Se trata de una colección de temas grabados por la Orquesta Filarmónica de la BBC con dirección de Rumon Gamba, junto a una atmósfera electrónica, discursos recitados y temas de piano que dan como resultado una música minimalista, próxima a las obras de Philip Glass y a las de Wojcieh Kilar. En palabras del propio Richter, "Memoryhouse" cuenta « una historia sobre dónde hemos estado, y plantea la pregunta "¿A dónde vamos?». La Sinfonía nº 1 ("Low Symphony") fue compuesta en la primavera de 1992, estando basada en el álbum "Low" de David Bowie. Se estrenó en Munich el 30 de agosto de 1992, interpretada por la Junge Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie dirigida por Dennis Russell Davies. Glass creó la obra con la colaboración de Bowie y de Brian Eno. Del extraordinario programa de RNE Radio Clásica "Música y significado", antes llamado "El diván y la cábala", se trae aquí la Tercera Sinfonía del compositor polaco Henryk Górecki en el análisis que se hiciera con fecha 17 de junio de 2012 por Luis Ángel de Benito. Y es que los caminos, los afluentes del minimalismo son varios y variados.

Primera ópera minimalista (1973) que supone un hito no sólo por ello sino también por haber constituido el primer jalón exitoso en la carrera de Philip Glass, aquí en coautoría con Robert Wilson. Con ciertos antecedentes no obstante, el miminalismo musical encuentra en "In C" del norteamericano y excéntrico Terry Riley su hito fundacional, en la opinión de los más acreditados expertos, y ello sin ser en la tendencia a su través fundada uno de los compositores más seguidos. Aquí se reproduce en su grabación integra de 1968, aunque la pieza data exactamente de 1964.

La sesion nº 41 de los Proms 2017 incluyó la primera representación en directo (la "world premiere") de la excepcional obra en conjunto de Philip Glass y Ravi Shankar, "Passages", interpretada por la hija de éste, Anoushka y su grupo, junto con la Britten Sinfonia dirigida por Karen Kamensek. El disco "Passages", que viera la luz en 1990, se divide exactamente en seis extraordinarios episodios: - "Offering" (Shankar) - "Sadhanipa" (Glass) - "Channels and Winds" (Glass) - "Ragas in Minor Scale" (Glass) - "Meetings Along the Edge" (Shankar) - "Prashanti" (Shankar) Pese a esa autoría particular que se señalara en el mismo album, ambos autores introdujeron en cada composición elementos musicales del otro horizonte, haciendo de la obra un verdadero hito de la música contemporánea. Así, los puristas podrían decir que habría más de colaboración que de fusión, pero ello sería despreciar el valor de toda la obra en su conjunto, amén de entender por fusión una mera mescolanza cuando el concepto es mucho más complejo. ¿Cómo se explicaría el sentido de la primera pieza, "Offering", atribuida "formalmente" a Shankar, frente a los dos inmediatas siguientes, "compuestas", desde la más pura tradición y experiencia musical hindú, por Glass? No habría manera. La obra, con sus seis pasajes, justo título por eso para ella, constituiría un todo unitario y es así que se publicara en origen y hoy podemos comprobar en esta su primera y fidelísima representación.
