has wrestled out what the intersection between faith and work is, it’s Jordan Raynor. With his spitfire energy and unique lens at which he evaluates the character and nature of God, he shows us this beautiful integration between work and faith. He unpacks what it means that God is a working God and why that matters in your life whether you are a CEO, stay at home mom, or garbage collector. We get super practical (always a win) with disciplines you can start implementing into your life right now!

61: I Didn’t Know How to Give God my Addiction with Alan and Hunter Orcutt20 août 202501:01:51

If you need a story of God’s relentless pursuit of us, despite our brokenness, this story is for you. Hunter and Alan have walked the hard road of addiction and running from God to now living a life telling people about the goodness of God’s pursuit and healing. Their vulnerability and willingness to be an “open book” in order to help others raise their hands who need help is inspiring and humbling. They challenged me to think about the parts of my life I am not surrendering and the freedom that awaits when we lay it all in front of the Lord time and time again.

59: Love Your Life (Even When You Don’t Like It All The Time) with Rachel Awtrey23 juil. 202500:55:25

Do you ever find yourself going through the motions of life? Like life is happening to you, but if you stop and feel life, you may not make it. Rachel Awtrey has been through her fair share of hard seasons, yet she has found the secret place of joy in those moments that Jesus promises us.

In this week's episode, we talk about some of those hard seasons that led to this book and how she stays rooted in truth no matter what her circumstances say. We talk about God as a God of enjoyment and fun and let's be honest, we all could stand to re-gain a bit of enjoyment and fun in our life.

58: Ladybug at the Well with Reina Cherry09 juil. 202500:56:49

If there is one woman I want to grow up and be like, it's probably Reina Cherry. You may not know her name, but her impact can be felt amongst hundreds of women that she has discipled and cared for over decades of ministry. She makes more disciples than cookies (and she makes a LOT of cookies - shout out Reina Cookies). She is fiercely devoted to a life centered around Christ and inviting other people into that life. And she is absolutely hilarious.

She is the goal and I am honored that I got to share time with her.

57: Beyond Your Circumstances with Jeramiah Bowles25 juin 202501:06:00

Life has dealt Jeramiah a hand he maybe wouldn’t have picked for himself. But, God. Because of His faith in Jesus, Jeramiah has chosen a different path. One of joy and gratitude. One of hard work and generational legacy. His testimony is one of deep struggle and pain, but also one of big redemption, big healing, and big hope.

No matter where you find yourself, no matter the circumstances, God is bigger and we know He’s good. It’s messages like Jeramiah’s that remind us of this vital truth.

56: Your Story Matters with Tori Hein11 juin 202500:54:56

We all have a story. We all have many life experiences, big and small, that make up who we are - the lights and the shadows.

What’s wild is we may not even realize how parts of our story play out in our everyday lives.

This week, I sat down with Tori Hein.  She is a trauma-informed coach with Freedom Movement who wants to see all people walk in freedom through the power of Jesus Christ. She shares her story of hurt and healing and how much more alive she is by not white knuckling life any longer and surrendering it all to Jesus.

Anytime, I talk to Tori or hear her teach, I am encouraged and challenged to keep surrendering, knowing His ways are better.

Also, she’s giving any Neighbors fans $100 (!!) off their course. They also have a free version you can start with to see if it’s for you.

55: Get in the Fight with Mike Dragich28 mai 202500:52:59

This week, I sat down with alligator trapper, marine corps veteran, MMA fighter, and founder of Project Savior Outdoors, Mike Dragich. We talk about how the fight in him turned from vengeance to justice after meeting Jesus. He inspires everyone around him to get in the fight, whatever that looks like for you.

Project Savior Outdoors is a ministry to fight veteran and first responders suicide. We discuss the realities of suicide in those fields and how the hope of Jesus is fighting back the darkest darkness. All while hunting alligators and adventuring in creation.

It’s a good one friends.

54: I Have a Job for You with Chantelle Kammerdiener14 mai 202500:53:29

I want to be Chantelle when I grow up! She is wise, confident, and sharp. AND has a heart that beats for people, particularly survivors of human trafficking. Chantelle led a successful career in business (even working for the horse, Secretariat, more on that in the convo!) and as she encountered the brokenness of human trafficking, she knew she had to join the fight. So with a couple others, she founded Arize Together - a forever community that is breaking the cycle of sexual exploitation.

Hearing her talk so tenderly and proudly about the survivors in their community and why it matters that we care for the broken and the hurt is inspiring. I hope it inspires you to take the step God is calling you to take to walk out what it looks like to love Him and love people well.

Episode 53: The Country Music Missionary with Lou Ramirez30 avr. 202500:49:09

Lou Ramirez is a follower of Jesus and a behind-the-scenes powerhouse in the country music industry. Lou has worked, and currently works, with some of the biggest names in country music. People like Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell, Cody Johnson, Dan + Shay, and more. He has been in the music industry for 20 years and as he has grown in his faith so has his mission to love people and share Jesus with them. Lou is leveraging everything he has to share the gospel in the country music world and to be a light in a place where the things of this world have a strong grip on most. And that is why I have dubbed him the "country music missionary".

Episode 48: Jesus in a Strip Club with Tami Taunton19 févr. 202500:36:40

Yeah, you read that right. Tami Taunton, the founder of Hadassah's Hope, believes that all people should hear the good news of the gospel, and all people includes strippers. Each week, her ministry loves on girls in the clubs, leads bible studies, and even ministers to the bouncers and club owners.

Tami was your classic stay at home mom - loving her husband and raising babies unto the glory of God . Until one day, God blew all of that up and led Tami to start serving a group of people largely looked over or disregarded.

This conversation is inspiring and you may just find yourself bringing Jesus to a strip club near you.

Episode 47: From Prison to Pastor with Walker Day05 févr. 202500:56:33

From addict to jail to homeless to jail again to radically saved to cleaning toilets at the church to pastor, Walker Day’s story is one of darkness to light. His candid and authentic personality paired with his heart for the farthest, most broken people is magnetic. Woven through his story are countless lessons from the Lord and questions we all should wrestle through. This conversation will inspire you to go after whatever little thing God has put in front of you right now and to never miss an opportunity to love those people on the fringes.

Episode 45: Fighting Distraction with Ryan Britt08 janv. 202501:06:38

Today's guest is one of the smartest men in my life. Pastor Ryan Britt is the Executive Pastor of the Church of Eleven22. His giftings in leadership and teaching others how to lead well are a rare gift. We walk through SO many topics from the myth of self love, the Enemy's schemes to distract us from purpose, and how to lead and love well. This episode is so timely for the new year as it will give us handles and riverbanks as we set goals, make changes, etc. in order to stay Christ centered and mission focused.

Episode 36: The Rollercoaster of Obedience with Kyle + Bailey Raab11 sept. 202400:56:50

Kyle and Bailey ooze Jesus from their pores. They both had (have) dreams and callings, but they weren’t totally unified on those callings at the same time. But, God took them on a beautiful journey of surrender and prayer to seek what He was telling them to do. And now it has landed them in South Africa as long term missionaries, working to equip people and spread the gospel. It’s been a rollercoaster of small steps towards obedience, but they are now walking in a freedom and abundance that they never knew possible.

Episode 35: 10 Things I'm Learning04 sept. 202400:45:50

From walking in my why, practicing humility (in both pride and insecurity), and trying to figure out how the heck to be a podcaster, this year has been WILD. We are celebrating one whole year of the Neighbors Podcast and this episode, Ali unpacks 10 learnings from our first year and how it applies to any dream or life experience (not just podcasting).

Mostly, we are just so grateful for YOU. Neighbors is not Neighbors without every listen, view, subscriber, follower, and friend. So thanks for being as much a part of this journey as we are. Here’s to year 2!

Episode 34: From Crack to Christian with Ron Armstrong28 août 202400:46:11

Ron's story is one of redemption in so many ways. From a tough childhood (to say the least) to drug running to being radically saved and changing his life, Ron embodies what it looks like to be on mission everywhere he goes.

Ron is the Founder and Executive Director of Sponsored by Grace, a ministry that exists to empower children and families by sharing the Gospel, connecting them to a local faith family, and meeting their physical needs, along with Grounds of Grace, a local coffee company that serves to support the mission and vision of Sponsored by Grace. In summary, Ron is moving mountains in the city of Jacksonville by walking out what God has called him to do.

Episode 31: A Conversation with my Mom and Dad12 juin 202400:47:18

Season 3 is coming to an end and there felt like no better way to close it out than with this special conversation with my very own parents. Now in their mid 60s, they have raised 3 girls, led amazing careers (paid and unpaid), and now are taking retirement head on as an opportunity to deepen their faith and share it with others. I am inspired by their boldness and encouraged by their reflection on what they did and didn’t do as parents, spouses, friends, and followers of Jesus. I love these two people so deeply and I hope this conversations brightens your day!

Episode 18: Modern Warfare with Steve Biondo14 févr. 202400:48:40

This episode is such an important conversation in 2024! President of the Tim Tebow Foundation, Steve Biondo, and I got to talk about what it means to fight for humans in our day and age. From the critical dangers of pornography to human trafficking to cycles of abuse, he is SO wise on all things human. TTF is fighting for the marginalized, the forgotten, the abused, and the broken. And we should too. There is so much we need to be educated on to advocate for the people that cannot advocate for themselves and Steve helps give handles to why this work matters so much. AND at the end of the day, the Gospel always goes first. It is the light we bring against the darkness. There is no doubt Steve is living out his unique calling. Whether it's presenting to global governments or kicking down doors to rescue the one, he is constantly leaning in to what the Lord has for him here and now.
