| History Lesson: The Legend of Bo Whoop | 20 Oct 2026 | 00:18:36 | |
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys dive into the story of one of the most famous shotguns in duck hunting history: Nash Buckingham’s legendary Bo Whoop. Buckingham was one of the biggest names in early American waterfowl culture, known for his outdoor writing, flooded timber hunts, and incredible reputation as a wingshooter. His custom A.H. Fox double gun became almost as famous as he was, thanks to its tight patterns, distinctive sound, and the stories Nash told about hunting with it. The story takes a turn in 1948 when Nash accidentally left Bo Whoop sitting on the fender of a car after a duck hunt in Arkansas. By the time he returned, the gun was gone and it stayed missing for decades. More than 50 years later, an old broken-stock shotgun brought into a gunsmith’s shop turned out to have inscriptions tying it back to Buckingham. The guys break down how the gun was authenticated, the serial number mystery, and how a shotgun once bought for $50 eventually sold at auction for more than $200,000. Bo Whoop’s story eventually came full circle when it was donated to Ducks Unlimited and even returned to the marsh for another hunt decades after Nash lost it. It’s part mystery, part duck hunting history, and a great example of how certain guns, dogs, places, and stories become bigger than the hunts themselves. | Sports Guyz Only; Kick The Ball | 16 Oct 2026 | 01:04:57
This week on Sports Guyz Only... Nathaniel manages to cancel after the podcast has essentially already started, the fantasy football trash talk is getting increasingly personal, and Cal is already questioning whether half his roster belongs in the garbage disposal. Somehow, that's only the warmup. The Vikings are 5-0, Brian Flores might deserve every dollar Minnesota can find, and the guys are starting to wonder just how far this defense can carry the team. There's more Justin Herbert trade talk, another Brian O'Neill appearance, and a debate over whether NFL teams should start paying elite coordinators like head coaches just to keep them in the building. Then comes one of the strangest NFL endings of the season. The guys break down Washington getting into field-goal range against the Giants with a chance to win, only for the clock to expire without a kick ever happening. Carter initially puts Dan Quinn on the hot seat, Gavin digs into the actual play design, and the blame slowly shifts toward Jayden Daniels for turning what should have been a simple finish into complete chaos. From there, it's a wider look around the NFL. Josh Allen and the Bills' wild game against the Rams leads to a conversation about knowing when to kill a play, while Matthew Stafford gets plenty of love for being one of the best late-game quarterbacks of his generation. The guys also build their early NFL power rankings, debate whether San Francisco belongs at No. 1, and try to figure out which teams actually look like Super Bowl contenders. Plus: •Shohei Ohtani's playoff slump •Fantasy football waiver-wire victory laps •The fragile life of an NFL kicker •Another full week of NFL picks and underdog locks •Timberwolves championship optimism •Whether active NFL players need podcast supervision It's bad clock management, NFL power rankings, fantasy football grudges, and enough questionable coaching ideas to fill an entire staff. | What Really Happened on Duck Opener? | 15 Oct 2026 | 00:45:57
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the guys address the controversy surrounding their Minnesota duck opener and add some context to what actually happened that morning. After getting permission to hunt a private property, Cal and Joey arrived to find another group already set up on the water. They walk through the conversations with the landowners, the questions surrounding access and riparian rights, their attempt to work together with the other hunters, and why the situation became much more complicated once clips from the encounter started making the rounds online. The goal isn't to pile on anybody or restart the argument. The guys explain what they could have handled differently, why they eventually moved farther away, and why they'd rather see more young hunters passionate about waterfowl than turn the entire situation into an online feud. They also recap a tough goose hunt with two Flyways Hunt Club members, talk about a frustrating start to the season, and why a few bad hunts aren't enough to change how they feel about duck hunting. Topics Covered: •The duck opener controversy •Private property and water access •Riparian rights questions •A tough weekend of goose hunting •Flyways Hunt Club giveaway hunt •Staying positive through a slow start Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Jordan Fromer; Learning Duck Hunting the Hard Way | 12 Oct 2026 | 01:05:16
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the guys sit down with Jordan Fromer from Duck Gun Chronicles and Duck Gun Wild Seasonings to talk duck hunting, content creation, wild food, and one of the craziest boat projects we've heard about. Jordan shares how he taught himself to duck hunt and went 11 hunts before finally killing his first duck. From there, he built Duck Gun Chronicles, started a podcast, and eventually turned his passion for cooking wild game into Duck Gun Wild Seasonings. The guys also get into the Timber Queen, Jordan's 43-foot wooden boat that he bought for $1 and rebuilt to follow the migration down the Mississippi River. They talk repairs, breakdowns, storms, losing a prop in the river, and why the entire project was worth it despite everything that went wrong. The conversation wraps with duck and goose recipes, hunting etiquette, helping new hunters, and why keeping waterfowl hunting fun matters more than chasing limits. Topics Covered: •Learning to duck hunt from scratch •Duck Gun Chronicles •The Timber Queen •Cooking duck and goose •Helping new hunters •Keeping hunting fun Check out Jordan Fromer and Duck Gun: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/duckgunchronicles Duck Gun Wild Seasonings: https://duckgunwildseasonings.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/duckgunchronicles/

| Sports Guyz Only; Cal Goes Nuclear | 09 Oct 2026 | 01:02:30 | |
This week on Sports Guyz Only... The whole crew is finally back in studio, there's a birthday to celebrate, and everyone spends about 45 seconds being nice before the Vikings completely destroy the mood. Minnesota is somehow 4-0 despite having one of the lowest-scoring undefeated starts in NFL history, which naturally leads to the question every Vikings fan is already asking: how fraudulent is this team actually? Then Cal gets presented with Brian O'Neill's latest grades, and things deteriorate quickly. Despite the numbers saying Minnesota's right tackle is playing great football, Cal has seen enough. What follows is a full offensive-line crashout about sacks, missed blocks, PFF grades, Cris Collinsworth, and the apparently unreasonable request that a 6'7" NFL tackle simply block the one guy standing in front of him without falling down. The guys debate whether the Vikings' dominant defense can keep carrying an offense that still can't protect the quarterback and make predictions for where a 4-0 Minnesota team actually finishes this season. Around the rest of the NFL, Bryce Young's resurgence sparks a bigger conversation about how quickly fans and media give up on young quarterbacks. Josh Allen's rough rookie season gets brought back up, and Brock Purdy's ridiculous start forces a few people in the room to officially admit they were wrong. There's also another round of NFL picks and underdog locks, including the struggling Eagles, the surprisingly dangerous Panthers, Buffalo's receiver problem, and plenty of disagreement over which early-season records are actually real. Plus: •Cris Collinsworth and the war against player grades •Vikings season-record predictions •Bryce Young proving people wrong •The Bills desperately needing a real WR1 •Timberwolves championship optimism •Joey Chestnut somehow eating 16 pounds of baked beans It's Vikings rage, NFL overreactions, fantasy football arguments, and one of the most passionate explanations of offensive line play you'll ever hear. | Alex Langbell; Dogs, Ducks & Doing It Right | 08 Oct 2026 | 01:03:31
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Alex Langbell from Gundog Outdoors is back in the Game Fair studio for a wide-ranging conversation about hunting dogs, waterfowl hunting, building better products, and everything he's learned after more than 40 years chasing birds. Alex talks about the growth of Gundog Outdoors and why he built the company around keeping hunting and working dogs safer in the field. He gets into new products, bringing more manufacturing back to the United States, and how years of hunting and his background as a firefighter continue to shape the gear he develops. The guys also get into Alex's Montana property and the work he's doing to turn it into a better waterfowl property, including building a pond, planting food, managing water levels, and creating habitat that ducks actually want to use. That leads into plenty of duck hunting talk, from 28 gauges and .410s to small decoy spreads, river hunting, motion, and why sometimes doing the opposite of everyone else is exactly what pressured birds need. The conversation also turns toward the culture around waterfowl hunting and how social media has changed it. Alex and the guys talk about competition, negativity online, why newer hunters can feel intimidated, and why the best hunters are usually the ones who can still enjoy a bad day instead of measuring every hunt by the size of the pile. Toward the end, things get more personal as Alex talks about raising his daughter Sierra around hunting, making the outdoors fun for kids without forcing it, and why those early experiences can stick with them for life. The guys also share how hunting gave them direction during different points in their lives and why being outside became something much bigger than simply shooting ducks. Topics Covered: •Keeping hunting dogs safe •New dog gear and products •Building waterfowl habitat •Sub-gauge duck hunting •River hunting strategies •Waterfowl hunting culture •Social media negativity •Enjoying hunts without chasing limit •Raising kids around hunting Check out Alex Langbell and Gundog Outdoors: https://gundogoutdoors.com/ https://www.instagram.com/alex_langbell_outdoors/ Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | The Ducks Are Acting Weird | 02 Oct 2026 | 00:48:51
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the guys are trying to figure out where the ducks went and whether some seriously strange weather is about to shake up the migration. After duck opener, Joey, Cal, and Carter compare what they've been seeing around Minnesota. Some areas that normally hold plenty of birds have been surprisingly empty, while reports from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta sound like hunters are still seeing plenty of ducks farther north. At the same time, geese are starting to show up in bigger numbers around the metro, leaving the guys wondering when the next real push is coming. That leads into a long conversation about rain, flooded corn, winter weather, snow, and how unusual conditions could affect duck and goose hunting throughout the Midwest. The guys also revisit the duck population surveys and compare those numbers with what they've actually been seeing in the field so far this season. They also talk about why a real winter would be such a welcome change, especially when it comes to pushing fresh birds down the flyway and creating some of those classic late-season duck and goose hunts in the snow. To finish things off, Carter puts Joey and Cal through another round of Say What?! Topics Covered: •Where the ducks went after opener •Reports from Canada •Weather and duck migration •Snow and late-season hunting •Say What?! waterfowl trivia Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Sports Guyz Only; Sell the Farm | 02 Oct 2026 | 01:01:12
This week on Sports Guyz Only... Cal is calling in sick from the corner of his bedroom, Carter is extra crabby after another week of fantasy football abuse, and the guys waste no time revisiting some truly terrible roster decisions. Between insulting trade offers, injured players, and everyone finding a draft pick they'd like back, the fantasy league is already providing exactly the level of dysfunction everyone expected. Then the conversation turns to the Vikings and a much bigger question: if Justin Herbert is actually available, do you sell the farm to get him? With the Chargers offense struggling and Herbert looking like he could use a fresh start, the guys debate whether Minnesota should throw three first-round picks or even more at the Chargers and finally take a massive swing at quarterback. They compare Herbert to Kyler Murray, question how much patience the Vikings should have with their current situation, and ask whether a roster with this defense is simply too good to waste waiting for average quarterback play. That opens up an even bigger conversation about team building. Are first-round picks overrated when you're already close to competing? Should the Vikings copy the Rams and trade future assets for proven stars? And if Minnesota is sitting near the top of the NFC with a Super Bowl-caliber defense, how aggressive should they be about fixing the few positions still holding them back? The guys also run through another week of NFL picks and underdog locks, debate whether Case Keenum should keep starting in Chicago, react to the Chargers' brutal start, and continue trying to figure out which NFL teams are actually good after the first few weeks of the season. Plus: •Carter's latest questionable fantasy trade offers •The Vikings' offensive line problems •Kyler Murray vs. J.J. McCarthy •Marvin Harrison Jr. as a potential Vikings trade target •The NFL admitting it blew a Rams call •Scottie Scheffler's classy Presidents Cup moment •Playoff baseball heating up •Another week of fantasy football regret It's Vikings trade-machine madness, fantasy football slander, NFL overreactions, and one simple solution to every problem: trade the picks and go get somebody good. | Sam Soholt; Protecting a Life Outdoors Pt. 2 | 28 Sep 2026 | 01:10:37
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Sam Soholt is back for Part 2 of the conversation, and this time the focus turns heavily toward conservation, habitat, and what hunters can do to protect the places and wildlife they care about. Sam and the guys talk about how your perspective changes the longer you hunt. At some point, it becomes about more than shooting ducks, you start thinking about where those birds come from, the habitat they need, and what needs to happen to make sure the next generation still has the same opportunities. The conversation gets into wetland loss, drain tile, changing agricultural practices, conservation organizations, Duck Stamp dollars, and why habitat remains at the center of so many wildlife issues. Sam also explains why wetlands matter far beyond waterfowl, from water quality and flood control to the hundreds of species that depend on them. They also talk about putting conservation dollars directly toward specific projects, getting involved locally, and Sam's Duck Ruck including what it was like walking 100 miles in three days and eventually knocking out 50 miles in a single day to raise money for conservation. Toward the end, things get more personal as Sam talks about becoming a dad, wanting his kids to experience the same outdoor life he grew up with, and why preserving those opportunities matters even more now. The guys also look at how duck hunting changes as you get older, from chasing limits to appreciating the entire experience and finding just as much enjoyment in passing it on to someone else. Topics Covered: •Hunters and conservation •Protecting waterfowl habitat •Wetland loss and drain tile •Duck Stamps and where the money goes •The 100-mile Duck Ruck •Passing hunting on to the next generation Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Sam Soholt; Chasing a Life Outdoors Pt. 1 | 24 Sep 2026 | 01:18:10
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the guys sit down with photographer, filmmaker, conservationist, and lifelong hunter Sam Soholt. Sam takes the guys through how he actually broke into the outdoor industry, from filming hunts and taking whatever opportunities he could find to eventually turning outdoor photography and filmmaking into a career. They talk about rejection, grinding when nobody knows who you are, and why simply showing up over and over again can eventually open some pretty crazy doors. And in Sam's case, some of those doors led to filming from helicopters, working on television productions, spending time on Kodiak Island, and ending up in situations where he wasn't entirely convinced he was making it home. The conversation also gets into duck hunting versus big game, some unforgettable hunting stories, and what eventually pushed Sam toward doing more of his own work instead of always working for someone else. Toward the end, the guys get into the beginnings of Sam's public land work, including the ideas that eventually became Public Land Tees, the Public Land Bus, Stamp It Forward, and some of the conservation projects he's become known for. Topics Covered: •Sam Soholt's path into the outdoor industry •Getting your foot in the door •Dealing with rejection •Public Land Tees •The Public Land Bus •Stamp It Forward •Waterfowl conservation and public lands Part 2 with Sam Soholt continues next week. | History Lesson: The Reelfoot Night Riders | 22 Sep 2026 | 00:20:50
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys continue the story of Reelfoot Lake with Part 2, diving into the violent conflict that erupted over who actually had the right to control the lake. After the earthquakes of 1811 and 1812 transformed dry land into water, generations of local families came to rely on Reelfoot for fishing, hunting, and travel. But when private land claims began colliding with those long-standing public uses, the dispute quickly became much more than a legal argument. The episode gets into the rise of the Night Riders, a masked group that used intimidation and violence as the fight over Reelfoot intensified. The conflict ultimately led to the kidnapping of two men, the killing of Quentin Rankin, a major Tennessee National Guard response, mass arrests, death sentences, and eventually a Tennessee Supreme Court ruling over the lake’s legal status. Along the way, the guys mix the history with plenty of side conversations and joking around, from movie references to earthquakes, ancient seismic detectors, and the strange natural disasters that have shaped different parts of the country. What started as a fight over fishing rights became one of the strangest chapters in American outdoor history. In the end, the courts determined that Reelfoot Lake would be held for public use, helping preserve the same legendary waterfowl destination hunters still recognize today. | Nick Johnson; The Traveling Waterfowler | 21 Sep 2026 | 01:01:11
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Nick Johnson is back for his annual visit to talk waterfowl hunting, traveling the world, and some of the weird stuff he’s tried along the way. Nick and the guys get into everything from old-school duck hunters and spring goose hunting on James Bay to chasing waterfowl in Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Europe, and beyond. They talk about the places Nick has already hunted, the trips still on his list, and why some of the most interesting waterfowl hunting in the world happens far outside the places most hunters ever think about. The conversation also gets into changing hunting regulations in Canada, freelance hunting versus outfitters, and whether the giant pile pictures coming out of Canada and Mexico actually have as much impact on duck populations as people think. Nick breaks down why hunter numbers matter and what he believes really determines whether a hunt is going to be great or miserable: weather, juvenile birds, and how hungry the birds are. Nick also talks about turning Wingshoot Wisconsin into a full-time career, what guiding has taught him about bad hunts, and why keeping the right attitude matters when the birds don’t cooperate. And because it wouldn’t be a Nick Johnson episode without trying something ridiculous, the guys finish with live pigeon decoys, baiting pigeons, hawk attacks, and a few experiments that definitely sounded better on paper. Topics Covered: •Waterfowl hunting around the world •James Bay spring goose hunting •Changes to Canadian hunting regulations •Freelance hunting vs. outfitters •Weather, juvenile birds, and hungry birds •Building Wingshoot Wisconsin •Hunting experiments Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Sports Guyz Only; Week One Overreactions | 18 Sep 2026 | 00:58:01
This week on Sports Guyz Only... Nathaniel is out, Carter's fantasy roster is already under investigation, and the first week of football has given the guys plenty of evidence to determine who does and definitely does not know ball. The Vikings lead things off after a rough opening performance from Kyler Murray that immediately has the guys concerned. The guys break down his bizarre first play, the hits he took, Minnesota's struggling offensive line, and whether the Vikings have another long season of quarterback and protection problems ahead of them. There are at least a few positives, though, with Christian Darrisaw looking like himself again and Justin Jefferson still doing Justin Jefferson things. From there, it's a full NFL Week 1 reaction. Bo Nix disappoints, Baker Mayfield somehow helps put up points despite an ugly performance, the Browns continue finding new ways to make their fans miserable, and the guys start reevaluating a few preseason takes. Carter's fantasy team gets picked apart, Gavin's Josh Allen reach suddenly looks a little smarter, and the early standings provide just enough evidence for Cal and Gavin to declare themselves the side of the studio that actually knows ball. The guys also look ahead to Week 2 with another round of picks and underdog locks. Plus, Caleb Williams' strong start sparks a surprisingly legitimate question: could he eventually become the greatest quarterback in Bears history? Plus: •Christian McCaffrey's latest fantasy concerns •The Browns' unbelievable opening-day record •Lane Kiffin mind games before LSU–Ole Miss •The Packers' recent collapse •Caleb Williams vs. the history of Bears quarterbacks It's Week 1 overreactions, fantasy football victory laps, Vikings frustration, and a whole lot of arguing over who actually knows what they're talking about. | Goose Opener Was Rough | 17 Sep 2026 | 00:51:15
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the guys recap a rough Minnesota goose opener and try to make sense of where the birds went. A lot of the geese that had been around for weeks seemed to disappear right before opener, teal reports were all over the place, and plenty of hunters around the state struggled to put together much of a shoot. Cal and Joey talk through their own opener experiences, hunting with the kids, and why early-season birds can change everything in a matter of days. From there, the conversation turns to the conditions heading into duck season. Water is extremely low in parts of Minnesota, some traditional areas are drying up, and the guys compare what they're seeing in the field to the latest waterfowl population numbers. Mallards are reportedly down, while several other species are up, but the amount of ducks they've seen this summer has them questioning whether the current counts are telling the whole story. They talk about survey routes, changing habitat, where birds may be moving, and whether collecting more data could give hunters a better picture of what is actually happening. The guys also get into band superstition, grouse hunting, early-season scouting, and plenty of the usual side conversations along the way. Topics Covered: •Minnesota goose opener •Early teal reports •Taking kids hunting •Low water across Minnesota •Band superstition •Getting ready for duck opener Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | History Lesson: How Reelfoot Lake Was Born | 15 Sep 2026 | 00:13:38
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys kick off Part 1 of the story of Reelfoot Lake, one of the most legendary places in American waterfowl hunting history. Before the duck calls, cypress trees, and famous hunting culture, there wasn’t really a lake at all. That changed during the massive New Madrid earthquakes of 1811 and 1812, when the ground shifted dramatically, drainage patterns changed, and water flooded into the newly lowered landscape. The guys break down just how violent those earthquakes were, including eyewitness accounts of the Mississippi River temporarily appearing to run backward and sections of land dropping by several feet. From there, they look at how the new lake slowly developed into a waterfowl destination, eventually becoming known for huge numbers of ducks, unique hunting traditions, and its role in the early development of duck calling. As usual, the history lesson comes with plenty of side conversations—from trains and earthquakes to infrastructure, old American cities, and just how strange it would be to watch an entirely new lake form in real time. This is only the beginning of the Reelfoot story. Part 2 continues next week, when the guys get into the Night Riders and the violent fight that erupted over who actually controlled the lake. | Sports Guyz Only; Gambling Ruins Sports | 11 Sep 2026 | 01:07:38
This week on Sports Guyz Only... Everybody is back in the studio, and it takes roughly a minute for Michigan football to send the show completely off the rails. After Western Michigan nearly pulls off the upset, the guys break down the controversial ending, Michigan celebrating a win that came down to a questionable clock decision, and whether Bryce Underwood could already be playing for his job. That quickly turns into a much bigger argument: has sports gambling gone too far? Cal makes the case that betting has become so intertwined with sports that it's starting to affect the integrity of the games themselves, while Gavin argues that gambling has been part of sports forever and isn't going anywhere. From DraftKings and player props to point shaving, questionable officiating, and whether making gambling illegal would actually change anything, the debate stretches well beyond one college football game. The guys also look around the opening weeks of college football, including Notre Dame's strong start, Clemson's struggles, and whether Dabo Swinney's approach can survive in the NIL era. With college rosters now costing tens of millions of dollars, they debate how quickly the sport has changed and whether coaches either need to adapt or get left behind. Then Cal tells the story of getting thrown into a high school football game against future NFL defensive lineman Beau Allen, which mostly involved accepting that blocking him normally wasn't an option. Somehow that leads to 700-pound squats, Jason Kelce stories, and another reminder that some athletes are simply built differently. Plus: •Remembering Barry Melrose and his impact on hockey •Early college football championship contenders •LSU's roster spending and the new NIL arms race •Weekly NFL picks and underdog locks •J.J. McCarthy vs. Caleb Williams in hindsight •Another Brian O'Neill crashout It's college football controversy, gambling arguments, NFL picks, questionable statistics, and enough side stories to make sure nobody stays on topic for very long. | Do We Really Have Fewer Ducks? | 10 Sep 2026 | 00:44:23
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Joey is running the show without Cal and diving into the newly released waterfowl population numbers and he has a lot of questions. Mallards are reportedly down, several other puddle duck species dropped, and the overall numbers aren't exactly what Joey expected after seeing what looks like an incredible hatch around Minnesota this summer. He and Carter talk through how the surveys are conducted, whether changing water conditions could be pushing ducks outside traditional survey areas, and why the numbers don't always seem to line up with what hunters are seeing on the ground. The conversation also gets into some of the criticism Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have been getting online. Joey pushes back on blaming conservation organizations for the survey numbers and talks about why he'd like to see more research and additional survey areas before everyone starts jumping to conclusions. Before all of that, Joey recaps Wisconsin goose opener and taking his two-and-a-half-year-old son into the blind. No geese for Joey, but plenty of frogs, snakes, donuts, and a pretty memorable first hunting experience. The guys also talk Minnesota opener, scouting resident geese, teal, dry conditions, wood ducks, and why this year's duck season could still be a very interesting one. Topics Covered: •Taking a two-year-old goose hunting •Wisconsin goose opener •Getting kids into hunting •Minnesota early goose season •The latest waterfowl population numbers •Reported declines in mallards •Getting ready for duck season Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Early Season Goose Hunting Tips | 08 Sep 2026 | 00:09:15
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, Joey breaks down some of his go-to strategies for early season goose hunting. With seasons opening across Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota, the focus is on keeping things simple: smaller decoy spreads, good scouting, realistic family groups, and making sure your hide is right before worrying about everything else. Joey explains why he typically starts the season with just two to three dozen silhouettes spread out in loose family groups, rather than throwing a massive spread at local birds that haven’t seen much pressure yet. He also gets into when he starts adding more decoys, how molt migrators can completely change the setup, why early season calling should usually stay simple, and why watching how real geese behave in the field is more valuable than following a rigid spread formula. There’s also plenty of discussion about layout blinds, A-frames, silage fields, grass hides, and why early season goose hunting can be frustrating when hot weather keeps birds from moving. If you’re getting ready for goose opener or trying to improve your early season Canada goose hunting, this episode is a straightforward look at scouting, decoys, calling, concealment, and knowing when not to throw the kitchen sink at the birds. | John Walls; Champion of Champions | 07 Sep 2026 | 01:00:50
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the crew sits down with three-time World Goose Calling Champion and Champion of Champions John Walls at Game Fair. John talks about getting into contest calling nearly 20 years ago, finishing second at Worlds over and over again, and eventually breaking through to win three straight World Goose Calling Championships before taking home Champion of Champions. The guys get into what finally changed, how much John actually practices these days, and some of the ridiculous callers he's competed against along the way. From there, they get deep into goose calling. John talks about the sounds he still can't quite figure out, his favorite calls to use on hunting birds, reading geese, knowing when to back off, and why sometimes the best thing you can do is put the call down and let the birds work. John also shares stories from his time working for Fred Zink, tuning goose calls all day, learning from some of the best callers and hunters in the industry, and an unbelievable September hunt in New York where thousands of migrating Canada geese poured across the border. The guys also talk bands, including John finding a goose band sitting in the bottom of a stream, losing entire lanyards, his most meaningful band, hunting the Eastern Shore, and everything he's learned chasing waterfowl around the country. Topics Covered: •John's three straight World Goose Calling Championships •Winning Champion of Champions •Nearly 20 years of contest calling •Reading birds and knowing when to call •John's most meaningful goose band •Eastern Shore goose hunting •An insane September Canada goose migration in New York Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Ducks Rode the Railroad Pt. 2 | 03 Sep 2026 | 00:16:59
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the crew picks up Part 2 of the history of duck hunting by train, continuing Tuesday’s story of how railroads helped transform waterfowl hunting across Minnesota and the Dakotas. The guys dive into railroad tycoon James J. Hill and his son Louis, who took train-based duck hunting to another level with private railcars outfitted specifically for hunting. At Lake Christina, trains reportedly even blew their whistles along the shoreline to flush massive groups of ducks and create shooting opportunities for hunters. But this wasn’t just something wealthy railroad owners were doing. Regular hunting parties traveled across Minnesota and into Dakota Territory using specially equipped railcars, with one documented expedition taking 634 ducks and 250 geese, along with other game. The conversation also explores how railroads helped establish legendary Minnesota waterfowl destinations like Lake Christina, Mud Lake, Lake Traverse, and Ten Mile Lake. As hunters discovered productive areas, permanent camps and prestigious gun clubs began appearing, helping shape the early duck hunting culture we still recognize today. And, naturally, the history lesson gets sidetracked by private train cars with garages, punt guns, dirty pop cans, airplane drinks, and the guys debating exactly what year they'd choose if they could go back for one day of Minnesota duck hunting. Topics Covered: •Duck hunting by railroad •James J. Hill and Louis Hill •Private hunting railcars •Lake Christina's waterfowl history •Trains flushing ducks for hunters •How railroads changed waterfowl hunting •Going back in time for one historic duck hunt Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | History Lesson: Ducks Rode the Railroad Pt. 1 | 01 Sep 2026 | 00:15:24
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys kick off Part 1 of a history lesson about a time when Minnesota duck hunters didn’t drive to the marsh, they took the train. As railroads expanded across Minnesota in the late 1800s, they opened access to remote lakes, marshes, and prairie potholes that had previously taken days to reach. Hunters followed the tracks, and the railroad quickly became a major part of Minnesota’s early duck hunting culture. Of course, the guys don’t get very far before the history lesson goes completely off the rails. Between arguing about how smooth trains were in the 1800s, debating old railroad technology, and imagining what a modern duck hunting trip by train would look like, there’s plenty of joking around mixed in with the history. Eventually, they get into specialized hunting cars equipped with sleeping quarters, kitchens, game storage, and dog kennels, along with the actual Railroad Gun Club, whose train car essentially served as a mobile duck camp. The episode finishes at Lake Christina, where railroad access helped turn the famous canvasback lake into one of Minnesota’s legendary waterfowl destinations. This is only Part 1 of the story. Part 2 continues Thursday on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, with more railroad history, duck hunting stories, and probably a few more arguments about trains. | Sports Guyz Only; Fantasy Draft Disaster | 28 Aug 2026 | 01:07:15
It's fantasy football draft day, and all four guys are finally back in the studio to build their teams for the new Sports Guyz Only dynasty league. With only four teams and a loaded player pool, you'd think it would be impossible to screw this up. The guys immediately prove otherwise. From Gavin taking Josh Allen way earlier than anyone expected to Carter grabbing Brock Bowers in the third round, the trash talk starts almost immediately. Nathaniel goes all-in on youth and unproven running backs, Gavin builds a roster designed to win now and worry about retirement later, and everyone spends most of Cal's picks trying to convince him he's making a horrible mistake. Everyone tries to balance winning this season with actually having a functional dynasty roster three years from now. Once the draft ends, it's time to decide who actually won. The guys rank all four rosters and make their predictions for who finishes first—and who is destined for the basement. Somehow, even after 28 rounds, nobody is willing to admit anyone else's team might be better. Plus: •The best and worst reaches of the draft •Deshaun Watson's future in Cleveland •The NFL getting rid of the Pro Bowl •Minnesota's latest NBA additions •Discovering the wonderful world of netball It's fantasy football strategy mixed with questionable dynasty planning, immediate draft regret, and four guys completely convinced everyone else's roster sucks. Good luck with your own fantasy drafts, and thanks so much for listening to Sports Guyz Only!

| Are Duck Hunters Getting Soft? | 27 Aug 2026 | 00:24:08 | |
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Cal and Carter are joined by Gavin for a shorter episode after wrapping up two weekends at Game Fair. With duck season right around the corner, the guys get into a debate about why waterfowl hunter numbers are declining and whether duck hunters simply aren’t as hardcore as they used to be. The conversation covers everything from declining Minnesota waterfowl stamp sales and habitat loss to drain tile, public land access, and the changing effort hunters are willing to put in. Are fewer people hunting because there are fewer ducks and fewer places to hunt, or have modern hunters become less willing to walk into a field, knock on doors, battle bad weather, and put in the work? That leads into a bigger discussion about how technology has changed the outdoors. OnX has made finding landowners easier, modern hunting gear is better than ever, and tools like LiveScope have completely changed fishing. The guys debate whether technology is lowering the barrier to entry or simply changing what it means to be a hardcore outdoorsman. Plus, the crew recaps Game Fair, talks about the excitement of early goose season getting closer, and Gavin explains why he still keeps detailed notes on everything from weather and wind to the exact conditions surrounding a successful hunt. Topics Covered: •Why waterfowl hunter numbers are declining •Are today's duck hunters getting soft? •Drain tile and waterfowl habitat loss •Knocking on doors vs. paying an outfitter •How hunting technology has changed •Getting ready for early goose season Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | History Lesson: The Armistice Day Blizzard | 25 Aug 2026 | 00:17:19
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys dive into one of the most tragic and legendary stories in Midwest waterfowl hunting history: the Armistice Day Blizzard of 1940. November 11 started unusually warm across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Upper Mississippi River, but it also brought something duck hunters had been waiting all fall to see, the northern migration. As enormous flights of mallards, canvasbacks, redheads, and other waterfowl poured south, conditions began changing faster than anyone expected. The episode follows firsthand accounts from hunters caught in the storm as temperatures plummeted, winds reached extreme speeds, and rain transformed into driving sleet and snow. Hunters became stranded on islands and in river bottoms, boats swamped, visibility disappeared, and some burned handmade wooden decoys just to stay alive. Others attempted desperate swims through freezing water or survived the night huddled around fires. Tragically, not everyone made it home. The guys also explore the staggering scale of the storm across the Midwest and how the disaster ultimately exposed weaknesses in America's weather forecasting system. For waterfowl hunters, the Armistice Day Blizzard remains both an incredible piece of duck hunting history and a sobering reminder of how quickly the perfect migration day can become something completely different. | Shawn Stahl; Ducks Have Figured Us Out | 24 Aug 2026 | 01:09:15
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Joey and Cal sit down with Shawn Stahl at Game Fair for a wide-ranging conversation about how waterfowl hunting has changed, what makes a great hunter, and why some of the best days in the field have nothing to do with shooting a limit. Shawn shares his thoughts on the changing landscape of freelance hunting in Canada, including outfitter competition, field access, and why the Canadian prairies may be one of the last places where duck hunters can still scout, knock on doors, and hunt the old-fashioned way. The guys also dive into how geese adapt to hunting pressure, why less calling can sometimes be more effective, and how tactics continue to cycle as birds become conditioned. The conversation shifts into waterfowl conservation, declining duck production, habitat loss, predation, domestic mallards, and what hunters can actually do to help put more ducks on the landscape. Shawn also reflects on how his own approach to hunting has evolved—from chasing limits and big groups to appreciating smaller hunts, good friends, new places, and simply being outdoors. To wrap things up, Shawn offers a simple piece of advice for improving the waterfowl community: just be nice. Whether it's another hunter at the boat ramp, someone on public land, or a newcomer asking for advice, there's a lot more to gain by helping each other than fighting over birds and hunting spots. Topics Covered: •Freelance waterfowl hunting in Canada •Outfitters and access to hunting fields •Hunting pressure and changing goose behavior •Shawn's waterfowl hunting bucket list Sea duck and layout boat hunting •Habitat, predation, and waterfowl conservation •How priorities change as hunters get older •Shawn's advice for new and experienced duck hunters Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | Sports Guyz Only; Better Than Brady? | 21 Aug 2026 | 01:02:33
This week on Sports Guyz Only... The boys are back from Game Fair, Nathaniel is out for the week, and it doesn't take long for things to get contentious. After wondering why any college athlete making millions in NIL money would ever want to leave campus, the guys dive into the completely normal world of college quarterbacks making more money than most professional athletes—and whether college football has basically become pro football with classes on the side. Then comes the argument that nearly breaks the podcast: Josh Allen vs. Tom Brady. When Gavin makes the case that Josh Allen could be the best quarterback of the last 20 years based on pure talent, everyone immediately pushes back. Is Allen actually a more talented quarterback than Brady? How much should mobility, arm strength, accuracy, durability, football IQ, coaching, and supporting cast factor into the conversation? And at some point, don't Brady's seven Super Bowls have to matter? What starts as a quarterback ranking turns into a full-blown debate over how we judge greatness in sports. The guys compare Brady's ability to win in impossible situations with Allen's physical gifts, argue over fourth-quarter comebacks, drag Matthew Stafford into the discussion, and inevitably end up at Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James. By the end, the horse isn't just dead—it's been beaten into the ground. Elsewhere, the crew debates the best defensive linemen of the last 20 years, including J.J. Watt, Aaron Donald, Myles Garrett, Julius Peppers, and Jared Allen, before diving deeper into the increasingly ridiculous money surrounding college sports. With massive NIL valuations, constant transfers, enormous coaching salaries, and rosters costing tens of millions of dollars, the guys debate whether college football finally needs its own version of a salary cap. Plus: •Why college stars would ever leave for the NFL •Fixing the transfer portal •The value of NFL preseason •Myles Garrett vs. the greatest pass rushers of the last 20 years •The Vikings' greatest defensive linemen •MLB salary cap talk and the Dodgers' spending •The Twins somehow still drawing fans •The absurd money in college coaching It's GOAT debates, questionable statistics, college football money getting completely out of control, and one Josh Allen take that turns a friendly quarterback discussion into an all-out war. | Scott Anderson; What Your DU Dollars Do | 20 Aug 2026 | 00:51:59
https://www.ducks.org/events/du-national-trip-auction This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Joey and Cal sit down with Scott Anderson of Ducks Unlimited at Game Fair to talk about what DU actually does for ducks, where conservation dollars go, and why habitat remains the biggest piece of the puzzle when it comes to producing more waterfowl. Scott breaks down why the Prairie Pothole Region remains such a major focus for Ducks Unlimited, how wetlands are restored, and why hunters may not always see the work happening behind the scenes. The guys also discuss a common misconception surrounding DU: its mission is to create and conserve waterfowl habitat—not necessarily to create better hunting spots. The conversation gets into the natural wet and dry cycles of the prairies, how drought can actually help rejuvenate wetlands, and the surprising ability of wild rice and other vegetation to return when the right conditions come back. They also discuss the cost of producing ducks, the challenge of funding conservation, and why getting more hunters and volunteers involved matters for the future Later, the guys dive into Scott's own style of duck hunting, wild rice marshes, divers, goldeneyes, changing migration patterns, and the ongoing research into domestic mallards and duck DNA. Scott also shares the story behind DU's National Trip Auction and some of the hunting, fishing, and outdoor trips available around the country and beyond. Topics Covered: •What Ducks Unlimited actually does •Where DU conservation dollars go •Prairie Pothole Region habitat •Restoring wetlands and producing more ducks •The cost of waterfowl conservation •Domestic mallards and duck DNA •Ducks Unlimited's National Trip Auction Thanks for listening to the Midwest Flyways Podcast! | History Lesson: America's First Waterfowl Refuge | 18 Aug 2026 | 00:22:52
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, Cal dives into the history of Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge—the nation's first refuge created specifically for waterfowl. In the early 1900s, the Klamath Basin held nearly 88,000 acres of lake and wetlands, attracting enormous numbers of ducks, geese, and other birds. But market hunting and the lucrative feather trade were putting incredible pressure on the resource, setting the stage for one of America's earliest major waterfowl conservation battles. The story follows conservationist and photographer William Finley, whose images helped convince Theodore Roosevelt to protect Lower Klamath in 1908. But creating the refuge was only the beginning. At the same time one part of the federal government was protecting the marsh, another was working to drain it for agriculture. Within years, the massive wetland had nearly disappeared, leading to dust, peat fires, disappearing bird colonies, and a decades-long fight over whether water should ever return. Eventually, restoration efforts brought portions of the marsh back and with that came incredible concentrations of migrating waterfowl. For anyone interested in duck hunting history, waterfowl conservation, refuges, or the ongoing battle over wetlands and water, Lower Klamath is an incredible example of how complicated protecting a resource can become and why those decisions still matter today. | Sports Guyz Only; Kyler Time | 14 Aug 2026 | 00:53:38
This week on Sports Guyz Only it's a two-man show as Cal and Nathaniel hold down the fort while Carter celebrates his birthday, Gavin is out, and Nathaniel gets ready for another soccer season with expectations already set at a completely reasonable state championship.
From there, it's all about the Vikings and what the move to Kyler Murray means for J.J. McCarthy. With Kyler taking over as the starter and reports suggesting McCarthy's days in Minnesota could be numbered, the guys debate how the Vikings got here after spending a top-10 pick on J.J. Is Minnesota giving up too quickly, could another NFL team take a chance on him, and what does the situation say about Kevin O'Connell's reputation for getting the most out of quarterbacks? They also pump the brakes on the Kyler hype, looking at Minnesota's offensive line, his training camp performance, and why this could have all the ingredients of a classic 10-7 Vikings season.
The quarterback talk continues around the NFL with Cleveland's situation involving Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. The guys make the case for giving Shedeur his opportunity, revisit his bizarre fall to the fifth round, and question how Cleveland ended up with one of the most intriguing young quarterbacks in the draft sitting behind Watson. Then it's over to Atlanta, where Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr. give the Falcons a quarterback room with plenty of talent—and even more injury concerns.
The conversation turns into a bigger debate about what actually separates the NFL's best quarterbacks. From Caleb Williams creating something out of broken plays to Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen seemingly never being out of a game, the guys discuss why improvisation has become such an important part of playing quarterback in today's NFL.
Finally, how much of Baltimore's playoff frustration actually belongs to Lamar Jackson? The guys debate Lamar's postseason reputation, the Ravens' failure to surround him with an elite receiving corps, and whether Baltimore has spent years asking one of the league's most talented quarterbacks to do too much on his own.
Plus: •Reliving the Vikings' chaotic 13-4 season •Eric Bieniemy's coaching career •Why Brian Flores remains in Minnesota •The Vikings' turnover problems •Kyler Murray behind Minnesota's offensive line •An NFC North race that feels completely up for grabs •Michael Penix Jr.'s injury history •Zay Flowers and Baltimore's lack of receiving weapons
It's Vikings uncertainty, quarterback arguments, training camp reactions, and plenty of NFL hypotheticals as the season gets closer. Thanks so much for listening to Sports Guyz Only and be sure to subscribe and review!

| A Waterfowl Roundtable: Bringing Hunters Together | 13 Aug 2026 | 01:12:00 | |
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, Joey joins some of the biggest voices in waterfowl for a special roundtable recorded at the Delta Waterfowl Expo. Ramsey Russell, Jeff Stanfield, Jon Sandvik, Billy Campbell, and Joel Brice sit down alongside Joey to talk about something that affects every duck hunter—the need for a stronger, more unified waterfowl community.
From public land competition and social media negativity to declining habitat and hunter recruitment, the group digs into why duck hunters can be so hard on each other and what needs to change. They discuss the unwritten rules of public land hunting, respecting other hunters, helping newcomers instead of running them off, and why the way we represent waterfowl hunting matters for its future.
The conversation also explores how duck hunting has changed over the decades. Better gear, shrinking habitat, increased pressure, fewer secret spots, and easier access to information have changed the experience—but the guys agree that treating each other better can go a long way. Joey also shares why introducing new hunters and getting kids into the field has always been such an important part of Midwest Flyways.
At the end of the day, everyone at the table shares the same goal: more ducks, more hunters, and a waterfowl community that's worth passing on to the next generation.
Topics Covered: •Unifying the waterfowl hunting community •Public land hunting etiquette •Social media's impact on duck hunting •Hunter competition and pressure •Declining waterfowl habitat •Introducing new hunters to duck hunting •Getting kids into the outdoors •Respecting other hunters and the resource •Passing hunting traditions to the next generation

| History Lesson: Who Owns the Ducks? | 11 Aug 2026 | 00:17:05 | |
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, we dive into the surprising legal battle that helped shape modern waterfowl hunting in America. The story begins in 1914 with an Arkansas hunter, a few coots, and a federal government attempting something brand new: regulating migratory birds across state lines. What started as a relatively small hunting violation quickly turned into a much bigger constitutional question—who actually has the authority to protect a duck that refuses to stay in one state? The episode follows the early Weeks-McLean Act, the court cases that challenged federal waterfowl regulations, and the confusion hunters faced when state and federal seasons didn't agree. After federal judges ruled the original approach unconstitutional, the government changed strategies entirely. That eventually led to an international migratory bird treaty, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, and the Supreme Court's landmark Missouri v. Holland decision. It's a fascinating look at how duck hunting regulations, states' rights, conservation, and even international diplomacy became connected through the birds traveling America's flyways. If you've ever sat in a duck blind and wondered why migratory bird regulations are federal in the first place, this history lesson explains how we got here—and how a handful of hunters and court cases helped build the waterfowl conservation system we still hunt under today. | History Lesson: Duck Clubs | 04 Aug 2026 | 00:11:13
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys explore the origins of America's legendary duck clubs and how simple hunting camps evolved into some of the most influential places in waterfowl history. Long before modern lodges and managed properties, these clubs became gathering places where business leaders, politicians, and passionate hunters came together to experience some of the greatest duck hunting the continent has ever seen. The episode highlights the rise of iconic clubs like the Chicago Gun Club, the incredible waterfowl habitat that once lined the Illinois River, and the traditions that helped shape modern duck hunting culture. From hand-carved cedar decoys and wooden boats to train rides into the marsh and mornings spent waiting on endless flights of canvasbacks and mallards, it's a fascinating look at a time when the experience of the hunt mattered just as much as the birds themselves. Along the way, the guys reflect on why the idea of a classic duck club still captures the imagination of waterfowl hunters today. If you enjoy waterfowl history, legendary hunting destinations, and the stories that built today's duck hunting traditions, this episode is one you won't want to miss. This week on Sports Guyz Only Brian O'Neill's contract extension sets the tone for another lively episode as the guys debate whether the Vikings made the right move, leading to plenty of passionate opinions and a few memorable rants. Along the way, they swap stories about brutal fantasy football losses, gambling heartbreak, and the broke-college meals that somehow tasted like five-star cuisine at the time. From there, the conversation shifts to the NBA as LeBron James' reported move to Philadelphia sparks a debate about what could be his final superteam. The crew breaks down whether the 76ers become instant championship favorites, where the Timberwolves stack up in the title race, and why Anthony Edwards and Minnesota could be poised for another deep playoff run. They also rank their biggest contenders and discuss whether stars can truly change the culture of a team. The guys also dive into the Vikings' offseason, reacting to Jamal Adams signing in Minnesota, Harrison Smith's uncertain future, and whether Aaron Rodgers can still lead a team back to the playoffs. Plus, they brainstorm a punishment for this season's NFL pick'em competition that could leave the loser sporting some questionable gear. To close out the show, it's a rapid-fire round of buy-or-sell predictions before the conversation turns to FIFA, UEFA, and whether the growing commercialization of the World Cup is pushing international soccer in the wrong direction. Plus: •Fantasy football gambling disasters •The best broke-college meals ever created •NFL betting rules everyone should follow •Which professional sports team they'd buy with $20 billion •The best investment in sports ownership •Will MLB finally adopt a salary cap? •Could the NFL expand internationally? •The future of FIFA and the World Cup As always, it's NFL hot takes, NBA offseason debates, soccer talk, and enough laughs to keep the group chat going long after the microphones are off. | The MN DNR is Trying Something New… | 30 Jul 2026 | 00:40:57
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast we dive into one of the hottest waterfowl topics in Minnesota: the DNR's proposed optional three-duck bag limit aimed at making duck hunting more approachable for new hunters. While everyone agrees that recruiting the next generation of duck hunters is critical, the crew debates whether simplifying regulations is really the solution, or if the real problems lie elsewhere. The conversation explores the biggest barriers facing new waterfowl hunters, from learning duck identification and navigating regulations to finding quality places to hunt. The guys also discuss public land access, habitat management, declining duck production, and whether conservation dollars are being spent where they'll have the greatest impact. Before the debate heats up, the crew shares stories from the goose calling competition world, including judging contests, sticking notes on stage, and the pressure of competing against the best callers in the country. They also wrap things up with another round of Say What?! | Why Every Duck Hunter Matters | 28 Jul 2026 | 00:09:37
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys take a step back from tactics and gear to talk about something even more important: what it really means to be a waterfowl hunter. As duck numbers face ongoing declines and wetlands continue to disappear, they discuss why every hunter has a role to play in protecting the future of the sport and why conservation is about much more than simply improving hunting opportunities. The conversation explores the realities facing waterfowl today, including declining wild mallard populations, wetland loss, and the importance of organizations like Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl. Rather than focusing on controversy, the episode encourages hunters to become students of the resource, understand the challenges facing ducks, and recognize how small the waterfowl hunting community really is compared to the rest of the country. Whether you're a lifelong waterfowl hunter or just getting started, this episode offers an important perspective on the responsibility that comes with the sport and why protecting ducks today ensures future generations will have the same opportunities we enjoy. With Gavin out on vacation, Nathaniel returns to the studio just in time for one of the biggest Minnesota sports debates yet: if Anthony Edwards retired today, is he already the greatest Timberwolf of all time? The guys compare Ant's resume to Kevin Garnett, Karl-Anthony Towns, and the rest of the franchise's history while breaking down just how quickly Edwards has climbed the Timberwolves record books. It sparks a conversation about where this current Wolves team ranks among every Minnesota roster and what Ant still needs to accomplish to officially claim the top spot. From there, the conversation shifts to the NBA offseason as the latest LeBron James rumors continue to heat up. Is Minnesota actually a realistic destination? Would Miami or Cleveland make more sense? And how much does adding LaMelo Ball change the Timberwolves' championship outlook? To wrap things up, Nathaniel returns with a full World Cup recap after correctly predicting most of the tournament's biggest outcomes. The crew breaks down Spain's dominant run, controversial VAR decisions, whether third-place matches should exist at all, and the changes they'd make to improve international soccer moving forward. | Sports Guyz Only; The Kaprizov Debate | 17 Jul 2026 | 00:47:18
This week on Sports Guyz Only, Nathaniel is out sick, which leaves the rest of the crew plenty of time to roast Carter's wedding, question whether jeans belong at formal events, and pitch perhaps the greatest wedding job of all time: making Joey the official beer vendor at a future reception. Then it's time for sports. The guys dive into one of the biggest debates of the podcast: did the Minnesota Wild have any choice but to pay Kirill Kaprizov? Using Sidney Crosby's historic contract as the measuring stick, they break down NHL salary cap percentages, Florida's tax advantage, whether Kaprizov is truly a top-tier superstar, and just how much a franchise player should command. It's a passionate hockey debate that has the crew ranking the NHL's best players and arguing over what it really takes to build a Stanley Cup contender. The conversation shifts to the NBA as Victor Wembanyama's decision to leave money on the table sparks a discussion about stars sacrificing salary to chase championships. That naturally leads back to the latest LeBron James rumors, with the guys debating whether Minnesota still has a legitimate shot, why Cleveland might make the most sense, and whether pairing LeBron with LaMelo Ball would actually work. The episode closes with fantasy football season officially on the horizon. The crew brainstorms new league rules, dynasty formats, hilarious punishments, and ways to make every season just a little more chaotic. Plus: •Ranking the NHL's current superstars •NFL dynasty debates •Odell Beckham Jr.'s comments on "generational wealth" •Blake Bortles' legendary retirement mindset •Kendrick Perkins as sports television entertainment •Nathaniel's impressive World Cup predictions As always, it's hockey arguments, NBA offseason rumors, fantasy football trash talk, and enough random tangents to remind everyone why no topic is ever truly off limits. This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the crew tackles one of the most interesting "what would you do?" questions in waterfowl history: market hunting. Rather than looking at it through today's lens, they discuss what it must have been like for hunters whose entire livelihood disappeared when new conservation laws changed duck hunting forever. The guys also discuss how those same debates over conservation, regulations, and personal freedoms still exist in different forms today. Then, Joey, Cal, and Carter close out the final Say What?! of the season. The championship comes down to the wire with trivia covering snow geese, Jack Miner, duck stamp history, and crazy duck stories. | History Lesson: The Outlaw Era | 14 Jul 2026 | 00:15:47
In this episode of Ten Minute Tuesday, the guys dive into one of the most fascinating chapters in waterfowl history: the outlaw era. After the Lacey Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act changed the future of duck hunting, generations of market hunters suddenly found themselves on the wrong side of the law. What followed was a hidden world of ducklegging, undercover game wardens, and illegal waterfowl markets that stretched across the country.
The episode explores how poachers operated under the cover of darkness, the elaborate systems used to process and transport hundreds of ducks overnight, and the dangerous cat-and-mouse game between market hunters and early conservation officers. Along the way, the guys discuss famous undercover investigations, why entire communities often protected illegal hunters, and the difficult reality of asking families to abandon the only livelihood they had ever known. It becomes a conversation not just about laws, but about how conservation changed the culture of waterfowl hunting forever.
Whether you're interested in duck hunting history, waterfowl conservation, or the untold stories that shaped modern hunting, this episode offers a fascinating look at a time when marshes were home to smugglers, secret camps, and some of the biggest changes the sport has ever seen.

From there, the conversation turns into a debate over some of the greatest athletes and dynasties in sports history. The crew compares Tiger Woods' unbelievable peak to legends like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James while asking what truly makes an athlete the greatest of all time. The NBA discussion focuses on the growing rumors surrounding LeBron James and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Would LeBron actually fit alongside Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball? Could Minnesota become an instant championship favorite? The guys break down the basketball fit, leadership impact, and whether the Wolves should go all-in if the opportunity presents itself. The episode wraps up with some of the strangest competitions in sports, including the controversial Enhanced Games, Joey Chestnut somehow continuing to redefine competitive eating, and an all-time hypothetical: who wins a race between Usain Bolt and Joey Chestnut if both have to eat a hot dog before crossing the finish line? | Sports Guyz Only; Billion Dollar Athlete | 26 Jun 2026 | 01:07:14
This week on Sports Guyz Only, the crew goes all-in on the biggest sporting event on the planet: the FIFA World Cup. Joey jumps into the studio for a soccer-heavy episode as the guys break down the tournament's biggest storylines, the best players in the world, and why this World Cup feels different than any before it.
The conversation starts with a debate over what actually qualifies as a sport before quickly shifting into World Cup fever. The guys discuss Lionel Messi's incredible start to the tournament, Cristiano Ronaldo's pursuit of history, Erling Haaland's dominance, and why France still looks like the team to beat. They also dive into Team USA's surprising run, whether the Americans can finally make a deep World Cup push, and why international soccer creates an atmosphere unlike any other sporting event.
Along the way, they explain how international eligibility works, debate dual citizenship in world soccer, and compare the different playing styles across Europe and South America. Plus, a spirited argument over the eternal question: Messi or Ronaldo? The guys also wander into plenty of classic Sports Guyz territory with discussions about Olympic athletes getting paid, the return of the Presidential Fitness Test, whether prestigious colleges actually matter in the real world, terrible fast-food chains, Waffle House adventures, and why Bojangles somehow became the most controversial topic of the night.
To close things out, they hit the latest NBA offseason rumors, Timberwolves trade possibilities, the future of Jaden McDaniels, Jaylen Brown speculation, and the staggering amount of money today's global superstars are making. This week on Sports Guyz Only, the boys kick things off with a birthday controversy, concussion counts, aging athlete problems, and a debate over whether anyone under 30 can truly appreciate how quickly the body starts betraying you. Cal celebrates another trip around the sun, Gavin accidentally misses the birthday by a day, and the crew somehow ends up discussing CTE before they've even touched sports.
From there, it's a full playoff recap as the guys break down the Carolina Hurricanes' dominant Stanley Cup run. They discuss Jordan Staal's unbelievable playoff performance at age 37, whether he's one of the most underrated players of the last two decades, Rod Brind'Amour's growing Carolina legacy, and how the Hurricanes put together one of the most dominant postseason runs of the modern NHL era. Plus, Taylor Hall's redemption story, Brandon Bussey's improbable Finals debut, and why Vegas may have finally run into the one team built to beat them.
The conversation shifts to the NBA Finals, where the Knicks capture their first championship in over 50 years. The crew debates whether it was the most competitive gentleman's sweep ever, questions the Spurs' late-game coaching decisions, and dives into Jalen Brunson's place in Knicks history. There's also plenty of discussion about Victor Wembanyama's increasingly villainous reputation, Mike Brown's coaching redemption arc, and whether Minnesota may eventually need a new voice leading Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.

| The Domestic Duck Problem | 18 Jun 2026 | 00:49:46 | |
This week on the Midwest Flyways Podcast, the guys kick things off with a discussion about summer plans, UFC legends, classic fighting movies, and why getting older apparently means everyone is tearing something in their foot.
Then the conversation shifts into waterfowl biology as the crew dives into a fascinating discussion about domestic mallards, game farm releases, and whether decades of human interference may be having a larger impact on wild duck populations than many hunters realize. From nesting success rates to the spread of domestic genetics across North America, it's one of the most thought-provoking conversations the podcast has had in a while.
The guys also tackle another submission to the Flyways Department of Grievances, featuring one of the most painful public land hunting stories imaginable. If you've ever had someone set up way too close, invite themselves into your hunt, or completely destroy a morning in the marsh, this one is for you.
To wrap things up, the crew battles through another rough round of Say What?, covering everything from the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and avian botulism to teal nesting habits, swan calls, and waterfowl history.
