Yes we're back but in true Sonic Architect style, 'someone' bucked up the first couple of mins and 'somehow' Jon's voice got muffled. Ho hum...

Journey to the End of Night04 May 202300:38:14
It's the biggest soap opera in rock. A sleazy tale of Trump, God, and Neal Schon, of Hypnotism and Lawyers and very bad blood. And that's before you get to Priestess Paula and her biblical husband Jonathan and Caine.

Old Cov in shock new how-tickled-hi-ham headshot.

James Hetfield - bee keeper bombshell!

Leppard do one of those honestly really quite interesting albums with a symphony orchestra

And - yes - more.

Steven Tyler Accused of Being A 70s Rock Star14 Feb 202300:40:14

Jon gets all nervous whenever something like this comes up. He always thinks he's gonna be cancelled. I'm sure he won't mind me saying that.

Anyway, Steven Tyler has been accused of shagging an American groupie who was under age back in... 1975 was it? Me and Jon discuss it. Like adults. One who actually lived in the 70s and appreciated every transgressive moment, because it felt like freedom. I was 15. And one who did not and has no balls. He is 95.

Back In The USSR07 Feb 202300:37:16
Jon and I take a serious look back at the recently revealed list of banned bands in the former Soviet Union and ask this important question - why didn't we in the west have a similar list? I spent years pointing out that the dangerous likes of Duran Duran, Madonna, and Prince were violent terrorists intent on destroying the world. Only the gutsy reds did something about it though. Thank you Mother Russia.

The Niv12 Dec 202200:55:18
Jon and I have decided we need a manager. But not just some bean counter who will give us a 'taste' then run off with the rest. But someone more 'on our level'. That is, someone who sees we make NOT A FUCKING PENNY for these pods and who can 'turn it around'. Someone who is more like an artist themselves in that they 'get it'. But knows how to make the big bucks without sacrificing whatever it is you have to sacrifice to get there. (Though personally I'm up for a bit of sacrifice if it means finally making some moolah, ya get me, innit?) Anyway this is what we came up with. ALAN NIVEN. The one and only one. Yeah, baby.

Dead Rock Stars Spesh: Dan McCafferty30 Nov 202200:42:40
He was a bad, bad boy. Known for advocating the hair of the dog, taking flights at night, and inspiring Axl Rose to sing like a dwarf gargling with rusty nails while wearing a kilt. Join Jonny 'Mac' Hotten and my very good self the Flying Rockman as we look back on the career of one of the finest singers and rockers ever to come out of Scotland, Dan McCafferty of Nazareth who died recently.

Yes he's finally gone, taking his bone-fused skeleton and his crate of vodka with him. Mick Mars - the greatest guitarist that ever lived in Mötley Crüe. Vampire stunt-double, coffin-dweller, totally rad kick-ass metal glam ghoul extraordinaire, yes that dude!! STEVEN WILSON INTERVIEW02 Jul 202201:14:45

I have known Steven for over two years - working on his book, Limited Edition Of One, which came out in April this year.

Not a straightforward memoir, but something more conceptual, non-linear, a genuine collaboration unlike anything else I've done book-wise.

Then, after listening to him repeatedly explain why Porcupine Tree was in the past - he told me he had in fact been working with the guys on what would become their first album in 13 years, Closure/Continuation, which went straight to No2 in the UK this week, and No.1 in Germany.

Yes, my voice is a little lower down in the mix, I still have no clue how to operate the gear properly, plus he was handholding his mic (no room for anything else in my hotel room at the time) so he naturally sounds a little 'closer'. But then it's him you want to hear from on this, not me, for a change.

Let me know what you think.

Dead Rock Stars: JONNY Z25 Feb 202200:45:05
WARNING: The sound quality on this is not good. We had a microphone malfunction, then a brain damage situ, then an exhausted old fart saying balls, I need to buy better equipment. Meanwhile, however, this is me and Jonnie James Interrupter doing our best to huddle around one mic and say something decent about the late great Jonny Z, who died recently. I knew Jonny and his wife Marsha back when shit was real in the 80s (and beyond) and they were never less than wonderful, welcoming, honest, funny and true. I will return and do a proper pod/story about them one day. But for now, this is this.

Music BOOKS Secrets & Lies13 Feb 202201:20:37
One for a rainy Sunday afternoon here at Rockingwall Farm. Me on my ownsome - No Interruptions - telling you the hideous truth behind the books that wouldn't know the hideous truth about music if it came and blew bubbles in their hideous faces. Then there are the books I write and have written. I'll give you the dirt on that too. Along with the light. Magic done well works both ways and I am now a Magus in the occult art.

Music Mags Secrets & Lies02 Feb 202200:54:50

Honest, always right, policed by the Good Guys, never prejudiced, always fair... none of these things exist on all the music mags you love. To demonstrate, we take Classic Rock - a magazine still close to my wallet-shaped heart - and dissect the latest cover story on Slash. 'Honest' Mick Wall, as Brian May always described him, and Jonny James Interruptor takes you on a ride with the hows, whys, and wtf. Funny, too. (Other music mags exist, apparently.)

MICK WALL POD26 Jan 202201:02:38
Paying respects to the one and only Meat Loaf. The big friendly giant of rock who died last week. A life lived in epic cinemascope technicolour. Sometimes funny, often sad, a tragedy, a triumph, a true-life tale of emotional and physical mayhem. The monster to Jim Steinman's Dr Frankenstein. The Beast more full of Beauty than this cruel world ever knew.

The MICK WALL Podcast12 Jan 202200:48:59

Jonny James Hotten - aka The Great Interruptor - joins Mick again for another fact-filled, deeply-researched, strong but sensitive deep-dive into those corners of the rock world other pods are simply too stoopid to know about. This time we ask the question: when is live no longer live but 'live'? Albums, concerts, DVDs, all 'polished' to within an inch of their hairless sphincters. Featuring Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Journey, Eagles, Whitesnake, Ozzy and any other rock star you could name.

The MICK WALL Podcast E1220 Dec 202100:34:25
Are albums still a thing? Or are they literally nothing? Where once they were conceptual in nature, art objects you could hold in your hands, now they are purely conceptual by nature, an idea not an artefact, notional, random-play. Does anyone care? Should they? Really? Join me and Jonny James Hotten as we journey manfully towards the end of side two (or three or four).

The MICK WALL Podcast E1114 Dec 202101:08:00
Say hello nicely millions of fans to Harry Paterson. Harry authored two of the most daring political biographies this century in Don't Look Back In Anger (deep dive into the miner's strike which he and his family were part of) and Making Plans For Nigel (a comically bleak dissection of the full-fat fool Farage). Harry loves prog, especially Marillion, and writes for cats like Classic Rock, amongst others. An indispensable researcher on several of my books, most especially AC/DC, he also scares me once he gets going - and Harry was born getting going.

Featuring: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and - yes! - Mark Kelly of Marillion. Problems! Problems! (The latter said in a broad Scottish accent.)
