That's why this episode is a must-listen for moms who find themselves in the trenches, looking for a strategy to reclaim their space. We address the elephant in the room—our kids and the chaos they bring—alongside the scarcity of time and energy that makes decluttering seem like an insurmountable task. But guess what? Through touching anecdotes, like Olga's ingenious use of mega blocks in a pinch, we celebrate the resourcefulness that blossoms in a decluttered home. This episode isn't about preaching minimalism; it's about empowering you to make room for what truly matters. We're unwrapping the guilt tied to unused possessions and challenging the notion of waste with practical, family-inclusive strategies. If you're ready to transform your home into a serene haven that reflects your family's needs and values, let's embark on this journey together. | The solution to your decision fatigue | 08 Jun 2021 | 00:16:27

Have you ever experienced decision fatigue?
Click here for the full transcription of this episode We can make at most 100 excellent, high level decisions before we begin to max out our brain power. As mothers we simply do not have the time or energy to waste on insignificant decisions. Organization is often sold to us as a solution for our decision fatigue. I am here to bust this myth for you. When you organize the stuff in your home, you are really just making a series of decisions on how to store things. It’s essentially attempting to create a system for your decision making. The problem is that when you organize your clutter you still have the same amount of decisions to make on an every day basis. When you choose to declutter, you make the decision once and are done with it forever. Here are some real life examples of decluttering and decision fatigue. One mom inside of the course I created, Decluttering Simplified said this: “I finally chose to declutter this book, and now I am free. I never have to make a decision on it again.” The book she is referring to was one that she had been trying to read for a year. It sat on her counter, her nightstand and daily she was required to make a decision about it. To read it, or not read it? Bring it up to her bedroom, or not? Spend time with her family, or read her book. She even brought it on a family vacation and made decisions on it while on vacation. What she realized is the book required her to make many decisions almost daily. Never was the decision to actually read, and benefit from the book. The way she explained her decision fatigue was so clear. Here is another example from a mom inside of the group. This mom decluttered a cupcake stand she never used, but made many decisions on before that. The cupcake stand represented the mom she thought she should be. It sat on her counter for a long while until she needed the counter space back. She had to decide where to put it. Which led to a series of decisions made on how to rearrange he pantry so it fit. It fit in there for a while, but was mostly in the way. Which inevitably led to her needing to make another decision on where to keep the cupcake stand. Organize a different cabinet? Declutter some tupperware to make room? Something else? Ultimately, after a long series of decisions about a cupcake stand that was never used she decluttered it.Now, it might not be a cupcake stand for you that is consuming all of your decision power. It can be anything – nail clippers, sunblock, toys, shoes, or a sippy cup for your kids. The point I hope you get from this episode is that your clutter requires, and demands a lot from you. In very seemingly small ways that add up over time. Decluttering is also a series of decisions you need to make. What do you do first, next and last? Where do you take the items? Should you sell them? For how much? When should you declutter? Do you include the kids, and how? You can experience decision fatigue in decluttering as well, so the less things you need to figure out yourself the more time and energy you have to spend actually decluttering. Which is exactly what I offer inside of Decluttering Simplified. Not only do you have the full step by step plan available to you, but you also have accountability and support in implementing the content.

| When you've decluttered and still aren't happy | 13 Apr 2021 | 00:33:26 | |
Enroll in Motherhood Simplified This the ACTUAL end result of decluttering, spoiler alert. It isn't just a clean house. It's the ability to actually see your life for what it is, and what is/is not working. It's basically standing there as a naked and exposed version of yourself. I don't lead with this because honestly, it's not the sexy microwaveable answer people want. There is a lot of truth in how your internal world mirrors your external world. Whether its falsely curated, or a total mess or something in between. Ways it does not make you happy 1. It doesn’t erase your past experiences and traumas 2. It doesn’t change your belief systems about yourself and your life 3. It doesn’t nurture relationships Ways Decluttering makes you happy: 1. It gives you relief 2. It makes your days easier 3. It gives you a sense of accomplishment and pride in your home 4. It gives you time and energy for relationships 5. It eliminates a lot of the things that lead us to perpetually judge and shame ourselves 6. It breathes life into us It's stepping into a new normal. One where you have space, energy and clarity. Boundaries. Tolerance for only what serves you It's being able to see the ROOT issues of your life and then address them. After you've decluttered is when the real work begins. Not to say decluttering isn't work, its about establishing boundaries to protect what you do want. The example of me absolutely freaking out over something I had put boundaries up and then fetl like they were being violated and I absolutely was sent into a tail sping because I didn't want to go back to my old way of being. In the same way we freak out when we've decluttered and family/friends go over board with gifts and hand me downs. You will get to a new normal where you aren't freaked out by being derailed any more. So yes, we talk about decluttering and all the work that goes into it but we can't expect it to make us happy. Happiness isn't an end result or something that just comes once we've gotten rid of enough stuff. It happens when we decide to intentionally and always only keep things that align with our happiness. ________ 4:10 - Krista's real life story - from 2 house full of stuff to 1 suitcase per person 5:53 - learning to sit with yourself 6:42 - declutting takes your from bogged down to freedom and brings clarity and space. 7:15 - declutting gives you space in more places than just your physical space. 9:05 - 2 reasons why you still feel dissatisfied after declutter 11:27 - 3 ways that decluttering doesn't make you happy. 13:50 - 6 ways that declutter does make you happy 17:57: - podcast link for clutter shame spiral 23:20 - come join the fb group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/2010014145929427/ ) 24:58 - you have to put some effort in 25:27 - one week challenge in the motherhood simplified facebook group in May called "Release your clutter like a powerful mother." 26:47 - leave a positive review on iTunes. | 3 reasons you feel like you aren't making progress with your decluttering | 07 Apr 2021 | 00:26:47
Enroll in Decluttering Simplified Do you ever feel like no matter how much you declutter, it never seems to make a dent? Here's why - it's could be one, two or a combination of these things. Or maybe none apply. 1. You have a skewed experience of accumulating versus decluttering. You have been accumulating in the form of shopping, holidays, birthdays, hand me downs, thrift stores, Amazon for YEARS. Maybe even decades. If you're like me you never really knew that intentionally letting stuff go was a part of managing a home. Logistically it makes sense but it's just not always something we think about. It takes time to recalibrate this. 2. You don't realize how much you are still consuming so when you do declutter, it's almost immediately RE-cluttered. THink about when you go shopping or get things delivered and how much is coming in versus how much you actively let go. It's similar to the first point above, but a more immediate and daily experience of what you accumulate versus what you declutter 3. You haven't reached your personal clutter threshold yet. We all have one, some are bigger, some are smaller. It also changes based on the season of life we are in. But if you've decluttered a lot and have not RE-cluttered, this is likely where you are getting hung up. 4. You haven't put the finishing touches on your decluttering yet. I'm talking about organization. Yes, it's an essentail piece of the decluttering puzzle but it's the LAST piece. Most of us try to lead with this. However, if you have decluttered enough and really don't think there is anything left you might just need to create systems and a flow around the stuff you have left. The way you know have reached this point is by having all of the stuff you own comfortably fit in the spaces you have. I'll give you an example with the toys. Notes: 1:55 - Krista starts off with a question 2:36 - 1st reason you feel that way 5:57 - 2nd reason 6:35 - revolving door of clutter 8:55 - 3rd and final reason 9:27 - talking about thresholds 13:23 - personal toy story 18:27 - letting your house breathe 18:50 - join us in Motherhood Simplified (the group) https://www.facebook.com/groups/2010014145929427/ On Instagram https://instagram.com/motherhood_simplified?igshid=d6nkja64ingw 18:59 - I have a gift for you if you listen on itunes and leave a positive review.
