He is a former elected official that served on the Southampton County Board of Supervisor. He also served on the Virginia Association of Counties Transportation Steering Committee and the Advisory Council to the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia – the Honorable Bill Bolling. Chief Red Hawk also serves on the Virginia Indian Advisory Board (VIAB) and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Board (BCR). He is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion and Disable Veterans (DAV). Chief Brown also served on the Executive Board for the STOP Program of the Western Tidewater Senior Services Program. Chief Brown holds a Bachelor of Science, B.S., in Social Science and a Masters of Science Degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College.
