Hello, and welcome to Dr. Judy Morgan's Naturally Healthy Pets podcast. I'm really excited to be launching this podcast, because I have a passion to educate and empower pet parents around the world.

You may not have heard of me, you may not be familiar with my background. So let me just give you a little idea about who I am and what I do. I've been a veterinarian for over 38 years. I graduated from a veterinary college in the United States in 1984. I went to a very traditional Midwestern veterinary school, and I learned traditional medicine, but I really wasn't happy with traditional medicine. I was seeing so much chronic disease, so many problems that we just couldn't cure. Using so many medications, and our pets just never seemed to get better. They sort of lingered with a lot of chronic health problems. And that wasn't enjoyable for me. That wasn't what I envisioned when I became a veterinarian.

So along the way, I decided that I would look at other ways to heal my patients. And I started looking at all the different alternative, complementary, holistic, we can label them however we want to, but I looked at a lot of different methods and methodologies for helping my patients. And what I found was that as my toolbox got bigger, my patients got healthier. We weren't just using chronic medications, we weren't having our patients dealing with these chronic inflammatory diseases. We were actually making a difference. Now, that doesn't mean that I throw traditional medicine out the window. I still believe in traditional medicine, and it does have its place. Acute therapies are definitely necessary when we have an acute problem. But for the chronic disease, I truly and firmly believe that holistic medicine has so much more to offer. And when we combine the two, we can get incredible outcomes. So on my journey, in 2013, I, on a whim, wrote my first book, From Needles to Natural: Learning Holistic Pet Healing. And I chronicled my journey of moving from traditional medicine toward more holistic medicine, and really the differences that I was seeing in my patients, and I wanted to give that information to the world. I wanted to empower pet parents to say, Hey, maybe I don't have to immediately jump into these heavy duty medications. Wow, what are the side effects of those medications? What are the side effects of all these vaccinations? Why is my pet constantly developing infections? Parasite infestations? Why am I chronically in the veterinary office, giving more medications to my animal?

So I wrote this book to help pet parents and help them understand that there were alternatives that could be combined or could be used instead. And that we could turn some of this disease problem around by actually encouraging the body to heal itself. Once I started talking to people about my book, and I launched my social media to promote my book and promote what I was learning, because I wanted other people to be able to use this too. I also found that then people wanted to know where could they get the products that I talked about in my book? Where can they find these herbal remedies? Where can they find homeopathic remedies, and that led to starting my company, Naturally Healthy Pets. Naturally Healthy Pets is a resource for pet owners to do research, read blogs, get informed, be educated, and look at products, read about products that are some of them are our brands. Some of them are other companies that we stand by and firmly believe in what they are doing and bringing to the Natural Pet space. That vision has grown into a worldwide platform. That for me, brings me great joy because I am able to help pet parents around the world.

I practiced in veterinary medicine for 36 years, which was great because I could help individual pets. But once I went on a journey to educate more pet parents around the world, I found that I'm able to help so many more. Originally, I set a goal to help change the lives for the better for a million pets worldwide. We far surpassed that goal. The new goal is 10 million pets. We may be there. It's kind of hard to measure, but by having a podcast where people can get information from experts in the Natural Pet space. And having products available that people can use. Having books, having courses, educational materials, we can help so many pet parents. And so we hope that you will also enjoy the journey along with us.

Our first episode will launch on February 7, the episodes will be around 30 minutes, and on each podcast, I will have a guest where I will chat with other experts in the holistic and integrative pet health space on topics that are going to help your pet thrive. We'll be looking at the latest information, latest studies, sourcing for products, how to read labels, how to know what is best for your individual pet.
