Today my special guest is the mom of Ibrahim Hamed and her name is Yasmeen. They are constantly going viral on Tik tok and Instagram for showing the day to day life of her family and son who is now an adult living with Autism and Cerebral Palsy. We sit down for a candid discussion that is sure to encourage parents raising children with special needs.  

Today on the show, I interview child actress turned politician Trenee' McGee. As a child she was an actress and model, working for the likes of Target, Nick Jr.,Sesame Street and the list goes on. She is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College. Today her role is councilwoman, 7th district- West Haven Connecticut. I especially enjoyed listening to her story because it was one of such strong pursuit of Destiny! She has knocked down barriers and is the youngest person to ever hold her title in West Haven Connecticut. A role that she herself wasn't even trying to achieve but one that God pushed her into. Listen in!!!

This is a mini episode. As we are all home during covid 19 I wanted to check in and give encouragement on how to stay productive.

This week we close out our series “Chasing Destiny”. We’ve dedicated weeks to this and now I feel like we have a lot of ammunition to work with.

Don’t count yourself out when you get a “Big” vision from God. Do you have dreams that you think are too large for you to achieve? Well if God gave you that dream, it means he’s going to give you the drive to achieve it. Don’t focus on the bigger picture but focus on the little steps that will get you to the bigger picture. Give it all you’ve got!

Today I'm sitting down to chat with the founder of non profit organization Hearts of Joy International. Hearts of Joy is a non profit that  provides life saving heart surgery to individuals with Down Syndrome. They are dedicated to serving vulnerable children who otherwise would have no access to quality medical care. 50% of children born with Down Syndrome are born with a congenital heart defect that requires surgery to repair before it becomes life threatening. Due to poverty and lack of resources in developing worlds, children are not given access to proper medical care. After traveling to Uganda, East Africa and seeing the need first hand and witnessing how individuals with Down syndrome are disregarded and seen as a burden to society, Lauren was inspired to start a program to help. Hearts of Joy International walks with families through the surgery process, providing resources, support and education to communities, orphanages, caregivers and parents on the inherent dignity and value of the child. Hearts of Joy International serves in the Philippines, India, Mexico, Uganda and right here in the United States.

We can go through a lot of things in life that will try to weigh us down. Bills, bills, children, relationships, health issues, depression, low self-esteem and the way we view ourselves, not feeling powerful enough to accomplish and the list goes on.

The biggest steps that we will ever make in our lives require us to solely rely on God. It requires Faith! Fear will hold us back from reaching our greatest potential.

Hey Guys! 

It was really on my heart to encourage you while you are in the middle of waiting. While we are waiting for our prayers to be answered by God,its hard not to let doubt kick in. 

God is not a figment of our imagination. He is real and alive and desires for us to come into relationship with him, Trusting him in all things. 

 

Scripture references for this episode:

Isaiah 40:31-But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
