In this episode I have former guest Kendell Mitten back on the show. Kendell and I talk about several topics. We discuss some of the logistics of planning an out of state hunt, with particular focus on western hunts. We recap Kendell's deer season and discuss the trials and tribulations of a deer season. Kendell shares multiple stories from his fall and some of the buck encounters he had. He tells the story of two great bucks that he harvested this year, as well as a couple of does. In this week's episode I have my buddy Caleb Seegers on the show. Caleb has been a guest a couple of times before. Caleb typically hunts whitetails in the state of North Carolina. However last week he joined myself and a group of friends for his first ever Sika Deer hunt on the eastern shore of Maryland. We ended up caping out two big stags, and killed several hinds as well! It was a slammer of a week filled with ups and downs. It was a grind, but it was awesome. In this episode we'll be doing a recap of how our week went, the type of terrain we hunted and some of the setups we made that ultimately led us to success. We talk about some of the differences and similarities that Whitetail and Sika deer hunting share. We talk about some of the major challenges that we faced, and how we overcame them. Overall, it was an incredible experience and I'm filled with anticipation for what the rest of the season has to hold!

In this week's episode I have Jacob Coons of the Hunt Detail podcast on to discuss the tactics we like to utilize during the month of October. We discuss finding isolated food sources, like preferred feed trees. We also discuss identifying habitat and terrain traps to see more deer using a limited food source. We talk about keying in on specific feed trees, even when there's an absolute bumper crop of acorns. Jacob and I discuss around what time of the month we like to start transition to a more "Pre-Rut" style of hunting, and what that looks like for us. We talk about different types of scrapes, hunting scrape lines, making mock scrapes and hunting cruising funnels. All in all a good conversation with Jacob that I hope yall enjoy! Happy October!!

In this week's episode I talk with Tyler Bentley. Tyler is the owner of "The Rise Hunt" productions. For some of you Tyler may need no introduction as him and his team have producing high quality content in the whitetail industry for the past 10 years. In today's episode Tyler and I talk about some of the stressors of filming your hunts, and owning a business in the outdoor industry. We also talk about TWO success stories for him so far this year, both on great bucks! One buck that he harvested in full velvet in North Dakota, and another absolute hammer that he recently killed in Missouri. In this week's episode I have Sam Brown on to share the story of the buck he recently killed in North Carolina. This story is absolutely CRAZY. As I'm sure many of you are aware, in bow hunting sometimes everything goes perfect, and sometimes it doesn't. Some hunter's who place a less than ideal shot on a deer will attempt to track the animal, and once they fail to recover the animal, the story ends there. That is not the case with this story. Sam's story is an example of perseverance and dedication to completing a harvest ethically, after making the mistake of a non-lethal shot on a deer. You definitely don't want to miss this one. In this week's episode we'll be re-capping both an unsuccessful and a successful hunt from opening week in the state of Maryland with our previous guest Mike Rebert! Mike and I go over the details of what type of terrain, sign and details he keyed in on to achieve success in locating a concentration of deer, and ultimately having success harvesting a buck! Mike also killed a doe the same week, utilizing the same terrain feature. We talk about how bucks will use even the slightest changes in topography to their advantage to move through the woods undetected. In this episode I talk with Mitchel Shirk, the host of the Pennsylvania Woodsman podcast. Mitchell and I discuss "working the kinks out" in early season and diving back into your deer hunting routine. We talk about some of the silly mistakes that we'll make early into the fall before we get "dialed back in". We discuss some early season food sources that we like to hunt from acorns to ag fields and food plots. We also discuss our personal experiences regarding deer's acorn species preference. Mitchell talks about his experience with deer feeding on ag food sources and the correlation between time of year and drought vs wet conditions and the impact that it has on their feeding patterns. This was a really fun conversation full of laughs and educational information with Chris and Angelo, the hosts of the Wing and Tail boys hunting podcast. In this episode, I talk with Greg Strunak. Greg is a bowhunter who resides in western PA. Greg hunts in both Pennsylvania and Ohio. He has recently become obsessed with managing his family's small farm for deer hunting. Greg and I talk about some of the management practices that he implements on his small family farm to keep deer on his property. Greg focuses on creating bedding areas, travel corridors and food plots. He has implemented a select cut to improve the habitat in the wooded portion of their property, and he talks about the impact that had on the deer movement. He also uses a tractor to maintain these travel corridors in the off season. Greg emphasizes the importance of timing and waiting for the right weather conditions before hunting the prime locations on his farm. They talk about the types of seeds they use, the benefits of creating bedding areas, and the impact of acorn crops on day time deer activity on food plot sites. They also share their archery rituals and preparations for hunting season. Overall, they emphasize the importance of creating diverse habitats and practicing good shot placement. In this episode Micheal and I discuss our preparations for the upcoming season. We talk about gear, hunting strategies, early season tactics, and identifying travel corridors for the pre-rut phase. We talk a bit about access on public ground specifically, and how utilizing unique accesses can increase your odds of success. Michael discusses hunting strategies in Pennsylvania and Maryland during the early season and the transition into the pre-rut. He emphasizes the importance of understanding deer movement and finding travel corridors between bedding areas. Michael shares his experience of hunting in mountainous terrain and using topography to his advantage. Kevin Creeley shares his own experiences hunting in flatlands and the significance of small topographic features like drains and saddles. They discuss the importance of scouting and finding fresh sign, such as scrapes and how they dictate deer movement. In this episode I have my buddy Mike Rebert on for a good ole BS session. Mike and I talk about what we've both been up to lately to keep us busy since the ending of deer season. We talk about how his son has been busy with wrestling, which leads us into discussing our high school wrestling careers and how they were de-railed by discovery of beer and women around the age of 17. We then transition into talking about how Mike has never really turkey hunted!! I share some of the basic ins and outs of turkey hunting and what makes it so great. This week we have Christian Williams on the show. Christian is the founder and owner of Archery Strong. Christian is a strength and conditioning coach with programs tailored to helping the archer and bow hunter alike build strength, endurance and prevent injury long term. In this episode we take a deep dive into what Archery strong is all about. We talk about injury prevention, strength training, form issues, target panic and more.He emphasizes the need to identify the specific factors causing the problem, such as excessive draw weight, improper form, or restricted range of motion. He also highlights the importance of load management, form, shoulder function, lifestyle factors, and equipment in promoting longevity and preventing injuries in archery. In this conversation, Kevin Creeley interviews Sam Brown, a deer hunter from North Carolina. We also talked about a buck that I killed this week! We touched on her introduction into the hunting world, and some of the experiences she's had and lessons learned along the way. We discussed how she's adapted from her past seasons and used that knowledge moving forward to become more successful. We touch on things like reading deer's body language, knowing when you can move and knowing when to be patient. In this week's episode I chat with my buddy and frequent flyer on the show Mike Rebert out of Pennsylvania. Mike and I talk about my recent trip to upstate New York farm country. I ended up tagging out with a buck and doe with the bow. It was an extremely fun week hunting a completely different type of terrain than what I'm used to. We talk about how to the timber type, the terrain type, and deer behavior differ in the area I was hunting versus what I'm accustomed to in southeast Virginia. We talk about a major heartbreak I had with a big buck, as well as the successes I had. This week I have Greg Litzinger on the show. For most folks in the bowhunting world he needs no introduction. Greg is an absolute killer with a bow in his hand. He resides in New Jersey and spends a lot of his time hunting tidal marshes, but his heart lies in hunting the hills. Greg has killed bucks in several different types of terrain. However, today our focus is on hill country rut funnels. We talk about terrain traps, habitat funnels, food sources, doe bedding. We talk about how bucks use the terrain to their advantage to navigate the landscape in search of estrous does, and how YOU can find the weak spots in their cruising routes to pull them into bow range.
